Very nice place. Great fish good quality and fresh. Service is very good as well. Would come here again.
Clean, well lit, airy, and well thought out. Comfortable space with delicious food. Delicious sushi rice. We had the agedashi tofu, tempura appetizer, black cod lettuce wraps, lobster roll, sushi sandwich roll, chirashi, and yaki salmon donburi. All were tasty, crispy when they should be, and quickly prepared. Standout was the donburi. The tempura was light and not at all oily. I don't believe in broccoli tempura, but my brother liked it. The sweet potato tempura was perfect. Staff was great! Friendly, attentive, and helpful.
This place is very good. The food is very fresh, the staff were great, and the ambiance is gorgeous.
We found the food to be well prepared and tasty. The menu offered a nice variety that included quite a few creative touches, for example: their basic garden salad wasn't basic at all, as it came with a very flavorful onion soy dressing, as opposed to the standard miso dressing found at many Japanese restaurants. Another example was the unexpected use of truffle oil and truffle mayonnaise on a few of their sushi dishes. I also really liked their pork gyoza, which was clearly house made. And, they did a good job with their decor and atmosphere. We are quite happy to have found a new restaurant serving sushi and other Japenese dishes that is a significant step above the others in our area. We will definitely be back!
Went there with my son, food was amazing and presentation. I really like the wireless credit card machine, you pay and your done in 30 seconds.
My family and I love umami. It’s a tradition for us to always come here after one of us returns home from college. Gotta get the black dragon.
Great food have eaten here before For Sushi excellent Fresh, great atmosphere beautifully decorated comfortable
It’s is our third visit and each time we came here is always great. Food is excellent.
Wonderful sushi place with great service and an exquisite interior! Highly recommend the crispy rice and the red dragon roll.
I had the 13 course omakase experience and boy it was an experience the first 6 or 7 dishes were small plates (toro tartare, oysters, soft shell crab and more!) then we finished with nigiri then a hand roll and lastly two desserts. I can’t want to go back. I’d definitely do omakase again for a special occasion and need to try a la carte!
Beautiful place, delicious sushi AND hot food, wonderful service and staff. Great for takeout too.
Amazing service, amazing sushi, amazing atmosphere! Definitely recommend
Our waiter Hang was exceptional, very nice and hospitable. Ambiance very nice! Food very tasty.
Great people and great food…..best lobster roll ever!!!!
Great food and service! 10/10 best sushi around.
Somehow our waitress was even nicer than our food!
Everything was absolutely delicious, the interior design is super unique and pleasant, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be going back
One of the best new sushi places on the island. Restaurant is stunning and the food is phenomenal. Highly Recommended.
Very good. A choice of seating experiences, some very private. Very good sushi, including a vegan roll. Very good friendly service.
Beautiful experience, with amazing service and the best sushi in town!
Wonderful restaurant, great service, and amazing food!
Amazing food, service and ambience. Highly recommend. Decently priced too.
The decor and atmosphere was wonderful. Very modern and pretty. Service was impeccable, very attentive without being over bearing. Food was delicious! Very fresh, and good selection. Definitely will come back :)
My family (husband, me, and my mom) love Umami! We order out at least 1-2x a month and are always satisfied and happy with our orders! Our favorite things in the menu are the Kobe beef dumplings and sushi menu!
Umami Sushi is my new go to spot. The food is very tasty and fresh. I come here often and I love how clean it is. There are a lot of vegetarian options and they’re all amazing.
Welcome to Tribeca! The new decor is absolutely stunning!!! The service is warm attentive and the way service USED to be, the food is absolutely delicious and worth every penny! Definitely my new go to when I’m on the island. Just awesome all around I’ve seen people talk about price and if you want a high end traditional sushi experience this is for you. However their standard rolls are normally priced and honestly for the quality of fish in them, they’re not cheap with the quantity. So you can still have a normal sushi experience here also, sure they’ve pricey items but the menu in it’s entirety is not that way. Great job Umami!
This is one of my favorite restaurants—I come here often. The staff is always welcoming with friendly smiles, and the food is clean, fresh, and delicious. Whether I’m with friends or family, I always have a wonderful time here.
Hand down the best sushi place on Long Island! I would not compare to fine dining omakaze restaurants, but as far as taste goes, it would be very hard do distinguish from NYC high end omakaze places.
The place is beautiful, great atmosphere and ambient music allowing quiet conversation. The staff is very friendly and attentive. And food, you just can’t go wrong, special rolls, appetizers or soups. We will be back soon.
Nice portion of fish in the sushi rolls. Real fresh and delicious. I've been doing myself a disservice with the subpar sushi I've been ordering at other places. I'm glad I tried this place on a whim.
We haven’t visited this place in a while and decided to give it another shot. I love what the new owners did with this place. The food, service, and decor is amazing. This is our new go to sushi spot.
The service here is excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. The sashimi is fresh and reasonably priced, though it’s fairly standard for the cost. However, the tempura was exceptional—far beyond expectations with top-tier quality. Highly recommend trying it!
Was looking for a quick afternoon bites with my family, so sushi and sashimi was decided. Interior design and atmosphere was wonderful. Wait time for the food was reasonable; however, the server seems to be in a rush to clean up our table.
First time eating here. The sushi was delicious. We were very impressed. Even my wife liked it, that's how you know it's good. We'll be coming back
Very atmospheric and attentive staff. I went once years ago and again recently and the design has starkly improved in a short time!
My family and I absolutely love Umami! The sushi is always incredibly fresh, and the service is fantastic. The staff is welcoming and attentive! Highly recommend!
My kids loved going to the previous business on their days off from school and was very sad when it closed. We tried Umami tecently and the service was amazing and the sushi was very fresh! It’s been awhile since I had fresh sushi. I got a big thumbs up from my son and can’t wait to take my other kids. Very nice decor and very welcoming. The prices are a bit high though, like Roslyn high, not Albertson high 😆. Definitely will be back soon!
Absolutely amazing! Delicious food and great service. Very zen atmosphere as well.
Some of the best sushi I have had on Long Island. On top of that the service was over the top.
Superb food served by very warm and professional staff. It is nevey too noisy here, so it is a perfect place to eat and talk comfortably.
The atmosphere here is amazing. It is designed to feel like you are in a serene Japanese garden and it definitely delivers that experience. This is a high end place. The quality of the food and the service matches the price. You get with you pay for here. I tried several appetizers. My favorite was the Miso Black Cod Lettuce Wraps- absolutely delicious and worth the $24 splurge. As my main course, I split the Albertson roll, Chirashi Maki roll, Pink Paradise Roll and Yellow Mango Roll. All of these rolls were delicious and the quality of the ingredients used really stands out. Although my wallet cannot go here every week, I will definitely return for special occasions. Great to have this place in the neighborhood!
Really nice place to get lunch if you like freshly made sushi. The salmon roll was very good and the squid sushi I had was also very good. I also had a tart and refreshing margarita with this, I thought the alcohol content was a bit inconsistent between the drinks I had, but they both tasted very nice. Will be coming again
I have come to this restaurant few times. The fishes here are always fresh. Dishes are delicious. Atmosphere here is Japanese woody feel.
Went for the first time last week. I absolutely love everything here. The food is SO FRESH and the decor is very cute. I would definitely go again!
Had a great experience at Umami. The sushi was excellent — both the tuna and salmon were incredibly fresh, buttery, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality in the fish, and it’s clear they take their sourcing seriously. Everything was well-prepared and balanced, without being overly dressed up. The atmosphere was relaxed but tasteful, and the staff was attentive and professional. For the level of quality, the pricing felt more than fair. Definitely one of the better sushi spots I’ve tried in the area. I’ll be back for sure.
It’s such a nice restaurant!!!! The decor is very elagant and nice. The servers are so kind and sweet. The food is AMAZING. I ate her for my birthday and the fish is fresh and nice. Each dish has high quality. Although the food is a bit pricey it is worth it and I would defiantly come back!!!!
Wow! What a great dinner. Everything was honestly perfect. From the food/cocktails, ambiance and service. We sat in one of the private booths upon request and it was such a great time. Though the food was the most memorable. We ordered quite a few things and everything just hit the spot! Our favorites: -Cod lettuce wraps -Shrimp Shumai -Jalapeño Kampachi -Lobster Udon Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. Looking forward to my next visit.
The best quality Japanese food I've ever had! Also, the service is phenomenal. Happy was the coolest server ever and made my husband and I laugh so much. We would recommend the skirt steak teriyaki skewers, shisido peppers, and you can't go wrong with any of the sushi rolls. 10/10 experience. They deserve a michelin star.
Amazing service! Happy was super funny and sweet. Been here a few times but he doesn’t seem to be here most days, always a great time when we see him!! Looking forward to coming back again :)
It was a total surprise. You cannot really tell from the front and look a little bit like a typical diner but once you get through the door, it will hit you. This place is different. The people is super nice, very friendly and totally courteous. We didn’t know what to expect. We just told him we are not that hungry. Just bring something we can try! And you can tell from the picture it’s four of us. It’s not overfilling and it’s a bit taste of everything. I love this place.
Our new go-to spot. The cooked food is delicious and all of the sushi is incredibly fresh and high quality. The service is always amazing and especially friendly/accommodating towards kids. So happy to have this new spot in our neighborhood.
From the appetizer to the dessert this restaurant can do it all. The sushi was undoubtedly the best I’ve ever had, the pistachio ricotta cake was the best cake ever. The inside was beautiful, although the outside may deceive you. I would highly recommend this place, my son and I kept ordering more. We are so content with this place, even though it’s a 2 hour ride, we will be back. Service was awesome, spaced out the food perfectly, drinks were constantly refilled. Perfection.
Everything here is delicious! Staff is super friendly and accommodating! My husband and I come here on date nights and with the kids, there is ample parking and the decor and ambiance is5 stars
Gorgeous place to have a relaxing dinner. The lady who was our waiter was so nice and attentive with us. She recommended me what should I order based on what I like. Very nice atmosphere. Come here to have your special date, you won’t regret it.
Umami Sushi and Grill is a beautiful spot with wonderful decor — it genuinely feels like you’ve stepped into a more traditional Japanese setting. The atmosphere really elevates the dining experience. The food was very fresh across the board. I especially loved the toro scallion hand roll — it absolutely feels worth ordering. We also had the chirashi and a sashimi combo, and both were excellent, with clean flavors and quality cuts of fish. We were lucky to be seated in a booth, which made the meal even more comfortable and enjoyable. There is parking available, though it’s a bit oddly designed and can feel slightly awkward to navigate. Overall, a great experience — and definitely a place I hope to return to soon.
We’re from Boston and were so happy to discover this truly unique Japanese restaurant. The food is fresh and high quality, and the service was very friendly. We loved the modern Japanese-style decor—everything feels thoughtfully planned. Easy parking is a big plus. Highly recommended!
A beautifully modern sushi spot with exceptional quality and presentation. Every piece of nigiri was fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. The service was fast and friendly. It’s definitely a splurge, but the refined atmosphere and fresh ingredients make it worth it for a special night out.
Service is top notch and the food is absolutely rare to find. An authentic Japanese atmosphere with good service and S tier food. Chefs prepare the food infront of everybody and there's private rooms to eat.
A hidden gem in Albertson. Fresh & high quality foods. Server is friendly. Great atmosphere & a little privacy layout. Love it !
Absolutely incredible. Sushi was fresh, well plated, and delicious. Their specialty rolls were great. Went here for dinner with a few people and decided to get a lot of different variety. Had some things I’ve never eaten before and I have nothing but great things to say. We sat in a booth that was basically a private room and our server was very attentive and food came out very quick. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area.
Absolutely loved this sushi spot! The quality is top-tier—fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The space feels high-end with stunning, modern aesthetics that make the whole experience feel special. The servers were incredibly kind, attentive, and added a warm touch to the upscale vibe. Perfect for a date night or a quiet dinner with friends. There’s an open concept in the back where the sushi masters work giving a little show while preparing your order, which adds a fun touch to the experience. Pricing is fair—I ordered several appetizers, two entrees, and drinks, and the total came out to be on the lower end of $100. Incredible value for the quality. Highly recommend!
The food was incredible everything was so fast and fresh. Our server was also very nice, checked up on us, refilled our water, etc. The ambiance is also very nice and the room we sat in was private and chill. Would definitely recommend coming here to anyone.
New gem on Long Island! Loved the place - amazing fresh sushi with amazing souses, modern cozy atmosphere and welcoming stuff. I definitely will come back! Thank you for bringing the quality spot on the island)
The service was excellent: attentive, friendly, efficient . The seafoods was incredibly fresh and tasty. You can tell they put the quality into their dishes. The environment was unique and enjoyable. Great dining atmosphere.
Very satisfied, good atmosphere. We were party of seven and we had a good meal. Recommend everyone to come to try. Oysters and scallops very fresh. Best sushi around town.
Excellent service and food! Every staff member was very sweet, especially our waiter Happy! He was extremely cheerful and playful!
Nice renovation, clean and very good service , fantastic food, highly recommend! Ideal place for family dinner and friends gathering! We have girls night out , very good time here !

LI's sushi scene has been a major letdown since we left Manhattan, but Unami in our neighborhood is the real deal. The food and service are off the charts. We've had takeout and lunch, and both were awesome, so an Omakase dinner is definitely in our future.
Very satisfied, good atmosphere. We were party of seven and we had a good meal. Recommend everyone to come to try. Oysters and scallops very fresh. Best sushi around town.

Ordered delivery and was blown away by the quality and presentation. The best I've had in the area and the nicest takeout probably ever (including the city!). We are so glad to have found a quality sushi spot that we can order from! Looking forward to dining in soon too.
Been there few times over the past year. Mostly getting sushi. Everything is always very fresh, their specialty rolls are really good, and the regular tuna roll stands out because it’s chunky pieces (not minced), which not many places do.(you can get it both ways) From hot had the shrimp tempura appetizer a couple times—always hot and freshly fried. Drinks from the bar a pretty good.

A very nice restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere and kind, attentive service. The sashimi is fairly fresh and tasty, though sliced a bit thinner than we’re used to. Overall, a pleasant experience and would recommend!
We had such a good time at this restaurant! Service was amazing and quick. The ambience was so cute and stylish! The food was so good and the cucumber appetizer was the best I’ve ever had! Fish was fresh. Overall a great dining experience.
Decor is nice and new inside with variety of seating options (private room, open booth, separate section, sushi bar, etc.). Food tastes solid and has some variety other than just sushi (yakitori, ramen, fried rice, etc.) but prices are comparable to high end sushi place but a bit on the higher side. Quality of sushi and other food is pretty good but be prepared to pay up. So, while I would come back (have also ordered takeout since) in my opinion some small adjustments are needed here. For example, I'm not sure about the dessert it's $8 for literally one scoop of ice cream with little whip cream and few blueberries I mean come on. Never ordering that again.
$9 toll to get into Manhattan means we have to eat locally more (JK!). It was late, we wanted NYC sushi/sashimi, saw good reviews for this place. First time here, we went with the super deluxe sushi, sushi sashimi combo - usually the best barometer for a new sushi place, and the sashimi deluxe. All 3 were fresh and no "white tuna" was served = this is a legitimate sushi sashimi restaurant, not an AYCE sushi buffet. We were still a touch hungry after the 3 entrees and asked for another sushi sashimi combo when the server recommended the "house special sashimi" of nine really attractive, Omakase-ish looking dishes served in a wooden box ($68). No rice included tho', $3 a la carte - all good. Everything tasted proportional to their appearances, which is to say, very yummy 😋. My advice, stick with the sushi sashimi combo, good value to quality quotient. If you go with the "house" options, they are NYC+ priced. The server also recommended the $150/per person Omakase. Maybe we'll try that next time on splurge night. Verdict: approximately $280 with tax, tip, no drinks whatsoever, 3 people, a touch past fair, but acceptable 2025 pricing for what was served. No complaints with service, but $3 a la carte rice for a $68 sashimi was unusual.

ALL GOOD EXCEPT ON NEW RESTAURANT WITHOUT AN AMBIANCE CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE ATTRACTED WITH REASONBLAE PRICES AND ESPECIALLY COCKTAILS. I ORDERED ONE SHOT OF TAQUILA CASA MIGOS REPOSADO AND WAS CHARGED $30 ,THAT'S NOT EVEN UPSCALE RESTAURANTS IN MANHATTAN CHARGES FOR ONE DRINK OF CASA MIGOS . WE ALSO ORDERED 2 APPETIZERS 1 SAKE AND 9 PECIES OF SUSHI AND 8 SASHIMIES AND 2 GREEN TEA ICECREAM TOTAL BILL WAS ASTONISHING $298 + 20% GRATUITY . DEFINITLEY NOT WORTH TO COME BACK ATLEAST NOT FOR US.
We recently had dinner at this restaurant. While the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were generally polite, the overall experience was affected by feeling rushed toward the end of our meal.
I really want to love Umami Sushi in Roslyn — it’s a nice option for Long Island and has potential — but after multiple disappointing experiences, I just can’t justify coming back. Too many times my orders have been wrong, and the takeout quality has been far from ideal, especially at this price point. What’s worse is that when mistakes happen (like forgetting a roll), they don’t make any effort to fix the situation — instead asking you to come back for it. For the cost, I expect better service and attention to detail. Today was the last straw: I ordered a tartar for takeout, and what I got was literally bite-sized. Paying $25 for something that small is despicable and unacceptable. They clearly care very little about their customers, and after too many bad takeout experiences, I won’t give them another chance. Consider yourself warned — order takeout elsewhere.

I have been going to the previous establishments “Hokkaido” and “Sakaya” over the past 20+ years. I was sad to see the restaurant closed after the pandemic. After waiting anxiously for several months with the news of a new Japanese restaurant opening, my family and I could barely wait until they open up. After they finally opened I let several weeks go by to make sure that the restaurant settles in. My family and I went there and unfortunately I have to say that the food was terrible! In my book, when they used over fried/rancid oil that you can taste which was previously used for frying tempura to make the fried rice, says it all. We all tasted the tempura and stale taste of oil that had been over used. What a shame!!!!
WE WERE IN THIS RESTAURANT SEVERAL TIME BEFOER,THEY GAVE CUSTOMER TEE ALWAY FOR FREE.THIS IS COMMOM POLITENESS MANNER IN ASIAN RESTAURANT.BUT LAST WEEK THEY CHARGED FOR $2 PER PERSON WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.
I decided to try this place being new and looks really nice on line: I spent over $120 on my order. The sushi was extremely fishy, and it gave my entire family a bad stomachs ache. Didn’t expect this from a new place. Wasn’t fresh. I’m in such bad stomach pain
I have been eating here with my family. Prior to it being Umami, both prior owners would make a yearly donation to local Nassau County charities when asked. After an expensive and delicious meal, I produced paperwork requesting a gift card donation of any amount to help local tax exempt charities and after having me call back several times, the owner decided he does not want to support local charities in even a small amount gift card. My family will take our business elsewhere because local establishments generally do give a gift card to be part of a raffle basket to help important local charities that deal with food insecurity and other important local causes.
The woman at the front desk with short hair and the manager were extremely rude. I previously had a very pleasant dine-in experience at this location with the servers, which is why I decided to place a pickup order after my visit. Unfortunately, this experience was entirely different and very disappointing. Due to the unprofessional behavior displayed by both the staff member and the manager, I will not be returning to this location. Staff should be properly trained to treat customers with basic respect. The manager guy was stating it will take 3-5 minutes for the food to be ready. But even after 15 minutes, it wasn’t ready. If you forgot to place the order, be transparent and not try to be disrexpectful to the customer.
Ordering online here is a waste of time. My pickup order took over an hour, and I was left waiting more than 30 minutes past the promised pickup time. On top of that, the staff were rude and unprofessional. Extremely poor service. Definitely not returning here.
This buffet was a very bad experience. The waitress had poor English communication and brought the check right after we sat down, before we even had a chance to eat. It felt rude and unwelcoming. Definitely not a place I would recommend.
100 % disappointed food quality of omakase. DO NoT ORDER PLEASE! wasting money . You better go to sushi buffet. I am 100 % sure. I am taste so many different place like a 20 restaurant more than 100 times but they never cheat customer. Owner doesn't know what is omakase. I am completely crooked. Pay 350 bucks for 2, i don't even want to pay 50 buck for 5 pcs sushi and Chinese style with soy sauce smell dish which is nothing special. Owner should get experience of omakase restaurant ,then will realize what is going wrong . Don't sell like that customer is not a pushover. If you guys want to have omakase , go to "Torigo" in floral park, cheaper than here, high quality of food then you guys will know what i am saying . I recommend owner and chef as well. Don't sell your name like this !!! I will keep posting, not cheating valued customers hard working money. There is no zero star so i mark 1 star .
