Opinions de La Panaderia San Antonio
Worth the hype and and the stand in line. Freshly baked great taste and great service. We are walked past them in the evening and saw the bakers hard at work… breakfast toast am proved their hard work of love! The line was long but it moved quickly. Takeout and eat in is the same line so don’t be worried you get your food really quick. They have large variety of hot drinks and cold stuff too. A lot of pastries you can try. We loved every thing we ate
Absolutely love this place. Everything we’ve tried has been great, but the croissants and bread are especially outstanding -fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. You can really tell the quality of the baked goods here. Whether it’s pastries or savory items, everything tastes thoughtfully made. The drinks pair well with the food, and the overall vibe is relaxed and enjoyable for dining in. Definitely one of my go-to bakeries, and I’ll keep coming back.
Great spot, but had a line when we showed up around 11am. The bread is fantastic! We ordered the Build Your Own Torta with Birote bread and Al Pastor (onions on side). Amazing bread choice! The pineapple kept the sandwich moist, and the meat itself was very tender. We also ordered the Fiesta Lobster Benedict which had a very good sauce combination. The chocolate concha was just alright. It had a chalky chocolate crust on the very soft and fluffy bread. Also ordered a hot chocolate and latte, both were great. Service was quick, and there were multiple employees keeping an eye out for finished plates and clearing it away quickly. As mentioned before, there is a line, and the line remained just as long for our hour we were there. Be prepared to wait for great food!
I had a great experience at La Panadería Bakery Café this morning. I went with my family before the lunch rush, and it was my first time visiting. The pastries were the highlight, the bow tie was heaven, the vanilla concha was sweet, and the tequila almond croissant was amazing. We devoured everything so quickly I barely got photos. I also enjoyed their Mexican Cubana torta. We grabbed a tres leches croissant and a Nutella Cruffin to go. The atmosphere was cozy and festive with the Christmas decorations, the staff were friendly, and everything came out fresh. My family enjoyed their coffee, and I loved my green juice. Definitely a spot we’d come back to.
The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We ordered two cheesecakes, an apple empanada, and a Dubai chocolate pastry. We all really enjoyed what we got. They were all very tasty and the pastries were flaky. I will say the place had a sour rag smell to it, which is less than enjoyable. But would recommend the place anyway.
We walked to La Panadería from our hotel around 11 a.m., and the wait was minimal maybe 10 minutes. They have a huge selection of breads and bakery items, all of which looked very fresh and well made. We originally planned to order the French toast, but they had already run out of the bread they use for it, so my daughter ended up skipping it. I ordered a concha and shared it with her. The texture was soft, the sugar topping was sweet and flavorful, and it looked beautiful. They also have a bakery cart outside, but it was already closing by the time we arrived. There are two lines you will have to wait on if busy one outside and then you will move to the inside one.Even with that, the line moved quickly. While waiting, the staff was helpful in explaining menu items, which made ordering easier. I also tried a side of fideo, and I really enjoyed it especially with the potatoes added in. Once I got my number and sat down, my food came out fairly fast. The seating area was spacious, the atmosphere was nice, and it was an easy walk back to the hotel afterward. Overall, it was a good experience with fresh bakery items, friendly staff, and fast service, even during late morning hours.
Not sure why this restaurant chain has very delicious food and a hellacious locations to get parking but I assure you, its worth it. This is my 3rd La Panaderia location and I never regret it. Me and my friend happened to stumble on this location and it was just divine. High quality food with some fusion flavors and in house sodas. I highly recommend to stop by any of the locations if possible. You might have to fight someone for a parking spot or simply Uber over lol.
Delicious! As a self-proclaimed concha connoisseur, I have to say this was the best concha I’ve had—from Mexico to San Antonio! I’ll definitely be dreaming about these conchas. The burgers and the steak sandwich also deserve an honorable mention. Everything was absolutely amazing!
Great place in downtown San Antonio! Was a little nervous about the wait as there always seems to be line out front. But we took and chance and were not disappointed! We made it inside pretty quickly. Had the fideo and club sandwich along with a few select pastries to go. Great service as well! Definitely be back!
Soooo good!!! We came here following a recommendation and OMG it is good. Probably one of the best breakfasts of my life! Mexican treats like pan de muerto available. And loads of different treats like croissants of many different flavours, cookies and conchas. The hot chocolate was sooo yummy! Had loads of whipped cream so maybe that made it better. Price wise it was fair, I think we paid $5 per item. They were all big so I would say it’s fair. There is cold water available as well. If you have a chance, come enjoy breakfast or brunch here! 100% recommend! It is also clean and staff are really nice.
Loved this place so much I didn't want to go anywhere else! Went for coffee and pastries each morning and it's busy but the staff is incredibly nice and efficient. My favorite pastries were the peinetas and the pineapple empanada. The Mexican hot chocolate with espresso was to die for, hot and iced!
Whether you’re looking to have a light breakfast, boozy brunch, or pastries to go, this is your spot! They have empanadas filled with guava, pineapple, strawberry, or apple deliciousness! I also got jalapeño and plain kolaches (they’re huge). Shout out to Val for seeing that I was a customer that needed accessibility assistance and prepping everything in a way that was easy for me to carry. This location gets pretty packed even in the early hours of the morning but it’s still a nice ambiance. Make sure you find suitable parking options beforehand.
Maybe one of the best bakeries I've been to anywhere in the US. Phenomenal flavor, textures, presentation is fantastic. Somewhat traditional European in its atmosphere. Open dining with plenty of seating. The indoor dining can also be opened to the outdoor seating . Absolutely great. The setting downtown San Antonio downtown architecture lends itself to a very classuc European cafe setting. Very clean and professional staff as expected. I had a brunch with my girlfriend while visiting from NY. Such a nice treat . This place is a gem. I highly recommend for any occasion. Very classy
The avocado toast was incredibly fresh, and the portions were generous. The coffee was delicious, and there were so many cute, atmospheric spots that were perfect for photos. I truly loved the food, the overall experience, and the vibe of this place. The staff were very friendly and polite. Absolutely yummy!
Loved the freshly baked conchas. Ham and cheese croissant was flaky and delicious too. Went there before 9am, there was quite a long queue but the line moved quickly. Staff were busy yet maintained pleasant attitudes. Coffee was decent, Carajillo yummy. There were many items on the menu we wanted to try. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.
This location is just as good as the original with twice the space and twice the line. There's is a lunch rush with a line that extends out the door. Many people peruse the menu a while before ordering so look into moving to the front. The best menu item in the bakery is the tequila almost bread. The side of soup is enormous if you don't want to commit to a full order. The best sandwich is the Mexican Cubano. Try the croissant bread.
After a huge disappointment at another place that advertises itself as a bread seller on the Riverwalk and it was the most horrible experience, we came here the next day and oh my God! It was the most delicious pan dulce I’ve ever tasted. The croissants they use for breakfast are the same, excellent texture and a delicious, buttery flavor. The soups were on point and also incredibly good. Love it
Fabulous place and worth the wait! The waiting line is justified and moves faster than you think. While in line to order inside, you'll pass by an irresistible display of fresh baked goods that you'll be tempted to purchase one of each! 😋 Your beverages and order will be delivered to your table by number. The large mimosa has a small bottle of prosecco face down in a huge goblet of juice, so be prepared! We had the tequila almond croissant french toast which is out of this world deliciousness in a large portion. Highly recommended. On the list the next time I'm in San Antonio!
Thank you Rick for being extremely hospitable and welcome with our family. We had a big party and really appreciate the extra time you showed us. the staff was amazing, helpful and gave us some great suggestions. as a local and my first time trying this place i’m so pleased and will definitely be back to try some more amazing treats, food and drinks.
I visited La Panadería in Downtown San Antonio during a trip after several friends recommended it, and it truly lived up to the hype. We were seated immediately, no lines, no wait and the service was excellent from the moment we walked in. Since it was around lunchtime, many of the sweet breads were already sold out, but there were still some conchas left, including chocolate ones. I tried a chocolate concha and it was delicious. I also tasted really rosca de reyes pastry, which was very good. But the star of my visit was the milanesa torta absolutely exquisite, a true 10/10. The bread was perfectly crunchy, the filling was delicious, and every bite was amazing. It came with a side of fideo soup; that one wasn’t my favorite, so I’d give it a 7/10, as I’ve had better elsewhere. The staff was incredibly friendly. One of the team members even gifted me a small muffin-like pastry with a white concha topping so thoughtful, and it tasted great. Overall, I 100% recommend La Panadería. Great service, delicious food, and I would definitely return to try more items from their menu.
We visited the restaurant around 10:00am on a Saturday. It was busy but the wait was 10mins or less. The door host, he was awesome. Greeted us with a smile and sparked conversation. The young ladies that attend the bar and bakery were kind, helpful, and efficient with serving the guest. The atmosphere was engaging as well. You have a choice to sit at bar lengh counter height tables, large round tables that seat 8, or tables that seat 2-4. My medium-well steak with scrambled eggs and Pico de Gallo was fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly.
The croissants and empanadas were amazing!! Best flavor and so fresh! Service was amazing by our greeter. We waited outside for about 20 minutes but it was okay because the greeter was positive and explained all the good foods we had to try. I would recommend to have more staff handling pastries because the one young lady seemed irritated with us. Not sure if she was having a bad day. Overall experience was amazing and my latte was delicious!!!
Every time I am in San Antonio I have to make a stop here. I am addicted to their Tequila Almond Croissants, their Conchas and their scrambled egg tortas. Everything is delicious, their staff is friendly and clearly happy to be there and the music is always great. Yes, there is a huge line if you want to sit down at a table, but your patience will be rewarded. This time I tried an Abuelita Cold Brew and it is possibly the best cold brew coffee I have ever had. Their coffee has no right being as delicious as it is considering how good their bread is. Thank you La Panaderia for filling the concha shaped hole in my heart so perfectly.
This is 10/10! Don’t worry about the line, it moves fast. The food is phenomenal and always freshly made. The coffee specialties actually taste like coffee and are made with all the best ingredients. I had the Mexican Cubano and the food actually looks just like the pictures on the menu. The concha is light and a dessert you don’t have to feel guilty eating because they have mini ones! Breakfast all day! Ask for Amado so he can give you the rundown on the food and the local events! He is cheerful and can taylor your love your food and things to do in San Antonio! Favorite place thus far!
This is a great place to eat, every time it has been spot on! The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Both Amado and Rafa’s customer service was truly outstanding. They both were welcoming to me and my family. Don’t miss out and make time to stop by and check it out you won’t go wrong❣️😋🥐
I love trying pastries everywhere I travel, but I’ve never found anything that quite matched the excellence of what I’ve tasted in Europe… until now! My daughter and I were visiting the River Walk when we stumbled upon this charming little pastry café — and oh my goodness, what a find! The display case was filled with so many tempting options that we couldn’t choose just one (so of course, we didn’t). We picked five treats to sample, and every single one was incredible. Favorites? The Tequila Almond Croissant stole my heart, but the Pan de Muerto, Peineta, Nutella Cruffin, and Ham & Swiss Croissant were all next-level delicious. We enjoyed a couple right there in the cozy café and saved the rest for later — though I’ll admit, it was hard to wait! Truly some of the best pastries I’ve had anywhere. I only wish I lived closer because I’d be here every week. If you’re in San Antonio, this place is an absolute must-stop — whether you’re grabbing breakfast, lunch, or just craving something sweet and special!
We visited this restaurant this morning and was surprised to see such a long line outside waiting. We got in line and it only took us about 24 minutes to order and get a table. The restaurant manager came out and greeted us. All gave some rules about not cutting in line and shared how humble they felt for assault to be waiting to eat at their restaurant. I thought this was very nice of him to do. The ambience inside was very nice, casual, and modern. The pastries looked delicious. I had a chocolate s’mores croissant and it was amazing! I ordered the build your own torta. I chose a breakfast eggs, bacon & cheese and I loved it. I recommend La Panadería on Houston St near the Majestic theatre.
Overall, food is good here. Wait time before ordering is about 15 minutes around 10am. You wait outside for about 10 min and another 5 min inside. There are a lot of tables. Turnover seemed pretty decent as there were several available tables. Food was served after about 10 minutes after ordering. You take a number and sit down. French Toast Clásico is good. Edges are somewhat crunchy and middle is soft...good texture difference and flavor. Dubai Chocolate Cold Foam Latte and Abuelita Chocolate Cold Foam Latte are good. Especially the Dubai chocolate...it had tiny peices of filo dough for texture and flavor. I recommend drinking without the straw to get the full effect. Churro Cinnamon Croissant is good but a little to crunchy on the edges for my liking. Strawberry empanada is good. I would return here.
La Panadería in downtown San Antonio did not disappoint! I tried the Tequila French Toast and oh my goodness, perfection! The right touch of cinnamon, perfectly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Amado was amazing, so kind and friendly, making the whole experience even better. And the Frida Kahlo? A must-try! I’ll definitely be back for round two.
The bread on my sandwich was a bit hard and the croissant also was dry and a bit tough. The service was ok, I prefer the service at the six flags location. Overall it’s ok I would recommend other places to visit. If the owners can match the service from their other store I would give a better rating.
