Eric was amazing! His recommendations were perfect. My husband and I really enjoyed everything. The grilled pineapple and cheese was out of this world! Will definitely be back. I will also tell all my friends and family about this beautiful restaurant.
This was my first time at a Brazilian Steakhouse. The location is in the spot previously run as Pampas. You are able to go to the salad bar as many times as you’d like over the course of your meal. They have a card provided at your table to indicate whether you’d like the Gauchos to offer the selections from the kitchen to you or not, however it doesn’t seem like they always paid close attention this. Up until the end, this was a great experience. We ate on 3/7 Saturday for lunch getting the full experience special. As of today, prices were 35.90 for full experience and 25.90 for the lunch special. Unfortunately, at least for lunch, I cannot recommend the full experience. You are best off getting the lunch special. The options that are added in the full experience are filet mignon, ribeye, flap steak, lamb chops, chicken drumsticks, and I think beef rib. You are not missing too much or maybe it was an off day, but the filet mignon and ribeye were incredibly dry and salty. I have never had a steak so heavily salted. The majority of their options however were tasty and interestingly seasoned. The salad bar itself is definitely worth the menu salad bar price. This would not be a great place for a vegan but there did seem to be some options available. I enjoyed: Pork belly, red wine steak, spicy sirloin, pork sausage, barbecue chicken drumstick, and the grilled pineapple and grilled corn were big favorites as well. The pineapple was interestingly spiced, similar to that of spiced apple cider. It was well grilled and fairly ripe. The seasonings and marinades ranged from plainly salted/peppered to spiced from a variety of unique spices and flavorings that I have not had before on meats. The salad bar offers plenty of options to complement the more plainly seasoned meats and I strongly recommend trying out some of the salad bar options together with the meat. I did not enjoy: Filet mignon, ribeye, beef ribs, bacon wrapped chicken, chicken heart The picanha had a nice flavor but was quite dry even at medium rare. Lamb chop seemed decent, but I still don’t enjoy lamb/gamey meats. The cheese bread by the salad bar is excellent and can go fast. The crab salad and ceviche were fine as well. A big standout was the Brazilian Limeade which they make in house. I strongly recommend this one. This is likely unlike most lemonades or limeades you’ve had. It was a very creamy/milky yet refreshing drink with a great ratio of lime in my opinion (not too strong). The creme brulee which was 11.50 is a fairly large shallow plate and was a solid option. It was a satisfactory quality but not a standout to me. My partner was satisfied with this one for dessert. In the end, the major drawdowns of my experience were: 1. The premium option did not come out or at least were not offered to my table for over two hours of our time being there and even by the end, at least two options (flap steak and grilled cheese) were NEVER offered. Why would I pay for this experience if I can’t try everything? I’m assuming this is because lunch is not busy and therefore not enough demand to provide it or not enough kitchen staff to prepare their full menu. A lot of multiple repeats brought out included picanha, red wine steak, garlic parmesan pork, pork sausage, pineapple, and sirloin. Some fine options but I don’t want to keep being offered the same things only. 2. There was an error with my credit card being billed to the wrong table, which took about 15-20 minutes to resolve, however the manager tried to make it right. 3. Towards the end, business was picking up and the waitstaff/gauchos were getting somewhat overwhelmed, leading to a bit of a lack of attention. At times, The meat/options did run out before they were able to reach us or sometimes they did skip us. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant and would like to return. A strong recommendation in the Sac area for the price, especially for the lunch special. Better than many korean barbecues for a better price.
My mom booked my dad’s Surprise 50th Birthday party at Tropeiro’s on J Street! They made it so easy! Tables were set according to how we needed the seating to be (Party of 94). Had an area where we were able to set-up treats for the guests as well as photo backdrop area. Received SO MANY compliments from our guests about how it was a great party and great venue; loved the food, drinks, service and ambiance. Food - there was a little bit of everything for the pickiest eaters and A LOT of everything for the foodies! Dinner packages were easy to choose from. Caipirinha’s were delicious!!! Wait staff were patient, efficient and made sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you Tropeiro’s for an unforgettable night!!! ❤️
The customer service was on point very attentive and friendly. Perfect for a romantic dinner or family dinner. The meats were seasoned to perfection. The flan was delicious and had great texture, a must try. Every staff member we encountered did an excellent job our water cups never empty, offers of meat often, and just overall great restaurant. I went in with low expectations because of rating but wanted to try and definitely not regretting my decision. Very clean and the salad bar is kept well stocked
Heard that this new place recently took over the old Pampas location and decided to give it a try. The food and service was amazing. The servers were quick and easy to talk to. The lunch specials are amazingly cheap and kind of unbelievable. They also give state employees an additional discount!! The food was amazing and the quality of it was excellent. My favorite thing was the full salad bar and the grilled pineapple. The salad bar was packed with almost anything you can think of. I will definitely be coming back to this place and be highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and time.
Came here with my family and we all had such a great time! The food was awesome — the meats were super tasty and tender, and all the sides were fresh and flavorful. You can tell everything’s made with care. The staff was super friendly and kept the food coming the whole time. Everyone made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Honestly, the best Brazilian BBQ I’ve had in California. Great vibes, great service, and amazing food. We’ll definitely be back! 😁
If you like lots of meat and lots of kinds of meat, this is your place! There's a self serve hot/cold salad bar with all kinds of yummy goodies to start with and everything was perfect. Then the varied meats showed up and the grilling was spectacular. It's very fast paced and the staff was very accommodating and hard working! Thanks to all who made it a special night especially Nolan😊
I had a great experience here! Food was great and very flavorful! Service was superb! Everyone was so welcoming and kind! Never ending meats was marvelous and always fresh out never cold. Thank you for a great birthday experience. Will definitely be back
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Favorites were the Sirloins especially the garlic beef, Grilled pineapple, Lamb legs. Great to have sides assortments from the salad bar. Full experience is 35$ Served rodizio-style, gauchos bring skewers of slow-roasted meats over natural charcoal directly to your table. Meats become tender and flavor packed. You Watch em cut it and you pick it off directly onto your plate. Very fun.
The new spot was great for my work lunch. Steak and meats that came out were cooked well and tender. They made sure to come around often and asked what I wanted to see. Salad bar was also very nice with a lot of options and even would be a solid lunch by itself if you didnt want to do the full steakhouse experience. Good sides and bread, beans, salads, and some meat. Servers were very nice and attentive and ambience was pleasant. Would go back especially if working downtown and wanted to do a nice event, working lunch, or nice meal.
We just had an incredible experience at Tropeiro’s Grill Brazilian Steakhouse. Everything from the service to the food was top-notch. The appetizer section was phenomenal — way better than we expected. The millionaire’s bacon was insanely good, perfectly cooked with that sweet-savory balance that makes you want to go back for more. The picanha was tender and flavorful, the grilled pineapple was caramelized beautifully, and the cheese bread was warm, soft, and absolutely addictive. On top of that, the staff were extremely kind and accommodating to our pregnant wives, making sure they were comfortable and had everything they needed. That level of care really stood out. Overall, Tropeiro’s delivered an amazing dining experience—great food, great service, and great people. We’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is now open for lunch. The salad bar has a little bit of every and also has hot food options. For a little more you can get the lunch meats as well. Service is amazing and the passion fruit mousse is just lovely. Highly recommend and will update when I try their happy hour that starts at 4:30pm.
We had the best experience, our friend hosted a birthday party. We were a rather large group. They handle the size of our group perfectly there was never a shortage of food or needing a drink or really anything. The food was delicious and we can’t wait to go back. Thank you so much to your team for such a great experience.
We arrived ten minutes early for our 5pm reservation. We were late! My sister and brother in law had arrived ten minutes before us and already had a table. Our server explained the process (we were familiar - not our first Brazilian steakhouse) and we ordered drinks, toasted and headed for the salad bar. I’ve never seen a better stocked salad bar. Soup, lettuces, vegetables, fruit, salami and several cheeses, tomato slices, mozzarella slices with basil, a variety of peppers, sauces, and dressings. Once back at our table and mostly done with our salads. The gauchos began offering meats. They arrived so frequently, I barely had time to eat. At one point I had bacon wrapped chicken, bacon wrapped steak, two sausage and a filet mignon on my plate. Our soft drinks and water were constantly refreshed empty plates annd glasses removed. About every 15 minutes a different manager stopped by to check on how we were enjoying our meal and service. With 26 different options, we didn’t have room to try them all. But everything we selected was perfectly prepared and deliciously seasoned. The Malbec recommended by our server was excellent with the beef selections. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert and my sister and I had coffee. Which was bot, fresh and strong and cream was delivered in a small ceramic pitcher. We were not rushed, and continued to visit after dessert. It was a wonderful meal and evening.
Had an amazing experience at this restaurant tonight! Excellent service and fantastic food. The owner mateo i think it was, was super friendly and great at checking in on what was needed. I will definitely be coming back! The sirloin cap steak and pineapple were the best and super juicy and tender! 10/10 would recommend.
Such an amazing experience! Can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. New owners are so kind and were walking around checking on people the entire time. For $26 they had a hott salad bar that had more than I could have dreamed about. Then every 2 minutes they brought a new meat that they sliced for us at our table and it was only lunch time! Restaurant was clean and so beautiful inside. What an experience. You will not regret choosing this restaurant I mean they had a new drink for me as I took my last sip what more could you ask for.
My boyfriend brought me here for our anniversary with a Groupon of $50 off and we were so astounded with everything from the customer service, the food, and the atmosphere. The quality of the food was amazing and we felt like we got our moneys worth. The owner Mateous is incredible and you can tell he puts his heart into this place. On top of that, the other staff, specifically Elsa and Phil were very attentive to us and gave the best recommendations. Overall everyone here made our anniversary feel extra special! Definitely recommend trying out if you want to have a nice date night!
Great food! Great service. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and it was the perfect place. John and the rest of the staff were wonderful! The pineapple is a must! It was amazing. Also the salad bar is amazing!

Shoutout to Ellie, Olvin, Mateus, Nate (amongst the other wonderful staff) for taking care of our group of 6. What a delicious experience and we were a demanding/ hungry/ excited group. Outstanding service. Really. Recommendations: the pineapple, the cheese, the pineapple, the cheese, the ribs, the pork sausage, the chicken drumstick, the pineapple, the cheese (I suggest also honey, salt, and a little pepper).
Had a fantastic experience here 🌟 The salad bar was fresh and abundant.Mojitos was sweet, citrus with a nice kick- enjoyed a little tto much! and the creme brulee was 🔥!Staff were super friendly and the restaurant was spotless. Definitely recommend! Side note I came on a weekend, easily found off street parking. Alternatively, the city hall parking structure is near by

The whole staff was amazing! Considering we came on New Year’s Eve, even though it was very busy everyone was helpful. The food was great, the atmosphere was good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants an ultimate restaurant experience.
Food was incredible. Stopped for lunch and I'd suggest the Full Experience. Salad bar wuth many, many options, hot soup and mashed potato bar and the meats thry carve at the table was Incredible. Restaurant was clean and staff was Very Friendly. May haft ti use a parking garage to park at but well worth the little walk to the restaurant. Many different wines, water and soda to choose from.
Under new ownership, though the old Pampas sign is still outside. The salad bar looks good but most items were bland with very basic ingredients. Even with the premium AYCE option, the same cuts of meat kept rotating every few minutes. Servers didn’t consistently follow the red/green card system, and most meats were bland, dry, or overcooked. The Amazon Martini was overly sweet, and while the wine list was okay, nothing stood out (corkage is $35). Overall, it feels like they’re still working out the kinks—better seasoning, improved execution, and more value are needed. Great location and friendly staff, though.
They offer three tiers of pricing, with the first being the full experience for $60, which includes their top-tier protein. We chose the FULL SERVICE EXPERIENCE, hoping for a complete experience, but unfortunately, we encountered both good and bad aspects that did not meet our expectations. The salad bar was unremarkable and limited. The meats were excessively salty. We requested well-done lamb chops and waited over an hour, only to receive rare-cooked lamb chops. I never got the filet mignon I had requested. The reason we opted for the top-tier pricing was to enjoy the top-tier proteins, but we ended up not receiving them and not enjoying the meal. Overall, the experience was far from great. It might be an acceptable place if it were $20, but it is definitely not worth $60. I will not be returning to this establishment. If I want to dine at a Brazilian steakhouse in the future, I would gladly make the hour drive to Roseville, CA, and pay $100 for a superior meal and service. I highly recommend the Galpão Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse. Although it is more expensive, the experience is worth it, and the staff is very personable. I had high expectations for Tropeiros but was thoroughly disappointed.

It's a nice place, but expensive for what you get. The food is delicious, when it's warm, which it's not always - a common problem among buffet restaurants. I did expect better from a place that charges so much though. The menu options are restricted due to over-conpensation for improperly trained and careless wait staff. You have color coded cards to signal when you do or don't want the mobile options, which more than half the staff ignored, including offering the options to people who didn't have the cards because they didn't pay for that higher priced option. The MGMT are decent and helpful, when you can reach them, but the general staff are incompetent. We weren't even sure who our server was, if they even actually assigned one... If I had two pennies on me, I probably would have left that as the tip. I've done it before. The servers don't do a good job of getting around to everyone with the variety of mobile food options. If you're not in the outer edge tables, good luck getting what you want without calling MGMT over so they can order the servers to actually serve you specifically. We had to do that more than once. Their drinks are tasty but expensive, about what I expect from a high class restaurant, which they charge like & try to copy, but are not. In summary: it's a beautiful place with mostly good food & great small drinks. If they trained their staff to serve professionally, it might actually end up coming close to being worth their high prices, but not today. It's an interesting cultural experience, so if you care about food more than service, you might enjoy it enough to find it worth it. I value performance across all aspects of service, and would not recommend it for others like me.
