This was just want we needed after an intense gym workout! Steps away from LA fitness & with some healthy & flavorful options. The rice bowl was was legitimately perfect. Everything was cooked perfectly, the chicken was moist and tender. The chimichurri sauce was something I’d buy in a store & pour on everything I eat. They were great about making adjustments & adding different types of grains, great service all around. This place deserves all 5-stars!
Closest Kosher Alternative to Chipotle Chimichurri does a good job of breaking the Kosher restaurant mold, offering food that tastes fresh and healthy. Competitively priced for Kosher Options. Recommend the Original Bowl (formerly known as the Portuguese Rice Bowl) and the Embrulho Chicken Burrito.
So much fun, great food, fast, nice amount of sauces, big portions, really unique side dishes, we liked it very much
Chimichurri leaves me utterly delighted and craving for more each and every time! From the moment you step inside, the tantalizing aroma of sizzling chicken over a real wood charcoal fire sets the tone for an unforgettable adventure. Its comfort food packed with a protein punch! Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the chicken. Oh boy, where do I even begin? Cooked to perfection over an open fire, Chimichurri's chicken is a flavor explosion unlike any other. The authentic Portuguese style of barbecuing ensures that every bite is infused with smoky goodness and succulent juiciness. Now I'm getting hungry again and its a shame its the next morning and they aren't open yet lol. So gather your friends, or go on a solo binge and bring your appetite, and prepare to embark on a flavor fiesta unlike any other. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
That’s my first time dinner and I’m out of town! Before I looked at reviews…everyone loved it! But, I asked my father about Chimichurri and he doesn’t(maybe talked about difficult out of parking). So, I told my father that I wanted to try and had a charcoal chicken with green beans and potato wedges(supposed mashed potato)…SO DELICIOUS! Hoped I would come back again.
Third time eating here. I think it is the best fried chicken I ever had. The sides are decent. Make sure to get the wings. They recently raised prices it used to be more affordable. I don't like how one sauce is 50 cents. If I am paying 20 dollars for a meal I think it is fair to get more then one complimentary sauce. Overall I would eat here once a month it is very good. Thanks guys.
The food is great here, I go for the fried chicken and the charcoal chicken.. I go for the orzo and whatever else they have.. the food is great.. not to mention they recently expanded the place so it's much bigger. The place is is very clean and tidy..the staff is warm and welcoming and the place is overall worth the visit. This place is the perfect place to bring your family, friends or to solo dine or take out. Bottom line.. I would surely reccomend
Great prices, great food, staff is friendly and helpful. Chimichurri is a nice little unassuming restaurant. Seeing it from the street you'd never guess how good it is. The ingredients are all fresh and cooked to perfection and there are a wide variety of delicious sides to choose from. Great food for the whole family.
Very convenient location and fast service. The older gentleman at the counter taking our orders was super nice which helped us be patient while he struggled to put in our orders. The food was fanta…
Excellent place for a food option. I definitely would recommend the Portuguese bowl with Chimchurri sauce on it. I travel from Brooklyn just to get bowl.
Food here is incredibly fresh and the portions are large I do take out from time to time and the chicken is excellent here.\n\nI've enjoyed their salads and their wraps as well as their kebabs!
Very very good fried chicken - taste is different and food is prepared well and clean.
Small casual joint with above average charcoal grilled chicken (and more) with lots of sides all served cafeteria style. The food was pretty good, especially for the price. Seating is tight although it looks like they might be expanding next door. Parking is even worse with a tiny lot directly on Rockaway Blvd. so you have to wait for traffic to move in order to get in or out of any space. Definitely worth a try...
Chimichurri in Queens was a decent experience overall. They offer two different menus, one more Mediterranean style and the other leaning Latin, so I tried a mix of shawarma plates and burritos for the office. The portions were good and the food was still enjoyable even though I ate later than everyone else. Some of the flavors were different than expected, with curry notes that caught me a bit off guard, but nothing was bad. I did not try everything, so I would still be open to coming back again if I am in the area, even if it is not a place I would specifically seek out.
The fried chicken was delicious! We got the dark mean and it was really good. The Ratatouille and coleslaw were ok. The fries weren't soggy and the salad was good. The food was warm, NOT hot. They are very cheap with table wear and sauces... They knew we came in with 3 people, ordered a salad and the half chicken to share and only gave us 2 plates and sets of silverware until we asked, additional, they charged for any extra sauce... We got 4 pieces of chicken and only give you one small container of sauce with it ... It should have come with 2... Since you get one container with 2 pieces of chicken. The dining area was nice big and clean. They don't have any soap/paper towels in the bathroom but there are sinks with both right outside the restrooms.
Ordered from DoorDash: The main dish, Portuguese Rice Bowl with chicken, was excellent. This should be a 4.9 star rating simply because the plantains missed the mark. Granted, sweet plantains can be finnicky, but if someone would've tested one they would've seen it was underdone and hard. Either it wasn't ripe enough or the outside burned before the inside cooked. Forgivable because the main dish was indeed excellent! The side sauces; chimichurri, mango habanero and the piri piri were all fantastic as well. Will definitely order from here again and try some other sides.

service was good but they had kept rushing things, food was good as always keep up the great work!
Pretty tasty, but the price could be better, it was very clean inside as well. My order took a little long to make but the staff was decent.
I got the grilled chicken bowl.. Everything tasted so fresh! The green sauce is to die for. Definitely a to go to spot for me from now on
2 stars for their Chimichurri sauce only. Ordered delivery which was quick. I ordered the rice bowl with fried chicken and when it arrived it was cold and the food was oily you could visible see it…
This place used to be so much better The food here is really good— possibly some of the best fast food in the five towns. I love the rice bowls and the embrulho. But the service here detracts from the dining experience. Unlike other restaurants around here, they charge money for sauces. Unlike other restaurants around here, they don’t offer any lunch special deals. The service is slow in-store, and one of the workers is incredibly rude. I asked her if I could just pay to add vegan cheese to my burger because I’ve done it here before, and she accused me of lying and told me off in a rude tone. It’s funny because I’ve seen other reviewers mention her unprofessional behavior as well. Also, they didn’t even have forks today. They gave me a spoon to eat my fried chicken. The stinginess of this restaurant is making me appreciate coming here less and less every time… (This photo of the rude worker was from a different reviewer, but is the one I was talking about).

Eight Years of Loyalty—Now Sadly, the Flame Has Gone Out My wife and I have been loyal customers of Chimichurri for nearly eight years—long before we were married. I first discovered it while working at St. John’s Hospital in Far Rockaway, when colleagues ordered it for a late shift. The food blew me away, and I couldn’t wait to share it with my wife, who came from Miami at the time. She normally doesn’t like chicken, but after her first bite she said it was the best chicken she’d ever tasted. For years, we both agreed. Back then, Chimichurri was a cozy little spot—half the size it is now, with only a few tables, a warm atmosphere, and an owner who genuinely cared about the food and his guests. The charcoal aroma, the perfectly crisp skin, the juicy meat—it was everything you wanted from comfort food with pride behind it. The lines were always long, and everyone waited happily because they knew it would be worth it. Unfortunately, as the restaurant expanded, the quality began to slip little by little. Prices went up, sauces started coming with extra charges, and the food just didn’t have the same heart. Still, we kept coming back, hoping the magic would return. Yesterday, after driving an hour and a half through traffic from Manhattan (we now live five and a half hours away), we stopped by one more time for old times’ sake. Sadly, this visit confirmed what we feared—the chicken was cold, the sides were cold, and the flavors that once made this place special were gone. We finished our meal out of hunger, not enjoyment. Reading through the reviews now, I notice that many newer guests seem satisfied, but longtime customers like us can tell the difference. The heart of Chimichurri—the passion and warmth that built its reputation—feels lost in the pursuit of expansion. We’re grateful for all the memories this place gave us, but this visit marked the end of our journey here. Maybe one day, if the flame is rekindled, we’ll come back. For now, we’re saying goodbye to what was once our favorite chicken in New York. The one thing that remained, is the tasty chimichurri sauce.
Ordered food for 5 people, everyone’s dish came beside my own. I was charged (they said they refunded). Drove all the way to Long Island from Brooklyn for this food, and came back without my food. Very disappointed Was not refunded yet as of 8/20
Since the new owners took over the chicken is bland and tasteless. We loved going here when the original price went had it.

I like the place and the food is great but lately the food got expensive and portion got very small.

I used to really like Chimichurri, but the food has gotten much worse. The guy there constantly tries to push the Yerushalayim mix, and it’s honestly the nastiest thing I’ve had. He dumped in a bunch of random spices, made it way too spicy, and claimed it was a good balance of different meats. There was no beef at all—mostly turkey, which felt very cheap. This really upset me. I paid about $30 and could have had a simple sandwich that would’ve tasted much better. He promised it would be very tasty and well balanced, but it was disgusting and nothing like what he described.
Terrible service from this girl. She treated me badly. If you don't want to work, look for another place. Or if you didn't have a good day, don't treat people who have nothing to do with you badly. I simply wanted her to help me organize and she treated me terribly. I won't return to this place.
