Opinions de House Kitchen & Bar Sacramento
In town for the Stevie Nicks concert. The food, service and atmosphere were all great. Will come again if we are ever back in town.
Forgot to take photos of the drinks and food. We had the Prime-Rib French Dip which was prepped with shaved prime-rib, crispy onions, Swiss, and horseradish mayo. As well as the Salmon Poke. Both meals, along with the cocktails, were outstanding. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.
Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Food lines up to the hype, they are known for thier French dip and it does not disappoint. Almost all the food they serve are in large portions. Clean and well maintained restaraunt. Would recommend for anyone working around the area in downtown Sacramento by the state capital. Plenty of parking options and easy to walk to.
This little spot hidden just south of the Golden One Arena is an excellent treasure to find! From a distance you might think way too up scale and pricey, but just glance at their menu and you will find an entourage of deliciousness that is reasonably priced. Our culinary adventure included an amazing Pokè appetizer, Chicken Marsala, Prime Rib Beef Dip, and ohhhhhhh the Chicken and Waffles. Superb taste and amazing flavor all around. I urge you to take a seat and experience House!
It was good l! They have a great French dip and good salads! A great lunch spot. Would definitely recommend!
Always great food! Best place for warm up to a Kings game.
Food was Awesome! We have happily eaten here before. This time everything we ordered was just awesome! Can't exactly remember the names, but we had yummy tamale cake appetizers, and some sort of magical drunken French fries. I had a salad that had these amazing warm corn bread croutons (they should be some sort of appetizer with those). Everything so delicious, great staff, obviously great people working the kitchen!
Hosted an event with drinks, apps and a meal for over 25 people and heard great things about House. Wanted to be near DOCO. EVERYONE raved about the food and service was excellent. I had the prime rib sandwich which was killer, but everyone was very happy with the other choices. Great for any meal but highly recommend for larger groups. They take care of you! Oh, folks swooned over the deviled eggs.
We have gone here for years and have never had a bad meal. Today was exceptional ... the French fries with glaze and short ribs were amazing..the drunken chicken salad was super fresh and had so many tasty tidbits...and the spicy chicken breasts were to die for. On top of the list however was our server...friendly, helpful, and ultra professional. Oh, and they validate for parking which is an added bonus.
Great French dip sandwich. Server was very friendly and was quick.
I love this place. Food and service are wonderful and the owner/Chef is a great guy. When it is crowded, it's a bit noisy, but the food makes it all worthwhile!
Good food, affordable prices, the chef was a super funny guy, the server was nice, smiling and relaxed, we didn’t feel rush or something.. the food runner was on point and super helpful. Definitely a place I would like to come back to. They have a vegan burger which was a plus and I was super glad that I could order that! I tried the other burgers too and they were amazing!! Funny fact: I was super impressed when I went to their restroom, super clean and elegant ~ cool painting
Excellent service, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere. Definitely a top spot in Sacramento!
My favorite restaurant in Sac County, hands down. Best dishes are the crispy chicken pieces, pulled pork sandwich & the beef short ribs. The braised short ribs are cooked to perfection; they have the “melt in your mouth” kind of texture. Pulled pork sandwich is exceptional. Prime location about 4 blocks from the State Capital (with a nice view of it). Staff is friendly, helpful and quick. Truly a wonderful dining experience and one of a kind these days. House Kitchen & Bar will not disappoint!
I visited House Kitchen & Bar last week for a work event, and the experience was impressive from start to finish. Organizing or attending corporate gatherings can often be hit-or-miss regarding hospitality, but the staff here was outstanding. They were professional, genuinely polite, and friendly, ensuring our group was well taken care of throughout the evening. The highlight of the night, however, was the food. I ordered the short rib dinner, and it was nothing short of amazing. The execution of the dish was perfect—flavorful and tender enough that I genuinely wished I could have ordered seconds or even thirds. If you are looking for a venue that combines high-quality cuisine with attentive, A+ service, I highly recommend dining at this establishment. It is a fantastic choice for both business functions and personal dining in Sacramento.
Our server was wonderful during our lunch visit. The owner stopped by & is very nice & personable. The chicken lettuce wraps were a fav at our table as an appetizer that the three of us shared prior to ordering lunch. It's a generous portion. The grilled chicken sandwich & the chuck burger we're tasty. The fries & sweet potato fries were perfect. The honey glazed salmon was delicious & paired well with seasonal veggies & mashed potatoes. We're coming back for happy hour since it runs from 4-8pm with a pretty tasty menu selection. Not pictured is the blackberry margarita. It was refreshing & mixed just right. Cheers to starting off Monday right!
Basker Hobbins from the Hopscotch Ranch and I were in Sactown with a couple of relief pitchers properly equipped with a full sack of freshly set cow pies..still wet in the center and easy to throw, and about a half sack of dirt clods all from his ranch, with a single mission...make the day miserable for a few politicians! The House Kitchen & Bar was perfectly situated, not only would we enjoy some amazing food, but we'd be able to prioritize our targets with our bull pin, and watch the fun in real time. Man-O-Man...The House Kitchen was a great decision, the food was spectacular as was the service! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ ! But...that sidewalk! Be careful where you step.
I didn't know this place existed until I was looking for a different spot to take my friend to. Parking was convenient as it was in a garage. They validate an hour. With regards to food, the salmon, spicy shrimp pasta and braised short ribs were all delicious 😋😋😋!!! The guy who served us our food was very friendly and attentive. I didn't get his name. Great atmosphere as well. Will try outdoors when it gets much cooler.
House Kitchen & Bar has a great happy hour that makes this this perfect spot to meet up with friends! The food is delicious and the staff are super friendly. They have a great drink and wine menu as well.
Ahhh I loved this place! I went and sat outside with a friend during happy hour and their food menu is so delicious! They have options for 6, 7, 8 and 9$. But please whatever you do, get the corn tamale cakes for 6$, they were so good I ordered a second one 😭 and the sliders were delicious as well! The setting is so cute outside, they have Christmas lights wrapped around the trees on the sidewalk so it makes for lovely pictures and general lighting. Service was 10/10 very helpful and the cocktails were dangerously good. Definitely recommend and will be taking more friends next time!
My friend and I decided to come eat here after finishing watching the kings game and it wasn't disappointing, the servers were nice and checked up on us if we needed anything or if we were okay. The food was great. My friend had the burgers and fries which she loved while I had the braised beef short rib, mashed potatoes, Demi-glacé with Brussels spouts. It was very good, so tender and buttery! The atmosphere of the place is beautiful. I will be coming back again to try other foods!
I love coming here for happy hour or for lunch (usually to go). Everything on the menu is so delicious and the service is great! I really like the salmon salad and chicken lettuce wraps. Their happy hour is amazing!
Their happy hour menu is fantastic! The fried chicken sliders and prime rib sliders were great!
The dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch.
Dropped in on a road trip from Oregon to So. Cal. So glad we did! Family feel, owner greeted everyone as they entered and left. Five star food and drinks at affordable prices. We did happy hour small plates. Amazing!!! Will stop by every time through town!

Food was pretty good. Service was great. Atmosphere was nothing special however it was comfortable.
The food is excellent. Service can be a bit slow but the staff are friendly and helpful. My only issue is with their drinks. We got a bottle of their house cabernet and it was terrible, enough so that I looked it up online and saw that it was a $4.99 bottle of wine that was sold to us for $34 at the restaurant. Ouch. It makes me skeptical of other drink options they have. Otherwise though I will definitely come back for the food.
Chicken Marsala was great! However after the office workers go home, the building turns off the AC and the restaurant gets uncomfortably hot.
8/2024 tried fillet mignon this time, which came with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes that were really good. But the steak itself was chewy even as medium. Good food, good service. Highly recommend the prime rib French dip and the grilled salmon entree.
"The best french dip in Sacramento - period" Quite a bold statement on the menu for the Prime-rib french dip and I was intrigued. Admittedly I don't have any real experience with french dip, so I honestly wouldn't know any better, but when we asked our server what she recommended and the French dip was her response. There was no other choice. My two compatriots and I embarked on the challenge of the best French Dip in Sacramento. All levity aside, this sandwich was great. While I don't have a basis for comparison, I really enjoyed the cuts of prime rib and the crunch onion rings sandwiched between two pieces of sourdough. The mayo and Swiss cheese really tie it all together and it joined the clean plate club for me I can't comment on if it is truly the best, but being my first it wins by default! The fries were also really good quality but the sandwich was the star of the show. It was a pretty busy day but service was relatively quick and our server was really attentive. We were seated right next to the window and despite being really busy, it was too loud. Located within the Bank of America building the attached bathroom was clean and their is an Old Soul Cafe right across the building. Will definitely visit again for drinks and an early dinner!
It appears the City of Sacramento has soon a nice job at providing food and drink establishments around the Golden 1 Center-House Kitchen & Bar is one of them. Within a block of the center situated in the lower floor of an office tower, I found House Kitchen & Bar convenient. They won out on other establishments because I could make a reservation. There’s a bar with high stools as you enter and a see thru to kitchen as you head toward the dining area. Service was prompt and friendly. We chose a pomegranate cocktail and their version of an old fashion. Both were good not spectacular. Requests we made to our meals (steak and French dip) were spot on and followed up by the server-an added plus to service. The French dip came with bottomless fries however I did not partake in the offer. Our experience was good. Check the “inside” pics others have posted to get a feel for the ambiance. They were spot on. A brightly lit dining room, not so cozy or intimate but served the purpose of grabbing a good tasting meal served by professional staff. Restrooms were clean and in the business center lobby.
All things considered, I think this was a good choice. Came into town for concert, and stayed at Kimpton (separate review). So, limited area and ate at an odd time. Everything was good. Had cocktails, which were fine.
Delicious lunch spot downtown. Tons of sandwich options, as well as other dishes. I had the chicken club, it was big and quite tasty. The fries stole the show though.. Natural, thin-cut and fried just right. And whatever they were seasoned with was phenomenal. A bit pricey for lunch, but tasty nonetheless. Recommended!
Happy hour menu did not disappoint! Prime rib sliders are mini version of the French dip. Buffalo cauliflower was delicious, do was the sweet and spicy chicken.

I highly recommend their French dip. Everything I have ordered from here has been good. They have a full bar with knowledgeable bartenders.

Took my wife here today our server was really nice we got the short rib fries, and the lettuce wraps for appetizers, which were actually really good. surprised by both appetizers! The drinks were decent nothing fancy or extra good but they were ok. My wife got a French dip. It was OK nothing exceptionalIt was a little bland.I got the cajun gumbo it literally had no flavor at all no spice no seasoning. I tried to add salt, but that didn’t help I sent that back and I did get my money back for that. I was just unimpressed overall. I would not return here or recommend it.
Don’t normally write reviews but was fairly taken aback by service. We were dressed fairly casually but sat down for lunch. Felt the servers were rushing us very frequently to order and when we got the chef special he had made a unsolicited remark regarding how much food we ordered. Overall not impressed. Food was decent but not the best ive had.
Had teservation. Was seated outside and was very hot. No umbrellas up. Waited over 30 minutes for check. Salad had way too much dressing so was soggy. Apps were good. Drinks were good.

I ordered the short rib sticky fries to go and sadly the fries taste burnt and was short of ribs. The staff was really friendly, but I am sorely disappointed in the food.
I like this restaurant and everyone who works there is great. I am a loyal customer of many years. But right now (6:45 pm May 27, 2025) I’m eating the 5-cheese Mac & cheese and it’s very soupy and the noodles are overcooked and the cheese sauce is a bit like warmed milk with little flavor. I don’t taste much cheese…
My recent visit to House Kitchen was quite a letdown, marred by a series of customer service failures and disappointing food quality. Despite its promising menu, the experience left much to be desired and raised concerns about the overall management of the establishment. Upon arrival, it was clear that customer service was not a priority. There was no acknowledgment from the staff as I walked in, clearly, I had to ask for assistance to get an order in. It took several minutes before anyone even glanced in my direction, and when someone finally did, their attitude was indifferent at best. This lack of attentiveness set a negative tone for the entire visit. When I finally placed my order, I was looking forward to a hearty meal. However, the problems didn't end with the initial lack of acknowledgment. When my sandwich and mac n cheese arrived, I quickly noticed that both were missing a key ingredient: the bacon. This oversight significantly detracted from the flavors and overall enjoyment of the meal. A bacon-less sandwich and mac n cheese are far less satisfying, especially when bacon is a featured component. I brought the missing bacon to the attention of the staff, but instead of an apology or a quick remedy, I was met with a dismissive response. They seemed unconcerned about the mistake and made no effort to correct it or compensate for the oversight. This indifferent attitude towards customer satisfaction was particularly frustrating. Overall, my experience at House Kitchen was characterized by poor customer service, a lack of acknowledgment, and careless mistakes with the food. The unwelcoming atmosphere and indifferent attitude of the staff, combined with the missing ingredients in my meal, made for a disappointing dining experience. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and works to improve both their service and food quality. Until then, I cannot recommend House Kitchen and will be reluctant to return.
Honestly the food was alright. Its too bougie; paying high downtown prices for trash food is not worth it. I got the short ribs, "filet mignon," and burger. The brussel sprouts were burnt; I would rather have it boiled. The "Filet mignon" was completely tough. The burger didn't look fresh or taste juicy. The fries were thin and crispy. The short ribs was fine. It's sous vide meat so it was tender.
Absolutely horrible! We were with a group, and had a reservation, along with a premade menu. The restaurant ran out of pasta, and made our family wait an additional 30 minutes to be served their meal, while everyone else was eating. The restaurant blamed the amount of time waiting for the pasta bowls, on “running out of spaghetti noodles and havingto use elbow macaroni.” This reservation was booked months ago, and during booking, we had vegetarians. Then, they ran out of the dessert that we had special requested, months ago. The service was horrible. I work for a very well known entertainment/hospitality company ( 👑🏰🎪💫🐀)and this would NEVER happen. Not even in a fast food location.
