After a misunderstanding about waiting for delivery when waiting to be seated. The service was fast and awesome. The waitress never let our glass go empty and was very attentive. Food was fresh and hot. Good was so good and the chips and salsa were on point. Tea was not perfect. I give this restaurant a 10 out of 10

Finally conquering my case of writer's block, one day I will finish that audiobook, I decided to take a stroll down memory lane to my old stomping grounds in sunny San Antonio. And who better to spend time with than my loyal companions, my sister corgies? These adorable yet clueless pups are always there for me, even if they can't quite grasp the concept of fetch. Unfortunately, the scorching Texas heat put a damper on our outdoor activities, so we opted for a lunch outing instead. And boy, did we hit the jackpot with Eddies Taco House Bar & Grill. This place had been a tantalizing mirage on my previous visits, but I finally decided to take the plunge this time. As we approached the restaurant, the mouthwatering scent of Tex-Mex cuisine beckoned us in. If I had the ability to magically float towards delicious food like in a cartoon, you better believe I would have been airborne. We were greeted by a warm hostess who promptly seated us and informed us of the happy hour specials. Naturally, I couldn't resist ordering margaritas for the whole table. Perusing the menu, I settled on the Eddies deluxe plate, while my dining companions opted for the Eddies special and the chicken fajitas. When our meals arrived, we were floored by the generous portion sizes. I spent the next hour or two happily devouring scrumptious food, sipping on margaritas, and basking in the delightful company. It was a meal to remember, and I already can't wait for my next San Antonio adventure. Cheers to many more visits to Eddies in the future!

**Update** Been back 3 more times, to get the Thursday Throwback Special. You cant beat the $5.99 deal. I've ordered 3 plates to go one day, ate 1 at the restaurant for lunch 1 day, and one for dinner most recently. My dinner visit I was also given tortilla chips and salsa, and that combined with the plate was more food than I could eat for just $6. Absolutely amazing for the price. Service has been good on every visit, even when it was super busy at dinner time. $5.99 2 enchiladas, rice, beans, small steak, tortillas, & drink. (Thurs Only) If you haven't tried the Throwback Special, you have to stop by on a Thursday, this might be the best deal in town. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tried Eddies for the first time. Had heard lots of good things about it. For my first time I ordered the Mexican plate. My enchiladas were good, some of the better ones I've had, but a bit lacking flavor wise. Id put them in the top 10 locally, but probably nearer to #10.. The charro beans were good, the tamale was below average and the crispy taco was decent. Prices were decent, portions were good, but with no shortage of Mexican places It didn't stand out on any of the items I had. I went between lunch and dinner on a weekend and there weren't many specials. I would probably return during the week for one of the specials, like the enchiladas and steak.

I went on Thursday morning around 9:45am. The service was great. Waitress was friendly, food didn't take too long, restaurant was clean. I had 1 carne guisada, 2 potato & egg with cheese. Carne guisada is the best so far that I've tried. Absolutely zero fat and tender, flavor was good. Yet I messed up by asking for cheese on my potato and egg. The cheese tasted gross. Like it was refrigerated without being covered. (Though I know that's not true) I just couldn't finish my 2nd and didn't bother with my 3rd taco. I didn't even want to take it home. I'll definitely come again, just won't add cheese to anything. Everything else was really good. Price was decent too. No complaints on anything except the nasty cheese.

The food is always delicious. Portions decent. The most recent time however was a bit rough. Service was neglectful and they are now charging for chips and salsa. A previous photo shows huge hearty chips they were what I remember complimentary. The bin with nothing but broke Itty bitty chips I paid $4 for with an addition for refills. Im trying not to be picky I just feel things are turning the wrong way and I hope they dont continue down this path.

It's not a bad restaurant but I wouldn't go back. The food is average and overly seasoned. I didn't like that they charged for chips when in most restaurants they are included. Pay $60 for three orders with 2 sodas and 1 water. I prefer to pay the same value or more in other restaurants in the city. Half of the restaurant has the chairs on top of the tables, this does not look tidy. It could be a better place, the service is good.

I’m extremely disappointed. I ordered a small menudo, expecting the usual small cup size you get at most Mexican restaurants. Instead, I was given a tiny container, literally the size of a side of rice. For $8, this was absolutely not worth it. To be clear, it was not two cups of menudo. One container was menudo, the other was charro beans. When I placed my order over the phone, I was already asked if I wanted fried beans or charro beans, which tells me the beans were part of another item, not extra menudo. I ordered the Thursday special for $6.99, and with the menudo my total came out to $15. That means I paid almost $8 for a few spoonfuls of menudo, which feels very misleading. I was honestly so upset that I almost called to complain, but I didn’t. My husband told me to just leave it, and also because I didn’t want to stress myself out or argue with someone knowing they probably would’ve just said that’s their portion size and there’s nothing they can do. If this is how small your “small menudo” is, it should be clearly explained when ordering. I would not have paid that price had I known. Overall, this was overpriced and disappointing.

Some places really need to step into the century we’re actually living in. Eddie’s is still making people SIGN a credit-card slip in the drive-thru… in 2025. The same germy pen everyone’s been touching after handling cash, steering wheels, phones, breakfast tacos, coughs, sneezes and then those same hands go right back to making food. It’s not just outdated. It’s gross. And the wild part? There is zero reason to even require a signature anymore. Banks don’t need it. Card companies don’t need it. Nobody needs it. It’s basically the rotary phone of payment methods… cute for nostalgia, terrible for efficiency. It’s time for Eddie’s to modernize, streamline, sanitize, and stop passing around that pen like it’s communion. Service was horrible, waited 15 min to have order placed. Once order placed waited for 45 mins for food. When food arrived it was not what we ordered. So they came out in 15 mins with fajita plate they were cold. Tell the waitress you took him back however I was still waiting for a combination plate which came with one enchilada one beefy taco rice and beans. Which was already an hour still hadn't received my plate. So here come the food 2nd plate of fajitas hot but they were tough like they were cooked again over the skillet. My combination plate was not very good. The margaritas with nothing but crushed ice had no flavor. Very disappointed for the price we paid for over $50.

TLDR: Broken Egg Shells in my food. $12 chorizo and egg plate. I've eaten here a few times since moving in the area. Breakfast tacos are one my favorite past times. And breakfast plates occasionally. On two separate (almost a year apart), I got eggshells in my food. I stopped eating there after the first time but figured hey shit happens. Well, eating raw egg shells is a good way to get Salmonella
