I love Papa Nachos and have never been disappointed! The menu is wonderful and seafood dishes are delicious! The drinks and tasty as well! I never ate at the old spot, the new one is Ulta modern and beautiful inside! I can't wait to eat on the patio this summer!! Awesome service staff and management is always coming around to make sure you're getting the best experience! This going to be our spot! Try the elite!🔥 Great Job
Finally, a spot close to home that nails both the food and the atmosphere! The fajitas were the best I've ever had, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, the space itself is stunning, high ceilings, great natural light, and beautiful artwork. A must visit.
Well, It's been while since I was last here, in fact so long they have moved to a large new location IH10 by Ralph Fair Rd. We got their house frozen Margarita, nice flavor and not tart like a lot of other places. Careful, they can sneak up on you. We had fajita nachos first, then i ordered the Mexican fish plate with Mahi mahi and with capers, butter n wine sauce, borracho beans. It was delish, we also had a Chili relleno (Cheese i think) that was great too. A nice restaurant without a lot of mexican flair decor or mariachis Add i love hearing good ones, it's just really good food. Service wss spot on and the prices are affordable as well. I highly recommend if yiur in the area or driving thru on IH 10. They have a nice dar as well. we will be going back real soon.
Everything about this place was amazing! The food was great, the drinks were great, the service was great, and the atmosphere is great! They were SUPER busy here, decent wait for a table but the bar area was available. They have surprisingly very good margaritas here. For food we got the beef fajitas and they were probably the best fajitas I've ever had in a restaurant. Would recommend and will be back!
The new location is awesome! Thankfully its really big because they are always busy! The bar top is large and really nice too. Staff is so friendly and professional. And the food is fantastic! I love, love, love the surf and turf fajitas (I remove thw chicken)! I eat chicken all week so the shrimp and beef is all i want. They are cooked to perfection! Chef's kiss! I like to get a side of the Chipotle sauce and add tellow cheese, sooo good!
Food was delicious! Drinks were really good! Service was excellent! There was a 30-45 minute wait for a table, but there were 2 seats at the bar so we jumped on them! Monica was a great bartender and server! We'll definitely return and the bar is a great option if there is a long wait for a table!
The owner Ali took the time to serve us, as well as the server Miguel. The new location is beautiful and clean. I love outdoors and the view on the patio is nice and calming, I look forward to seeing maybe some chairs out there to enjoy the wind. The food was fresh and delicious. I am definitely coming back to this place.
Love the new location it’s gorgeous! Can’t wait for them to open the patio! Food and drinks are amazing. Definitely try the beef fajitas! Fajita nachos are killer too! I need to venture out and try some seafood next time. I could drink the salsa it’s so good. Everything was wonderful!
The best beef fajitas in town? YES! 🌮 The Parrillada Beef Fajitas for Two is always our go-to. The beef is seasoned and cooked exactly right every single time. 🤤 The parrillada comes with your traditional sides: flavorful charro beans, classic Mexican rice, grilled veggies, and of course, fresh tortillas. They recently opened a brand new location near Fair Oaks Ranch/Leon Springs, and the upgrade is stunning
Our family has enjoyed Papa Nachos for years! The new location is very nice, spacious and inviting. The food and drinks were so good! The staff was short-handed but still friendly and accommodating. Our waiter, Jared, was top-notch; he was courteous, gave us just the right amount of attention and just did an overall great job! We were a party of 8!
The new location is absolutely stunning. Though it’s obvious that they aren’t quite done decorating, the architecture itself is just gorgeous. The panoramic floor to ceiling windows make you feel like you’re on vacation. In the best way possible, the restaurant doesn’t feel like it’s located in our little Leon Springs! Our first impression with the food was that the salsa had likely been made seconds before being brought to our table. It was incredibly fresh and bright, and easily the best chips and salsa I’ve ever had in this area and Boerne. The food just kept impressing us from there. It was all very, very good and clearly made by people who knew what they were doing. It was delicious. The service, however, could use a little work. No smiles from anyone in the restaurant. Not the host, not our server, and I didn’t see any of the staff smiling at or interacting much with patrons. I know they just opened and might be under a ton of pressure, but that type of service made the experience feel slightly less elevated and more churn—and-burn.
A couple times per month, either I meet my mom here for lunch or pick up a weekend family dinner. My favorite is the flautas, but I have never had anything bad here. Tried the new location today. The place is absolutely gorgeous and it was very busy/lively. I think they must have bought new equipment because the food was even better. The flautas were lighter and crispier. Just perfect. A+
Food fresh, prepared perfectly. Had the combination fajitas. Beef fajitas tender, sizzling hot and well seasoned. Chicken fajitas delicious as well. Amazing refried beans! Good margaritas, not too sweet as many are. Attentive service. The only thing I would recommend is having house made corn tortillas instead of store purchased. A great culinary experience overall.
Hands down, the best fajitas in town. Went there with family and had an amazing experience. Had beef fajita nachos which is a delicious appetizer. For main dish had beef fajitas and shrimp fajitas. By far the best fajitas in town. Their deserts are also amazing. Had tres leches and flan and both of them were super delicious. Definitely recommend this place and would go there more for sure.
We've been waiting excitedly for this location to open and we were not disappointed! We went on the pre-opening night and had an absolutely amazing time. Ordered some great margaritas, queso flameada, the chicken la Mexicana and Fajita Tacos. Everything was perfect. We will be going back often... Maybe too often 😂
Unironically, papa nachos and our server Manny, came to the rescue. Went out to have a nice lunch with my mom, first 4 places we tried were closed. But papa nachos was blessedly open and the food and service were phenomenal. Got salsa and chips within a moment of sitting down. Salsa was tasty and chips were perfectly thin and crisp. Got the queso flameado as an appetizer and the enchiladas guajillo as a main course. Appetizer came out fast and barely had a few bites by the time food was out. Manny was great. Got us refills on drinks and chips without asking. Stopped by often to see if everything was good. Did a really good job overall. Food was also delicious and guajillo sauce is to die for. Price was also very reasonable. Thank you so much to the team at papa nachos and Manny in particular for saving what turned into a somewhat early dinner instead of a late lunch as originally intended.
Brand new beautiful building, the prices are actually reasonable (I did not order drinks from the bar so not sure on pricing there). They accommodated our large group and actual service was good. They do not take reservations so be prepared to wait. The atmosphere no matter where you sit is very loud, hard to hear the servers and even hard to hear the person next to you. Sound just seems to echo. The food is amazing, especially for its price point. Some flavors were definitely not Tex mex but everything was delicious. (They do have some expensive dishes, but that was the steak and seafood which is to be expected. Overall I will definitely come back for the food and service!!
Restaurant isn't as big as it seems from the outside but is nice and simple on the inside. Beef fajitas were really good, shrimp enchiladas were just fried tortillas stuffed with cheese and topped with what seemed like frozen shrimp, the shrimp fajita was much better. Rice and beans were great and tortillas as well. A lot of options on the menu. Service was overwhelmed and got order wrong twice, it was corrected but I guess because it's a new establishment there's lots of room for improvement. Worth trying once
⭐️ I recently visited Papa Nachos at their new location, which is beautifully decorated and inviting. I was excited to try their shredded chicken taco salad, but unfortunately, my experience was not what I had hoped for. As I enjoyed my meal, I bit into a large bone from the chicken, which was quite unpleasant. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, his response was that since it’s shredded chicken, some bones can occasionally be present. While I appreciate that mistakes can happen, I believe it’s important for customers to be informed about this possibility, especially since there was no warning on the menu. In my experience with shredded chicken salads and tacos from various fast food places, I have never encountered bones before, so this was quite surprising. I wasn’t looking for a refund or a free meal; I merely wanted to suggest that they be more careful in the future. I hope they can address this issue, as the ambiance is lovely, and I would love to see them succeed. I still give you 4 star review because not basing everything on just this experience but need to do better --- Feel free to adjust any parts to better fit your tone or add any additional details! Been here three times now since moving back to area, usually with a group of 4-5. First two times the staff was very grumpy, almost bordering on rude, when we asked questions regarding dietary issues one of our party has...the most recent time they were friendlier. Overall the food is good and has nice portions. One of our plates came out warm at best, while the other plates were obviously fresh out of the oven and hot. As posted, they do charge extra for using the card.
New location has been open for a couple of weeks now, I believe, and no drink menu Hostess stand entered our phone number incorrectly so we ended up waiting longer than we should have. I ordered a margarita that was never delivered which somehow escaped our server’s attention on her 6 or so trips past our table. Likewise with getting water. Food was very good and was freshly made, despite the 30 minute wait from when our order was taken.
We have been going to Papa Nacho for YEARS. We loved the old location so much and were super eager to try out the new location for my birthday last night. While there was a wait (to be expected) wasn’t terribly long. As soon as we were seated, the waiter came over full of attitude and was extremely rude. That started a bad taste for the evening. While our drink orders were being taken, one of group members asked a question about a certain beer he wanted (no drink menu was given) when the waiter came back from asking about the specific beer, the attitude and hand gestures of hurry up I’m busy was absolutely uncalled for. After we finally got our drinks and appetizer, we were chatting with our group of friends (there were 6 of us) all of the sudden all of our appetizer plates were taken and the queso bowl taken, without asking a single one of us. There was still dip left in the bowl. Now the food - my husband loved their ribeye street taco plate, we didn’t see it on the menu and he asked the waiter, which again was given with attitude and he said the one we thought might have been it was. It definitely was not the correct dish. At this point no one in our group was impressed with the food. At no point were we rude, messy, unkind - anything. Then comes the bill - our friends were charges for the restaurant splitting their plate (was not told this would happen, they only asked for an empty plate so they could split it). My margarita was up priced more than double from the old location AND I was charged for the strawberry for my strawberry margarita. We were not told that gratuity was included because of our group size (I’ve always known it to be 8 or more) - then they now charge you more to pay with your card vs cash. This was extremely disappointing since we have loved this place for so long. We have no intention of going back and have advised friends and family of our experience. We have also been told we are not the only ones who have had this experience. For the cost we paid, we would have much rather gone to a place that we have been going to for years and know the service is wonderful. The undoubtedly messed up my birthday dinner.
Having dined in at this location several times since its opening has been a pleasure. Sure they’ve had to work out a few kinks, but all at all the quality for the value has been really well received. That reality changed on a Sunday night .Having dined in at this location several times since it’s opening has been a pleasure. Sure they’ve had to work out a few kinks, but all at all the quality for the value has been really well received. That reality changed on a Sunday night when they weren’t answering their phone, so we decided to place to go order and realize that reason they weren’t answering the phone as they were absolutely slammed. We placed it to go order and we’re told it would be 45 minutes so we ran some errands and came back. The order had not even been placed. I can tell you that coming from the restaurant industry. Should we waited another 30 minutes for the food to come out, and of course, part of the order was incorrect and we were overcharged for sides that we did not get. It’s always best not bite off more than you can chew and unfortunately, we’re going to have to put this location on pause until it regain our confidence.
My wife and I talked about going here for a while. We live in Boerne, and the place is always packed when we drive by, so we decided to give it a shot. First of all, there is a big sign out front that states "best fajitas in San Antonio". Ummmmm, not even close. We first ordered chips and chili con queso. We were brought a bowl of melted cheese that looked like something you would get at the ballpark. We then ordered the guacamole, which was paste that had no flavor whatsoever. The tube guacamole at HEB is better and at least has flavor. Lets get back to the "best fajitas in SA". These were the absolute worse fajitas I have ever eaten. The beef was tough, and had a weird taste, no seasoning. The chicken was ok, but very dry and the shrimp was way over cooked. Tortillas were something you would buy in the store, but again, HEB has better. The only thing I can say positive about this place was the place itself. The decor was really nice. If you like good Tex Mex food, this is not the place. Don't fall for the "best fajitas in SA" trick. Reminds me of the movie "ELF" when he see's the sign for best coffee in the world................... DISAPPOINTING
Nice new place. Wish the food and service matched the ambiance. Waited almost 10 minutes before a waiter came to our table on a very slow Wednesday afternoon. Someone needs to get the bar a blender. Don’t get any frozen drinks until they do. The chunks of mango were not blended into the mango Margarita, so getting through a straw was impossible. The chips and hot sauce were good. The rest: enchilada, beef taco, poblano enchiladas all just mediocre.
My family has loved going to Papa Nachos for years, so my mom naturally picked it for her 70th birthday lunch. My sister attempted to make a reservation because it was going to be 17 people. We were told they do not accept reservations on the weekends. That we needed to get their early and they would be able to seat us. One of my sisters and I arrived at 11. The manager told us there was only one place to seat a party that big and we would have to be out by 12:45 because they had a reservation for the room at 1. I shared we had told the ladies to at come at 11:30 and I was worried that everyone would be rushed to each in an hour and 15 minutes. The manager told me, he was already doing me a favor seating me with an incomplete party. That we couldn’t stay all day. I explained I work in the service industry also, and understood we couldn’t stay all day. However, I felt like wanting two hours to feed 17 people wasn’t an unreasonable request. He doubled down. He stated he was already doing me a favor by seating me with an incomplete party. We stayed only because the invitations had already been sent out. It was so embarrassing to tell each woman as soon as they walked in that they needed to look at the menu and order immediately because we only had an hour and 15min to eat. They will not get my business in the future.
