Great little spot. I don't recommend getting the puposas with meat to go (havent tried just cheese) . They use really juicy meat and it get the bottom a little soggy (still delicious). Maybe that's how it should be. But I wasn't a fan. Buttttt the perfect thing is that the spot is extremely welcoming and comfy, so eating there will only make the meal so much better. I will definitely be back and I strongly recommend giving them a try. (While I was waiting I heard them form the "dough" so that means super fresh!!!! I think). I try random places all the time, and feel wierd not knowing how to pronounce the food names. The gentleman that helped me chuckled at my joke and totally helped me out. AWSOME SPOT!!!

Me and my boyfriend tried this place for the first time today and the food was delicious not only was it delicious but everything was fresh and made to order. My boyfriend is Salvadorian and was definitely impressed we had three different pupusa‘s one was all cheese, the second was cheese & refried beans and I forgot what the third one was. We also had the empanadas with condensed milk. I wasn’t a big fan, but my boyfriend liked them. We’ll definitely be back‼️

M

Birria and Revuelta pupusas were great! Consomé was hot and delicious. Cortido was spot on. Dining area was nice and clean! I’ll be back!

J

The pupusas here were phenomenal! Had the cheese and calabaza (zucchini), the cheese and jalapeño pupusa, and the birria pupusa. All three were really good! The jalapeño pupusa was spicier than anticipated, but still tolerable. The birria pupusa came with a little cup of consomé! Although I didn’t get a pic of the inside of the restaurant, they do have a section in the corner where you can buy different Salvadoran snacks! We will definitely be back to try other menu items and buy some of their snacks!

Salvi family here, had several home made pupusas throughout my time, this is the first restaurant that hits close to home. Pupusas are huge and the flavor on the revueltas is very authentic and delicious. Their plátanos are maduro and sweet. Beans are flavorful. They have a repeat daily customer in me.

Since moving from San Francisco to Amador County have been looking for a place to eat Pupusas I have found it at Pupusa Central in Sacramento! Freshly cooked, Yum 😋

I’ve never had Pupusas before and I’m glad I made this place my first experience because they are amazing. I’ve had three different pupusas, the quesabirria plate and the horchata and they have all been amazing. I strongly recommend making a stop here if you’ve ever wanted to try pupusas. 5/5.

R
Rebecca Eastman

The food is absolutely fantastic. We had pupusa and tamales and the Rice is out of this world. A must go and The staff were so kind.

J
Jesus Arechiga

Try the bombas, I can't believe pupusas could get better but wow, color me impressed. The birria is also great, the Horchata water and fried plantains are amazing. Totally worth the drive, we even ordered extra to go. Just be aware the service may get real slow if it is full of patrons, as everything is cooked at the moment; can't get more authentic than that.

Always the best, made to order food, hot and easy for take out! If you love papusas like we do..go here!! Would love if they offered how to classes on papusas and talpia cooking!

Great Pupusas!!! Been here twice and each time has tasted great. The chicken tamales are fantastic, I love that they’re cook in banana leaves (makes a difference). Even though it’s 30 minutes away, we’ll definitely be coming back.

Great pupusas and many varieties of pupusas. They have other things besides pupusas as well. Great for lent as Fri we eat fish. They have a little section with latin treats and foods. Baccala whole ready to go a mist try!

Their pupusas are awesome. Their customer service is impressive. It just feels like pupusas naturally take a long time to cook.

Had lunch there today and it was awesome. Those beans are awesome. I had the spinach pupusa and the cheese jalapeno pupusa, they are paired well with the rice and beans. I will be back.

Service was kind professional and timely. Food was DELICIOUS. And atmosphere was quiet with the baseball game on (muted and they put on music once more folks sat down) 10 of 10 would recommend! Cost: reasonable. 3 pausas and 20 oz horchata with 20% and tax came to $21

The food, the service, the prices are all unbeatable. I will happily keep coming back to this wonderful establishment.

AMAZING. Of course, we ordered pupusas lol and they were delicious, I ordered 1 Chicken and Cheese and 1 Birria pupusas. They came within 15-20 minutes (we had a party of 8). The service was immaculate, they came back every 5 mins, we wanted a little extra (like chiles toreados) (sautéd jalapeños) and they brought them right up without hesitance. Would definitely recommend for large groups and I will say this, they have VERY good music, music that takes you back to your Mexican and Salvadoran roots, very culturally enriching. The only thing I have to say about the atmosphere is that the music was a tad bit loud, so to have a conversation let’s say 2-3 people across the table you had to elevate your voice a little bit. Other than that, amazing, would TOTALLY recommend.

10/10 definitely will come back!! Pupusas are soft and delicious not greasy at all. Everything we order was delicious even the aguas frescas. And the services 10/10. We drove 30+min to get here. Definitely worth it.

K

Absolutely fantastic! The gentleman that served us was very kind, patient and friendly. He let us test out all the flavors of their horchatas. He took our semi complicated orders and it all came out correctly. The pupusas were so fresh, so flavorful, so delicious!! We found this place on a whim and now it'll be the only place I go for pupusas!!

Pupusa Central is amazing! My favorite pupusa is the pupusa con birria - it's absolutely delicious. The prices are super affordable, but the food is top-notch. The ambience reminds me of home: simple, cozy, and family-owned, which makes it even more special. The horchata salvadoreña is incredible too - it tastes just like champurrado, rich and comforting. The customer service is always so kind and welcoming; you can tell the people here are hardworking and genuinely care about their customers. I love this place and definitely recommend it to anyone craving authentic, flavorful food at a great price.

I had the food to-go and plated it myself: chicken enchiladas, beef/chicken/jalapeno pupusas, and cabbage salad. It was first time trying the Salvadoran food. Tasty to the last bite. Don't forget to lick the plate!

I tried the bean and cheese pupusa and the spinach and cheese, both were delicious! Highly recommend. The Maracuyá juice was too sweet to drink, blech!

My first visit was at night and I had to make several uturns as Google maps directed me to this shop, but I couldn't see it. If this happens to you, stay motivated- delicious food awaits. Papusas central has really friendly and welcoming employees. The atmosphere is casual but clean. They had a small and attractive market of imports mostly from El Salvador, football ⚽️ on television, and the other people who came into eat seemed just as happy with their food as we were. We just got papusas, but with several different filings. Cheese and jalapeño is my go to, and it was very yummy. We also got just cheese papusa, beans and cheese, and chicken with cheese. Every. Single. Thing. Was delicious. Generally the person I was eating with does not like cabbage, but they liked the cabbage and salsa which is served as a side to the papusas. We came close to closing and I asked for our food to go, but they were extremely hospitable and insisted they would be doing side work for quite awhile and encouraged us to feel welcome to eat there. I asked for our food packed to go in case we couldn't finish it, but we ended up eating every bite there. Definitely check this place out.

In a nutshell; nice place to visit if you're interested in trying pupusas. It's in a rather conspicuous part of town and as you park in the lot the place windows are noticeable blacked out, which I believe is for safety reasons. Going in we were kindly seated by one of the servers as we got close to the cashier. Server was accommodating and kindly answered all our inquiries. The place may get rather warm as it doesn't feel as there's air conditioner but just fans but that wasn't that much of a bothersome. The pupusas were great, didn't take too long at all to arrive. Burrito tasted alright and was filling. There's the usual free chip station as alike with other Hispanic or similar themed establishments. Overall neat Salvadoran pupusas.

Truly salvadorian! In my experience, the "ensalada" drink is what adds the icing on the cake when having pupusas. Its main ingredient is the fruit that produces the cashew, but a totally different flavor. If you have not tried it, give it a go.

So good! We went to Cielito Lindo in Ataco, El Salvador, where we were introduced to loroco (native flower). This spot also has loroco off menu, and the queso con loroco is delicious! We added shrimp and by far the best. The pupusas are made to order, the food is delicious, the staff is friendly. The outside is blacked out and looks like it is closed, but if you try it you won't regret!

First time trying Pupusa Central since they opened recently & they have definitely found themselves a regular customer. 10/10 experience. The food was delicious, we had pupusas revueltas de maiz & de arroz, pupusas de queso con loroco, and the Salvadoran horchata. The pupusas were hot, fresh, and very big! The staff is very kind and the restaurant is very clean. It felt very welcoming with the music playing in the background. Will for sure recommend this location to my friends & family, I can’t wait to visit again!

Yes! The pupusas are amazingly delicious. Any and all of them. I've come here a few times. But another plate on the menu that has not been talked about enough is their mojarra frita (fried whole fish). Let me tell you that this speciality item is soooo worth the wait! Best pescado frito around for sure. And the beans and rice complimented it so nicely. On a note, if you are in a rush, I recommend to place a phone order ahead of time as the food is made fresh.

I discovered this gem on door dash and frequent it at least once a week since then. I’ve tried every variety and there isn’t a bad one on the menu. Everything is fresh, packaged well and the price is fantastic. The sleeper hit is the side of beans you get with the rice. My favorite is the pork, cheese and beans and the cheese with jalapeño. Give them a shot, you won’t be left hungry or disappointed.

Placed a large order of pupusas to go with orders of plátanos con crema y frijoles, and it was ready within the time they said (20min). All piping hot and packaged very nice and well. The pupusas were delicious along with the curtido and salsas. The fried plantains with cream and soft cheese (queso fresco) and beans spot on. Definitely will order or dine-in again from Pupusas Central.

Ordered 3 different kinds of Pupusas today for lunch & a Horchata, the Pupusas are freshly made to order and came with the traditional Salvadoran style cabbage slaw & red sauce . Their slaw and red sauces is better than most other places and the pupusas them selfs were extremely Yummy. The Horchata was very good without being overly sweet like some other places. I Recommend this place. “I will be Back” 😍

I recently visited Pupusas Place, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious—a great deal given the quality and flavor. I get that it’s a modest spot, but it was disappointing that the place didn’t look as clean or welcoming as the photos in other reviews suggested. Grossly smudgy windows and a lack of general cleanliness took away from the experience. The biggest letdown was the service time. My plate was served a full 20 minutes after the rest of my party, with the excuse that they ran out of plates. Oddly enough, other tables that ordered after us were served before me. Overall, I'd come back for the food, but I'd love to see the restaurant work on cleanliness and consistency in serving times. Great food and good prices, but please make the environment match the quality of what’s on the plate.

This place is a hidden gem for some authentic Salvadorian food. The Pupusas are made fresh to every order and you're not going to be disappointed with the wait. Homemade salsa and Salvadorian horchata are on point that it had me reminisce on days when I was a child visiting family from El Salvador.

I really wanted to come on here and give a glowing review, but unfortunately, we had such a bad experience here. My daughter and I got to the restaurant at 8 pm with the intention of ordering food for the whole family. There was a customer who could not hold back from making crud comments, but I chose to ignore him and order anyway. It's not the business' fault that someone is an idiot. I placed an order to go, paid/tipped, and sat down with my daughter to wait for our food. About 15 minutes later, quite a few people started to walk in. They gave their order at the counter, and all sat down at tables. After their orders were in, they were all served their food. My daughter and I watched as everyone ate the meal they just ordered at the counter. At 8:50 p.m.,(almost an hr later) I was finally called to the counter to get my order. The guy said, 'Sorry, we had other orders to fill'. I looked around the restaurant as I left and knew exactly why we were treated like that. The worst part is that I went there because I wanted to support a local business, and this place has such great reviews. This type of treatment is absolutely never okay. I was very nice, not pushy or demanding, etc. If they didn't want us to be there, they could've just said so. I was hoping that they just forgotten about us, but the cashier made it clear they were busy filling other orders. Please don't take our money, if you don't want to serve us. I didn't deserve this treatment, and neither did my daughter. Shame on all of you guys who were there that night. I am absolutely so disappointed that it's 2025 and people still have the audacity to act this way.
