Visited December 17th..see my receipt as always. I have been wanting to try this place in Sacramento! It's a short walk to DOCO and next to the outdoor skating rink. It's very large inside with 2 full bars and plenty of seating. I could see groups of friends coming in after a game and having some food and drinks. We ordered the fried burrata with focaccia. It was nicely done and the sauce on the plate for dipping was delicious ! It had a hint of spice ( chili oil). The lady bartender was so sweet and she showed us how they make their own special old fashioned! The owner, Kevin, was there and he was very hospitable. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant! I like that they have some unique dishes to try as well as burgers and steaks. See the picture of their awards! Gteat experience in a friendly atmosphere!
Wow: EXACTLY how you want to feel after making the time to go out to a nice restaurant! We had heard great things, but were so pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. The reason for our visit was to celebrate our last holiday season together before we welcome a baby next year. Marco took great care of us, and was so sweet in sharing anecdotes about his boys & family, making us so excited for what is to come for our little family. It was decorated cute for Christmas, with a lovely tree in the front room. The food was DELISH, did I already say that? We had the burger and the filet, with a side of potatoes, all of which rocked our world. Can't wait to go back this weekend!
I must say this place is pretty good. A group of 6 of us came Sunday. They have a nice selection of streaks. .but only 8 and 14oz. They do have a 50oz for $250. And from what I seen the presentation is nice. Out of my 14oz steak I might have ate 9oz the rest was all fat. Iove to give 5⭐️ reviews..but today on food 3⭐️. Ill come back when its just me, and try the $250 50oz steak.
Celebrated an anniversary @ Butcher and Barrell. We loved the whole experience. From the happy anniversary card they placed on our table, to the amazing steaks. Great attentive service. Will definitely make the drive up to Sacramento again, from the Bay, to enjoy another great experience with our new friends from Butcher and Barrel.
Chloe Michael, J, and Nikki gave us phenomenal service! We are spending our 3 years of marriage and decided to try something new and head to this restaurant, and right out of the gate we were met with phenomenal service start to finish. The staff was Exemplary and the food was absolutely astonishing both in presentation and taste! We will be bringing more of our friends here as well and encourage everyone to check this place out!
We sat at the bar and had a great experience! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! We had the 21 day dry aged ribeye & Ruben egg roles.
This has been a great experience; from the ambiance, the food, and the service (shout out to our server Josh and manager Michael) All of the food was amazing. Everything was 10/10, our highlights were the cesaer salad, the honey on the b&b board, the filet, and the fries. We will be back, with company!
My husband and I came to Butcher and Barrel today to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! We shared the tomahawk steak, and it did not disappoint — beautifully cooked, flavorful, and the tableside presentation took it to the next level. Great food, great drinks, great service. We felt truly taken care of and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!
Butcher and Barrel is an exceptional dining experience from the moment we arrived. Every dish was a perfect balance of elegance and flavor, crafted with clear attention to detail. The service was impeccable—graceful, attentive, and effortlessly professional. From ambiance to cuisine, every element felt thoughtfully curated. A true gem for those who appreciate fine dining at its best.
This place certainly rolls out the red carpet. From our greeting to goodbye and everything in between it was top notch. Our server Peyton was on point, knowledgeable and professional. The lamb, oysters, short ribs, macaroni and cheese, drinks and raspberry sorbet were all fantastic. I simply cannot wait to return to this place in the future. It has been a while since I've enjoyed dinner so much. A Must Try.
I had the utmost pleasure of meeting chef Carlos! He was so sweet and kind enough to come out to meet me personall, so that I could thank him for the amazing meal that he graced my mouth!🙌 Everything was cooked to perfection! And I also have to give a special shout out to my bartender Javier, who made me the most delicious old fashion, with premium whiskey. I wish I could give y'all a thousand stars! *Chefs kiss* 💋🙂↕️💐🙌 I will most definitely be back!

Butcher and Barrel was an amazing experience to say the least! Went on a friday night with a girlfriend of mine. We had reservations pre made, as we know friday nights can get busy downtown. I got there late but my friend got seated on time, drinks were ready for me when I got there, and they kept coming! They DO NOT skimp on your drink, they were filled to the rim! Punctual and on time with all the food. We ordered a cesar salad and the Butcher Burger. The Butcher board was immaculate, the cheese was so fresh and the different meats on the board, were paired very well together, the honeycomb was a very pleasant touch as well! We would have ordered more but we were going out after this dinner! Everything came out hot and they even split our burger and fries for us, normally you would have to cut it yourself, so that was nice! We enjoyed our time, and our waiter Josh (I believe that was his name) was very nice and attentive! The General Manager came over and introduced himself as well, seemed like he did that with every table which was a nice flare to the restaurant! Not often you can get personal help from someone a little higher in the business. Everything was sparkling clean, great restrooms, perfect lighting, and noise level was not too loud! I will definitely be going back, and recommending to everyone I know!

The best filet mignon I've ever had. Garden salad was wonderful. Sauvignon blanc was perfect. The service was as good as it gets. (Thank you Novalee!) This could have easily been three stars due to the unannounced $4.00 "service fee" they added to my bill. I sternly told the manager to remove this charge, and without any question, explanation, argument, or hesitation, he removed the charge and apologized. Great manager to immediately recognize that it wasn't worth it to ruin an otherwise incredible customer experience over $4. My co-worker that was with me would probably go with three starts, as his rib-eye was gristly and not marbled like a rib-eye should be. I think they should have bread. There were bread plates on the table when we sat down, but they took them away, and no bread. Bread would be a nice gesture for for how pricey this place is. But what service! We were checked on multiple times during the meal, and our server was so kind. We arrived there around 6:30, and it was not very full. It was packed by the time we left, so maybe we benefitted from being there a bit earlier.
From the moment we walked into Butcher and Barrel, the experience was exceptional. We were greeted immediately at the door, our reservation was confirmed without hesitation, and we were promptly seated. The team already knew we were there celebrating my birthday, which set the tone for a thoughtful and personalized evening right from the start. Shortly after being seated, we were welcomed by our waiter, Marco, who was fantastic. He got our drinks started right away and took the time to walk us through several great menu options, offering helpful insight without being pushy. We ultimately chose the Australian Wagyu Tomahawk, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, the presentation alone was worth it. The steak was brought out tableside with an incredible flame presentation, expertly sliced, and finished with garlic compound butter—an impressive and memorable show that matched the quality of the food itself. We paired the steak with crispy potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both sides were very flavorful and complemented the meal well. My only suggestion would be for the potatoes to have a bit more crunch—they were cooked nicely but lacked the crispiness we were expecting. Overall, this restaurant has earned a customer for life. From the host stand to our server to the kitchen, the staff truly delivered from top to bottom. We can’t wait to return, and we’ll absolutely be recommending Butcher and Barrel to all of our friends. An outstanding dining experience and a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
Just returned from happy hour at B&B, and I have to say, it was a an amazing experience! A special shoutout to Rotna, our incredible bartender—her kindness and skill truly stood out. I have to add: The aesthetics of the place are absolutely gorgeous, offering an upscale vibe that makes you feel you are in a completely different city. And the food? Simply delicious; each bite is a treat. You can really feel the commitment from both the owner and staff to create a memorable experience for every guest. I’d give it a solid 11/10—highly recommend checking it out!
My friend and I came for the January Downtown Dining deal. We arrived early but they seated us immediately. The food was unbelievably good. Service was prompt and friendly. Anytime our drinks got low we were asked if we wanted a refill. No notes amazing night.

Always a pleasant experience here. The food is always good, the service is always tops, and the location is perfect for walking to in downtown near doco. They even have a great Happy Hour spread. Menus changes every season so you are always getting something new and fresh. The oysters we tried today was delicious however I wish they kept it on more ice so it stays chilled the whole time. Steaks were always good here and definitely a good vibe!
Beautiful place, amazing staff, overpriced food. Would I go back? Maybe, but it would not be one of my regulars if I lived in Sac. The appearance of the restaurant and the food is amazing, but it lacked flavor and even though I asked for Medium well, I received my steak medium rare (half of it wasn't cooked to perfection, but since my date want happy with her chicken, which to her the chicken was underwhelming, she ate half my steak and I ate half her chicken (which I thought it was juicy and we'll cooked, though I also felt it needed a little more flavor). But the waitress was so amazing, we didn't bring it up to her.
The burger was great. The catch of the day was bland flavor wise but the fish was very fresh. They also have a wide variety of wine and liquor.

We came in here for dine downtown Sacramento because we never been here before so good time to try a dish. Our reservation was at 7 so while I was taking to the hostess my wife and mother in law were standing behind me. The hostess said it would be a minute so that they can get our table ready. She was very pleasant and showed us to our table. As we were looking over the menu my wife says to me this guy was standing by the door eyeballing us I think he is the general manager, I said no I don't think so. Our server came and she was awesome took our order and while waiting for wine I looked up the general manager and sure enough it was him. This weird cuz usually if the general manager is in the house they go around talking to people but this guy just kept walking around eyeballing people strange. Anyway we got our food it was good for a prefixed menu and the price. Atmosphere is good loud but you can still talk to each other. Again our server was fantastic and we might come back because of that and try something else, hopefully if we do the general manager won't be eyeballing us like he did when we got there.
The food itself is excellent. We came by last night and sat at the last table across from the front door. The shareables and burger were amazing. The server could improve and be more honest; "the guy who makes our homemade sauces went home early" makes no sense - We never got our scoop of ice cream that we were offered, haha, but oh well. Overall, the ambiance is good.

I was honestly disappointed with my visit. The steakhouse didn’t have the drinks I wanted, and the burger I came for wasn’t available either. On top of that, my steak came out undercooked even though I clearly asked for well done. The service was decent, but it didn’t make up for the lack of options and mistakes with the food. For the price, I expected a lot more.
