We ordered the oxtail Ragú and gnocchi. Blown away by the flavor profiles in a dim lit serene atmosphere. Portions said they were to share found them slightly less then shareable for me myself and my wife. This was a none issue just something to watch. Over all in and out and amazing food and experience!!
Good luck, indeed, to find this place and get a Saturday night table. Bud the Bartender at a wine bar we were at in Pittsford, NY, called in a favour and we got a table and had an absolutely amazing meal. Massive sharing plates. Fantastic food. Brilliant atmosphere. Attentive service. Ultimately, a tremendous value. This was awhile ago, but I still think about that night.
Burger and fries were fantastic, as always! Menu consistently changes so might want to check before you go as it is very pricey, but worth it! Excited to go back and try some marg. pizza next time! We avoided the wait by eating at the bar and enjoy their vast selection of cocktails and sipping whiskey!
We visited Good Luck after a show at the Memorial Art Gallery and had a wonderful time. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the evening feel special. Our salads were absolutely delicious — fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully prepared. A great spot to enjoy a meal after a night of art and culture.
It was everything positive I heard and read about. Waiter was amazing and even told us the steak we ordered takes some time to cook ( a great heads up when you have plans after ). Food was phenomenal, decor was unique and the atmosphere was great & well lit contrary to some reveiws... granted there was alot of natural light when we were there.
Madeleine was amazing! After having drinks with substation with them, they were amazing! After learning she was only she was there for a few months, she was great! I hope she gets recognize by the company how great she makes her drinks and a great interaction she does with customers!
We planned a special dinner party for ten with the expert help of Mariel, who accommodated all our requests in advance. It was delightful to work with her. Sarah was our server that night and she paced the evening perfectly, with care and enthusiasm. The dining room was busy with a happy vibe throughout the restaurant. The manager Melissa took time to speak to me too. Our friends raved about the delicious food and creative cocktails. A+ experience!
Find Ralph, get the best cocktail! Find Alex, get the best treating! Thanks Professor Haviv’s recommendation!
This place is amazing. I felt like I was walking into a secret club. Remember the end of the Titanic? And the ushers in tuxedos are ushering rose into the main area? Same feeling. Also, I’ve never had ox before. Oxtail Ragout is my new favorite food. I just wish they were open 24/7.🫡
Always a great experience and amazing food. Service is fantastic.
This is one of the best spots in Rochester. Amazing cocktails, mocktails and very tasty food. Great ambiance and music. It’s typically busy but you can always find a spot at the bar. The only problem is the food takes forever! So I recommend ordering immediately if you’re planning on going somewhere else after.
This is my second favorite restaurant in Rochester area. Their desserts are exceptional and you cannot find a better burger anywhere.
Very good food with large portions sizes. When we tried it, they had a seasonal rose pistachio ice cream that was incredibly delicious!
I’m not from Rochester but I’ve heard of Good Luck from friends so it was serendipitous that I stumbled across it. My daughter and I were leaving Rochester looking for a place to eat after a day spent enjoying the museums when a wrong turn brought us to its doorsteps. We dine out a lot and I’ve experienced the less than hospitable attitude towards being a 2 top with one being a child = low check average/ low tip. This was not the case. We were warmly greeted by the hostesses and although the restaurant was busy and seemingly full they were able to get us a table quickly. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious. Like I said it was fairly busy and a great ambience was created by the amount of guests and staff busily at work. Our server Alyssa P. was a gem. I felt she gave us the same attention and service that she would give for a large table. She walked us through the menu choices masterfully and helped me select a cocktail. My daughter is 7 and had a Shirley temple and is probably spoiled for life with their use of luxardo cherries, probably the best Shirley temple her and I have ever tasted. I had the “Becky’s Favorite Sweater,” wonderful concoction, total different from the norm. If we were with more people I would’ve loved to have tried more of the menu but since it was just the two of us we shared the burger. While we were waiting for our burger another server was placing candles and flowers at the tables for the evening service. This gentleman made my daughters night by moving flowers from another empty table that she was admiring to ours. Such a nice gesture and telling of a great staff. The burger is awesome, shareable and a centerpiece to any table. The fries were hot, crisp well seasoned and delicious. My daughter loved everything and we were battling over the last of the French fries! We didn’t have room for dessert but we will definitely be back! Thank you to Alyssa and everyone else that made our little daddy/ daughter date special and memorable.
We have a group of 5 people reserved at 9:30 pm. I was originally skeptic about going to the restaurant such last time for dinner. However, the food was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered white pizza, margarita pizza, fried chicken, orecchiette, and arctic char. I gotta say the chefs and cook really know how to make food. Fried chicken was delicate, and gravy and biscuits were renovated. Arctic char was the best. Honey sauce and potato puree were perfect combo. Pizzas and pasta were just one of the best around here. I loved it much. We surely go back later! Oh the desserts we're great too.
When I say this place is good it is GOOOOOOOD!!!! MMMM MMMMM GOOD. Everything I tasted was delicious. The steak of the day was the most tender, juicy, flavored beef on a slab I have tasted in a while. The enchilada bowl thing bomb. It was not soggy or wet (I hate that). The burger was LARGE but still flavored. It takes skill to keep the flavor in a 1lb burger and good it to the right temperature. The oxtail stew... I'm going to just get that. I believe it had tripe in it but the flavors... I barely noticed. The pizza delicious. The cheese charcuterie board was tasty. Very interesting items on it. The bread was on point literally. The buttered noodles were even good for the baby. Plus everything warmed up good for the next day. The food is served to share. So get some greedy friends and see if you have any "Good Luck". P.S. bring a fly swatter they must be hungry too.
Great seasonal menu with a nice variety of vegetarian offerings in addition to meat. Everything was delicious. The homemade vanilla ice cream was sublime!
I’ve heard that everything is good here but I’ve only ever had the burger and fries. That sounds ridiculous as I write it, but really, it’s that good. It’s so rich, though, I always split it with whomever I’m there with. Next time, I’ll try sometime else. I swear! Oh, make reservations way in advance...like weeks!
Exceptional in every way. A beautiful old brick building, great ambience but not too noisy, just gorgeous inside. Great service. And as for the food ... wow! Everything is family style (ie huge portions!) And everything has expectational flavor. Just amazing. The draft beers are great too. Go there hungry!
What a great place! Everything is so fresh and different. The drinks are all 1 price using top shelf and local alcohol. The menu has a nice selection of choices, everything is served family style and you share, the portions are not overwhelming and everything is prepared on site. This is a very popular restaurant, reservations are recommend. There is ample free parking in the 2 lots close by or in Village Gate with a short walk. We started with the asparagus salad, then on to The Braised Oxtail (pictured), ask for some bread to eat along with it. We also had the fried chicken, which was awesome, crunchy with both sweet and spicy aspects. Finished with a baked chocolate cake and scoop of home made ice cream. Everything was on point!
Best. Food. Ever. Super sweet helpful hostess, Olivia. Extremely friendly helpful staff. Great space. There’s a great sharable plan with the food. I got the mushroom dish as I feel there aren’t enough places doing them justice, and I was not disappointed. I had some of my boyfriend’s burger, it was very high quality. Another friend got a fish dish that was also amazing. A second burger and we had enough food for six. (Not light eaters!!) They had some fun cocktail plans everyone enjoyed.
This place was fabulous. Every attention was given to the detail of the cocktails, the menu, and the desserts. If I had to complain I would say that the walnut pasta did not have any salt, everything else was quite amazing including a very good burger, multiple salads that we ordered, the braised fennel, The peach cocktail, the black tea cocktail, the violently citrus cocktail, and the basque cheese cake.
Giving this restaurant 5 stars makes me want to reduce the ratings I've given other places just to make sure this rating is high enough for Good Luck! This was hands down the best dining experience, the best food, the best atmosphere, the best service I've ever received. The food was exquisite, and still accessible for my basic palette, we got the charred carrot salad which had a serious mix of flavors and made me feel like that one scene from Ratatouille where Remi is putting foods together and experiencing them in color and music. We shared the good luck burger which again was the best burger we've ever had. The meat was seasoned amazingly it didn't even need the sauce, but the sauce was amazing too - a homemade ketchup, mustard whiskey sauce, along was more fries then we knew what to do with and brought home leftovers. Portions were perfect, we shared each plate and were full but not overstuffed, along with the extra fries we brought home. The dining room was full and a little loud with everyone there but not so loud that it was uncomfortable, the lighting made it very cozy to sit and enjoy the meal. We both got cocktails - my partner got a Moscow Mule and I got the Ida Nymph, both were fantastic and full of deep flavor. The Ida Nymph was sweet and warm with a lot of spice, not harsh spice but long lasting warm spice. I can't say enough about this experience, it was absolutely perfect. We came to celebrate our anniversary and New Year's, and to also check it out as a potential spot for our upcoming wedding dinner and now we're totally convinced that this is what we want to do and will be booking soon. We can't wait to go back to celebrate more anniversaries, milestones, our wedding, and just to go out for a fancy date night! If you're unsure if you want to try this place out - book your table NOW it's absolutely amazing!
Went for cocktails and atmosphere…. Open until 1AM on Friday and Saturday. It’s very pretty inside with a large bar. Seating for dinner looks comfortable as well, though I did not eat there. Excellent, talented, friendly, welcoming mixologist named Ben was the highlight for me. Witnessing him craft a cocktail is like watching a magic show. So kind and willing to explain ingredients, flavors, and lore (as the night wound down and became less busy, of course). Nice crowd, interesting patrons. I look forward to visiting again.
Good Luck defines five stars. After eating there, I may have to re-think my scoring system! The atmosphere, service and food were all top notch. We had a 6:45 reservation on a Saturday, were seated promptly and the server appeared within a few minutes. The insides of the place are so cool to look at ... old style factory restored just enough to be rustic yet chic. The service was prompt and attentive ... here when needed and not bothering you when you want to be left alone. The cocktails are truly a work of art ... don't try this at home type of drinks. You need too much special stuff to make them and they are off the charts good. Then there's the food. Each thing we ordered, including dessert was great. The wine list is complex and pricey, but their Sommelier came over to help navigate the perfect choice for both dinners without breaking the bank. And they had "dram of the day", a barrel proof Michter's Rye I've never seen and was the perfect top-off to a great experience. You'll spend $100 to $150 per person with cocktails and a bottle of wine included, but at Good Luck you get what you pay for. Not an every week kind of place, but for that special occasion or with special guests in town, it's top of the list.
Was invited here for a family special event. First impression is key. From the hostess to the bartender, waitress and waiters all were friendly, warm and welcoming. The waitress and waiters were attentive. The owner should be proud of having such a great team of employees. The pizza, burger and steak were delicious, kudos to the chefs and kitchen team. I also tried the chocolate cake and carrot cake for dessert, they were rich and scrumptious. Did I mention the steak?!
This place was seriously incredible. From the food to the staff and atmosphere. You must must MUST have their house made malloreddus!! It was to die for. Some tips, make reservations, and make them well in advance because the only nonreservation area is the bar. The only sign disclosing the place is this small plaque at the door. Their menu remains relatively stagnant, but the dishes are so delicious. Starting from top to bottom on the menu, you go from smaller appetitizers to large entrees. They recommend ordering a few things for the table like Tappas style to get the most for the experience. Also try their cocktails, seriously. I will always come back here.
Everything about Good Luck is so right, the ambiance, the mood, some of the service (I'll touch on in the next few sentences), and the food! The food was perfect in every way. My date had the special of the night which was beef heart sauce and rigatoni, it seemed like an ode to pasta bolognese, but fancier yet so very good with the perfect balance of acidity and saltiness. My date is Italian and anytime we order an Italian dish he always picks it apart--not this time. I, on the other hand, opted for the seared salmon and oh my word!! The best salmon I've had in Rochester. EVER. The bed of white bean ragú it sat on was beyond fantastic, the salmon was perfectly cooked. If you are a savory lover then this dish is for you. Now to the service, the one reason I didn't give it five stars. We had reservations so we were sat in a sort of holding table by the bar until our table was ready which was fine, we were still attended to and someone handed us a menu and water and one of the bartenders came over and took our drink order, then we sat at our table and ordered. The downside was that my date's entree came out very quickly, probably within 15 minutes, but mine didn't come out until he was about 90% done with his meal. It was a good 30 minutes before my food came out. I'm used to eating together, not at separate times. Also, my waitress didn't really check up on us, I had to ask two different waiters on two different occasions for assistance which I hate to do because I know they have their own patrons to tend to. All in all, the service will not deter me from ever dining here again. It is without a doubt one of my top three favorite restaurants in Rochester.
We were celebrating my daughter in laws 30th Birthday at Chefs table. $84 per person. But so well worth it for the amount and quality of food you get. Champagne and pony beer included along with fabulous deserts. The food just keeps coming out like 7 course meal. And you get to bring all left overs home. We had like 7 bags with at least 3 ro 4 containers of left overs in each. It really is worth the experience even If your appetite is not that big. I would happily do it again. Treat yourself and go YOLO and your worth it.
It was our first time visiting Good Luck Restaurant, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was top-notch. We’ll definitely be back!
First visit after wanting to go for a long time. We were not disappointed. We dined in with reservations on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. Each staff we interacted with was pleasant, knowledgable, and engaging. I enjoyed the large drink menu and had a tasty Moscow mule. I enjoyed the ambience and decor. Great place for a date night, girls night, or birthday get together. We shared the pan seared trout dish which highlighted a crispy skin, smooth hummus slathered on a warm pita, and delicate pea tendrils. The fish was moist, flaky, and not too fishy. The red chimichurri was not too spicy, but had a little kick. We then shared the infamous Good Luck Burger. We were ready for a nap afterwards! It was, again, fun to share a dish together. I found the 1 lb. burger to be moist, but crispy on the outside and well-seasoned, with a salty bite. The creamy, crispy slaw and mild cheddar cheese toppings were just what was needed. The fries were thin, dark, crispy, and flavorful. Finally, we tried the hot, gooey chocolate cake a la mode for a shareable dessert. Very tasty and comforting, with just a dollop of melty vanilla ice cream.
Embarrassed to admit this was my first time at Good Luck but I loved it! I understand the hype! Food and drinks were awesome and I definitely want to experience more of the menu when I go back! Service was great and JJ the waiter was so personable and kind! Will definitely return soon!
This place is a classic upscale new American restaurant. This place has a lot of hype around it, so I figured I’d check it out. For the food, we got this rabbit food-esque appetizer which actually ended up balancing out the heaviness of our entree, the burger. The burger was probably the best I’ve had in my life. Really nice crust on the outside, and the shoestring fries were delish. The food was great, but what really stood out to us was the service. Our server Luis was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us through our choices. Seriously 10/10 hospitality. For sure a bit pricy (especially if ya hit the sauce hard like we did), but it’s a nice splurge spot to bring loved ones. Is it the best restaurant in Rochester (as I’ve seen others claim)? I’d say no. But it was pretty damn good and I’ll be coming again.
I'd always wanted to try this place. Living in ROC has its advantages, and not having to make a reservation a month in advance for two people is something I am accustomed to. So when we waited five weeks to get a table for two, I couldn't help but ask myself if all the other patrons here had to do the same. Maybe there's a secret queue I'm not privy to. I digress. A place for Gen Z and young millennials to savor, and for good reason, the inspired food and cocktail creations and warehouse/factory (yet cozy) atmosphere are an *experience*! My partner had the Sicilian pizza. It looked thick and heavy. Boy was I fooled; it was light, while savory. I would go back just for that. I got the surf and turf, which was sea scallops and lamb chop, both cooked perfectly, moist, just the right doneness for both. Both dishes had an overall good flavor palate, and this makes the entire visit positively differentiated from other 'trendy' spots, and one of the main reasons I have already made another reservation. Once again, for five weeks from now??? It's worth the wait. About half the meals were couples sharing the burger entrée, with the huge pile of fries. I hear it's quite good, but I couldn't convince myself to order a burger with all the other good options available (and my partner is a vegetarian). Maybe next time, because they were quite popular! My surf and turf was a single serving for sure (see pic) but the pizza was made to share. Nice cocktails as well. I forget the name, but I got one w/ lemon, lavender, and egg white.
Dishes here are all shared, including their hamburger, which is cut into 4 pieces. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a dish. We chose the squid with pasta, Good luck burger, duck with sausage and grilled rib-eye steak. We also shared bread pudding and chocolate cake for dessert. I found the duck a little dry. Otherwise, portions were generous and dishes appetizing. I specially liked the bread pudding. Service is very good.
Airport Vibes, Maddy Made It Magic ✨🌴 Came in way too early to be drinking, but our girl Maddy at the bar made us feel like it was golden hour in Miami! 🥂 No judgment, just pure good vibes and that effortless glam energy. She hyped us up, taught us some fire posting tips, and had us feeling beautiful inside and out. If you ever find yourself at the airport, tired, jet-lagged, or just living your best spontaneous life — find Maddy. She’s the kind of bartender who turns a layover into a mini Miami moment. ☀️🍹💅 #AirportBabeEnergy #MaddyMagic #TooEarlyTooCute
We really enjoyed our experience at Good Luck Restaurant. The atmosphere is effortlessly stylish—classy yet relaxed—and perfect for a date night, celebration, or an evening out with friends. The menu features creative, flavorful dishes served family-style, which makes the meal both interactive and memorable. Our courses came out very quickly, so the dining pace felt slightly rushed at first, and the checkout process took a bit of time afterward. Despite that, the food was outstanding and truly unforgettable. Overall, it was a great experience for the value, and we would happily dine here again.
Good Luck Restaurant has a truly one-of-a-kind vibe—classy, cool, and laid back all at the same time. The food is incredibly unique and packed with flavor, making it a great choice for birthday celebrations, date nights, or simply enjoying time at a stylish bar. The shared, family-style dishes add to the fun and create a memorable dining experience. During our visit, the courses arrived very quickly, which made the meal feel a bit rushed, and it took a little longer than expected to receive our bill and finalize payment. Even with that, the overall experience was excellent for the price, and the flavors were unforgettable. We will and have definitely returned for another visit!!
Worth every dime. Original and amazing cuisine - nothing average or basic. Shared plates. The atmosphere is warm meets industrial. The service impeccable. If you are looking to be enchanted and impressed - this is your place. I think of Good Luck as our special occasion place - I know it is pricey - but everything is sooooo good!!
Probably the nicest restaurant in Rochester! Dishes are fantastic. very generous portion sizes especially for a fine restaurant. It’s not the kind of restaurant where you spend a ton of money and leave hungry. We eat here a couple times a year. We order like 4 dishes (one being the 32oz bone in ribeye) and it comes to around 300 with 20% tip but you can definitely get out for half of that if not even less. Menu is on the smaller side but a lot of unique dishes that you have never had before and won’t get anywhere else. They had this squash and ricotta cheese dish that we thought stole the show. The food is great but let me tell you about the service.. very professional! They really enhance the experience. So polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Food comes out randomly as it’s prepared with different servers always polite and professional. The setting is in an old factory with very high ceilings. Beautiful patina fills the large room. Very attractive setting. They have a fabulous antique neon clock in the dining room! Parking is convenient they have two large free parking lots that are a short walk to the door plus street parking..never a problem. We went there last night for my wife’s 40th birthday and couldn’t have been happier.
Organized a company Christmas party, held it here. The food was surprisingly good, like I had known it would be good, but it was better than expected. After tip, tax, and drinks, we got out for a little over $100 a person, which is pretty reasonable considering we had a private room. Would definitely come back.
One of the very best restaurants in Rochester. Great food and very fun social atmosphere. Portions are for sharing. The Good Luck Burger is huge and everyone at your table can enjoy. Menu is creative and entrees are made with the freshest, locally sourced foods. You won’t be disappointed!
The server Kim was so sweet and knowledgeable. The food was very quick but I did come during the week and made reservations so not much waiting was needed. The food was great but the tiramisu was phenomenal!!! Best IV ever had in my life! That homemade scoop of creamy ice cream with it just made the dish. Overall great night and great food.
Everything was absolutely perfect. Celebrating a special occasion with both of my sons and the food did not disappoint. As a chef myself,it is hard to be impressed across the board, but hey nailed it. Chefs dishes were designed beautifully and executed perfectly, tasted amazing. Server was friendly yet professional, educated and attentive. Even the "bus" girl was a delight and excellent. Will be back and hopefully visiting the sister restaurant that they have. Be proud of yourselves in a hard industry.
I was very thankful that Ralph mentioned the special of braised bone-in veal shank. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The meal, ambience, and service were all top notch. The carmaeraderie of the crew was contagious. My server Ralph was attentive but not intrusive. This was a five-star experience all around!
Easily one of the best restaurant’s in Rochester! The service was top tier! The wait staff was super attentive, knowledgeable and very efficient. Since this was an anniversary dinner we tried several different cocktails from the menu, all were excellent! I highly recommend the 32oz Rib eye, Chicory salad, Cacio e Pepe (pasta dish) to name a few. We will definitely be coming back!
One of my favorite places when visiting Rochester. Seasonal menu, fresh and delicious. Not afraid of creating new dishes or revamping classic and gotta say they do it quite well. One of the best cocktail menus too! And the service? Always great. Did I expect the lamb tagine to be a shank? Yes. But was I disappointed? Only a little bit because every spoonful of the lamb and coscous was so good.
Had zero expectations (was there for a work trip) and was absolutely surprised. I only took pics of the pizza, but great dishes all around and excellent cocktails. The pizza was a Roman style, leaning more toward a focaccia. Very good bake, the undercarriage was crisp along with the edges, very nice crumb, simple and and clean sauce, high quality cheese. The cheese was not just mozzarella, it was mixed with a fontina or blue cheese which gave it a bit of a funky flavor, which wasn’t my fav but still good and unique. Def worth a visit here
First visit. Ample parking. Reservation at 5. Seated at 5:10, after a drink at the bar. Drinks, ok, pricey. Ordered several items, Persimmon Tartine, Scallops w/Fennel Salad, Truffled Mushroom Ragu, Oxtail Ragout(yes, that’s spelled correctly:), and finally, Chocolate Truffle Cake for dessert. Every food item arrived as stated on the menu…correct textures/flavors/temperatures. Portions were a perfect size for sharing, with flavor combinations perfect! We could find no fault with any dish…and that’s quite rare! Service was as hoped without over or under attention. Again, something that is hard to come by these days. The execution from start to finish was spot on, and for a busy Friday night, that’s saying something! Expectations met/exceeded!
Parking on site is easy. Had a drink at the bar waiting for my reservation on a Saturday night, friendly staff made me a secret drink menu item, the Cathy, delightful and refreshing vodka (not pictured) 10/10, also had Saturn and easy friend (Strong!). Food was refreshing, great flavor. Loved the unique combination of the gem salad. Honestly the pork bolognese stole the show, that’s all you need to order! The sea bass we waited a long time for and this was unfortunately way too salty, for $42 especially. Overall a great date night. Thanks to our server who gave us good recommendations.
Loved this place. We had the burger, the double chicken fries, the duck breast, and the ricotta sacchettoni. It was all great. The chicken was the most tender and delicious chicken I've ever had. The duck was very good, but honestly not better than the chicken. Both of them were served on a really tasty bed of some pureed sauce. The fries were perfectly done, and extremely delicious. Oh, and the fancy sauce, which I believe they said was ketchup, mayo, and brandy, was really amazing. The burger was great, it was well seasoned, but in a way that really complemented the beef, not overpowered. Their homemade ice creams were also very well done, with really good and unique flavors. Cocktails were also different but very well done.
Stopped in for a craft cocktail on the way to dinner around the corner. The atmosphere is really cool and current. Staff were professional and friendly. Drinks were well made and appetizers were excellent. Highly recommended and we can’t wait to return for dinner. Definitely need reservations for dinner.
Good Luck is always one of my absolute favorite restaurants to go to in the city, and i always choose it for my birthday dinner! amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. Everything is served family style, so it’s a great opportunity to try a bunch of dishes. order the good luck burger- you will never, ever be disappointed. the burger- cooked and seasoned to perfection. the good luck “fancy sauce”? insane. iconic. incredible. I want to buy it by the gallon and put it on everything. service is always impeccable, friendly, and prompt, and the servers are extremely knowledgeable. one of the best restaurants in Rochester!!
Delicious food with an absolutely outstanding staff. Was absolutely taken care of--the meals may be family style but so was the service XO

Great welcome, great service, and great food. Especially the Halibut special with Red Lentils on the side.

This place is an absolute MUST! Service, food, ambiance, drinks. Their burger is out of this world, do don't skip if you're ever in Rochester

Good luck is a cozy restaurant, ideal to go with friends and have shared platters. We tried several dishes: the calamarata was good; the chicken and the eggplant were great and really tasty; the oxtail was okish, not my favourite. There is a great selection of draft beers. For dessert, we had the chocolate pie a la mode (i.e. with ice cream on top). The pie was okish, the ice cream quiet meh. The staff was very kind and professional. Overall, we enjoyed our time there and I would recommend Good Luck.
Pretty decent experience overall. can’t say I’d go back twice but definitely glad I gave it a try!
Small menu selection and busy place if you go at dinner time without a reservation. We got seated by a small table in front of the bathroom. However, the food and drinks were phenomenal. Ordered braised oxtail and a pasta dish with small pieces of duck inside. They were incredibly flavorful. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful GIANT burger with these thin little yummy fries. The buzz lite water melon cocktail 🥰🥹 made me feel like I sipped on summer in a cup. The low lighting is a vibe very bromantic. Excellent service, excellent food. The steak was very very very fatty, 😣 maybe idk much about steak but that wasn't very high qualitaaaay. It was fat tayyyyy. But over All 10/10 reccomendddd the bathroom has burning candles everywhere and mirrors. Chefs kissy kisssss
3 for the service. 5 for the food. Food was one of the top experiences of my life. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Flavors and combinations come alive and get to experience food like never before. We were told a 10 minute wait and waited almost 20 minutes. Got sat in the corner and didn’t get drinks for even water for over 20 more minutes. My wife and I almost left and we were HANGRY like none other. There must have been a mix up and we had to go ask a server to be attended too.

The atmosphere here is beautiful, the drinks are great and the service is excellent. The food and menu needs improvement. The menu has way too many carb focused or vegetarian/vegan options and not enough options with protein. The portions huge and made to be shared. But the issue is it just felt like the items on the menu don’t pair well with eachother either. I think they need to change up the menu a bit and improve on their food. This is a wonderful place to come to for drinks and apps because the drinks were delicious! But definitely not the place to come to if you wanted a fine dining type experience while celebrating a special occasion.
Got a recco from ROC foodie saying this was the best in town. Went without reservation (don't go without cause it gets packed). Had to sit at bar, behind a pillar haha... lesson learned. It was busy, so understandably service wasn't great. Ordered the $32 burger platter and it tasted OK and had a big portion but was too cold to enjoy. Cocktails were OK nothing ground-breaking. Decided to give them another chance yesterday, so got in at opening 4:30 to try the sit-at-table and warm food experience... but informed us they don't seat or take orders until 5pm, which meant I wasn't eating for another hour... went to Nosh down the street and it was another banger of a meal.
Usually this place has excellent service, tonight was completely different. We waited an extremely long time for our food, we got half of our food an hour before the other half. I understand this type of service is “delivered as it’s ready” but we got the exact same items delivered an hour apart from the others. We’ve never had this problem before. I am disappointed that this was a celebratory dinner for myself with my family.
I'm baffled by the general opinion of the restaurant. Firstly, nothing besides the flavorless carbonara was bad, per se. But it is massively overpriced and overhyped. The burger is nothing special. Served with a few slices of cheese, veggie slaw, and a simple ketchup+mayo sauce, there is nothing about this experience that is worth $30. The fries are the worst kind of fries (the tiny, thin, short fries that feel like the bottom of a Wendy's fry carton). The carbonara is a flavorless mess. I'm shocked that I spent over $20 on that... The chicken riggies are good. But yet again, the price is not justified by the meal. If they increased the portion by 50%, I could see it being worth it. The best part of the experience was the homemade ice cream. That is something I think is special and worth the money. Overall, this is not a bad restaurant, but it is heavily overpriced.
I’ve heard people rave about Good Luck since moving to the area, and was very excited to try it myself; after finally visiting last night, though, I had a very mixed dining experience. The good: Our server was great, our orders came out quickly, and the food was very good. We tried the brussels sprout salad (loved the dressing, wish the brussels sprouts weren’t so difficult to cut/eat), the burger (flavorful, loved the crispy edges on the meat and that the bun was well-roasted to avoid sogginess), and bucatini (delicious; definitely the standout of the night). The bad: We waited over 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, and the bar area for waiting was crowded and uncomfortable. The dining room was very loud, and there was a rowdy bar vibe that was a strange fit for the menu, decor, and price point. The main letdown was the cocktails, though. We tried two drinks (Black Cat Tea and Birds Aren’t Real)—mine was watery tasting and had an overpowering dusting of cinnamon on top, and the Black Cat Tea tasted off-balance, like it was missing something. The cocktail menu looked really interesting and was the thing we were most excited about—maybe if we picked different drinks we would have enjoyed them more, but the ones we ordered sounded delicious on paper. Overall, our meal at Good Luck was not *bad* by any stretch. We enjoyed our food and our server, and everything was presented really nicely. But with many other spots in Rochester that offer unfailingly creative food, delicious drinks, and a warmer, cozier ambience, Good Luck is someplace I’m glad I’ve check off my list but don’t know if I’ll visit again.
I am overwhelmed with emotion to write this review. I use google regularly to determine where I will dine for the night!!! If Google says it’s good and what I mean by good is 4.5 Stars are above then I know the quality of the food and the level of customer service are going to be executed at a high level. So fast forward to me selecting to dine at Good Luck. They are rated 4.7 stars on Google. I looked at the customer reviews and photos and it looked and sounded amazing. I approach the venue and the decor on the outside is absolutely beautiful. There are vines partially covering the building and some really cool art studios above. I walk up and the receptionist is so friendly. She even waits while my wife and I take some photos. We are blown away at this NYCesque restaurant here in Rochester. We are seated by the bathroom at this high table that was sooo sticky, my sleeve kept getting attached. There was a small candle at the table but other than that there was no light, I had to use my phone to see the menu. The waiter comes over, who is also the bartender. He doesn’t introduce himself. He just comes over and ask us what we want. My wife and I had not dined there previously so we were not well versed in the menu. We select the 1lb burger and the fried chicken. Before I was done giving my order the server leaves, goes back to the bar and starts making drinks. He comes back 10 minutes later to complete our order. 🤦🏽♀️ He didn’t ask us if we wanted anything to drink, if we had any questions about the menu, or even if we needed anything. We wait about 20 minutes for our food and only one meal comes out. We are starving so we dig in and OHHHH MANNNN the burger was amazing. The fries DELICIOUS. The presentation, the sauce, everything about it made me lick my fingers and smile. Our server must have heard my grumblings about the unpleasantness of the service and asked us to move to the bar. We quickly agreed and we were so happy we did. Our entire experience at this restaurant had totally changed. It went from a 1 star to I can see why they have 4.7 stars but it shouldn’t take a seat change. The lighting got immensely better, my view was no longer a wall but a view of the bar and kitchen. I got to interact with the staff who were so attentive but not at that table in the corner. The entire restaurant should receive the same equitable service and hence why I gave a 3. I will return soon Good Luck!!
Made a reservation over a month in advance with some friends. Have been wanting to come here for some time as I previously dined nearly 10+ years ago and remember having a phenomenal meal with huge sharing portions. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly but It did take almost 15 minutes for us to get our drinks. We ordered several dishes and a couple rounds of drinks. Everything tasted phenomenal, however, the portions have drastically gotten smaller since I dined previously several years ago but of course pricing hasn’t changed. A $400 bill for four people and a couple of us left not completely full… As much as the food was delicious, I don’t think we will be back.
I love Good Luck and have been enjoying their food for years. However, they’ve drastically reduced the amount of french fries that come with their burger to the point where there’s barely enough to share. It’s a noticeable reduction, while the price of the meal remains the same. Really hoping they will either increase the price and go back to how they used to serve the meal, or simply serve the meal how it’s been prepared for years. The burger is a staple at their restaurant.
This was our first time visiting Good Luck! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered a beer and a cocktail which were both very good. For food, we had a mushroom ragu dish which was creamy and well seasoned. It was a little more tangy than we would have liked. For entree, we shared a halibut dish. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good as well. Our only complaint is that while we were told the dishes tend to be bigger since they were meant to be shared, both the pasta and the fish were quite small. When sharing among two people, we each got only a few bites of each dish. We felt like for the price, the portions could have been a little more generous. But overall, we enjoyed the dinner.
This used to be one of my go to spots! I still love their burger and fries but the menu quality has decreased over the years. Their clientele seems to have shifted, I would not visit this venue lat…

The space and building is beautiful, but that is where the draw to return to ends. The price of food and drink are wildly overpriced. It feels like a place that really wants to be a trendy spot in western NY but misses the mark for me.
The place is cool and full of young people. Looks trendy and is almost full every day. We decided to give it a try and did not like it. We end up paying $50 each for a meal that deserved $30 at the most. Menu is small and what we tried was really regular. The best was the chocolate dessert

Overrated, bad service, over priced. The reviews of this place makes it seem like the next Michelin restaurant. Unfortunately it is very much overrated. Parking is difficult already to start. Atmosphere overall is ok and it does have ok decor, but unfortunately that's about all this place offers For whatever reason the staff seems to be intentionally unfriendly or aloof, and on top of that they were very quiet, almost difficult to hear. This is a loud place so it's quite bad from a service point of view. Food is extremely expensive as one can see. Despite the high price, the food isn't good and portion sizes are even worse. The lamb dish was super small and you can see from the picture. Cost of a whooping $34 and the dish barely had any lamb! Maybe a bite or two! The rest is just sauce and Couscous, which are not expensive. So what is with the exorbent price??? The gnoki dish is marginally better as it had more than a few bites of short ribs. Still the portion size is small and overall it's pretty mediocre for the price. Worst part is we were told by the staff that the portion size for one dish is enough for two people, which was patently untrue... Somehow they managed to mess up green tea ☕! It tastes very strange. It almost had a bitter taste to it and the glass was too small for the tea bag. This restaurant is only good in terms of vibes and atmosphere, and that's it. Very sad! We had to go to another restaurant afterwards.
Should be "good luck in getting a good meal." That is if you if you like lighter fare that is more vegetarian friendly. Completely baffled by the glowing reviews. Maybe the 20 somethings that seem to be the main customers are too busy drinking and looking around to know or notice the food/prices are not good. We had a reservation but we were (politely) placed at a high top table in the back to wait for 20 minutes and get an overpriced overly sweet drink (that the waitress somehow thought was on the lighter side and was not). It had strawberry in it, vodka, elderberry, etc. When we were seated we got the organic salad, that smelled like acetone, which indicates the oil had likely gone bad. Also had a bitter taste that was not the arugula. The mussels were OK tasting but there were only like 12 of them, and in this shallow bowl, with a drizzle of sauce and covered with what looked like a garnish of cilantro or parsley, not the usual mussels in a pot with sauce, generously immersed. Very scant for $20. Then the final disappointment, instead of getting the pizza I got the zucchini dish, which, though I asked the waitress if it was lighter than the pizza and she said yes or about the same, was deep fried or as she said in defense, pan seared, but it was breaded and oily and covered with some yellow sauce. I had actually mentioned that I had a bad pizza the night before somewhere else that was covered with some orange sauce, but I guess she did not take note. Not edible, not lite. Luckily she took it way and did not bill us. The pizza my friend ordered was bland. Just wow. It was really bad and I would not go back.
