We have been coming here for years! I was at their first opening in Fair Oaks in the late 80's! Irasshaimase! To everyone who walked in! We had a restaurant in same plaza. Haven't look at any other Japanese restaurant since! Well maybe a few.. lol . But they all don't ompare. Food is good. Sushi is quality! Service was great. Wife got to spin the wheel for her birthday! Only negative was that it was cold! Needed a jacket. The air was blowing on us!.

Great food options, good selection of sashimi sushi and rolls. The sake and beer selection was good too. The platters were a great choice. Highly recommend Platter A. The roll options were great too. Pretty extensive. Oh, and their wasabi has great flavor; very horseradish-forward.

The Mikuni at Fountains is a very beautiful restaurant in an excellent location. We were here for a party and the food, drinks, and services were fantastic. All the sushi rolls, Nigiris, Gilled items, and dessert items were the best. The room for our party was excellent and the service was top notch!

This is our second time dining here and we will be back for a third time and more. So fresh and delicious. Service is on point as well. It gets busy so come early or you may have a wait. Their hand rolls are delightful! Try two or three when you go. Decor is upper scale and the place is nice and clean.

Food is always fresh, consistent and spot on. Honestly my favorite sushi spot in all of the Sacramento area. I know some of you think Kru is good but Mikunis is by far superior! Been going here since Ioved to California from the east coast and will be coming back for manyore years.

Finding The Force

This is my first time visiting the Mikuni sushi in the fountains. Overall, my group and myself had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was super clean, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I didn’t even know I liked raw fish until I ate this sushi. although I have had a lot of practice with cooked sushi. The presentation and the flavors were fantastic, and I think my favorite ward role was the Japanese mafia role. Great atmosphere and food for any time of day.

Mikuni is in danger of losing their small town sushi spot. They have locations all over the greater Sacramento area and all of them are really very good. The sashimi is fresh and melts like butter. Bin bins are no longer in the menu but regardless of which one we visit they never hesitate to prepare a plate. Juan our Sushi chef was great, a little shy but we made it a point to drag him into the experience. Everything we got was served on time including what we ordered from the kitchen. The manager stopped by and chatted with us and was supportive of Juan... as a business owner I can appreciate the care and support they give to their employees.

Amazing service and really fresh food. We were seated quickly and our waiter came to check up on us consistently throughout the meal. I ordered a chicken teriyaki/California roll bento (lunch special), which was filling and tasty. The prices were on the more expensive side but still reasonable. Food quality is way down from what it used to be. Sushi is mostly rice with very little fish. Sashimi Is low grade. Used to be one of the best sushi spots in sacramento but now there are many better options. Service was very good on a busy night.

Our group of six, including children, experienced a series of significant service issues during our recent visit. After waiting 45 minutes for a table, we were seated only to be asked to move to accommodate a larger incoming party. The second table we were moved to was not yet prepared. Following this, one of our ordered appetizers was mistakenly brought to our table; the server abruptly removed the item after we had begun eating it, stating it belonged to another table. While the food was acceptable, the overall service was highly unsatisfactory and the worst I have encountered at this establishment.

Mikuni is expanding too fast. We've been coming to the various Mikunis since 2006 (pro tip: hold the sauce). Today (2025) we were told over phone we could bring our dog and sit on the patio at Fountains locations. When we arrived an hour later, they won't let us sit on the patio, didn't even see the dog. Didn't ask if it was a service dog. They just refused, even after pointing out the phone call. Poor customer service and follow through. Last straw, won't be back to any locations, which is a bummer because their rolls were decent (if you hold the sauces). Say no to 50 mikuni locations. The wait has always been bad. Who doesn't take reservations?
