Jimmy's Famous was hands down the best place to have a party. We just had out networking group Christmas party last week. The venue is the perfect location, the food was amazing, and the service was the BEST! I highly recommend Jimmy's for any celebration, or just needing a great place for lunch or dinner. Simply the best!

My fiancé and I visited today after navigating 2-3 hours of road closures on the 5 Freeway, and all we were hoping for was a nice place to eat. We stumbled upon this gem, and we're so glad we did. I’m currently managing some new health challenges that have led me to a very restrictive food plan, one that I’m still adjusting to. Despite the limitations, our server, Hope, along with the rest of the staff, went above and beyond to accommodate me. They were patient, kind, and truly understanding, never making me feel uncomfortable or ashamed for requesting a special order. Their warmth made both me and my fiancé feel so welcomed and at ease. The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting. We will definitely be returning for not only the great food but also the wonderful service. Please pass along our sincere thanks to Hope for taking such wonderful care of us. We truly appreciated her kindness and attentiveness!

Nov 2025 • Friends Good food served fast at this waterfront dining restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and DOG-Friendly. The hostess and the server were friendly and checked on our comfort and needs multiple times. I had the large SALAD with added grilled (5) SHRIMP. The salad had fresh greens, avocado, grilled corn kernels, tomatoes. I was not able to finish it! My friend had the same salad but had the grilled SALMON added. I am told the hamburgers & fries are good here too.

The restaurant has a great location overlooking the marina. My bartender Jasmine was attentive and polite checking on me throughout the meal. Delicious food, great environment, and right on the water.

This was our first time at this restaurant. We had heard great things about this place and it didn't disappoint. Wonderful fast service from a friendly staff. We ordered one drink each along with the Steamers, Famous Cheeseburger, and the Fish Sandwich which was fresh caught fish of the day Swordfish the cooks are amazing! Everything was delicious! Lovely clean establishment, with a beautiful view. 13/10 will return this Sunday to try more recommendations!

Jimmy's is in a great spot on the Harbor in San Diego. I had the swordfish and it was delicious. Wife had the French Dip and the boys got fish & chips and a burger. It was all good. Super views of the area with solid service. Give it a shot.

I stopped by Jimmy’s Old Fashion Tavern and tried a few of their staples. The old fashioned was solid smooth, well balanced, and not overly sweet, just how it should be. The calamari was crispy with a nice kick from the dipping sauce, definitely a great starter. As for the burger, it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right, with a good bun-to-patty ratio. Overall, a satisfying spot for a casual meal and a good drink.

The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and very attentive. They offer brunch items as well as bottomless mimosas. This is a great place next to the harbor overlooking the boats with outdoor seating to soak up the sun or indoor seating with a full bar with tv's.

What an outstanding place to have a casual meal! The space is open to the beautiful San Diego harbor. The people who work here are genuinely kind and professional. Started with the Brussel Sprouts=amazing. Never had them with a drizzle of maple syrup but it really set the dish off! Finished with the clam chowder which was on the spicy side which I loved. Excellent local beer selection. Will definitely dine here again.

Got the fish and chips, Jimmy's burger, and kids burger. The cod fish was very yummy. Very flaky, cooked well. Burgers were good. Jimmy's had a sweet taste to it, in a good way.

Well I just found the Best Hamburger in San Diego and its right here at Jimmy's Famous American Tavern. Our friends took us here and we both order the " Jimmy Burger" . This has Jalapeno Jam, Bacon and Pimento Cheese. Its absolutely delicious and cant wait to go back. The other amazing entrée was the French dip sandwich. Very good meet and dipping sauce. Will be back soon!

This was our first time visiting San Diego, and we had no idea where to eat first. Let's just say that by eating here on day one, we really set the bar high! The food... the service... and the atmosphere was all amazing! I had the fish and chips, and my husband had the French dip. We both loved our meals! We also ordered the calamari and really enjoyed them too! The atmosphere was rustic, fun, and busy! Not to mention, you are right on the water!! Lastly, the service was absolutely amazing! Top notch!! I highly recommend this place!!! 👌 Total bill: $78 for 2 meals, 1 appetizer, and 1 drink. Note: You have to pay for parking. It's a dollar an hour.

Very very impressed!!! We came 30 minutes to close (which we wouldn’t normally ever do) and they were so kind to us and sat us. Impeccable service! Everyone was friendly and very attentive and helpful with our questions. The food was amazing! And I've tried a couple of different items. I ordered hot Nashville chicken sandwich and FIRE 🔥. We also got Calamari and my friend the famous French dip. I love food and the portions are PLENTIFUL! Oh and they had delicious Mocktails- do die for!!! And the ambiance is amazing is great! We were just completely impressed. Jimmy's, thank you for a great experience! Definitely highly recommend!!!

Location was nice, we were sat by a window looking out to the docks. Our server was really nice and attentive. The food was ok. Calamari was overpriced for the portion we got. Very dog friendly!

The restaurant is ideally situated with a lovely view of the marina. My bartender was genuinely attentive and friendly, checking in on me throughout the meal. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and being right on the water made it even more special. I enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower from the happy hour menu, paired with a refreshing cold beer. I also tried the steak fries—everything turned out absolutely fantastic! The service standards were exceptional. My burger was served with homemade chips, and the dip sandwich came with fries. Even though it was winter, we loved sitting outside under the pavilion while enjoying the beautiful view of the bay, especially with the cozy overhead heating keeping us warm.

This was our first time here. Connor, our server, was awesome. She explained the options and made delicious food recommendations. I had the swordfish (catch of the day) dinner and my husband had fish tacos. Both dishes were delicious and sat well with us. We happened upon this restaurant because we just got to town and most all the restaurants were an hour wait. Tho I will say, online said they didn't have tables. We went to see if they had eating at the bar, up they said online info was incorrect and they had immediate seating for 2. We even got to sit outside with a habor view.

Great place if you prefer outdoor dining by water and boats, but very noisy inside the bar. Their late afternoon is peaceful as they are not facing the sun directly so you don’t get scorched by the sun

The food was good. My husband got the cheeseburger, and my son got the Cowboy buger- neither of them thought the burger was that great. I had the French Dip - it was great, and the portion size was huge! The sauce was delicious, and the horseradish sauce was good, too! My daughter got the mac n cheese and loved it. We got the app with the 2 dips: guacamole and pimento both were good, but the guacamole was spicy. The atmosphere was good but not quite what I expected.

Service was spectacular. Both waiters that attended us were amazing. The younger waiter was helpful in giving us his food recommendations!! Food is really delicious, especially the fish & chips not even mentioning the clam chowder they have different twist with Chipotle sauce, but still, over all quite delicious, only negative is the tuna sandwich i though it was cold tuna but i never had tuna baked so i really didnt like that i wish there was an option for cold tuna other then that I highly recommend this establishment
