Posto molto carino e cibo fantastico.
Grazie
Salt’in bocca molto originale!
Currently on our second visit, and the food is amazing, with fresh ingredients and authentic Italian flavors. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. A fantastic Italian restaurant. We can’t wait to come back again!
We went this taverna thru my friend recommendation and all was amazing. As whole family, we love everything. Food was amazing and super tasty. Claudia was super friendly. The dish she recommended, was absolutely different and super tasty. Orange wine was also extra outstanding next to our food. I am so glad we could able to try this taverna.
I can not praise this restaurant high enough. We first came here in May 2023 and have returned with friends and family for both lunch and dinner. We have even sent friends when they were visiting Rome. The food is always and only seasonal dishes. The incomparable Claudia greets you like friend and family- it is a cozy unassuming restaurant that belies all the celebrity pictures from their visits. food wine service and ambiance are second to none
ChatGPT suggested this restaurant and it did not disappoint!! We arrived at opening for lunch and we were able to get a table for 2 right away. Great experience, starting with a warm welcome following by a delicious burrata and fresh tomatoes antipasta, the pasta special for the day, followed by a lemon dessert. The Aperol Spritz was the best we’ve had so far in Rome! Absolutely delicious! Thank you for an amazing lunch.
Dinner was magnificent. The gentleman who told us the specials is a born salesman. His description of each dish had our mouths watering. Although we had already decided what we were ordering, his wonderful descriptions convinced us to go with 2 of the specials. The paccheri with pork cheek and fig was the perfect compliment of sweet and savory. Paccheri with sausage and crispy zucchini in a light red sauce was full of flavor and textures. Both were absolutely delicious. We also had the Roman roast pork and veal meatloaf. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was rich. Veal meatloaf had a wonderfully mild flavor and was silky smooth with a hint of sweetness. Both dishes were phenomenal. I have to mention that their bread was absolutely the best bread we had on our 3 week trip! Service was excellent. The entire wait staff and the managers were incredibly attentive and welcoming. 5 star experience.
I would highly recommend making reservations at this restaurant. I was only able to get a 9:30pm reservation with 2 days notice and had to put down my credit card details for a hefty penalty in case I cancelled. Based on my lone visit, it seems that a good portion of the clientele was Italian-speaking with some tourists sprinkled in. This restaurant is clearly popular with a long track record based on the numerous pictures of celebrities dining here and the reservation cancellation penalty. Every dish we had was excellent. With that being said, the standouts were the cacio e pepe which was probably the least salty of all the Roman pastas we ate in Rome. I generally found all of the big 4 Roman pastas at various restaurants to be very salty, but this version was just right in terms of salt levels. They were also nice enough to split the portion into 2 since we were sharing. The frying technique and batter on the mixed fried starter was delicate, light, airy, and not greasy. The side of sweet and sour eggplant was also very good! It reminded me of a Sri Lankan eggplant/brinjal moju dish. The flavor profile is sooo different from traditional Italian flavors which makes me wonder if a Sri Lankan chef brought the recipe to this restaurant. In general, the cooking technique and flavors were all a cut above the other restaurants we ate at while in Rome. This is a must-visit if you're in the Monti neighborhood. Just remember to book ahead!
Absolutely wonderful experiences dining there twice in the last two weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed a fresh pasta dish with catch of the day sea bass, oranges, and pistachios the first time as well as a fantastic pistachio & chocolate ricotta cheesecake. More recently had the ravioli with burrata, anchovies, squash blossoms, and salted fish roe, the baccala allá romana (salted cod) and the same cheesecake. Just tremendous. Great service from Claudia and Melvin. I just wish the patio/terrace seating was bigger!!
We booked a table for 8pm but as the dinner service opens at 7:30pm they allowed us to sit down early. This place was buzzing immediately with locals and tourists, families, couples and some solo. It was such a lovely atmosphere, I’ve also never seen a restaurant turn so many people away, I estimate at least 15 couples were turned away in the space of an hour simply because there was no space, I recommend booking. My wife and I shared a cacio e pepe for a starter, simply to try this restaurants attempt. I can say you will not be disappointed, this was hands down the best one I’ve had in Rome. For main I had traditional Roman Veal dish and my wife had a sea bass (catch of the day) special. I’ve never seen my wife devour food so quickly, I’d assumed she was just hungry but she couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was. My Veal was a little bit too fatty for my personal preference, however the flavours were very nice. On the side we had a side called ‘Caponata’? (I think) and it’s basically a sweet and sour aubergine with bread crumbs, our kind waitress says that this has origins from Sicily and this is their take on it. What I would say is that this outshine the cacio e pepe and was our favourite food of the evening, if not our trip. I will have to try and make it myself when I get home 🤞. Overall a really enjoyable evening and our most enjoyable in Rome so far, a hard place to beat!
We had a lovely meal here with food that was both delicious and authentically prepared. The ambiance was charming, and the walls adorned with photos of celebrities who’ve dined here added a fun, memorable touch. While we enjoyed the attentive service, we noticed that other tables were informed of the daily specials, which we weren’t told about. Despite that, we left satisfied and impressed with the quality of the dishes. This place definitely has a special allure and is clearly a favorite among locals and celebrities alike. Would highly recommend!

We were lucky to find this place and lucky to get a table not having booked. The food and service were excellent, the owner takes the orders and he was charming and helpful. Well recommended.
You are not going to find food or service better than this. Attentive, knowledgeable, welcoming, highly recommended by locals and the food and wine was just fabulous.

We called here for lunch on Sunday on the recommendation of rhetorical hotel. It was so good. The service was fab, the food was amazing and the house wine delicious.
Great food, great service, great prices. Best gluten free lunch we had in Rome and we'd encourage everybody to seek it out and enjoy as we did, sadly though it was our last day before we found it.
A hidden gem in Rome. An authentic Italian meal, with fantastic service throughout. I’d highly recommend the carbonara and the artichoke. We cannot wait to visit again soon!
Bagni puliti. Da frequentare
It was a nice experience. The restaurant was crowded with local, mainly which was a good sign. The food is delicious, mostly the pasta. The service was ok but could have been better. I don't like to compare but it seemed that the waiter consider more certains table than ours. The atmosphere was genuinely italian from the decoration to the authentic poor italian accoustic (it was noisy). I recomand as it is for sure not a trap for tourists but the portion of the food are very short...
Thanksgiving dinner with my cugina at La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali, considered one of the best restaurants in Roma. They were actually serving a turkey dinner with chestnut & sausage stuffing, which she had! (I tasted it, and it was very good!) I opted for the lamb because it is my absolute favorite, and Romans are renowned for their lamb. Plus, the restaurant is off of Via Agnello, which I took as a sign! We started with the fried artichokes (of course). Again, something the Romans are known for and my favorite vegetable. We had a bottle of an excellent Susumaniello from Puglia (the other half of my roots). And we finished with a delicious ricotta and pistachio torta.
A cozy family-run trattoria just steps from the Colosseum. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, and service is welcoming. I tried the tartare with dumplings: the tartare was fresh but a bit flat in flavor, while the dumplings were not al dente—overall underwhelming. On the other hand, the carbonara sauce was simply the best I’ve ever tried—creamy, balanced, with pecorino perfectly tuned and guanciale cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was slightly overcooked, which kept the dish from being flawless. Still, for the quality of the sauce and the overall experience, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Pochi tavoli, più o meno 50 posti a sedere all'interno.
Prezzo giusto
See below for individual dish rating. We went here because of Pasta Queen. Ordered the Porchetta Ripassata(Roman roast pork) as starter. Main: Cacio e Pepe with Truffle, Cabonara Vignarola. Dessert: Zabaione custard and dessert of the day, Baba (sponge cake with cream and top of with strawberries) Verdict: Roman roast pork:⭐️⭐️ •Nothing to shout about. Cacio e Pepe: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Value for money. Thanks Pasta Queen!! Cabonara Guanciale: ⭐️⭐️ •Too salty Zabaione:⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Light and airy Baba:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Drizzle with rum. Taste like heaven! Service: The waiter was lack of enthusiasm in explaining the dishes. We overheard there were special dishes of the day after we placed the order, but we were not informed. Room for improvement.

First of all, the moment we arrived at this restaurant was 💩! So, my experience at La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali was unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Rome, which is a shame given its reputation. We arrived on time for our reservation, and even though a server made eye contact with us multiple times, we were left standing at the entrance for a good 10 minutes without any acknowledgment. It was an uncomfortable and unwelcoming start. Once we were finally seated, the poor service continued. We asked for a bottle of water right away, but it didn't arrive until our appetizer was served, which took quite a while. The food was the biggest letdown. The fried platter we ordered as an appetizer was just okay; the breading was a bit too thick. I understand that a traditional carbonara is salty from the pecorino and guanciale, but what we were served was on another level. The saltiness was so overpowering that it was almost inedible. We ended up drinking an absurd amount of water for the rest of the afternoon just to compensate. We also ordered a chicken dish, which was incredibly dry and not juicy in the slightest. Overall, for a restaurant that is so well-known, the experience was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The service was neglectful and the food was poorly executed. I would not recommend it and will certainly not be going back.
