Delicious food. Super polite staff. Mellow mood with very clean facility.
I’m really glad I stopped by Louisiana Style Crab Time in San Diego. From the moment I walked in, the place felt welcoming and comfortable. Jimmy’s customer service was excellent friendly, patient, and genuinely attentive. He made sure everything was right without making it feel forced or scripted. That kind of service goes a long way and honestly makes you want to come back. The restaurant was clean and well taken care of, which I really appreciated. You can tell they pay attention to the details. The atmosphere felt relaxed and inviting, not rushed. As for the food, there are so many seasoning options, which is a big plus. Whether you like bold flavors or something more classic, there’s a lot to choose from. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and portions, which made the experience even better. Overall, this spot has good food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. If you’re in San Diego and craving seafood with flavor and care behind it, this place is definitely worth checking out.
Crab Town – A Flavor-Packed Seafood Boil Experience in Convoy Nestled in a bustling plaza in Kearny Mesa’s Convoy area, Crab Town is a go-to spot for Louisiana-style seafood boils, drawing a big crowd—especially on weekend nights. The atmosphere is lively and casual, perfect for digging into a messy, satisfying seafood feast. The décor follows an oceanic theme, with shark and crab wall art, and nautical touches that make you feel like you're on a sailboat adventure. Large screens for sports games add to the fun, though be aware that Padres games may be blocked. The menu centers around customizable seafood combos, with choices like crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, mussels, and more. You can select your preferred sauce base and spice level from mild to fire (extra spicy), and during special seasons, fresh instead of frozen crawfish are available. I opted for a mix of crawfish and shrimp, both of which were tender and flavorful. The “Crab Town” sauce base is highly recommended — a delicious, bold blend of garlic butter, lemon pepper, and Cajun spices. The moderate one is the right spicy level for me. Peeling seafood can take some effort, but the restaurant provides a handy guide to make it easier. Dipping the peeled seafood back into the broth takes the flavor to the next level. Next time, I’d go with headless shrimp to enjoy more of the sauce without the hassle. There are also great appetizers, like raw oysters, fries, butter bread, and chicken wings. I visited during weekday happy hour and scored half-price oysters (fresh and clean) and chicken wings for $0.75 each (minimum six). I asked for plain wings to skip the sauce, and the staff was happy to accommodate. Service here is warm and attentive. The team was happy to change the TV channel to my preferred game, kept me stocked with paper towels and gloves, and made the overall experience comfortable. Crab Town offers bold flavors, great service, and a fun vibe—perfect for seafood lovers looking for a hearty and hands-on dining experience.
The atmosphere inside is inviting and spacious you and your group definitely have enough room to enjoy what they have to offer. I got the mini combo i remember being $40 and a bowl of clam chowder. Throughout my meal the servers checked in on me periodically which I appreciated. They had great attitudes and were open to answering any questions I had. Getting to the food I thought the “moderate” spice level was perfect for me, one level higher than mild. The seasoning was delicious and I could’ve had it by itself in a soup if I really wanted to. The mix of seafood was varied and didn’t leave me wishing I had any more of one than the other. Everything from the clams to shrimp to corn to sausage slices were marinated well. The clam chowder was also delicious, nothing to complain about.
Holy moly that was AMAZING! It’s so messy but you get a bib and plastic on the table. Don’t wear nice clothes cause you get a little savage tearing in to all the goodies. We had the crab town combo and it slapped 🤤 I’m so stuffed it hurts right now, totally worth the money for anyone who loves seafood
This place is amazing! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great too. We came here tonight with a group of 4 and ended up ordering the large bag of seafood boil. We also got the frog legs and an extra pound of shrimp. Food was fabulous and it came out fast. Can't wait to come back here again.
The 'crab town' seasoning is delicious but it's so expensive here. You pay market price which I personally don't like in seafood restaurants. Especially since the last time I came in half my cluster was empty shell 😭
I absolutely loved the food. I’m a big Crab eater and love the boil in a bag where you pick your own seasoning. My wife and I have completely different taste buds so this gives me the opportunity to have really spicy and her have garlic and butter. The food is great the staff is friendly and the atmosphere as small as it is has really good vibes and cool decorations. I will be going back soon
It’s been over a decade since I’ve been here and everything still tastes the same but my appetite shrank. We shared a mini combo for $42 which consist of a half pound of clams, mussels, shrimp, craw fish, sausages, with corn and potatoes in Crab Town sauce medium spice. The portion was perfect for two of us to share. We also got regular fries, garlic noodles, home made crab cakes and a dozen oysters. The oysters were from WA and it looked sorry when it came out. All different sizes and thickness. A few were just paper thin and felt like they shouldn’t even serve it. Was not worth it for $34. They have daily specials and happy hour Monday- Friday 3-6pm. Parking in this lot is free and plentiful. They give you bibs and gloves.
The mega combo is mega-sized and mega delicious. Got the least spicey sauce and it still had a kick wasn't a problem for me but may be too much for some. The place is pretty nice with a nice vibe to it. They were playing some nice tunes while we were there. It's pretty messy but that's normal for this type of place. There's plenty of napkins and a clean-up station for when you're finished.
They recently raised the prices on several items in the menu. Happy hour is now Monday through Friday; used to be all week. The crab town sauce that was full of flavors is now watered down, it doesn’t taste the same and they charge you if you ask for more seasoning/flavor. They definitely lowered their quality. It was my favorite place in the area :(
My spouse and I tried this place yesterday for the first time. Tasty, yes. I awoke in the early morning hours to a stomach ache and vomited for the next 10 minutes. My other half also woke up in the middle of the night to a painful abdomen. Not worth the violent retching and sleepless night. We’re gonna take our seafood cravings elsewhere.
We arrived at 8:30pm and the host informed they were closed for the evening. Why advertise you close at 9pm online and your website, when that is not accurate. The restaurant closed 30 minutes early. Please update your hours of operation to reflect you close at 8:30pn and not 9pm.
【Food safety concern】 Please read before you dine here!!! What happened during my visit to Crab Town left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, and honestly, DISGUSTED. I'm not someone who typically leaves negative reviews, especially when the food is actually decent. The ambiance was casual and fun--great for seafood lovers and families. We’ve been eating here on a monthly basis, but would NEVER come back again. But during a recent afternoon visit with my 4-year-old son, I ordered a half portion of snow crab ($19), some boiled veggies, and a kid's meal. The crab came out in a plastic bag with two clusters. Since they were hot, I placed them on my plate to cool while we started eating. Then something truly shocking happened: A staff member came back and told me they had accidentally served me a full portion instead of a half, and asked if I'd like to pay more. I politely said no, since I had only ordered a half. She then put on gloves, reached into my plate, and took one of the crab clusters away--clearly intending to serve it to someone else. This was incredibly disturbing. If staff are allowed to take food from a customer's plate and return it to the kitchen, what does that say about their hygiene practices behind the scenes? No matter how decent the food might be, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Customers deserve to know their food hasn't been previously handled or served to others.
