The chicken mole was tasty, the 7 Mares soup was delicious. The oysters were fresh. The chicken inside the enchilada suiza was really good. The alcohols drink was smooth, with a subtle punch. (Cumulative feed back from our guest and myself 😉). We had the option to take photo souvenirs and buy last minute gift card for the mothers in our life. Thank you Stephanie for your great attentive service!!!!
The food was very hot, fresh and tasted great. I love the salsa and chips, keep it coming. Very good beer and drinks. The seating was nice and the service was excellent. The staff was engaging and made sure we had what we needed. Try the shrimp burrito, it’s super tasty. 🍤🌯
Happy hour is amazing! The food that you get for the price is unbeatable. Definitely have to hit it up if you are in the area. One of the best happy hours I have ever seen for food. No joke. The ceviche appetizer will feed two people!
I go here about once every two weeks with my siblings. First, because the restaurant is big and beautiful. There is art everywhere and the restaurant itself makes you feel like you really are in Mexico enjoying the culture and the atmosphere. Second, the food is delicious and authentic. The portions are also very large so you get what you are paying for. Third, the drinks are so delicious a little pricey but if you go there on happy hour the house drinks are all half off. And the bar tenders are really cool too! I would recommend meeting someone for a drink here or taking the family out to experience the culture! My overall experience at mi Guadalajara is always a great one and for that reason I keep coming back here. If anyone isn't sure and is wondering where they should go I recommend this place! You will want to go back.
Food was great, especially for people who are gluten free! Service was amazing and beautiful setting and atmosphere! Would go again.
It's my go-to Mexican Restaurant when in town in Escondido. Close to Safari Park, it has a great atmosphere with it's own separate bar and second floor, which features live mariachi music especially Friday nights after 6pm. Happy Hours are between 2-7pm which includes margaritas, domestic beer, and their main appetizers.
Mi Guadalajara Restaurant in Escondido is the type of restaurant that truly transports you to the heart of Mexico. From the moment you step inside, you're immersed in a vibrant atmosphere filled with authentic Mexican charm. The food is nothing short of exceptional. Their combo fajitas are a standout, with tender, flavorful meat and a medley of fresh vegetables. The tacos are equally delicious, offering a variety of fillings that cater to all tastes. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home. Their attentiveness and knowledge of the menu add to the overall dining experience. If you're looking for a taste of Mexico right here in Escondido, Mi Guadalajara Restaurant is a must-visit. The combination of delicious food, great service, and authentic ambiance makes it a truly memorable dining experience.
Great food. Charging for chips and salsa little excessive. But the restaurant was nice too.
Great food and service, spacious restaurant, good atmosphere. An Escondido classic!
I had my son’s graduation party @ Mi Guadlajara. Our event was handled perfectly! Every detail was done the way I had communicated it. All my guests loved the food. We were able to use the projector screen to watch my son’s video. We were able to hire a DJ and dance with our guests. We had only 36 guests for a small intimate party. Everyone left HAPPY!
The food and service is amazing!! Will definitely be back.
Happened to be in the area and gave it a try. So happy we did! It's in a weird building but you will not be disappointed. Amazing food with fast service! The menu has plenty to choose from without being overwhelming. Try the chorizo skillet. I can't wait to go back!
We had Happy Hour Margaritas - small for $3.75. So delicious we had to reorder! And, the salsa and chips - salsa rich but not spicy and chips just prepared and fresh! We also had fresh guacamole pictured here! Yum. We cleaned the bowl! I had Camarrones Al Mojo de Ajo - perfect. I was celebrating, so I had fried ice cream for dessert! It was a great meal, great upbeat ambiance and wonderful service. We ate early so missed the Marriachi Band - they were coming in as we were leaving.
Is a family restaurant with buffet on Sundays good place to hangout with family and friends.
I absolutely love this place!! Family owned and operated, just a wonderful family!! We have all of our celebrations here. The food is fresh and delicious and you cannot put a price on the atmosphere!!!
Really awesome authentic Mexican food place, Variety of margaritas, lots of different house specials. Serving sizes are filling. Left here stuffed and satisfied. Will be back again soon. Staff is very friendly, food came out very quick and tasted amazing. The MOLCAJETE MIXTO was so good flavor zone.
This time we enjoyed the cheese crisp but my taco salad the steak was very fatty and the beans or something must have been the steak seasoning was overly spicy and not even in a good way
I loved it, many fond memories, and lots of meals... I Highly recommend it, prices are reasonable...👍🏽❤️😎🦆
Great location with Parking and delicious 🤤 food , the managers and staff is great, for our first time they gave us warm welcome and offer us the buffet, clean and worth the visit
Great place to splurge and celebrate! My family goes here on special occasions. On a busy day/night you will need to wait. On a Saturday night around 7pm the wait time for two was 40mins so not too bad. Food is great!! Drinks are pricy but so good! The food will fill you up so we don’t order an appetizer just chips and entree.
The servers there are very friendly and attentive. Drinks and food delicious
This restaurant is big! The whole 2 story building! Also, looks like they have a private booth for private family gathering. Dining tables were every where. People were waiting inside and out to be seated. Once we were seated, I ordered Seafood tostada and it was delicious 😋!! You can tell my plate was huge but I surely ate everything. I also had the tamarind margarita on the rocks 🍹and OH SO GOOD!! big glass too and was well mixed. My husband had the Enchiladas Suizas. Yup his plate said it all how good it was! Reasonable price. Really neat place to eat. Friendly workers, and they have a photographer that takes pictures of the customers. One picture is free but if you like the rest of the pictures one copy is $15 and additional ones is $12 each. You have like 4 copies to choose from. On their sign, they have Mariachi on Friday night from 6-9 if you like Mariachi. Otherwise, come check it out and enjoy!! Bon Appetit!!🍽️🥢🧁
The food was so delicious. Being from Texas, I was definitely looking for some good mexican food and this place delivered! I got the Carne Asada Guadalajara and the meat was so tender/favorable. My husband got the 3 choice combo and they let him customize which he appreciated. Our waitress was very attentive and provided great service. We were able to "dine-in" at custom outside seating areas. We will be returning for sure!
If you’re looking for excellent Mexican food in Escondido, this is the place! This restaurant has a cool vibe to it. The entrance looks like a volcano. Not sure what this building was before it became Mi Guadalajara, but the parking lot feels like maybe it was a bank or something with one way lanes and a big awning covering part of the lot. Inside the decor is amazing! Colorful murals immediately catch your eye as you go to your table. The dining room is circular so it gives the impression of being inside a volcano! The food is truly excellent! This is a family owned restaurant and it shows with their traditional Mexican fare! I had 2 ground beef enchiladas with rice and refried beans, and they were delicious! My wife had a giant burrito stuffed with ground beef and my daughter had the carne asada burrito. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and polite. We had the house margaritas and they were awesome. Excellent food at an excellent price
The menudo was so delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
WOW! THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS. Price doesnt matter! As long as the drinks are perfect, and the food is delicious. This place make the best margaritas, we have tried alot of margaritas from other restuarants, so far, these are The best! Not too sweet with a delicious lime/tequila flavor. A MUST TRY! You want a cheap meal? Go to taco smells, hell tacos, If you're trying to do phone in meals, they may be really busy taking care of good customers in house, so don't uber food your meals! This is our first time here from Arizona, and we will be coming back soon. Great service and atmosphere. Thank you!!
Unique interior design and excellent food. Large selection on menu. Offers inviting looking lunch buffet. They also serve breakfast.
I can't believe we have not been here, especially for living here for so long. Food was fantastic-the chicken enchiladas suizas were well seasoned and the green sauce had a kick to it. The carne Asada plate also amazing, well spiced and flavored. Both plates with enough portion size for a healthy appetite. Dessert with flan with and without whip cream was out of this world. A minor thank you goes to a nearby seafood restaurant that did not have any tables available - otherwise we would not have stopped by for dinner. We will certainly be back for more since our attention faltered from our own plates as other diners were being served wonderful-looking plates.
Mi Guadalajara is now featuring an outstanding Sunday Brunch Buffet! Since they’re my favorite Mexican restaurant in Esco, I was excited to check it out and everything was excellent. I was really impressed with the thoughtful balance of Mexican and American favorites, serving both breakfast and lunch type dishes. It’s quite the varied spread that would satisfy just about anyone. I particularly enjoyed their Mexican shrimp cocktail, house-made tortillas, omelets, pork adobada and a penne pasta dish with diced ham tossed in a flavorful Mexican-style cream sauce. There’s also a nice selection of sweets and desserts. Brunch is served every Sunday from 9am – 2pm and very reasonably priced for all you can eat. I believe there is also a special full-service brunch menu if you’re not interested in the buffet. Highly recommended.
We were a party of 6 and had dinner in November. This was my first time here and it was recommended by our friends. The inside of the restaurant was huge with authentic Mexican atmosphere. There were beautiful murals on the walls. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our food & drinks. Our server was attentive.
This place is big and beautiful! I have been here several times and I am usually greeted by a friendly host. The servers I have had were kind and attentive. I ordered the pescado frito this last visit it was mouth watering delicious! My husband ordered the 3 combo plate: he chose the chile relleno, pork tamale, and chicken enchilada with rice and beans. The drinks here are very fresh also. This place is very family oriented, with that being said the noise level can get pretty high. I suggest checking the busy schedule times online because this place gets pretty packed out fast! We went on a Thursday evening so it wasn't bad at all. I have been here on week ends and the wait can be quite long but worth it for the food and service you get. I like that this is a family owned business. Keep up the good work, Guadalajara!
We moved up north about a year ago and have finally found our Mexican food restaurant. The atmosphere was artsy with murals on the walls, decorations, and felt very open. Doesn't feel overcrowded with the placements of the tables. There was a mariachi band to help with the celebration for the guest. The service was great. Our server checked on us often and our food came out pretty quick. The food had flavor, yum. The rice didn't taste like tomato paste was the base, the beans were perfect. The price was also not bad at all. This will be the place we bring our friends and family to when they visit.
This place has a wonderful, spacious atmosphere, without feeling crowded. Our party of five was able to get seated for lunch quickly, without a reservation. The service, although friendly, was a bit slow, but once we had our margaritas, we didn't mind so much. There were a lot of options available on the menu, however, I found it difficult to select, as many of the things that I would normally order weren't on the menu. So, I ended up settling for the shredded beef burrito and matching taco combo. I would have preferred carnitas. But, that being said, it was still delicious! I would be open to returning, if I am in the area, but wouldn't go out my way to get there.
Service was very friendly and welcoming but also very slow, which was disappointing since the restaurant was fairly empty. 25 minutes between dropping off the check and picking it up seemed excessive. The steak fajitas were really tasty. Not a huge portion of meat but it was filling and the meat was really high quality. Rice and beans were excellent too. However, only getting two tortillas per entree was a joke at this price point. Even Chili’s does 4 or 5. Everyone else in my group really liked their dishes too (chile verde, steak ranchero). The dining room and bathrooms were clean! The dining room has high ceilings so the noise levels stay low. And cool decor too! One note, this restaurant is not peanut-allergy safe. The items on the menu were labeled whether they contained peanuts (which I appreciated!) and I sent a note to the kitchen about my allergy, but I still had an allergic reaction to an item that should not have had peanut in it. Which was scary. So if this allergy applies to you I’d at the very minimum be wary if not avoid.
Menu has Gluten Free items clearly marked. Very good margarita, excellent atmosphere, good service. Salsa and guacamole are mild, and it felt like everything needed a lot of salt, but we enjoyed ourselves.
We had a great dinner here tonight. We had taco salad and a 3 combo plate. Food was great and service was excellent
I always had a good experience here, but this time I order by the phone, for pic-up I wanted the fajitas with steak, ckn, and shrimp, and the girl told me they do not have that plate, last time I was there they did have it so it was weird that today they didn't, oh well!! That's this only reason for a 4 stars.
Very cool restauraunt! Good food, good service. Glad we tried it out.
Place is good and the food is amazing but they served my little cousin who was 4 alcohol on accident a little bit over 1 year ago
This is a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Escondido, CA. The building has an eye-catching exterior and a spacious, colorful interior. Staff is kind and helpful. The Moscow Mule and the Cucumber Cooler are notable adult refreshments. The enchilada combo I ordeeed was one chicken and one cheese, rate it 7/10. The accompanying rice has some veggies like carrots and peas added in which adds color and flavor. The sizzling veggie fajita was 7/10, served with white rice. Prices are family friendly with no covidy up charges. I recommend and plan to return.
The customer service is amazing. It is unbelievable and authentic. You can’t go around by eating here. Just love it.❣️
To me, one of the most important things about a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. Theirs is pretty good 👍🏾 I didn't have a marg, so I can't comment on those. Tequila selection could use some additional thought. Guacamole app was delicious. Everyone's dinner was just ok, though. The beans were really good. Service was decent. We were seated quickly by a very nice hostess. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and is clean.
Overall good food, great taco and the chicken enchiladas were tasty but dry, needed more sauce, which was outstanding. Their extra hot red and green sauces were spicy and had much more flavor than the regular chip sauce. I got a combo and asked for all rice and no beans but I got rice and beans. 😢
We have been here a couple of times and both times the service is good, food is good and it’s a nice atmosphere. Great for family’s and friends. I had the surf and turf and that was a good amount of food, the shrimp was swimming in butter and the steak was more done than I like but overall is good. My wife got the whole fried fish and she loved it. Give it a try
We had the most adorable waitress. She was friendly, efficient, and very busy. The decor is very nice except that the architecture makes for a very noisy environment. The food was just okay.
Service was slow but very friendly, honestly was busy. Needed more staff, many food items came out incorrectly but I don't think they could hear. Atmosphere is always great had the cutest Valentine decorations.
This used to be one of our favorite places but it continues to go downhill each time we give it another try. Today the pitcher of margaritas was a giant pitcher of ice and sour mix. Literally the ice was overflowing from the top. I don’t even think there was tequila involved in the process. Very disappointing. We didn’t even complain because they seemed so under staffed and it took a long time to be seated and even get water. Definitely not worth the $50 price tag.
Sad to say this time was not a great experience. Our food was decent for a late lunch (early dinner) 230 pm. We ordered the Cadillac margaritas, as we always do. We were disappointed to receive what appeared to be a "regular looking margarita". On inquiring why we didn't have the small bottle "shot" of Grand Marnier on the rim, we were told we had ordered the "house Cadillac". This item is not on the menu, we checked. Our drinks were particularly sweet and seemed less strong than usual. We had arranged a ride ahead of time so that we could enjoy a second drink if we decided to have another. Checking the menu, the Herradorra Cadillac margarita was 14.95. We were charged 14.50 for each of ours. After discussing with the manager what we thought might be our mistake, instead of offering to correct it, she gave us 2 for one Patron shots at $11. (Not exactly what we asked for, but better than nothing, I suppose). We will not be returning to this establishment after years of patronizing what we felt to be a fair and deserving, family owned business. No attempt was made to see that the customer was satisfied. They simply brought the shots and charged what they thought was fair. Disagree. Buyer beware.
My rating is based off my whole experience ⭐ I chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday and I chose a different area to sit than the lower middle area. The manager said to me that choosing a different section if we get bad service he is not going to be responsible for that. Our server was Omar and I feel like he was on point and accommodated our party of 12 very well. So despite the rude comments from the manager our experience went smoothly and food and service up to par.
The food was ok service was slow 🐌 took awhile to have our order taken & even longer to get the check the atmosphere was nice though. Not in a hurry to go back .
Service was out standing our waiter was super attentive and quick with jokes. However the food was average. My daughter's ordered chicken nuggets, chicken plate, salsa verde plate. They said it was too spicy for them and lacked flavor. My wife and I both got the molcajete mixto, my food came out cold and with one shrimp and the meat was super dry. My wife's food was super spicy and couldn't finish it. Overall the food was not as expected, and definitely way over priced.
Food was ok. Fish tasted slightly off (not in a rancid way but rather freezer burned) and unfortunately despite asking for grilled fish, I received deep fried anyway. The tacos were stuck onto the paper so I'm not sure why it's served this way. The complimentary salsa is quite water-y and rice was over salted. The plating could've been done better as you can see in the photo with things dripped and falling out on the side. Service was standard as well. The server was polite but everything felt rehearsed rather than a genuine interaction...
First time at mi Guadalajara restaurant and I was not very impressed Came in waited about 5 minutes to get seated another 5 to 7 minutes to take our drink orders and another 10 minutes to order our food Prices are reasonable. Food came out somewhat fast. Got the burrito loco ( pretty good. But not much meat mostly tortilla ) beans 🫘 and rice 🍚 were both good guacamole was really good. The service wasn’t that good waited like 15 minutes with out a refill ( cup was empty ) chips and salsa was ok nothing special. I would return if in the area
This place is super cute. We were excited to come here after seeing all the great reviews online. However, this was THEE most unseasoned Mexican food I have ever encountered. Taco Bell and chipotle have more flavor than this place. The salsa was tasteless. Worse than the stuff that comes in a jar. We ordered the bean and queso dip. The queso was so soupy and seemed like they got down to the end of the container and added water to stretch it or to save a few cents. It was so thin you could probably drink it with a straw. Let’s talk about those little ugly, blue, plastic baby sippy cups for water. Y'all are too cute to have plastic cups. You take two sips and it’s gone. Just sitting there thirsty after eating those dry, tasteless tortilla chips. I ordered the mango margarita. It looked so good in the glass. However, that too didn’t have much flavor. I tried my friend’s tamarind margarita and that looked like it should have been exploding with all the flavors. NOPE, also bland. How does one make a bland tamarind margarita?! Even the plain margarita had no taste. What purée are you guys using? Please retire it. Y'all have great potential! I ordered the chimichanga with ground beef, no tomatoes and extra cheese. The rice and guacamole was pretty good, So good job on that. However, why on God’s green earth do Y'all put potatoes in the chimichanga? I know I read the menu and no where on there did it say potatoes. I was so confused. The meat had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. I’m willing to bet that Alpo (canned dogfood) has more flavor than what y'all slapped in that burrito. We were really trying to figure out how and why y'all have so many great reviews for your bland and tasteless food. I came to the conclusion that The majority of the folks dining, looked to be the kind of people who only have salt and pepper in their pantry. So it actually made sense. Again, you guys have great potential. Please revisit y'all's spice rack and add some flavor to it. And please choose a different brand of vanilla ice cream. Switch vendors or get better quality or something especially for the prices you have. Even though the food was below basic, the service was exceptional. The pretty young lady with the two nose rings did a great job!
my experience at Mi Guadalajara was disappointing. when I asked for a separate check while ordering, the waitress reluctantly agreed but despite agreeing, I still had to separate the check myself at the end, which was frustrating. I ordered the chicken fajitas, which was a plate with mostly onions. Again a disappointment.
Well, the food was amazing. The service was awful. We will not be back to this establishment. Our server was slow. We had a party of six only brought four waters asked for two more never received them. The worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant
Oh my goodness, it was awful. I feel bad… but it was just awful. I ordered veggie fajitas and it took them almost one hour to cook it. They brought out a microwaved plate of steamed broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. There was no sight of regular fajitas ingredients. I only got one small wrapped tortilla and a side plate with microwaved rice, peas, and guacamole that looked like it came from a box. I couldn't believe my eyes. Their chips, salsa, and queso tasted very inauthentic, burnt, and watery. It was a sad sight.
The food was just horrible. No taste and it made me sick. I ordered the wings and they were dry. The ranch dressing was watered down. The guacamole tasted like it came in a box. The worst was the Mariscada. The oysters tasted like they had been outside all day. It made me sick. Not fresh tasting at all. The people were very nice but the food…. No gracias. And to top it off they included a 20% tip in the bill. Fuera!
We've driven by this place a bunch of times and finally stopped in. This is the most tasteless mexican food ever. I decided to play it safe and go with an asada burrito. Zero seasoning on the meat, and it was literally just meat wrapped in a flour tortilla. Beans and rice had zero flavor. Chips and salsa were the worst. It was mid-day on a Saturday and it took them ten minutes to get me a Corona. The wife was equally disappointed with her meal. On top of that, the server didn't stop by one time. If you're gonna have bad food, at least have good service.
My husband and I recently visited Mi Guadalajara restaurant for the first time, hoping for a quiet and pleasant dinner. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of our expectations. The restaurant's atmosphere was marred by excessive noise, preventing us from having a conversation. It seemed as though the building's acoustics amplified the noise, and coupled with the close proximity of tables, we felt a distinct lack of privacy. To make matters worse, around 6 pm, a mariachi band began serenading every single table, adding to the already loud environment. While we understand that they have the band only on Fridays, the volume level was overwhelming and detracted from the dining experience. When it came to the food, we both ordered steak fajitas, hoping for a flavorful and satisfying meal. However, we were disappointed to find that the fajitas were bland and lacked the desired taste. The meat was tough and not as tender as we had hoped, which further diminished our enjoyment. Additionally, we decided to try the so-called "large" house margarita, only to discover that it was actually small in size, watered down, and overpriced. Considering our overall experience, we regretfully conclude that we will not be returning to this restaurant. The combination of excessive noise, lackluster food, and subpar drink offerings has left us with a negative impression. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this restaurant to others seeking a pleasant dining experience.
