Picked this place arbitrarily while visiting for the weekend, and so glad we did! The coffee drinks we had were well-made and delicious, and the food was scrumptious with large portions. We had a latte, an Americano, and a matcha latte. For food we ended up with 2 different omelette plates and the chicken pesto sandwich. We'll literally be back tomorrow for more 🤣😂

They don’t make cafes like this anymore. Clean but not polished. Chill, spacious (if not a bit bare), laid back, welcoming service, a great place to hang out with friends or work on your laptop. I had the seasonal matcha hot chocolate. Delicious. Can’t comment on food because i didn’t have any but they have a lot of options. With places like this, I feel like it’s more about the old school cafe atmosphere than fancy lattes. A great local hangout!

Yes meeting over drinks can be fun, but there is nothing like having a clear mind and chatting over a nice cup of Jane with a good playlist in the background. That is the exact experience that I had when meeting up with a friend/colleague to discuss career options. For years I have heard great things about and wanted to visit Old Soul Company; therefore, I was elated when she suggested that we meet at this location. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by the sounds of 90’s-early 2000’s R&B and Hip Hop (my favorite), the sounds of laughter, and a barista waiting to take our order. Since I had a caffeinated coffee earlier that day, I elected to order a decaffeinated cappuccino with brown sugar. Five minutes later our orders were ready. I’m not a coffee enthusiasts by any standards; however, I will say that this cappuccino tasted like it was made with love (flavorful)! My wife swears by their food and was slightly disappointed that I did not try it. However, being that the establishment is in close proximity to my office, I will definitely make a return visit in the near future!

Fantastic coffee shop, bakery and cafe with a name that fits their vibe. A great selection of coffee from around the world, choices of teas, lattes and assorted cafe drinks. This eclectic little gem is hidden away on a side street, but we'll worth the search. The atmosphere and selection of food and drinks makes this a welcome oasis from the bustle of downtown, a great study spot or a perfect place for a quiet date. I highly recommend checking out Old Soul.

Updated review for Christmas 2019. Their food has taken a huge step up in quality. The coffee is outta site. Thanks for all that you do!!! Ordered a cappuccino and omelette. The omelette and potatoes were overly salted and peppered. Would be better to lightly season and let the customer add more if necessary. Tasted not good and eyes are watering. The cappuccino was not bad but it had a sour and overly roasty flavor, not smooth. I think some people maybe big coffee connoisseurs probably like that style but I was not a big fan of it lol. Was more like a strong espresso flavor like you’d find in a cortado or macchiato. Also the setting is kind of ramshackle, pig pen setting with tables smattered around, very bright fluorescent lighting, and uncomfortable seats. Of course it’s more interesting than a Starbucks, especially with the wider menu selections. Also the exterior is appropriately old soul worthy.

Amazing vibe! Great and friendly service! Best avocado toast I’ve ever had! Visiting but would come back here!

Easily one of my favorite Old Soul spots. The vibe here is calm and cozy. comfy armchairs, tons of seating, and a nice mix of people working or just hanging out. It’s surprisingly big inside, so it never feels cramped. The banana bread (especially the gluten-free banana chocolate one) is incredible. It’s probably the best I’ve had anywhere. They roast their coffee and bake everything in-house here; everything feels fresh and made with care. Staff are friendly and chill, and the whole space just has a good energy. Only downside: the bathrooms. They’re shared with the brewery next door, which means they’re not always clean and sometimes you have to wait. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely not up to the same level as the café itself. Still, if you’re in the area, this is a must-stop for great coffee, good food, and an easy place to relax.

We love Old Soul. We have moved out of the area, but when we lived here we came here often and when visiting we enjoy their vibe and coffee. For Christmas we bought a monthly membership and they ship us a bag of coffee beans every month. So worth it! It’s something different every time and it’s been fun trying all the different types. Thank you for providing that service!

Doesn’t matter which Old Soul you go to they are all great! Today I took my cousins with me as they had never been and they loved it. Each has a unique building. And the food is always lovely and the coffee is very consistent which I love. Vanilla latte iced and hot is always my go to at OS. I had the avocado toast on their fresh made wheat made bread and it was sooooo yummy!! They always had a large selection of sweet and savory pastries. I almost forgot to mention that they have fresh baked English muffins and they are nothing like any one you have had before. I bought some to take home. Their breakfast sandwiches came on the English muffins. They also sell loaves of the wheat bread and other fresh baked items.

I tried the Banana Oat Latte for the first time, and it was excellent! I also ordered the avocado toast, which was not only delicious but visually stunning as well. The café itself has a spacious and inviting atmosphere, perfect for working on a computer or catching up with friends. Overall, a fantastic experience! Highly recommend!

This coffee shop was fantastic. Great coffee and satisfying breakfast. My favorite was the veggie quiche with potatoes. I would order that again and again! A little tricky to find the first time - head to the alley or look for the big mural pointing you to the back. Very glad to have visited while in Sacramento for a few days!

First time here and I was impressed. We had a turmeric latte, old soul chai and their veggie quiche. All were delicious. Sat next to a table of guests discussing an upcoming event with event coordinator/ café manager(?). The coordinator sounded very professional and listened to the guests' ideas. I was impressed and would certainly consider having an event there in the future. Diverse crowd with various energies (solo guest with laptop, family with kid, friends meeting up). Certainly a place I would visit solo or with friends. Midtown location is great. If I lived in midtown, I would frequent this great small business.

Rad little hidden alley gem ☕💎☕ Delicious, creamy, rich espresso. Carmel mocha was how do you say legit, authentic, rich & flavorful, not syrup tasting. Everything about the breakfast sandwich tasted freshly homemade and like there was a lot of love behind it. Best English muffin I've ever had in my life thus far.

Fell in love inside immediately. Love the room and seating options inside. Table and chairs are everywhere. The best part to me were the four oversized leather chairs with great western pattern. These are wondrously comfortable for conversation and reading. there are a few seats outside with shade provided. There are a good number of drink offerings. As a tea totaler, I appreciated the iced green teal; tasty and chill. The peanut butter cookie is just one of many offerings. Next time, I'm going to try the pizza. Yes, you read that correctly. All the locations have more than a lovely pastry display which is great! Parking is around the streets nearby or the parking lot right next to the shop. Wholeheartedly recommend this location for a good selection of food and drink as well as plenty of room for relaxing.

Oki'ish. Would not go out of my way to get there. They only offer medium roast for the espresso based drinks. The roast is a blend - no single origin choice. The barista is skilled in the execution but knows little about it's coffees. Surprising for a shop that roasts coffees. Almond milk available.

I've frequented all their locations, but I always gravitate towards the alley for its great space and pleasant hum of activity—a true ‘third space’. I’ve brought many friends and family here just to share the wonderful atmosphere. My critiques come from the perspective of a long-time local patron and foodie, hoping to help improve the experience. The Order: Iced Vanilla Latte w/ Oat milk, Iced Matcha Latte w/ Oat milk & Vanilla, Herbivore Breakfast Burrito & Tuna Melt w/ Potatoes. Potatoes: I can appreciate that Old Soul’s potatoes are a lighter, healthier version than the typical heavy, diner-style ones you find elsewhere. I’ve never had complaints about their quality or taste until today. While the flavor was good, they were significantly undercooked, which unfortunately detracts from any dish. A little 'bite' might be acceptable to some, but this was just short of raw and unpleasant. Burrito & Salsa: I've come to expect the burritos to be served neatly cut in half. This time, however, it was almost completely unraveled when it arrived, making it a mess to re-wrap and eat. The accompanying green salsa, which I usually find approachable, also missed the mark today. It had a slightly metallic or bitter taste and was more acidic than usual. For a reference on an outstanding tomatillo salsa, I'd suggest Taqueria Guadalajara in Davis—their recipe has been consistently excellent for years. On a positive note, I always enjoy that Old Soul offers Pepperplant hot sauce, as it's one of my favorites. A Note on Sandwiches: The breakfast sandwiches here used to be my absolute favorite menu item. I switched to the burritos because I noticed a trend of the bread being over-toasted. Excessively crispy bread often causes the contents of the sandwich to spill out with the first bite. After this happened a few times, I sadly accepted that this might be the new standard and it just wasn't for me anymore, even though I originally fell in love with the soft, slightly crispy texture. It's always a bummer to have a disappointing food experience here. I recognize this is just one meal out of the thousands served weekly, especially on a quiet Tuesday. However, every customer's experience is singular and deserves care, as feedback often arises when things go wrong, not right. I truly love this place and hope to continue enjoying Old Soul for many years to come.

was extremely disappointed by the customer service here. came in with 2 friends yesterday and ordered 3 drinks and sat down for about an hour. drinks were okay but it wasn’t until one of my friendly nicely asked one of the workers if they could take our picture. there were 2 ladies over the table and one of them replied saying “we’re pretty busy and have things to do, so no” in a very rude tone. there was no one in line and there were only about 3 small groups sitting at tables with their drinks and food already, otherwise we would have never asked them to take our picture. was very disappointed by the rudeness of the workers. we come here often and it was one of our favorite places and have never really had a bad experience until yesterday. will not be coming back here due to this experience.

Came in for a coffee date today and was pretty underwhelmed, 2 sandwiches with coffees 50$ with tip was a decent price . First time being in and not sure of the menu we had some inquires on dairy free options and drink recommendations. The person behind the counter today at 3pm seemed to be having a bad day or something but very flat toned and what felt like we were an inconvenience. Drinks were just ok both iced lattes had muted flavors and tasted watered down. The sandwiches were good but didn’t outweigh the service . All in all probably 5/10 don’t think we will return.
