Opinions de El Chaparral San Antonio
I had their cheese enchiladas great as usual. I really enjoyed their virgin pina colada . My husband loved his tacos we will be back .
I really liked the place! Food was good, the manager (or owner not sure who he was) was very polite and helpful, as was our waitress and the staff. Nice place to go and chill while eating tasty food. I would definitely go back, although not very often because it is pricey.
Consistently good food! I am very satisfied every time I come here. Never disappointed. Even had a wedding rehearsal dinner here. Nice accomodations for the gathering. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Came here for lunch today and it was amazing! My husband and I were impressed from the second we walked through the door to the second we left. I got the southwest chicken with jalapeño sauce and subbed out the rice for veggies that were just perfectly seasoned and sautéed I highly recommend that dish it was so delicious. Our waiter Edwardo I believe was his name was very attentive and friendly. He was also very helpful with questions we had on the menu. It was well worth every penny we will definitely be back.
I could eat their salsa all day—seriously addictive. The picodilla meat was absolutely incredible, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The decor nails that authentic Mexico vibe and makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. On top of that, the staff was friendly, fast, and incredibly welcoming. From the food to the atmosphere to the service, everything was spot on. We’ll definitely be back.
My go to for yummy Tex mex and tasty Ritas! All the crew here at the Redland location are awesome, but Pedro is our guy! He takes care of every detail and makes sure that the entire group is happy and leaves with a smile on their face! Fav meals include the Green chicken enchiladas and the Sophia’s Fajita Nachos (combo). Beef fajitas are also the bomb! Oh, and margaritas are fab!! Always a recommendation for family and out of towners! If you haven’t tried this place, what are you waiting for?!?
Let me start off by saying I love this place and the margaritas are awesome My favorite is the Blue Paradise Margarita. My children took me there Saturday August the 23rd 2025 around 8 PM for a birthday dinner it was 12 of us and the waitress took really good care of us and my grandson just loves the salsa He asked the waitress more salsa please and lemonade our food was good everyone had a great time I used to go here a lot with my spouse before he passed away This will always be a special place for me the ambience is really nice we were seated in the big room towards the back nice and quiet they still had a nice crowd at that time. Thank you to all the staff. See you soon.
I really enjoy this place when you first walk in its nice and clean, beautiful ambience with art on the walls. Our waitress came and was very attentive. Kept our drinks nice and full. The family all ordered something different and everything came out. Great .tortilla soup, bean and cheese tacos street tacos and a Mexican place no complaints from the family. this place is definitely worth a second trip. I even caught a picture of an angel.
We celebrated my Mother’s 86 birthday at this restaurant. We called to set up the dinner however you can go online to their website. Ryan the restaurant manager was so accommodating and professional helping us make her party a success. We had to move from one room to a larger room to accommodate more people. The wait staff were amazing. Our server America was quick and amazing at keeping everything organized and taking orders. She was also so sweet to my Mother. We had a such great time there. My Mother picked El Chaparral for her birthday. Thank you for helping us make good memories for our family. Our food was hot, delicious and served pretty quickly considering we had 15 people in our party. The atmosphere was pretty festive and friendly. We will be back again soon for lunch or dinner. Side note chips and salsa were delicious and addictive save room for your meal.
First time here. Lizardo was terrific and took great care of us! I am vegan, tried the enchiladas with chipotle. The sauce was very salty but I was hungry so inhaled it all. No hot tea for me. Large, colourful room with beautiful art. Happy place.
We celebrated a birthday at the Redland Rd/1604 location. It was quite pricey for what we received. My husband and I had the Carlos dinner. The tamale that comes on the plate was hard like it was warmed up too much. We both tasted it and it definitely wasn't fresh. The enchiladas appeared like they had also been warmed up too. I definitely like the food at the Helotes location better. The waiter was very nice.
Food is average Mexican fare, but way overpriced! Service is good, and I love the family involment in the restaurant, but it's just too expensive, especially for small portions. I ought to be able to take home a second meal for what it costs, but it's barely enough for the in-restaurant meal. Upscale atmosphere.
I got a gift card to this place. So, my wife and I decided to go here on a Sunday afternoon. The place really looks nice. I usually like to sit in a booth, but all the booths, in this place are two tops. That's pretty weird! Anyway, we sat at a table. The place really looks nice as you can see from the photo. And that's about the sum of it. Our waiter, I think, was new. Anyway he didn't seem to know much about what was going on. He couldn't even tell me if one of the meals had rice and beans or not. I ordered chile relleno, and my wife ordered enchiladas. We got served chips and salsa. The chips were kind of hard. They weren't really the light chips that I like. The salsa was kind of like tomato sauce run through a blender with some onions. Had very little flavor and very little seasoning. We waited for quite a while before our food came. When it did come it wasn't really pleasant to look at. It wasn't really bad but not pleasant. The chili relleno was soggy. The flavor was okay but not something you would expect in Texas. The rice was better, but the refried beans had very little flavor. I wouldn't put them on my table. My wife said that her enchiladas were good. And I tasted them and they were good. Not excellent but good. So I guess if you come here get the enchiladas. The flavor on the chile relleno was okay but it didn't have a lot of spice or anything. It wasn't really something you would expect it South Texas. My wife says she can use the rest of the card to bring one of her friends for lunch or something. I almost certainly won't be back.
If you in their dining room the food is usually good. If you get to go orders you can always count on the order missing something. The last 3 times I’ve picked up orders there was always something missing. One time it was 2 guacamole salads. Then it was half the order which was a taco and chalupa was missing and tonite it was tortillas. When I call their solution is to offer me the opportunity to drive back and get what’s missing or call ahead and they make sure it’s right. This poor customer service has convinced me to not patronize this restaurant again. In San Antonio there are too many other restaurants that care about your business.
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for quite sometime, pre and post covid. Granted it was after 6pm om Friday night, however, when we walked in rather than giving us the option of waiting for a table or taking what is available, the hostess simply walked away with menus. On her way back, she instructed us to follow the server designated to seat us to which, they proceeded to walk us to the way to back, i wouldnt have minded but there was a large group of over 15 people and us. That alone in a small room is call for all kinds of issues when we were just a family of 3. So, the lady who was a server im assuming, walks us to two tables at the back wall and told us she would get us chairs. There were no chairs and work trays on top. Um, no. I would not be seated as an afterthought. I told her I did not want a table there, politely. Her response was, well, this is all we have unless you want to be placed on the waiting list. I instructed my family to go. The hostess saw us leave and said Enjoy! I will not return. There's plenty of mexican restaurants with better service and seating around the Redland area. My money is just as green as the next guy and am never treated as such at any other establishment. I've worked customer service since high school and there is no better way to lose patronage than crappy customer service.
