Quick service! The waitstaff in Shancheng La meizi are friendly and efficient, It was a Wednesday night, and we had been told to wait about 30+ mins to get the table since there were about 8 people ahead of us, but actually just about 15 mins. Real fast, after we had seat we taking order (soup/hotpot base, vegies, meats, dipping sauces, and spicy level) right away. For the soup/hot pot base, I get the spicy and non spicy combo, which is the one that I shown on my picture, I put the meats in spicy side, and all the vegies in the non sicy side. For the dipping sauces, I was confused at first, but I found out most of them are vegan, so if you are vegetarian, you good. And if you are new here, JUST MIXED ALL SAUCES TOGETHER! Just a little bit of each, it sounds a little weird but tasty :D. For meat, I just order beef slices and pork slices, and veggies I ordered different types of mushrooms and greens. I don't really worry about the quality of all ingredients, that's why I just order the one on the cheapest price, and they tastes all good. And the end, there is a dessert section right next to the dipping sauce station, so if your mouth got hit by the hotness of the hotpot(sexy), just run to the dessert section and get a bowl of that watery~ liquid thing, drink it. I personaly don't even know what's inside, they just tastes sweet, like sugar water.... I asked the server and he told me they are vegan base. I gave them a 5 stars, because this place is pretty cool.
Would've rated higher if I could've!! My first review and for good reason! Great food, great service, and very clean and lively atmosphere. The food is exceptionally high quality [and they give free refills on drinks! (They're very generous with the drink size too)], the waitresses will occasionally bring around snacks alongside the free snack and sauce bar. Overall an unforgettable experience! Would recommend to absolutely ANYONE!!
First time here and the waitress was very helpful explaining how to order and the different sauces. Very good choice of flavors for the stock bases to cook in. Wide variety of ingredients, lots I've never heard of or tried. Will definitely eat here again!
This place has some really delicious hot pot. I came here with a friend and we had to wait for about 30 minutes for a table. Once inside, we got our order form and chose a lot of beef and lamb. We chose the half-and-half broth to try both flavours and they were both really tasty. The restaurant also had a sauce bar with a bunch of other stuff (I sent my companion to the bar because there were so many people already there). Also a quick note from my experience, the staff don't really understand English or Cantonese so you should bring a friend that knows some Mandarin. The meat quality was good and it was an enjoyable experience overall.
The taste is not bad but I would prefer keep the spicy but not the numb part. I went there on a week day not so busy as before which is good. They have a new competitor in the area (海底捞)which is good. Competition make them better. Price is reasonable but they start charging group Tips on a Party of 5 or more. Usually most business do this for 6 or more so keep that in mind when you pay. Don’t double tip.
Enjoyed this place. Authentic Sichuanese cuisine, and it’s vibe transports you to Sichuan province in China. The spices, flavor makes this restaurant to dine at. However, don’t come to this place if you can’t handle heavy amount of spices, since the amount of spice is heavy, use of chili is high, and flavor can be too strong for some people.
The best Chinese hot pot experience in southern California. The clear broth is in my opinion the best I've had. They also have sesame balls with red bean which is especially good when it is fresh. There's a sauce bar as well which is very close to what's in China. There is usually a long line so add yourself to yelp wait-list before you go.
Tried hotpot here for the first time and it was satisfactory. Can be a bit pricey but the portion was good. DYI sauce bar has many fun options available, good for a big group/fam.
Very good service and plenty of snacks available. I took one star off from food just because the hot pot taste is not the best. It’s good they kindly reminded us for 15% service fee for people of 5.
Fair pricing on individual meat plates, but great variety of FREE snacks, small eats, desserts, etc! Tasty soup bases for hot pot, excellent quality thin sliced meats, fresh vegetables...If you like spicy hot pot, this is the place!
This is one of the most authentic Chungking hot pots in the area. Extremely popular and always crowded while at the meal point. We visited there early to avoid waiting. There was a buffet bar that served traditional Chinese snacks. We ordered a half & half pot with mild spicy and tomatoes, which we would recommend this combination if it was your first time trying Chinese hot pot. The environment was super clean and well decorated with stylized Chinese elements. Angus Beef and Fresh Beef were the dishes we would recommend most when ordering ingredients for the hot pot. They were both luscious and fresh. With sesame oil and garlic, which we got from the sauce bar, it was such an enjoyment. Parking here was free!!
Still one of the most traditional hotpot place in the Rowland area. Right now don't need to wait for the line to get the table. May weekend will be busy. Weekdays not able to reserve the table. Food all fresh and good, price is higher than average l.
Went here on Monday 2pm, didn’t have to wait for seating hehe. We ordered a half & half pot with mild spicy. And we also ordered Fried Tofu Skin ($4.95), Pork Intestine ($6.95), Handmade Yam Pasta ($4.95), Angus Beef ($11.98), Fresh Beef ($7.95), Pork Blood ($4.95), Quail Egg ($4.95), Chinese Cabbage ($2.95), Spinach ($2.95), Lotus Root ($4.95), Sweet Corn ($2.95), Enoki Mushroom ($4.95). Really satisfied with most of these food, especially the Fried Tofu Skin, Lotus Root and Sweet Corn! And the Fresh Beef was not expensive but had high quality.😭❤️ However, the flavors of Angus Beef and Pork Blood weren’t as our expectations.☹️ Both spicy and bone soup pots were amazing, and the veggies were fresh and delicious cooked with the bone soup! There’re also multiple choices for sauces and free Chinese snacks.💕 Love this restaurant and will definitely come here again!
Loved the beef and spicy!! We didn't do all the bone marrow bc that would have been too rich but the peppers and beef have so much flavor. I loved the sauce bar...sesame oils and garlic and all the goodies. Great for mixing to dip things in. I loved the fish balls, shrimp and steak. So many great things to add to the hot pot. I wouldn't bother with the mixed veggies but loved the mushrooms!!
Must try if you like spicy hot pot. I normally eat a lot of spicy but the small spicy was already very "sweaty" spicy for me. Long wait on the weekends (up to 2 hours), they do take Yelp reservations so do that if you want to go there during busy hours. There are a lot of different sauce & ingredients to choose and go with the hot pot. First time ever I've seen a restaurant to have a bottle of MSG available (if you dare choose). We ordered the half/half with spicy & tomato soup base. Good food and worth the wait.
Great portions and a variety of meats & vegetables to choose from. The spicy hotpot base was pretty spicy for our family even though we chose the moderate level. Snack/sauce bar also had many delicious options!
The spicy flavor hot pot tastes sooooo good. There’s also free dessert bar, which also taste really good. Their service is great and price is not very expensive. I traveled from Seattle and I can’t find same level’s hot pot there lol. Strongly recommend!!!!

Flavorful hot pot base and the ingredients was good quality. The sauce bar and snacks was also great.
I moved to other state 2 years ago and this restaurant is one of restaurants I really miss in LA. Every time I come back to LA I must have a dinner here. This restaurant never let me down. It is one of the most authentic Chongqing Hot Pot restaurants. The taste is great and the food material is fresh and quality. They are very generous to provide complimentary high quality snacks. They treat the customers thoughtfully and it is why they exist so long a time.

Brought by my Chinese co-workers to this spot. According to them, the food is very authentic, and even the atmosphere is reminiscent of their country. It's packed on a Friday night. They don't take reservations as well, so come early if you can. I love the fact that you can get two soup bases; I'm not much of a fan of spicy, so having the non-spicy option was great for me. According to my colleagues, this region's specialty is spicy food, so I guess I missed out. There is a wide selection of meats and veggies. The open dessert bar was awesome. Overall, a great out-of-my-comfort-zone experience.
Saturday 2/15/23 Dinner at Shancheng Lameizi Restaurant in Rowland Heights with my cousin. Spicy hot pot with various meats and vegetables. They got a great side sauces and deserts-appetizers bar (Unlimited enjoyment). The foods tasted awesome and fresh. The service staffs worked fast. The restaurant is sectioned into a few smaller rooms with tables and chairs. David Young Restaurant Enthusiast
My first time having spicy hot pot. It was pretty tasty and a nice vibe. Casual dining and good satisfying food. You can make it spicey depending on how you order. Service was a bit chaotic, long wait to be seated for dinner. Get the goose intestine!
Hot pot is pretty goos, very authentic and reminiscent of the ones in China, especially Chongqing.
Usual place closed so we tried this place out and it did not disappoint. Cover is around $3 per person and there’s a full toppings bar with snacks and desserts. Plenty of meat options and lots of vegetables. Vegetables are priced around $3-6 an order. Meats are priced around $10-15 an order but they also have lobe and wagyu which is a lot more. Pitcher of beer was around $11. Overall the soup base was good, we went with mild and plain. Still had a good kick to it! I’d recommended getting the combos to try things out and then order what you want after. 6 people, lots of food, a couple of pitchers of beer. $40 a person was the damage. Do note parties of 5 or more automatically incurs 15% tip. Bonus points- bathroom has toothbrushes in case your mouth stinks from all the garlic and heavy sauces you use!
Great food, great sauce. Didn't make me thirsty afterwards like some other hot pot places did **cough Mongolian Sheep cough**. The complementary baked sesame cake (火烧) is very very good!
If you are a hot pot (火锅)fanatic, you have to try this place! The spices are prepared well, therefore the broth tastes of full flavor. The body of the spiciness is whole but not sharp to the tongue. The sauce stand is clean and fresh. But as all popular hot pot places, there is always a wait here, and the wait is always excruciating!!
The hot pot here is just like the one I had in China. Really authentic. They have free snacks and dessert for you to choose from. The service is fair. They don’t take reservation and during busy hour the place is a little bit crowded.
The ingredient is fresh and it is classic hot pot with great sauce and appetizer bar. However, it is very busy during lunch or dinner time, you need to wait at least 1 hour. So, come here as early as possible.

Our experience at this restaurant has been inconsistent, which is concerning. During this visit, the service had several issues: our menus were collected before we could confirm our order, and we didn't receive itemized receipts to verify what we were charged ($150). After the hotpot had been boiling for approximately 10 minutes, no ingredients had been served yet. When the food finally arrived, the quality didn't match the price point—the beef in particular was subpar, and several items didn't taste fresh. While we've had acceptable experiences here in the past, the lack of consistency in both food quality and service makes it difficult to recommend. We won't be returning.
The most expensive China pot in the area. Dipping sauce cost $1.50 per person, so if you are not using the sauce let them know @ the beginning. But the soup is #1. The plus is that dessert is free, all you can eat. 4 person cost easily $100 not include tip yet, not even full yet. Soup is $15 per table if you get the combination. Do not order the meat combo, it's the worst. The meat is coat with chili flakes and it's thick and hard to chew. The other prime meat shaved is great but everything is so pricey. Conclusion, it's good try for the atmosphere and if you are a foodie.
The food is pretty good. The service is fair. The place is clean,. And the price is a little high. One thing I don't understand is why is it that they are charging for the sauce? The bone soup is blend and it definitely needs some dipping sauce yet they charge for that? Doesn't quite make sense to me....
Good place for hot pot but was definitely not happy with how they charged for certain items. They charged $7.50/person just for the breaded snacks that they offered by the sauce counter without telling us. I definitely felt that this was a little unethical as it’s assumed that it’ll be included with any other charges. In regards to the hot pot, I would not recommend the 9-box spicy pot for people who cannot handle spicy and would recommend the split mild/spicy pot instead.

Their service is getting worse and worse. I'll probably never take friends here again! Today our waitress even gave us rolled eyes when we asked for help, bad attitude all the way, she sure changed into a big smile for the first and last time when bringing the check. Seriously Not to mention their waiting line is ridiculously long for dinner every time. Not worth the time for their stink face.
Food was okay and the owner seems very nice. However, if you’re looking for better service, don’t expect too much from this place. One of the waitress knocked over our food and ASKED if we want her to replace it instead of DIRECLTY replacing it. (We didn’t want to embarrass her). They also charged us with the sauce fee and we didn’t get any sauce nor did we order that on the menu. We had to ask the manager for them to get that off my check. Btw the place is also very crowded with limited space to walk.
The black beef tripe was really smelly and the manager refused to refund it to us saying it was how the smell should be, which was very ridiculous. Will never come again
Loved it and went twice despite of the wait. Super spicy and tasty. You can eat the small plates while waiting. We didn't want to spoil our appetite. But the wait is quite long each time we went. Update: everyone threw up and went to the bathroom afterwards today. Seems like food poisoning. Not sure if we'd ever return again
Overall this place is ok, the service and the food are very tasty, BUT! We ordered the pig blood and the duck blood, the duck blood was fine, but the pig blood was stinky! And disgusting! It was clearly not fresh and it was DEFINITELY expired. We then went to talk to the manager about this and he just dodged responsibility and blamed the food provider and didn’t do anything about it. So we had to finish the meal with the stinky pig blood. That is unacceptable! Don’t come to this place!!
I recently visited Shancheng Lameizi in San Diego and was surprised to see that the tax on our bill was calculated based on both the subtotal and the service charge. Typically, taxes should only apply to the actual cost of the food and beverages. Including the service charge in the taxable amount leads to a higher overall cost, which feels like being taxed twice. It would be more customer-friendly to apply taxes solely to the goods, ensuring transparency and avoiding unexpected costs on the final bill.
We drop by this morning to have lunch in this place that my friends recommended, the soup base were about average, nothing special to me, I am a big fan of hot pot, when I ask the waiter what's the special in here, he just simply show me it's on the menu, I was kind of disappointed, I was like I can read Chinese , I am first time here and want some recommendations from you guys not just looking at the menu. They do have a big selection of the free snacks. Their meat quality is really so so, even I order the angus. We don't even get water until we asked for it. It's kind of bad for us to have lunch like this on our vacation.
This Chinese server lady is very rude. I wouldn't expect much from her but it was raining and we arrived 10 mins before opening. So i asked her if we could stand inside because it was cold and wet. She commanded us to go back to our car. This place was my favorite place until today ..... No server should command or demand the customer . At least ask or be polite about it. Also noticed the chef don't wash their hands and they always spit and cough without covering their mouths. Foods good though if you don't mind the sanitary conditions. Sometimes they have their finger nails touching the food when they serve you too.
Please don't come to this place for your own health. There are three of us went there last night, and after we finish , all of us got food poisoning. Me and my other friend is having really bad diarrhea after the meal. I don't usually put bad reviews, but I would give them zero stars if I could. Please be aware!!! There are so many other good hot pot place, it's not worth your health over this disgusting food. Never ever gonna come back to this place.
