This place… I cannot say enough about it. I was here on a solo trip for the weekend and found this gem on my own through Google maps. The service was fantastic. You can tell they really care about this restaurant. The owners were over accommodating and the food was phenomenal. I cannot wait to revisit on my next trip here.
Wonderful! I was at the end of a long trip and couldn't have found a better grande finale! I was eating solo and could tell there were a lot of regulars in the house. I was warmly welcomed and made to feel like a part of the family. The service was fantastic and the food was spectacular! The bruschetta was so flavorful... the best I've had. I didn't think it could taste any better, until I dipped it in the broth from the cioppino! The seafood in the cioppino was plentiful and extremely fresh. Delicious! If you're looking for authentic Italian food in a warm and inviting atmosphere, this is the place!
Chefs Kiss! Questo ristorante è fantastico! My husband and I were on the hunt for a top-tier Italian restaurant, and we're so glad we stumbled upon Jack and Giulio's Italian Restaurant--what an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was authentic, delicious, and packed with rich, vibrant flavors. Every bite felt like a trip to Italy! You can tell the ingredients are high-quality and that the dishes are crafted with real care and passion. If you're looking for a place that will more than satisfy your palate and set the right ambiance, I highly recommend Jack and Giulio's. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Don't miss out on this incredible dining experience! Salute
Jack & Giulio’s Italian restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Old Town San Diego. My food was delicious and though I was dining by myself, the welcome I felt by everyone I met was warm and gracious. The angel hair pasta with a meatball was delicious, complemented perfectly by a generous side of garlic bread and a relaxing glass of wine. It was one of the best meals I’ve had out in quite some time. The atmosphere was peaceful, the service was excellent, and it was a real pleasure to meet the owner, Jack. Highly recommended!
The mushroom sauce pasta option was amazing. I added chicken to mine. The drinks (lemon drop martini for me) was fantastic. The outdoor patio area was very quaint and peaceful. The waiter we had could not have been better. Just an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a smaller portion size but savor every bite.
Amazing service and food! Got the palm heart salad and tortellini with white mushroom sauce. truly was divine! Thank you Jack and Giulio! (my photos don’t capture the beauty of these dishes)
LOVE IT! This is my second time in San diego. Never been to an actual Italian restaurant either. but this place is amazing. we got the Lasagna, Nest, and Chicken Alfredo. Tasted delicious! live music was fantastic and the view/scenery is excellent. i would say it was a little hot inside and dark but we moved outside because it was more enjoyable.
We visited Old Town for a conference and brought kids. We lived in Italy for four months. This restaurant was home. We ate here twice in four days. The food was flavorful and well done. Our kids loved the buttered noodles. We ate the signature dishes and specials. Jose sang!!! What a magical and yet traditional place!
Absolutely delicious food at this restaurant. I had Franciscan Chardonnay wine that was spectacular! Here is what we had: Negroni drink, red wine; Chicken marsala; Veal parmigiana; Butterfly shrimp with mushroom sauce; Tortellini verdi: spinach pasta filled with ricotta parmesan Italian porcini mushroom sauce; Stuffed veal; Nidi Di Rondine rolled pasta filled with ham, cheese bèchamel talked with meat sauce; Valdostana Di Vitello: veal cutlet, folded, filled with ham, fontina cheese, mushrooms, finished in white wine sauce
Best authentic Italian Restaurant in Old Town. We found this gem accidently because the other Italian Restaurant across the street would not service us with a simple Spaghetti Bolognese. We walked one block and found the Northern Italy inspired food. The seafood pasta is a premium highly recommended dish. Yum. Stephanie - great customer service. Our glasses were always full. She checked on us throughout the meal. Live music is awesome - Trio of musicians playing smooth jazz. Bar is amazing. Lot's of drinks, something for everyone. The Limoncello Martini is delicious - smooth sweet lemon taste with the Martini flare. We enjoyed Spaghetti Bolognese, fresh parmesan grated cheese, beautiful yummy mixed green salad, and bruschetta with tomatoes. Overall. Delicious.
One of our favorites in San Diego! Food and service are always great! We come for the Panzerotti, a dish we have not find elsewhere. Ricotta cheesecake is excellent too! They could decorate the place a bit more to create some ambiance, but it wouldn't change much....
Absolutely superb dining experience. We came after a day at the zoo and felt comfortable being there in casual clothes. I got the panzerotti and it was divine!!!! Highly recommend.
In love with this spot! Best Italian food I've had in San Diego (and most of the US) They have a lovely patio, live music, super friendly service and the most delicious food! We ordered the Bruschetta, Caprese salad, Tortelli Piacentina, Scampi alla Giulio, for drinks we had their house red (Avalon - Cabernet Sauvignon) and coffee at the end. Price wise I also found it quite reasonable for the amount of food and portions served.

Jack & Giulio’s is the kind of Old Town spot that makes you feel like you stepped into a classic Italian time capsule—in the best way. It’s a long-standing, family-owned restaurant (a San Diego favorite since 1961) with that old-school red-linen vibe and warm lighting. We started strong with two martinis, then shared shrimp bisque, garlic bread, and a caprese salad. 😋 Every course came out hot, 🍝 paced perfectly, and plated like they actually care. I ordered the cannelloni (comforty, rich, and exactly what I wanted), and he had the linguine with clams—fresh, briny, and generous on the seafood. We finished with a double espresso, ☕️ which was the perfect clean little mic-drop at the end.
Amazing service, cocktails, and food tonight. Our server, an older gentleman in a white shirt, was absolutely fantastic. I neglected to ask his name but his initials MIGHT have been VR if we read the receipt right. The lemon drop martini and espresso martini were amazing - he made them himself! Great work. The bruschetta is excellent. The pasta and veal were both absolutely delicious. We ended with a strawberries and cream dessert. Best Italian experience in San Diego - and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve been to one of the most highly booked ones as well as ones in Little Italy, and Jack & Giulio’s exceeded them. We had a great date night here and will return soon.
Random find in San Diego Old Town. Very quaint place. Brought the kids. They accommodated with a split meal. But the shrimp bisque was delightful. Honestly it was the best flavors. Highly recommend.
We went on Wednesday night (the last night of the summer Wednesday music) and sat in the patio because they had live easy, listening music, which was wonderful. We all got the Scampi alla Giulio which they incorporated the pasta into the dish! A bottle of wine, Caesar salads! Our friend from Germany visiting with us insisted that was the one place he wanted to go for that dish! It’s also our favorite! Our waiter was impeccable and so attentive we felt like we were royalty. We go two or three times a year and get the same dish. No one makes it better than them!

Outstanding FOOD and Drinks. The only reason for 4 stars is that we sat outside and it started to get a bit chili, I saw a few patio heaters upon arrival. Unfortunately the patio heater were not working, so we had to go inside. That was a bummer. The only negative. Food was great, vibe was awesome, service was Flawless. Please visit if you're in the mood for Great Italian affair. Old town is innovated with Mexican food, which is fine if you're in the mood for that. We were unsure of what we wished for, and just cruised through old town, and Italian jumped out at us. Definitely worth the visit, and repeat visit.

I enjoyed the food, the music, and the service. The lasagna was good and the Alfredo sauce was quite good. One minor complaint is there doesn't seem to be a good place to wait for the host to sit you. The prices are a bit high. I didn't love the Ceasar salad.

Having been to the original Giulios Pacific beach in the 80's we were so looking forward to what turned out to be total disappointment. Reservation for 5 in a not busy weekday and we constantly needed to get waitor attention for bread, wine and order taking. Food was a total disappointment. Linguine with clams only in shells and many closed which should never be served. The linguine was less than an ounce, non existent on this plate. My wife's chicken marsala was tough and others lasagna was dry. We needed to ask for pasta and sauce. We frequent many Italian restaurants and this food was way below other's. Will not go back and very, very disappointed.

First time visiting with my brother and the experience was extremely disappointing. I have a vegetable oil allergy and can only eat food cooked in olive oil. One server initially told me they primarily use olive oil, but once our actual server took over, he repeatedly insisted that everything was cooked in peanut oil. When I calmly explained multiple times that I cannot have peanut oil, he became confrontational and dismissive rather than helpful or reassuring. I was then told there was only one pasta dish on the entire menu I could eat, and I wasn’t allowed to add shrimp to it. When the dish arrived, the portion was shockingly small — literally a few bites of pasta. Even the server commented on how quickly I finished, which should say everything about the portion size. I completely understand kitchen limitations and allergy protocols, but the confusion, poor communication, rude attitude, and tiny portion made this a frustrating and uncomfortable first visit. I left hungry and disappointed, which is not acceptable for a paid dining experience. I’m sharing this in hopes management takes allergy concerns more seriously and improves staff training and portion standards going forward.
