The French onion soup is better than the cold lobster and crab crème fraiche, which tasted fishy. The pork shank and steak fries were both great. Hazelnut chocolate cake was rich in flavor. Crème brûlée was good, but the sugar topping was thick and the custard lacked real vanilla bean flecks.

Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had in San Diego. First off, the service was impeccable. Great recommendations by our server and attentive service from the entire staff as far as making sure that our water or iced teas or wines were topped off. The pate was delicious, but the snails were out of this world great. I would eat 47,000 of those escargots. The pork chop may have been the best pork chop that I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant in the last 20 years. The duck was really good, but definitely to me was second to the pork chop. The french fries were delicious as were the potatoes au gratin. Lastly, the crème brûlée was on point. But if you go, you have to get the escargot. If not, I will show up at your table and order it and eat it in front of you.

It was my first real french cuisine experience. They only have a few tables, so the vibe feels so cozy. Good for a special occasion, and their food is phenomenal. I ordered pork chop by their recommendation, and we thought pork chop would be weird in a french restaurant. But their pork chop was the best pork chop I have ever had in my life. The mushroom sauce is insanely flavorful. Escargot was very good and buttery, and their duck dish was also great. Also have their creme brûlée!

If you’re in the mood for a cozy spot, this French restaurant is a winner! The duck confit is crispy and tender, the mussels are incredible, and the dessert—just perfect. Plus, the service is super friendly and makes you feel like family. Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice and classic French restaurant! It surprises us because it’s pretty tiny indoors with only 8 tables and several bar seats. But you don’t feel crowded and it’s very cozy. The foods here are very delicious. We ordered French Onion Soup and Escargot for appetizers, Duck Confit for Entree and Bread & Butter as a side. All of the foods are very good, I recommend them all. The cocktails are very nice as well. My husband had two glasses of French 75 and I had a Kir Royal, both are great.

The food was thoughtful and delicious. The duck comfy was perfectly crispy on the outside and fell off the bone. The mussels in lobster bisque were tender and delicious and the bisque. The servers were very attentive, but also low-key and knowledgeable. The small quiet space they have to offer was the perfect setting for this delicious dinner. We will definitely return !!

This spot offers fantastic upscale French cuisine. The appetizers are a hit, especially the large pate and rich lobster bisque. The main course features incredibly tender meat that falls right off the bone. The crème brûlée is excellent, though the crepe is a bit heavy on the syrup. To top it off, they serve some of the best, most elegant cocktails around.

Excellent place! Delicious, nice environment and superb service. Drinks are different and good. I tried the special that was a shank pork and it was soft, savory and right amount of sauce/broth. We had paté as entrance and it was a genuine flavor, feeling the authenticity of a home made paté. The place is nice, small and makes you feel welcome and comfy. For dessert we had the Crepes Suzette and they were out of regular. Not super sweet, but very balanced. I enjoyed every bite. I definitely will come back here.

Quaint and cozy with impeccable service and outstanding food. The duck confit, a house specialty, is absolutely exceptional. The steak and frites were equally delicious. They also have a fantastic wine list. Located in a wonderful spot, this restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

La Bonne Table in Hillcrest is a delightful culinary escape to the heart of France. Our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The Soupe À L'oignon was a comforting start, the classic French onion soup with croutons and melted gruyere was rich and flavorful. Les Escargot, served with sizzling garlic butter and parsley, was a delicious and aromatic delight. The Steak Et Frites, featuring hanger steak with hand-cut fries and peppercorn sauce, showcased the perfect balance of tenderness and bold flavors. The Moules Marinieres, steaming Carlsbad mussels in a broth of garlic, shallots, and white wine served with fries, was a seafood lover's dream. To cap off the culinary journey, we indulged in the Crème Brûlée – a decadent and perfectly caramelized dessert. The attentive service enhanced the overall experience, making it an ideal choice for a romantic date night. La Bonne Table is a true gem in Hillcrest, offering an intimate ambiance, delectable French cuisine, and impeccable service. It's a must-visit for those seeking an authentic taste of France in the heart of San Diego.

A wonderful French spot with easy evening parking and a wonderful menu and service. Lots of gluten free options across the menu and great wine. It reminded us of a cozy warm spot in Paris and was just what we needed.

So fortunate to arrive at the right moment and get the last two bar seats for the night. “Paris in SD.” That’s right. Intimate space, sizzling with conversations, among family and old friends (sometimes newly made ones). Nobody missed the list of cocktails with the ensnaring name and description - probably you would also be curious about The Saint :) Menu was condense - essential and classic French and cannot be wrong w any item on it. For entrée we tried the mussels - very delicious and it was rare that one could enjoy spoonfuls of the soup, which was cooked w lobster meat and saturated w umami.

Amazing restaurant! I had the best french onion soup and pork chop here! Took my girlfriend on a date for her birthday and the staff really made the night so wonderful (offered free bread and port wine for dessert). Small things like this really mean a lot - especially on top of such a wonderful meal

Went here for Restaurant Week. Both our main dishes were perfect, as were the apps and desserts. Steak was cooked perfectly, the duck confit was perfectly crispy and savory, and the atmosphere was just as you’ll find in any small spot in Paris. Highly recommend!

We love going to North Park for dinner. We got lucky in parking. When we got in they were ready for us and they were very patient with us cuz we were a little bit late. A waiter noticed that we had a hard time reading our menu so he brought us over a pairof reader glasses. San Francisco fairly quick and our dinner was so delicious.

Absolutely wonderful and satisfying find! The food was delicious and was out pretty fast. The servers were cheerful, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the dessert had me spinning (in a good way). 10/10 recommend. Be sure to make a reservation, because this place is understandably in high demand

I enjoyed a wonderful early dinner here at La Bonne Table during a business trip. The easily accessible restaurant reminded me of home cooking and I waxed nostalgic for the quaint house restaurant combination of Jean's in Colton, CA. The elements for the nostalgia were all present: well made classic recipes, friendly and accommodating service, and a clean and quaint ambiance. The weather and outdoor seating made La Bonne Table a better dining option. Also, Jean's closed when Jean passed away in his 80s. A true American immigrant success story. PROS: The deliciously decadent homestyle portions of homemade pate, tart cornichons, and sour mustard smeared across freshly warmed crusty baguette. The piping hot cassoulet with duck confit, talousse sausage, garlic sausage, and thick cut bacon with white beans filled me with beautiful memories from my 20s at Jean's and became a part of small Francophile gastronomic community in the Inland Empire. It tasted like home. Everything homemade and tasty. Dining next to me were old friends celebrating their birthdays, a family enjoying a reunion dinner, a couple on a date, and friends taking a meal on the terrace. The friendly and attentive servers worked as a team to help me feel welcomed in their home. The prices were extremely reasonable. I highly recommend. CONS: The only con is the local neighborhood being so close to the restaurant. It worked great until some random car alarm disrupted the quiet of the sonic landscape for over 15 to 20 minutes. People came in soliciiting or something. The restaurant staff did all they could to accommodate. ⚜️💚⚜️

We came here for San Diego Restaurant Week, and was glad we got to try a new place that was decent! The food was good. The steak was cooked perfectly. The duck confit was tender. The Crepes Suzette was interesting at first but ended up liking it. It's a tiny restaurant with only 20 seats inside. It's a very intimate setting. We didn't get to try too much of the wine because we went on a Monday and had work the next day. Maybe next time!

I’m shocked that this place has a 4.8 star rating. This is my first time at a mediocre 4.8 star restaurant. Makes me wonder if the owner has found a way to fix the reviews. I ordered the escargot, the duck, and the crème brûlée. The escargot was tiny, smallest I’ve ever had. Each snail was less than a bite. So it wasn’t satisfying at all. The puff pastry covering each snail was novel, but didn’t compensate for the teeny size. The duck was dry and the mustard sauce accompanying it was bland. The duck skin was nicely crisp (the highlight of the dish) but the brussel sprouts were bland and uninteresting. The crème brûlée was the best part of the meal. The berries were sweet and pleasant. The top of the brûlée was crisp. But the custard wasn’t rich. It almost tasted like a “lite” dessert although I’m sure it wasn’t. The service was excellent as one might expect at a $100+ restaurant. The dining room was almost as small as the escargot. 10 small tables were jammed in the tiny space. The decor was extremely uninteresting. Small black and white photos in boring frames unapologetically plastered the walls. I tried finding something interesting to look at, with no luck. I will not be back. There are too many other good restaurants in San Diego to waste one’s time and money here.

In response. The other guests were not that happy either. They may have finished their dishes but we had conversations after. The pork was not the only thing that was not good. I asked for it to not have any pink, not to be very well done. There was no flavor to it unfortunately. Appreciate your reply but it wasn’t all true. Have a great day.
