Opinions de Baja Cantina Roanoke
Saturday family dinner. We had no issues getting a table at 8 pm for 4. Chips and salsa were good. Bowl of salsa ($6) was average. Blood orange frozen margarita ($12) was stout! My wife and I ended up splitting it. Very delicious though as the ring of Taijin around the rim was a nice touch. Wife had Chile Relleno ($13) with grilled chicken. Boys had P/T Burritos (2 @ $10). I had the Guiso Mexicano ($13) with steak. Food was delivered in 10 or so minutes. Temperature and taste were just right. We finished up with a Flan ($5). Server (Angel) did a great job the whole evening. He kept all drinks topped off and the chips and salsa constantly filled during the meal. All-in with tip was $90. Well worth a try if you're looking for a good Mexican meal.
We love this place and have been going there for years. Staff is always nice, drinks are good and the food is yummy. What else can you say.
Such a caring place! I didn’t like my drink, and the manager personally came over to ask why. Then, they took the drink off the bill. I’ve never seen a restaurant do that before! The food was wonderful — highly recommended!
The bartender is always so sweet & attentive ! The margaritas are 10/10! You definitely get your moneys worth ! The chimichanga with the shredded chicken is a must have ! Great service , food & atmosphere
Food is amazing and so is the atmosphere. It's great in spring and fall as they have outdoor seating. Inside it is open air, so it's great either way! All the servers we've had have been fantastic. Food is exceptional!
Stopped in with family (4 adults + a toddler) Sunday for lunch. Definitely busy, but not too crowded that we had to wait for a table. Service was great; our server was helpful and took care of everything we needed, and the manager even changed a TV over to the NASCAR race for us. Margaritas were excellent, as was the food. The atmosphere is great - this is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the Justin/Roanoke area just for this reason!
I would consider this place a bit of an oasis. Very comfortable dining with superb service this time with Brenda who was just sensational. Surf and turf tacos were out of this world and the accompaniments were excellent Salsa brings the fire chips or excellent and everything is just outstanding about this place
Baja is great spot if you're looking for a great place to eat in downtown Roanoke. The wait staff is friendly and attentive and the food and drinks compliment the unique dining experience in downtown Roanoke.
One of our favorites. Great food and friendly service.
This place for our visit was was quiet street lined with trees my husband and I enjoy taking mother to lunch it was perfect food hot and good we will definitely be back
Amazing amazing amazing ambience, food and service. I love the carne asada steak.
Great margs, queso is delicious (I could come here just for drinks and queso and be happy). Not their biggest fan for their chips or hot salsa. Do they make their salsa FIRE HOT 🔥 so customers don’t ask for more? LOL 😂 The fajitas are good. Chicken enchiladas are good. Come for the margaritas!
The service was excellent! Chris made sure we had everything we needed. He was attentive, friend, and offered to refill or chips and salsa. The food was fabulous. I had the Baja nachos which was beef on baked chips. My husband had the chicken fajitas, which he enjoyed. The margaritas were good...I'd give it a 2 star because it was weak and that was the most expensive Margherita on the menu. All in all very nice
1/26 Edit: they brought it back!! Updated to 5 stars. 11/25: New review… The brilliant managers took the best item off the menu so never coming back. Shame… if you want what’s in the picture you now pay $22 🤔 Previous review: “If you know what to order, this place is a 10/10”
Love this place! Margaritas are fantastic! The patio is a great place to sit. They have mister fans out front so it’s actually nice in this Texas summer.
Great place in Roanoke. Friendly service. Can be crowded. Fun atmosphere. Parking can be a bit of a challenge on weekends. Plenty of bar seating with bar tables. Good margaritas. Reasonably priced with lots of menu options.
Great patio atmosphere, good service, yummy food. The brisket queso would be better with actual smoked bbq brisket, but it was just shredded, like pulled pork. Still good though. The taco salad with grilled chicken was delicious!! My husband had the lunch fajitas and said they were really good too.
Love the patio, Gabriel and the other servers/bartenders are great. The margaritas and steak nachos are both 10 out of 10. Been coming here for years for now.
This little gem has an extensive cocktail menu and highly recommend exploring it. We had the spicy watermelon and Pepito margarita. So good for a summer drink! Also had their chorizo queso…omg, it’s to die for. For lunch had their Baja tacos, also amazing. Service is great, greetings with smiles and friendly service.
I absolutely loved this place, staff was very attentive and nice, the food itself was amazing! With complimentary chips and salsa. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area
If you want to escape to a villa in Mexico, take a stroll down North Oak Street to Baja Cantina. Grab a coconut or mango margarita, sit back and enjoy.

Great food, service and margaritas…… too hot for outside but they have outdoor seating which would be great on a fall or spring day…. Will be back.

Nice relaxing atmosphere, staff is very nice and they make sure you are taken care of. The food is good! Rice had a nice flavor. Chicken enchiladas are good. Lots of cheese in the cheese enchiladas. I’ll definitely return.

Referred to this spot by a friend and 10/10 would be going back. We grabbed the beer battered baja tacos and they are the best in the DFW so far. The enchiladas suizas were extremely flavorful and well worth the purchase. Drinks were very good but fair warning, you'll want to keep it going.
It was our 1st time here today. Manny our server was awesome! Very helpful in our menu selections. Food was hot and fresh. And our frozen margaritas were fantastic! Can't wait to come back.
This is my weekly go too! I am so glad I found this place. The food is great and service has always been great!

Love the atmosphere, the margs and the food BUT the chips were hard and stale-like, the salsa was way too spicy, couldn;t even eat it and I can handle spicy. Not sure why they changed it or what. Chips and salsa are a big part of what mexican restaurant I eat at so this is a real bummer!
We enjoy this place. Good margs, good salsa. But shout out to the giant crater in the table right in front of my daughter.
Service was good. Environment was pleasant. We had lunch on a quiet weekday in their patio. Authentic Mexican food. I had the lunch chicken fajitas. Really good.
Pleasant atmosphere and delicious food! Small portions of beef fajitas but plenty of good service! Limited parking space and can be busy at certain times. Mask required to enter. Chips and salsa are awesome!

Stopped by after reading the reviews. We were looking for a decent margarita and place to chill for a bit. We sat outside in the patio and enjoyed the small Main Street atmosphere. The Salsa was really good and the frozen margaritas were solid. We shared a plate of Baja Nachos with Carnitas. It was really good. Will definitely return.
First time going here. Went with friends and there was 7 of us. Food was great but service was slow. Didn't get any more chips than what was given to us in the beginning and only got 1 extra salsa. Drinks were slow to get refilled and to get the check. For the time we were there it was not overly busy.

We've been coming to Baja for years, but hadn't been back since they changed management. This experience was pretty awful... It was busy, but our service was terrible. Portion sizes have really gone down too (pic attached - look at regular size dinner knife for reference on size of chimichamga).

We used to go there a lot because it had a great patio and decent food. However, the service is awful. We waited for chips and didn’t get any till we asked. We saw customers around us wait to be waited on while the manager and other servers kept walking past them. The manager never came to inquiry about our service. Are waiter brought out drinks, water and our food at the same time. Horrible service considering there are plenty of Mexican restaurants to choose from in Roanoke. Update: 3/11/25. They need to fire their manager. Worse customer service I have ever seen. On a beautiful evening he refused to open the garage window by the bar. No reason just didn't feel like it. We have attempted several times but he is awful. Plenty of places that service is better along with the food.
Was excited to bring my mom to Baja since we were checking out the cool vibes on Oak Street. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and order three margaritas to share between the four of us. Someone who wasn’t our server drops a single margarita and we figure it was the spicy one my boyfriend ordered. He took a sip, and confirmed it definitely wasn’t. We were confused so we tried to wave someone over to let them know. No one was really paying attention so we waited. Finally our server came over and confirmed a wrong drink was delivered and took it. The guy who originally delivered the drink came back outside and told us he made a mistake and it was for another table. Then proceeded to ask us if we took a sip, and I said yes. He then repeated multiple times how he will have to pay for it. It seemed like he wanted us to offer to pay for it, but all of us were so shocked at the confrontation we just kinda sat there speechless. Afters a little bit I grew really upset and uncomfortable how that all went down. His tone, and how he thought that it would be okay to confront us about his mistake as customers in front of everyone outside. I hope he didn’t actually have to pay for it.

I had not been here for quite a few months and had a friend come into town this weekend so we decided to have a girls night and go to Baja. We walked in and were told be the manager to sit wherever we wanted (because the restaurant was completely empty, not a soul in sight) he then went and got us chips and salsa and menus. Then another table came in and a served immediately went and took their drink orders, we thought oh maybe they are regulars and didn’t see us. Then multiple other tables came in and and the same thing continued to happen, everyone had drink orders and even some had food orders in and we hadn’t even gotten waters. We sat there for 30 minutes before finally resorting to waving to a passing by server and we were completely ignored. After that we simply got up and left and I bet no one even noticed. To say I was disappointed was an understatement considering this is one of my favorite restaurants. Definitely won’t be returning after such an awful experience.
Not the best Mexican restaurant for food, maybe drinks? Guacamole was good ! Burrito was cold inside Fajitas were greasy and the steak hard.
Jorge, the manager is absolutely strange. I came here with my girl best friend during lunch on a Saturday and he absolutely followed us and stared at us intentionally the entire time (I smoke cigarettes and we were having a few lunch drinks). He cut us off while we weren't causing any issues, and disposed of our 4/6th full bowl of queso that was paid for without asking if we wanted to take it home. Manny, our waiter was absolutely amazing. Super attentive. Really great service. The food was fabulous. I wish I could come back here due to the general experience of the entire point of coming here. But the manager was absolutely unnecessary with how he made us feel? Unsure if he has ego issues.... If you are a female, wanting to go out with other female friends, be aware that this may not be a safe place.
The manager at the Roanoke is not friendly at all. Went in for a quick late night nite and he was looking at his watch like he didn't even want to let us in. The tea if the staff was amazing. They need a new manager!
Poor customer service ! I own restaurants and the server took 29 mins to take our order. We sat outside the location and the waiter was Latino looking probably thought we weren’t gonna leave a good tip. It was slow inside not many tables. There needs to be more accountability here it ruined our dinner we left before we could order and payed for our drinks
