They have upgraded! Brand new building! This place in all honesty was a bump, and now its a luxury for a McDonald's and fast food restaurant. I now feel good about eating here. The staff does not stop cleaning. Great great first impression and great new design! PS, it's grad reopening happened about a month ago I believe!

Profesional and quick to fix mistakes. Im not exactly sure the name of the manager but it sounded like Bernardo, I received a completely wrong order and wasted an hour after getting home driving and waiting in line again to get my correct order. I told the drive through employee about my order and asked if there was a voucher or refund for my time wasted and was offered three cookies which I declined. I then got sent to a window where the manager came out and spoke to me. He apologized for the mistake, prepared my order himself and even handed me a free meal voucher. I think we forget how bad lunch rush hour is for staff and it can be frustrating, but with a good manager like the one I encountered it makes mishaps a lot easier to deal with.
This place has the best management and staff. In the whole McDonald’s I ever been to. And I been to 46 states. They have the best manager Rowena!!! And Diana!! Rowena loves her job and making sure everyone is taken care of. She is a great employee!
Rowena was AMAZING!!! ( I really hope I’m spelling her name right). She deserves ALL the recognition!!! The night before they were pretty busy and they forgot part of my order in the drive through. I came back the next day just to ask for the difference. Rowena helped me out and made sure I left with a smile! Best customer service I’ve ever received, I live down the street and will definitely be coming back! Only McDonald’s I go too! Thank you so much for your kindness!!!!
I go there once in a while for their ice coffee, pan cakes & ice cream cones. Friendly staff & the dining area is kept clean, but no security guard. It is located where a lot of trouble makers are roaming around the restaurant. I think this franchise is making good profit because it is always busy, I’m sure they can afford to have a security guard for the safety of their customers, especially the students who goes there to eat.
Everything was great including the staff except for a lot of kids ditching school being truant and no police around to stop it.🤔🫢😥

Good food and great service. I had a large bacon quarter pounder meal, fries were nice and salty, with a coke no ice. Something that I am particular about and am very happy to say that they still filled my drink up all the way. Great service and hospitality. The wait time was about 15-20 min? From ordering to paying and finally receiving. So this location is one of the few that stays open 24 hours and may get backed up, but the workers are great.
Food is great but not all of the deals are displayed on the app. Also, advertising Minuted Maid Lemonade as premium even in the sense is misleading. There’s no reason why McDonald’s couldn’t have a Premium Lemonade like Wendy’s or Sonic. If you ever grasp the grandeur of Chick-fila; then McDonald’s would move the bar again.
The night shift at this location are not only fast and efficient, but also excellent customer service! That is amazing especially because it looked like only 2 guys were working that midnight rush. Good job guys!

The best McDonald’s location I have been to. They salt their fries wonderfully first of all. And I called because I was having issues with delivery and whoever picked up the phone the manager or whoever was working there was being so incredibly nice and helpful to make sure I was receiving my order and she was onnnn itttt absolute queen. Best Mickey ds 🙏🏼 bless everybody that works there for real
I have no car, and was hungry during the night. I tried downloading the app to order online, play with gift card and pick up. But I had hard time signing up. It won't activate my account and bring me back to the app. Lady was understanding, great worker.
Stopped to get breakfast on the way to the zoo and Rowena was so kind at the drive through window. Another employee was posted outside to ensure we had everything we needed. It was a great start to our day and the best fast food experience I've had in years.

The food is pretty good for the most part it seem like it was made fresh rather than being under a heat lamp though the meat was a little bit hard! The service was not so great, I was just trying to get some strawberry jam and the lady walked away from me when I approached her and was more or less ignoring me It took a minute to even get her attention to get it!😞

A bit less homeless at this location but they do hang around here. The food is on point and served fresh and fast. Lots of parking but lots of transients on the lot asking for change or for left overs. Order ahead on the app and just pick up. I wouldn't dine in here for safety reasons.
The burgers I ordered had pickles on them. They do alright here. I didn't tell them No Pickles, my fault. So, I took the pickles off, seen the burger and the meat had salt on 'em when I didn't want salt. I used to work with McDonald's In Indiana. So, I know what I'm talking about.
I gotta say this was a great place for breakfast, I have only one complaint. . . There are no outlets for paying customers. . . That's all, other than that, it's all good.
It's McDonald's, what do you expect. Food was hot and kids enjoyed it. I would suggest that they ask if you would like to add something for a dollar. As a tourist, I read it when waiting in the drive through. I ordered 6 nuggets. Just as I was about to end, I asked what the dollar option is and then realise I could add 6 extra nuggets for a dollar. Staff seem grand.
The older Hispanic women and all the younger employees are generally pleasant. They clean regularly and the cooks don't throw your sandwich into a boxed mess like most other McD's.
The service is wonderful the workers don't sound miserable and they always greet you with a smile. The food is good and never disappoints.
24/7 But you can only order on app after hours. They could probably double there sales on graveyard if they changed that, allowing cash & walk up orders
Across from SD City College. If you need quick eats, Downtown SD and don't want to pay for parking, start here. Probably really busy at lunch time. This location might have multiple parking lots. The bigger lot caters to Drive thru and Curbside pickup. So, you have to park far from the restaurant entrance. IMHO The kiosks are annoying, too bad they work. If you don't get a receipt you may not know which order they call is yours. The food is McDonald's standard good. The chicken strip in the SnackWrap was juicy and tasty. The tea seems to have better flavor too.
They got my order wrong (it wasn't complicated), but they made it right after I showed them my receipt. Although they had a copy. My snacks were yummy though. Just check your order!
Hit up the drive through and was watched by the homeless population like a hawk. A bit uncomfortable to be followed through the drive through. Probably want to avoid this location if you have problems saying no. The steak egg and cheese biscuit is amazing though.
Staff was incredibly nice. The drive-through opens up late. Also, if you mention the ad by the soda machine, you can get a free ice cream cone. Unfortunately. They did not have any ice cream because the machine was not working.

This McDonald's should let their customers know that they only refill their coffee once before they pay for their coffee. This is the only McDonald's that hasn't refill my coffee more than once in San Diego county. They mark a letter R on the coffee cup when it gets refilled. Having said that, their food was great and their place was reasonably clean in their busiest time.
Normal McDonald’s visit. Not great but will definitely meet the needs of a late meal. This place had an unusual amount of homeless and transient people in the parking lot.
Very unhappy, I ordered a Shamrock shake thats supposed to be green then I got a vanilla milkshake with a bit of green. I never do fast food and milkshakes for myself and the one time i do it they get it wrong... i guess its a sign to stick to veggies and smoothies. The only reason why I'm giving a two stars instead of one is the big guy behind the register he was cool well done my guy keep it up. 👍🏼
Looks like the homeless run the show here. The restaurant was running the heater during the day time And today it was super warm inside to make it worse they had homeless sleeping inside to it was humid with the stench the made the whole place uncomfortable. And some how there was a homeless guy with two uber orders. Who know how he got those
This McDonald's is in a lovely location right in the heart of downtown San Diego. This place can be quite busy at times. Some of the staff that work here are rude and have bad customer service.
They forgot my sauce and straws on my order. The only reason I wanted to buy McDonald’s was for the creamy chili sauce :/
Incompetent. 10 people were waiting for their mobile orders for 20 minutes before the cashier gave any of us any attention. The orders were all ready, the cashiers just didn't bother to give us any attention. Order day Tuesday July 22, time 6:20 pm.
Got the order right but was missing the fork honey and butter
They make after school stand outside to make an order. After one or two kids got into a fight. They could just make those kids flagged. They don't know what some kids situation is, where they might have to stay downtown until a parent pick them up and McDonald's is the safest place for them.
I ordered a caramel frappe to go and when they handed it to me the whip cream was completely melted at the top which told me it's been sitting out for way too long. I asked them to make me another one. I waited 5 mins for them to either hand me the same one I sent back to them or they literally did the same thing of making the frappe and letting it sit out to melt because the 2nd one looked exactly like the first one I sent back. I gave up after that.. accepted the drink and put it right in the trash because at that point I had zero confidence if I were to try to send it back again they would of got it right the 3rd time.
My regular breakfast spot was closed this day. This location was the closest option. Nice clean location, just expect caracteres hangin out there. Now for the review. The cashier was wearing a hoodie? MCD’s should ofer a better option for their employees. I ordered the bacon egg bagel combo with 2 hash browns. They gave me the steak bagel instead. I asked for the right one, to my surprise they gave me the wrong item again. They gave me the sausage bagel this time. The third time I finally got the right one. It came out cold and by this time my hash browns were cold too. The lady handing out the food was kind with a smile, too bad my experience was pretty bad for $17. I’ll stick with my usual spot for breakfast. Please double check your orders before leaving.
I got home, put my food on the table and went to eat and realized someone took two bites out of my double quarter punder and then just put it back like nobody would ever notice! I also ordered a six piece mcnugget and there, of course, was only 4. I called the store to let a manager know what was going on and she just kept asking for a receipt number over and over. I informed her it was an order through the app, gave her my drive through code (the app had no receipt #) the time, and exactly what I ordered. She never even said sorry or tried to resolve it. She only said "I can't find your order here in my system". This is the most disgusting, disrespectful, and all around terrible thing that has ever happened to me at a fast food place. What a joke!
The worst McDonalds in Southern California. Poor attitudes You ask for something and they hide behind the wall because they don’t want to deal with complaints. They made sure to leave the receipt out so I couldn’t complain. They take forever to fulfill orders and I had to be at work. So I asked for my order because they called my name, and the your girl said it wasn’t there, only to find out 10 minutes later that one of the more senior people working there took it too the other window. The girl never tried finding where my order was and I had to be stern in asking where my food was. Definitely not fast food and the service isn’t worth my time.

Ordered thru doordash tonight... horrible... burgers were made very poorly... cheese was half way off the bun... meat was old and stale... large fry was MISSING from the bag... no straws or napkins... the night crew just don't seem to take pride in thier work... the pie was at least fresh and hot.... #thecustomerisALWAYSright

December 13th on a Friday I'm a Uber eats driver , I watched the place serve other drivers there order I waited for 24 min for a big Mac and 2 mc flurry's. I kept asking what was the problem and it seemed as if they held my order from being done. Just like your employees have a time frame to get out food my job requires for me to deliver it on time. Mind you I should the young lady serving orders to read that my client said to please hurry because she had to go to work. Still waited 15 min after that . Extremely disappointed especially when you are watching everyone after you came in get served there order.
Rowena the manager is running this place regardless of any policy or rules. We were denied a soda refill for absolutely no reason while an Asian group was taken care of instantly and given a refill. Rowena was very unprofessional and discriminating. This visit left a sour taste in our mouths. We are definitely not coming back.
Last week I was having coffee when a woman who was begging for food walked over to my table and slapped my coffee across the restaurant and I was not even offered a new cup. I wouldn't recommend this McDonald's to anyone who just wants to eat. It's pricey as well and I don't plan to return myself.

Service took really long more than any other McDonald’s I’ve ever been to. They also refused to give me all the items on the app and which certified and clarified my purchase. Thumbs down. Went two nights ago around 9 pm and purchased one of there new grandma mcflurrys got charged only to be told they didn't have it. When I asked for a refund the manager seemed annoyed and bothered by having to do so. Then she made a comment along the lines of sorry cash refund only, but I didn't get my refund. The kid at the register said it would go back to the card and he didn't even give me a receipt nor have I gotten the refund back. When I try to call this location it rings a few times and then the call drops as if they're hanging up. Every time I go here they are so unorganized.

They gave this card because a worker refused to bring out the drink with my order told me it was my problem and to go inside (mobile order) I was given this and tried to redeem it. Nobody will take it and now telling me I have to go to Chula Vista to redeem it. Joining the boycott because bad service no shared polices and too many disgruntled workers. I will go anywhere else now deleting the app as well.
Mobile app isn’t working and can’t walk through drive-through so if you don’t have a car, you don’t even get there makes no sense
Nothing to notify of closure time; first time, online 12AM close time on Google Maps, walked here, employee put trash can in front of door and watched multiple customers walk up then away after finding out it’s closed. Mobile orders not accepted either. Waste of my time, guess they don’t care.
I understand that McDonalds is very popular and have a gazillion locations in different parts of the city but it does not mean that it should be a bad food with an awful service as well! I got my cheeseburger cold with basically nothing inside! No souse, no pickles! I didn’t get any paper napkins even though I asked for it and the cashier was extremely rude to me and my family! Horrible! Put my order at 10 am through doordash called at 11:04 to find out whar was going on with my order and she said that the driver was not there to claim it within the 20 minutes. Since they stop serving breakfast at 10 :30 am . OK but why advertise it in doordash then at 1010 if they will not deliver . Trying to blame doordash . So they don't make the food until.the doordash driver comes and claimed it . Ok

Ordered and paid for 5 ranch and 2 chili sauces. Ordered nuggets that also came with 2 ranch. Didn't get one ranch. Dry nuggets, dry fries, dry burger. Almost the worst mcdonalds. Came for my school break and received the worst food ever even after I expressed in the beginning how I wanted everything fresh. The heavy set guy kinda just brushed my request off and I was served this instead. The first time I hit my fry and it was cold and stale tasted like cold grease, so I returned them politely and asked for fresh fries. Then I sit down to bite my sandwich and the results were no better nothing was fresh, none of the ingredients and the cheese you could tell was old. Very disappointed.
Dude just no. Ordered a big Mac Grinch box with no onions and no lettuce. Large Dr pepper. Well first of all, a pickle ended on top of the bun, and everything was Ice cold as if it was made yesterday. Supplied no straw at all. To make matters worse, if you call, no one answers. The only thing that was as shown on this meal were the socks. And you guys say your all about customer service? Common now. Just terrible. 100% would not recommend this location.

I went here last night for my to go order ...waited 1 hour for my food then I had to go to the counter and remind them that I was still waiting. I got cold stale fries and no condiments . Do yourself a favor and go to Jack in the Box or Del Taco around the corner
The wait for delivery drivers is too long...at night they make us wait 40mins to 1 hour+ once their lobby closes. You will see them prioritizing the drive-thru even though they don't understand that delivery drivers are also delivering food orders so they have to go out by a certain time or else they get cold or worse. We get orders canceled and we waste our time. It's just a mess at this McDonald's there's no organization and the managers don't help either. There's only one manager that's good and that's during the daytime but the night manager sucks. Don't expect to get your food quickly. If you're a delivery driver, they treat us like trash. And while I get it, some delivery drivers are really rude. There are some of us that actually do our job really well and our whole job is dependent on time.
This has got to be by far the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. The staff here are very rude, especially the manager. I stopped by this location because my father who eats there quite often, was there, and went to say "Hi". My father told me it was ok to bring my ebike inside, because he had personally seen people bring in their bikes, and never once has the manager said anything to anyone. He also said he's witnessed homeless people bring their dogs in the restaurant and they be laying on the tables! Gross! This restaurant allows homeless people to bathe and hang out all day. Anyway, the manager approached me, telling me to take my bike from in front of the door, which i did, since it was in the doorway. I moved to where it was not interfering with anyone, and she still had a problem. Now several customers are saying she NEVER said that to anyone. By now my order was being prepared. I told her I'm waiting on my order, and she tells her staff to never take my order again. She claimed it was a store rule. So why did they take my order in the first place? After she said that, I took out my phone and began recording. Two customers entered with bikes. A homeless lady with a stroller full of stuff parked it in the same doorway my bike was at, and no one said a word. Both customers that brought in bikes were not harassed either. Then another homeless guy entered with a dirty dog, I watched employees walk past and not say a word! Even though there is a sign saying pets not allowed. The manager, Anastasia, is HORRIBLE, and she obviously trained her staff, because they are just as horrible! If I could give ZERO stars, I would! Throw the whole restaurant away!
They got my order completely wrong, I got sick from the cheeseburger, and the place is swarming with the homeless hitting you up for food and money from every direction. I know the latter is not McDonald's fault but the food is as bad as it ever is, and I don't know how you screw up an order this bad.... but I desperately needed a drive thru to get some quick food in downtown San diego. Never again.
The location itself is pretty good, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The tables and seats are always covered in the last customers' crumbs, so I wouldn't call it clean. My main issue is with management and the employees, who are frankly incompetent. I ordered for three people (the same order for all three) and the wait time wasn't bad—it was actually fairly good. Just be warned there's no self-serve station for refills outside; you have to ask an employee, though it could be worse. The real problem was how they called my order. Someone from the kitchen was yelling out order numbers with what sounded like an angry tone. When I went to pick up my order, I couldn't figure out who was calling my number because there was no one at the front counter. Turns out the employee was hiding behind a corner with my order—I couldn't even see her. It was incredibly confusing. And for a dine-in order, they didn't bring the food to my table, which is also poor service. The food itself was fine. It's just hard to understand why you'd call out order numbers sounding angry while hiding where customers can't see you.
Went to the McDonald’s drive-thru around 12:30 am to order a caramel frappe and was told the machine was already cleaned, so I ordered an ice cream instead. The car behind me, my friends, was able to order a caramel frappe with no problem. When I mentioned this at the window, I was told I could get one but had to pay again, even though I’d already paid. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service.
I’m a normal 30yo guy. Writing reviews for fast food spots or any spots for that matter isn’t my deal. But…this is different. This is one of the most poorly run fast food locations I have ever been to in my life. It’s baffling just how incompetent the people who work here are. They have this system where one person floats up front asking for Uber Eats / Doordash numbers. They also have to cashier. What ends of happing every…single…time is a crowd forms at both the counter and cashier line. Everyone is pissed and at least one group is neglected. I’ve seen people wait in line for minutes on end with not a single word said to them. Mainly because the person floating is a young kid who doesn’t have the best social : professional skills. They just blankly look at people and ask for numbers. It ticks me off so much which is alarming because nothing bothers me. And this location is notorious for forgetting food items. On my last visit I ordered four items. One item was missing so I asked for it. 20 mins went by before I got it. I asked if I could have me entire order remade obviously. Management came out with bug eyes like I was the crazy one. My “new” food came out but it was the same cold food but this time another item was missing! I waited 10 minutes for this item. I asked if I could have my order remade. 10 minutes go by. When I tell you another item was missing along with all my sauces I wanted to go in the back and make my food myself. What is going on in the back. The manager at this place needs to seriously lock in and figure something out. I’m a Senior Full Stack Developer. I have to manage and maintain architecture for massive corporations. We’re talking milllions of dollars on the line. 24 developers under me. It’s like dude….this is a Mcdonalds. Make sure the people who were hired to make food read their tickets. Revamp your Uber Eats / Doordash / Cashier mess up front. There should be a person superglued to the front who is professional and likeable. It’s a barren wasteland upfront as is. The lack of anyone being upfront makes your blood boil. You can feel the anxiety from people waiting upfront. You go to Chick Fil A and the staff are so nice. They have people in their designated spots who are extremely competent. I never have to check my food there because they know how to manage and hire kids. I’m never going to this Mcdonald’s ever again. It is a blight on downtown San Diego. This is all the managers fault 1000% I would be so embarrassed to go to work to do the absolute worst job day in and day out. Having worked in the food industry, I’m very compassionate towards everyone who decides to do this type of work. But it’s places like these that make you want to bash on these people. It’s like oh yeah, whoever’s in the back dropping fries…I wouldn’t trust them with a damn thing. I’m convinced everyone who works at this location has the mind of a ladybug. Absolutely nothing going on in the frontal cortex.
Can’t believe that. It’s took me 23 mins to get my coffee. I placed a curbside order, but no one brought it out, so I had to go inside to get it myself. Even then, the staff inside didn't give it to me. Finally, they realized my coffee had been made a long time ago and was just sitting there, unnoticed by anyone. The management is truly terrible.
This McDonald’s is lacking intelligence. Incompetent. they always miss items in your order. At least 4 out of 5 orders are missing something from my personal experiences. Like today. Ordered 2 McGriddle meals, got two coffees two hashbrowns, one McGriddle. Lol really. No time to drive back either so I guess they just stole my money and i eat a potato for breakfast. Cool. order #1921 10/16/25 make it right.
I felt incredibly disrespected that both my wife and daughter were sexually harassed by an elderly female manager. A short Asian whom who would not reveal her name...I make no assumption as to her sexual identity though she made inappropriate comments to my female family members. ( Something as well referring to them in the bathroom) Which we did not use. Nothing is worse than an unhygienic perverse employee , reseraunt and even more perverse comment to wash down an undercooked overpriced meal. I genuinely felt bad for the other employees who seemed as embarrassed as we were.
Horrible experience with this location. I’ve been to this location maybe 4 times and every time they either forget a food item or the sauces. On one occasion they forgot my sauce for all of my meals in the order and while originally frustrated, I decided to just order a drink from door dash and re order the sauces with that order. The door dash arrives! And to my surprise (should have expected this) NO SAUCES! NOT A SINGLE ONE! I will never go to this location again. From forgetting sauces to fries and nugget packs, very disappointed. I tried calling the location to let them know, no answer. They did pick up at one point after calling them about 10 times,, just for them to hang it up right away! What a joke.
Got a toxic tasting burger - called management - did not believe me - wanted me to drive back and let them “smell” it after I reported nasty smell and horrifying taste - unfortunately not able to so it will likely continue because I did not prove it to manager lady. Be careful feeding your kids here! Managers thought I was nuts lol 😷 but I asked 2 other people to smell it - one of which hardly ever can smell anything and they both confirmed something was very off with that burger… 🍔 (one burger was fine [edit to add: well- didn’t let anyone eat the other burger after my first bite but the other one smelled normal anyway]~the other was a disaster in a bun) despite this - there are some old school employees working there for a very long time - some good folks on that crew - nerves of steel there -

Some employees appeared distracted from their duties and were feeding homeless individuals instead of focusing on customer service. While assisting those in need is commendable, such behavior during peak hours in a busy restaurant comes across as unprofessional and negatively impacts the experience for other guests. I urge you to address the organization of the staff at this location, provide appropriate training to ensure professionalism, and implement measures to maintain your service standards. As your customer, I trust that my concerns will not go unnoticed and that steps will be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. I would appreciate your feedback and information on the actions that will be implemented to rectify this situation.
