This bar is what most bars wish they could be. Be it their impossibly large selection, the wonderful cocktails offered, the professionalism of their staff, or the decadent and smooth live music they have on weekends, this establishment is amazing. They have offerings for any budget, whether you're counting pennies or an executive needing to impress, they've got you covered. David helped me out on my last visit. Kind, masterful, down to Earth. Why can't all bartenders be like that? I love this place, and I always recommend it to those in the area. You won't regret imbibing here.

This is definitely my happy place! Their drinks are amazing, delicious, and complex! We have our favorites (Righteous, Dulce Fuego, Crimson Pearl), but we love to try their new, seasonal drinks. David, Jorge, and John (really all the staff), have always been attentive and absolutely incredible when it comes to customer service! Definitely a must try when in San Antonio.

What a fantastic surprise! Rock & Rye boasts an impressive and thoughtfully curated whiskey selection, especially for fans of Islay single malts—you don’t often see that level of variety outside of specialty bars. The ambiance is stylish yet relaxed, making it a great spot to unwind. While the food menu leans more toward snacks and small plates, everything we tried was solid and paired nicely with the drinks. A must-visit for whiskey lovers in San Antonio!

No complaints here. Their selection is unmatched in San Antonio. The bartenders were excellent - both in personality and mixology. Their cocktail menu is fantastic. Really, I can't wait to go back. 5 stars.

My favorite bar in all of San Antonio. Consistent bartenders are the best in town. These guys have been there for years. Reminds me of Europe.

A great spot for excellent service and drinks. The drink menu is top notch! The bartenders are mixologists and I love to watch them create masterpieces. It’s truly an experience. Spencer was our bartender and provided me recommendations that hit the spot. The tacos after midnight are very flavorful. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

Great bartenders, especially BB, Dominic and Alex. Everyone is talented and friendly. Love the ambiance, especially on a Saturday night with live music!

It's a great place for great cocktails. David, our bartender, after we told him what we wanted, had suggestions that we took him up on, and they were spot on. We will definitely be back when we are in San Antonio. I highly recommend this place. Thank you, David, for a wonderful experience.

One of my fav bars ever! Lovely atmosphere and staff. Last Saturday they had live music as well which was lovely. Drinks are amazing. My favorite is the bluegrass fizz.

Rock and Rye is an amazing place for drinks! The mixologists make it a special event every time we visit! Kudos to Spencer, Dalton, and Jorge!

Best whiskey bar in town, plenty of whiskey and tequila options along with great craft beer choices. Their happy hour is fantastic! They stay open late which is a rarity on this side of town from 4pm-2am every night. They also have live music on Friday and Saturdays. What sets them apart is that their employees are fantastic, they are knowledgeable, friendly and talented in their craft. Everyone treats you like family here. Also they allow dogs!

It’s an experience! We went on Valentine’s Day and although it was busy, the staff was attentive and super nice! Only thing is you have to call ahead to see if you can reserve a table or something cuz there aren’t much seating options!

David at Rock & Rye is amazing! He always gives great service and makes awesome drink recommendations. The drink he made for me this time was perfect, exactly what I didn’t know I needed! He’s super friendly, easy to talk to, and always makes the experience even better. Highly recommend asking for David when you stop by!

Had an amazing experience at Rock & Rye thanks to BB! The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. BB made excellent drink recommendations, kept our glasses full, and made the whole visit fun and welcoming. I’ve been coming here for the past few years and it’s definitely a place I’ll continue coming to!

Never had the food. The owner ship and staff is absolutely fantastic. Only of my most frequented whiskey bars in San Antonio and not one disappointment. Leaving Texas and I only hope to one day find another that matches or reflects this standard in my next home.

Monica was the server for our large party and it still felt like I was the only person who she was helping. I was thoroughly impressed with her level of service and attention. The pretzel was good and I loved the yellow mustard. My Old Fashioneds were also well done. If you haven't been, I would highly recommend giving them a try!

C

Fantastic list of spirits and a wonderful list of beers. Both draft and bottle options are great. The cocktails I've had are top class and a great experience. As a first and foremost beer lover it's great to see some great taps like a Belgian (Chimay at the time of writing) and even True Anomaly out from Houston. A good mix of Texas and across the world options. While trying new spirits don't forget to look at some new beers.

David is hands down the best bartender and makes us feel so welcomed everytime. It you don’t know what you want, he will hand craft something special for you. This is the best Bar in San Antonio and the ONLY one we come to now. Going on 4 years now and don’t plan on going anywhere else. Best drinks and service ever.

THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD! It started with craving chocolate cake, which I ordered for delivery. Let's just say it made my eyes roll back. Today, Gulf shrimp scampi was incredible. If you know the difference from gulf shrimp and non. They also, sent some Truffle garlic knots, no charge. I don't usually leave reviews. It was so delicious I had to share ❤️❤️❤️

Great pizza and an awesome experience overall. The food came out hot, fresh, and tasted amazing. Our waitress Bella was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. She really made the visit even better definitely coming back!

We were serviced by Avery. She was very friendly and mindful of my family’s food choices. She offered unsolicited insights when she realized we had ordered two big portion plates and recommended that one would be enough for two people to share … and she was spot on. She was very committed when we asked her to take a family picture by making sure the table looked near and organized and she took the time to take several quality pictures of us as a family.

Very clean and mello pizzeria. A bit disappointed they had run out of Moscato, but our waitress had recommended another drink. Food was delicious! I just wish our waitress was a bit more attentive. Definitely will go back.

We’ve been to Russo’s a few times now and it’s honestly one of our favorite places. The food is always really good — especially the pizza — everything tastes fresh and well made. The service is great. The staff is friendly, attentive without being annoying, and you never feel rushed. Everyone is welcoming and seems to actually care that you’re having a good experience, which makes a big difference. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, perfect for date night, family dinner, or hanging out with friends. We always leave happy and already planning our next visit :) Highly recommend.

The food is great you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu if you like true Italian food and it comes out super fast! They are a bit short staffed so it may take a while to get additional assistance after your meal but Camila was a kind waitress and attentive to all our needs. The atmosphere is also great; there’s tvs, good music, just not a whole lot of customers which can be great for some people.

I recently visited Russo's Pizza and was blown away by the quality and taste of their pizza! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, creating a warm atmosphere. I ordered the classic Margherita pizza, and it was simply perfect. The crust was thin and crispy, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the mozzarella was fresh and creamy. Each bite was a delight! What stood out the most was the attention to detail in every aspect of the pizza. The ingredients were clearly of high quality, and the pizza was cooked to perfection. I also appreciated the variety of options on the menu, catering to different tastes and preferences. Whether you're a fan of classic pizzas or looking to try something new, Russo's Pizza has something for everyone. Overall, my experience at Russo's Pizza was exceptional. The combination of delicious pizza, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a must-visit for any pizza lover. I highly recommend Russo's Pizza and can't wait to go back again!

First time back at Russo’s in a long time and it was way better than I remember! Food was delicious (especially the calamari), service was great, and even though I only had 1 wine, it was a good one. I believe my server said they’re under new management and he (new manager) stopped by to make sure everything was just right. I’ll be back a lot sooner after that experience.

Our visit to Russo’s New York Pizzeria was wonderful. The pasta was flavorful and perfectly prepared, and the chicken wings were absolutely delicious. The pizza crust could have been cooked a bit more for that extra crispness, but overall, the food was excellent. Our waiter provided outstanding service — welcoming, informative, and very attentive throughout our meal. We truly appreciated the great hospitality and enjoyable dining experience.

Will come forever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We recently had a family reunion at Russo's Coal Fired Italian Kitchen, and it was absolutely perfect! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our large group, making us feel right at home. We ordered a little bit of everything from their menu—pizza, pasta, salads, and desserts—and every single dish was incredible. The flavors, freshness, and presentation truly impressed everyone in our family. A special shoutout to the team for their exceptional service and attention to detail; they made our gathering stress-free and enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with great food and a welcoming atmosphere for your next event, Russo's is the spot! Highly recommend!

Really cool place! Very much enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Drinks were brilliant, very flavorful and exactly what you’d expect. They have everything from the classics to new twist that bring some fun into it. Our actual waitress and bartenders was great! The service on the bouncer was poor. Not sure why this is becoming more popular. A bouncers responsible is to check ID’s. They are also the frontline of the restaurant they are representing. When they are abrupt and not welcoming, it taints the rest of the experience.

Food and pizza was good - minus the sticker still on the bell pepper in the calzone. But i would eat here again

Mostly any pizza you have is good pizza. It's hard to find something great in such a field. But this is one of the best, if not best pizza and knots I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and grab the truffle Garlic knots. With that said, the service was a bit off for how slow it was, might have been new serve, and the atmosphere was not to bad, definitely enough screens if you want to watch some sports game. But still highly recommend.

So this place is in the la Cantera rim area that is kinda fancy so add 30% over any other pizza place you go to. Atmosphere is nice but i could see the tv's turning some people off as it was a bit loud in there even though the place was empty. Service. Host was very welcoming and nice and got our drinks for us. Wait staff was also nice but I would say they disappeared from time to time. I do enjoy being left alone to eat my food but as I said the place was empty and it took awhile just for someone to take our order. Food. Pizza : created my own 16" half pepperoni....i so wanted to like this even though the price was a bit high. But they def messed it up...the top was cooked the bottom was not...how they pulled this off with a roaring fire going I'll never know. But coming from someone who cooks pizza...the baking surface was def not hot enough. The pizza was def on the rawish side on the bottom...needed a good couple more minutes which of course would have burnt the top. It was editable but could have been a 9 pizza and ended up a 6, one plus though it wasn't paper thin its was a nice ny style thickness. My wife got some calamari, which she did like. And the family shared a piece of chocolate cake which was also good. So after 1 pizza, the squid, cake and 3 drinks plus tip we left there paying 83 bucks. So be prepared to spend. Would I go back, I'd consider trying once more but if the pizza got the same treatment the second time that would my last visit.

I was pretty excited about having lunch here. I had dinner here once here about a year ago and it was really good. The free bread and oil, well I remember them being much better. I don't quite recall them being more like the edge of the pizza which was really good. The pizza salad combo lunch meal included a good size slices of pizza and a salad. A Cesar salad. The salad and pizza were just ok. The flavors were just not there. For brickoven pizza, we expected a slight crispness to the pizza. We also ordered 5 Buffalo flavored wings. Those are enormous! Great size and tasted good. It wasn't very busy. The waitress was not as attentive as we felt she should have been. She was very nice and polite though.

This was unfortunately one of the most disappointing service experiences I’ve had at a “luxury” bar in Texas. As someone who works in the bar industry, I was excited to try this place and intentionally ordered based on my knowledge of Japanese whiskey and gin. I ordered a Japanese Old Fashioned and a $7 gin cocktail with egg white and lemon. The first drink was almost entirely foam with very little actual cocktail. For the second, I was given well gin because they had run out of the $7 option I selected. When I closed out, I was shocked to see I had been charged $20 per drink. I spoke with another bartender to clarify, and instead of a conversation, I was cut off mid-sentence and told it was the “base price” and that it was my fault for not asking. I had asked multiple questions throughout the ordering process, including about pricing, and at no point was a $20 base cocktail price explained. Had that been communicated clearly, I would have made a different decision. I fully understand a cocktail upcharge of a few dollars — but $20 for a well gin drink without transparency feels excessive and misleading. What made the experience worse was the overall tone. The bartenders and barback were openly laughing at and speaking poorly about another guest (who was standing right there), which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. The atmosphere did not match the “luxury” branding. I chose this establishment because it’s close to home and was hoping it would become a regular spot. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Transparency and professionalism go a long way, especially in this industry. *** I did read your response. My concern was that I did not order a Clover Club from the cocktail menu. I selected a gin from your spirits list and named the ingredients while asking about pricing since it was my first time visiting. At no point was a $20 base cocktail price explained to me, which is why the total was surprising. Transparency was the main point of my review. The Applebee’s comment in your response also felt unnecessarily dismissive toward a guest simply asking about pricing.

First impression, the restaurant looked nice. We walked in and were not greeted but instead the hostess asked what she could help us with. After we asked for a table it took a while for the waitress to take our order. The food was mediocre and did not merit the price. The cheese sticks tasted like frozen food. We ordered a fettuccini Alfredo without chicken and we got chicken. When we told the girl, her response was that it wasn’t going to be charged insinuating we should not be upset from the “free chicken.” We don’t eat chicken. They did not have eggplant which was our first choice. We ordered a kids cheeseburger, specifically asked for cheese, meat, and toasted bun. Received a plain burger, no cheese, mustard, and a hard bun. Sent it back, received a cold burger.Refused it so my kid eat. Overall, the food was basic and overpriced. The service was slow even though there were only 3 tables. Don’t waste your time.

The salad was fresh and chilled. However, ordered a large pizza and the pizza crust was raw dough. We were appalled. Sent it back and came back to table still raw. I rarely leave bad reviews but felt I had to on this. I don’t mind the expense if food is good but this was inedible. Only one hostess/server present, service was poor, never came back to ask if we needed anything. When we asked for a box so we could take uncooked pizza home to bake ourselves, we were given a box that was heavily stained with grease from a pizza having previously in it, so had to get another box. Something seriously wrong at this restaurant; First time, last time at this restaurant.

2 Days ago we experienced terrible service while going for dinner, so much so that we decided to leave before even ordering. My wife left a review to express the concerns we had, and the owner claimed that my wife was a former employee and dismissed the feedback all together. She is not a former employee, and neither am I. I hope the owner can take ownership of these problems quickly. We are not looking for discounts or handouts; we just wanted to point out what happened to our family while we were out to eat. Hopefully my review can be seen and addressed correctly. I've included the reviews for reference. Wife's Review: Celina Castaneda 2 reviews 2 days ago New We experienced extremely poor service. The restaurant was about half empty, yet after 30 minutes we still hadn’t been helped and had to ask someone ourselves. During that time, we watched servers playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would clean a table that had just left. We eventually decided to leave, and as we were walking out one of the servers said, “Great, one less table!” While another server offered an apology, it felt insincere given the overall attitude. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing and eye-opening in terms of the lack of care for customers. Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5 Owners response: Russo's New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen | San Antonio (Owner) Edited 23 hours ago We are surprised to read such a detailed and negative description of our service. After reviewing our records and speaking with our team, we have identified that this review was posted by a former employee rather than an actual customer. It is disappointing to see a former team member attempt to damage our reputation with these claims. We take great pride in our service and the professional conduct of our staff—values that are consistently reflected in our authentic customer reviews. We remain committed to providing an excellent experience to all our genuine customers and will continue to uphold the high standards they expect from us.

We came here tired, hungry, and fresh out of an escape room, which is the only explanation for why we ignored the biggest red flag of all: the place was basically empty while every other restaurant nearby was packed. Someone even said, “Maybe that’s a sign.” It was. We asked for a drink menu. There isn’t one. There are maybe three beers total, one of which is Michelob. Bold strategy for a pizzeria. Our server didn’t write anything down and asked us to repeat our orders multiple times. This felt less like service and more like foreshadowing. Sure enough, things began disappearing. We ordered garlic knots. We reminded them. We reminded them again. The garlic knots never arrived. At this point, we assume they exist only as a rumor. One pizza arrived missing prosciutto. No warning, no substitution offered, just a pizza silently stripped of a key ingredient because they had run out. Useful information before the pizza was made, but okay. This is a coal-fired pizza place, which traditionally means crisp, char, and structure. What we got was pale, soft, and undercooked. Coal-fired pizza should not resemble a warm blanket. The chicken piccata deserves its own paragraph. A dish that is typically bright and lemony arrived… salmon-colored. We debated the hue longer than the flavor, which was not a good sign. The pistachio pesto pasta was also a mystery. No pistachio to be tasted whatsoever. Just vibes. Midway through dinner, we ran out of water and entered a parched state. No one checked on us. Four guys stood around talking near the pizza oven while one waitress ran the entire restaurant. Eventually, the manager came by explaining how busy they were, which was confusing given the visible emptiness. They didn’t charge us for the missing prosciutto, which was kind, but overall this was a baffling and memorable experience for all the wrong reasons. Hunger may bring us to questionable places again, but it will not bring us back here.

This was by far the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to, when we entered I asked the host what style pizza they served and she didn’t know. I asked about the quality of the pasta and if it’s worth it she also didn’t know. When we sat down our waitress was rude and also didn’t know the menu, I asked about a drink menu since we didn’t get one and she flopped it on the table. I got the chicken Marsala and it was by far the worst pasta I’ve ever eaten. It was watery and lacked any flavor other than bad. The water was extremely hard and unpleasant. The only redeeming thing was the wings were decent. Way too over priced for way below mid food, I don’t leave bad reviews often but this one felt necessary after spending almost $100 on two entrees and two drinks.

We came here for the first time on December 25th for dinner and this place made it a Very Disappointing Christmas! We will never come here again. We had reservations for 6:30. The place was not busy, but there was a line of people out the door, but not a long line. Turns out they were understaffed and would not seat anyone. They refused seating to any walk up customers and would only allow people who had reservations. The Hostess was saying if you order a pizza that it would take at least an hour to get it. That caused some people in line to leave. There were plenty of open tables, but 30 minutes later, we were finally seated. Our waitress, Faye, was doing multiple tasks. She was the Hostess at the front door, she occasionally removed dirty cups from previous guests tables, she loaded up toilet paper in the restrooms and on a very rare occasion came to our table. 20 minutes after we were seated, she finally came to our table. We ordered two of the Garlic Bread Knots and drinks. About 20 minutes later, she gave us one order of the Garlic Bread Knots, most, not all of our drinks and walked away. We still were not given any plates, napkins or menus. Several minutes later, we flagged down a waiter, Camarino, and asked for help. He found Faye and asked her to give us menus. She eventually did give them.to us. Other tables were given drinks and menus fairly quickly. We had to keep raising our hand to get someone's attention for service. Camarino came by quite often to help or relay our needs to Faye. We asked for some napkins and all Faye gave us were those small square ones that you place your drinks on. We asked her for the last drink that we still did not receive and for the second Garlic Knots. She eventually came with the drink and said they are still working on the Garlic Knots. She never gave us refills, so I had to walk up to the employee drink dispenser, and waited or someone to realize I was there. I did ask again to speak to the manager to address our many concerns, but when the employee asked him, the manager looked at us and walked away and never came to our table. That was completely disrespectful and shows he simply didn't care. We eventually got to flag down Faye so we could order our food. We wanted pizzas, but did not want to wait an hour, so we all ordered pasta. The food took a little longer to get and was barely warm. They overcooked and burned the chicken parmasean, the sausage link pieces were burnt to a crisp and everything was mostly flavorless. The Garlic Knots were decent, but barely had any Garlic. Every other table was given cloth napkins wrapped around the silverware. We were never given that. Faye only gave us a few of the small square paper napkins and dropped some forks and knives on the table. The only good experience here was with Camarino. He supported all of the other servers and helped us a lot.
