Classic and the food is delish! Huge menu and big portions. Exactly what you would expect. Hazelnut or Jamaican coffee was were nice choices, we had Hazelnut which was smooth and creamy. The 1/2 waffle meal was perfect for me. He got the skillet, loaded with his breakfast faves.
This diner is amazing. Housed in a authentic dining car. The menu is monstrous with amazing selections. The restaurants cleanliness was a 10 plus and also the rest rooms. Potato pancakes were delishious and home fries were real potatoes with skins cooked to perfection. Highly, highly recommended!!!
This place reminds of old school diners I frequented in my youth. Whether it was after school or after all night parties, the food was always satisfying and plentiful. These days, 2026, the prices are avg and the portions are plentiful. Home fries, correctly crisp. My Western omelette, perfect! The French Toast, big and hearty. This place is known for their milkshakes, but I didn't partake but plenty of others did. The service was right on point. The coffee was good. The place lives to it's reviews. It's good.
Food was amazing! Cooked exactly how we asked and super hot. Pancakes were HUGE, sausage was delicious, corned beef hash was homemade, home fries were cooked crispy on the bottom like we asked, steak cooked just how my mom likes, and hazelnut coffee was so yummy! Summer was a wonderful waitress as well 💕
Highland Park Diner is small, so you may have to wait for a seat, but it’s definitely worth it. I love the classic diner feel and the welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive. I went with a classic breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, and hash browns), and the portions were generous and everything was tasty. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town. 🍞🍳🥓☕️
Fairly old diner old style diner so inside is kind of a retro. It's old so it looks old but there's no cleanliness issues that I saw the bathroom. There's two bathrooms but they are small but there are two. At least I'm on to the food. I would be like to get the smoked salmon which comes with a bagel. Very good smoked salmon and a decent amount where you can put it on the bagel with the cream cheese and then we still had extra. So I would keep the lettuce to wrap up the rest of the salmon and eat the rest of it so you get a pretty good amount of salmon for. I think it was like 13 something. I also had some some other omelet dish that was gyro or something with feta cheese which is good and my wife had pancakes once and some other item I don't remember. But again, we've been back at least two or three times and we enjoyed the food. Each time. The milkshake was very expensive at like $89 and it was just okay so I would say maybe don't get it unless you really want a flavor
We are on a trip from CO, stopped here because Chat GPT recommended it and we were all very glad it it. The food was delicious! There was a short wait but they're very efficient so we didn't wait long. Service was also very great. I would come back if we lived closer.
Have you ever had a meal in a train car? This place is so cute. Service was friendly and quick. Food was absolutely fresh. Arrived at 11:00 or so maybe 11:30 and was given an option for breakfast or lunch. One in our party had the waffle combo with scrambled eggs and bacon and loved it. One had the club sandwich which hit on every note. I had the fried fish which was a massive portion of tops and delicious French fries. Coleslaw had too much heavy dressing, sorry to say.
Went for brunch today to this very classical diner. The servers are very friendly and approachable. Summer, our server, was great. The food was excellent. I world recommend the shakes and the western sandwich, but everything that we ordered was flavorful regardless. The atmosphere was friendly and vibrant. I will return here for a meal when I visit Rochester next.
Loved this authentic diner on our short visit to Rochester. It's truly a hidden gem. Loved the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. The food was exceptional. We tried their breakfast menu. We loved everything. The one thing we weren't too fond of was the hollandaise sauce on the Salmon Benedict. It wasn't as silky as it should've been. Other than that, everything else was on point. Our favorite was the nutella stuffed french toast. The french toast was warm while the fruits n whipped cream were cold. It is the perfect breakfast!
I love going here! There is usually a wait and they won't seat you until your whole party is present but it's so worth it. The menu is big and everything is delicious. My friend and I both got skillets they were big and delicious. We had leftovers to take home. I love that they have Jamaican me crazy coffee. They also have amazing homemade thick milkshakes (I did not get one one this time but I've have a pb and Oreo one before and it was amazing. The service is great and they decorated for Christmas! Highly recommend coming here. I've never been for lunch but want to.
One of the coolest places to eat in Rochester, especially for breakfast. The palce is a little bit bigger than it looks, there are about a dozen booths and then counter seating. Went for breakfast this past Monday morning. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to our needs. Restaurant was very clean and bright. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Portion sizes were very good. Depending on your breakfast appetite, you might even have some to take home for lunch. Parking lot is small and is kind of tricky to get in and out of as the cross streets are usually pretty busy. Would highly recommend any of the skillets for breakfast. The best time to go is during the week, right when they open. Otherwise, you can expect a wait and limited parking.
The gem diner in the city! I used to live just down the road on Henrietta Street in the late 80s and was a frequent customer. Just visited again and had the tuna patty melt with a cup of red pepper, tomato, and potato soup. The diner was very busy, but the food was prepared quickly and served by the friendliest staff. There are 19 seats at the counter and another 35 seats are so in the booths. Gets very busy at the traditional meal time so make sure you plan accordingly!
I don't know if I can add to all the glowing reviews of this joint (it's definitely a joint). There's a 1950's/ 60's decor which I find myself getting lost in every time I come here. Servers are quic…

Great service, lovely food and huge portions. Milkshakes so big they didn't even fit in the glass!

Our go to breakfast and lunch place. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu and great staff!
I came in for a busy Mother's Day brunch and everything was great as always. I always order the country or Nantucket Benedict. The service is top notch too, Georgia, our server was great.
Great breakfast, great service, super fun experience 100% recommend! Had a great time, food came super fast, the atmosphere and ambiance was great.
Love finding these old diners and this one is a real gem. Very classic train diner car style inside and out. Very busy and we got lucky getting a table just as we walked in. server was on point …
We got there before they closed, everyone received us with a smile, the food was amazing and it got to our table quick. 5 star for everything service, flavors, and speed.

Good food with reasonable prices. I had a hamburger this trip - nice and juicy with all the trimmings. Friendly waitstaff.
This diner has great friendly service and plenty of options on the menu. The gyro breakfast sandwich was tasty, was warm fresh pita bread, egg, gyro meat, and feta cheese which helped the flavor and texture a lot. It also came with “tzatziki sauce” on the side which really tasted like plain sour cream but was a good add-on. Would love to try a version of this breakfast with more spices salt etc added in and maybe a zestier sauce. We came at 8:30am on a Saturday and the booths were full but we got stools at the bar.
They're a little overpriced (you get more bang for your buck a few blocks down the street at South Wedge Diner, for example). However, some of their pastries are off the chain. Their baklava cheese…

Got the Irish omelette. Very good, not too salty like most corned beef meals. The potatoes were perfect, too. Service was great, kept the coffee refilled.

Food was good and prepared quickly. Server did ok other than forgetting to bring the coffee my husband ordered and forgetting my hash browns until we reminded her. She was unfriendly, unpleasant and seemed annoyed to be waiting tables. Atmosphere was ok, nothing special.
As locals, we surprisingly haven't tried this restaurant until earlier today, and though it's cute and the service was prompt, the reviews had us hopeful for far more than what we received. With the purchase including a Dr. Pepper, a vanilla milkshake, a burger (medium) with fries, and a vegetable skillet with medium poached eggs, the total came out to ~$42 before tip. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the customer who found the flavor to be lacking, as did my spice-averse companion. Though each table comes equipped with salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup, red hot, cream, sugar, butter, and jam packets, the food itself... did not seem to be seasoned at all. The burger was juicy, but lacked any real flavor, the fries were okay but lackluster, the milkshake barely tasted of more than cold frothed milk, the home fries didn't seem to have any flavor beyond oil and potato, the vegetables tasted only of the lightly-sautéed veggies and oil (with a little bit of vinegar from the artichokes and red peppers), the eggs were soft poached and fresh, but flavorless - the only real seasoning flavor in the skillet was Asiago cheese, and frankly the white bread with grape jam was the most flavorful part of the experience, even after liberal salt, pepper, and hot sauce. The saving graces were that the diner was clean, service was prompt, the atmosphere was cute, and everyone was marginally friendly. Still, it isn’t someplace I would visit again barring someone else taking me, and it isn't someplace I'd recommend to friends or family. If seasoning isn't really your thing, though, this would probably be - unironically - great for you. I don't fault staff in the least, and frankly think everyone there likely deserves a pay raise for the efficiency they displayed - we tipped > 20% because of the staff alone, and because we don't feel that decisions made by the owner oe management should impact the staff's take home pay. The experience was just lackluster overall. Something I'd be okay with from a 3 star location, but not so much from a diner rated close to 5 stars.

This diner has taken a long, steep , nosedive in quality , atmosphere, and overall performance. Extremely noisy ( sound levels were over 85 decibels- hazardous to hearing ) for most of our attempt at a breakfast. The waitress dumped all our napkins and utensils in a pile before stalking off , clearly showing that she considered customers trespassers and a personal burden . Crowded , cramped feel , truly awful food ( the French toast was some industrial bread that compares badly to a used sponge in taste and texture , the breakfast sandwich used some sort of cheese paste, the bread was again something salvaged from a reclamation plant somewhere, and even the coffee was worse than a usual diner coffee. The atmosphere was chaotic , the cooks seemed to go out of their way to crash all the plates around as loudly as possible and the entire experience was one of the worst and most expensive ( especially for the quality of the food ) breakfast I have ever experienced and that is saying a lot ! People should read the RECENT reviews - Many of us loved the Highland Park for years - and the reviews reflect the past - not the present sorry state of affairs .
I had high hopes, but in the end, i was drastically disappointed. We went in as a group of 5 and only 1 of us had an enticing meal. The chocolate chip pancakes: dry and bland batter. The side for those pancakes were turkey sausages for $5.99… more like two mini pinky toe sausages… so not worth it, they were tasteless. The chicken and waffles: small, cheap chicken (they were chicken tenders) and one dry, bland waffle… for $16… what a joke. The highland skillet: the seasoning didn’t exist… salt and pepper doesn’t come to mind at this diner i guess, and the gravy was flavored so peculiar. The steak and egg sandwich: also unseasoned, but once it was drowned in ketchup it was edible. the breakfast burger: the only meal worth the price and was moderately seasoned. Overall the food was just underwhelming, but let’s get to the drinks… the milk was in a smaller cup and was priced at $3.99 and i didn’t even get a refill. the iced coffee, which was in a larger cup, was priced at $3… and the milk was barely cold. I was crying inside. I left still hungry and sad… I expected more. See pictures as proof.
