We've been coming to Mavericks for a while now and usually just come for drinks, but we have had lunch a few times, too. The first time we ate, my husband and I got burgers (and he also had another breakfast plate)! Sadly, the last time we came, they no longer had the Impossible vegan burger patties, so I just got some chips, guacamole, and a quesadilla. The food was delicious, the drinks were good, and the service was excellent.

This bar is actually pretty cool. Great vibes. The people were friendly. The drinks were a bit pricey, but fair considering the location. The kitchen was closed before I could order food. I think it closes at 10pm on Saturday. It was pretty spacious, but we had to queue up for the dance floor inside. Would definitely go back.

Spacious bar with a lot of seating. Not a lot of shaded spots and if so those get taken pretty quickly. The wait staff was a bit slow, but we came on a Saturday for football so I guess its understandable. I got a bowl and it was really good. As a PSU alumni great place to watch the game as well.

I like this place. I like the atmosphere, the vibe. Last time I was there I got a keto bowl. It wasn’t bad but the ratio of meat to veggies wasn’t good. Too much green and too little protein. When it is crowded, it can be hard to get a drink.

Fancy looking restaurant with a nice vibe in the interior. Flatbreads are pretty good, maybe feel like they're trying too hard on pizza but all in all they have unique toppings you don't normally see at pizzerias.

Great game-day bar, but overall volume is super loud. Servers are generally quite nice, but it can get so busy that there are delays (we waited 55mins from time of order to food being brought out during our most recent visit). The facility is oriented around an open-air square with 3 zones, each with it's own bar. The crowd flow is good overall and there are viewing screens in each zone. The bloody Mary was only ok...had 2, each was tart, lacking any veg and had zero spice/heat (won't order them again). The chopped salad was great, and recommend adding shrimp (super reasonable price!). Chips and salsa are good, as is the ceviche. Addition September 2024: had the ahi nachos and California fries on the most recent visit and both were excellent... highly recommend. Volume still too loud for the DJ/interior music, and the football games were hard to hear.

Just came here today for Brunch and had a great experience. Many places in San Diego are not abiding by social distancing requirements and I was pleased to see Mavericks creating a very safe environment. They require face masks to get in and walk around. You may remove the face masks when seated at your table. Temperature checks and ID checks happen at the door. The tables were very clearly spaced more than 6 feet apart and all workers were wearing masks. They have TONS of outdoor space as well as indoor tables. If you order alcohol, you are required to order a food dish as well. They are limiting tables to 90 minutes. The weekend Breakfast/Brunch was extended for the holiday. It included $10 Bottles of Champagne and Rose which comes with a selection of Mimosa Juices! The food was very affordable. We got 2 coffees, a bottle of Brut w/ orange juice, avocado toast, and an acai bowl for $41!! The food and drinks were not amazing, but it definitely satisfied us. The vibes were great with lots of music and happy employees. I have never been here pre covid, but I could imagine this as a super fun place to go out.

This place is really cool! Chill vibe, fun games, lovely outdoor space, great deals... what’s not to love?? I came here for Taco Tuesday and got the $10 AYCE taco bar special and a $4 margarita. The tacos are way better than I expected and you get a lot of food for $10! The margarita was good (love the tajin rim) but wasn’t that strong. Their $4 well drinks are much stronger. They also had $4 tequila shots so you know ya girl got one of those too (no regrets). And as a bonus, they’re dog friendly! I’d love to come back here and try more soon.

We were really looking forward to our night out, but unfortunately, the service completely ruined our experience. Our server was extremely rude from the moment we sat down—she wouldn’t acknowledge us when we said thank you, barely interacted with us, and gave us attitude whenever we asked a simple question. We waited 40 minutes for our food, and when we politely asked about it, we were met with a dismissive response about the restaurant being busy—despite there only being four other tables. To make matters worse, when the food finally came out, it was given to a part of our group that arrived way after us, adding another 20 minutes to our wait. When our order finally arrived, we tried to confirm it was correct, and the server responded with even more attitude, eye-rolling, and overall unprofessional behavior. She never introduced herself, never checked in on us, and made us feel completely unwelcome.We don’t know her name because she never told us, but she was a brunette girl with glasses. To top it off, when we tried to leave early from our group, she made it incredibly uncomfortable. She told us she’d only split the bill four ways—which we never even opposed—but she made a huge scene about us wanting to pay and go. She loudly got everyone’s attention, threw her hands up in frustration, and acted as if we were making an unreasonable request. When we finally paid, she grabbed the receipt and walked away before I could sign it. I mentioned that we hadn’t left a tip yet, and she sarcastically said, “It’s fine.” I asked if she had tipped herself, and she dramatically responded, “No, it’s fine,” making a scene in front of our group. I told her, “That’s your choice then,” and she stormed off. The food itself was decent, especially considering the deal, but the poor service made it hard to enjoy our meal. We felt so uncomfortable that we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. I hope management addresses this, because no guest should be treated this way.

I came here for nearly 4 years to dance and meet people and I've never had a problem. I always minded my own business, had a great time, and never caused trouble. On August 23, 2025 I brought my camera into the bar to capture the nightlife scene. Everything was fine until I went back into the dance area after taking a break. The security followed me inside and then shined a light on me and guided me out. I was kicked out because there was a group that stated I was following them and trying to take pictures of them without their consent. There was no evidence of this. I tried reasoning with security that I was minding my own business and there were no pictures of this specific group on the camera, to which one bouncer remarked "you could've deleted them, you've been in there a while". Basically, they shut down everything I tried explaining to them. On September 6, 2025, two weeks after this supposed 'incident', I walk into the line, where I am immediately told by one of the bouncers that I have been banned from Mavericks and marked as a "dangerous patron". What?? The guy scanning IDs wouldn't scan my ID. Instead said... "we can't let you into the club, you're too reckless". Was allowed into the club the weekend before (August 29, AFTER this supposed incident). Everything was fine. Asked him what the reasoning was... he said it was due to sexual harassment!! What?? I NEVER put my hands on anyone. I NEVER interacted with the group of girls they claimed had complained to security. Then the guy tried to hand me false hope by saying to "come back tomorrow and to talk to a manager". No thank you. There is nothing to talk about, because I didn't do anything. Bouncers are on a total power trip. The security/management bans patrons abruptly and whenever they just feel like it. After reading other reviews, this bar is incredibly notorious for treating their patrons in this manner, especially those who come alone. This sudden treatment from Mavericks security made me feel extremely unwelcome and worthless. I hope they don't prey on other innocent clubgoers who have spent years of their life there. This place won't be around much longer if they keep this up. Unfortunately for Mavericks, just about every other bar I visit in PB gladly enjoys my company and at least two of them let me in without showing ID. Definitely a personal decision from Mavericks security and management. Also, the VIP girls are stuck up and they basically did nothing but stare and give me dirty looks... thankfully one of them was nice enough to talk for a few minutes. If you're not a regular buying drinks at the bar, or table service, you also aren't valued. The drinks are overpriced ($14 minimum) and are mostly watered down, which I will not spend my hard-earned money on. There used to be better security in the past, but over time, it's changed into a bunch of arrogant pricks with a profound lack for respect. Now it's just a terrible place, with terrible people, and unfortunately took me years to find this out. My word means little, so future patrons may very well find this out for themselves. In short: go anywhere else in PB but here, where they actually treat their patrons with respect.

I had a very upsetting experience at Mavericks that I feel management should seriously address. During our visit, a white female made a racist remark toward me. When I reacted to what was said, instead of staff addressing the racist comment, I was the one who ended up being removed from the bar. As we were being escorted out, the situation escalated further when a bouncer put his hands on my boyfriend and created a scene as if my boyfriend had done something wrong, which he had not. The physical contact and the way the situation was handled felt unnecessary and unprofessional. We had brought a friend with us who had never been to Mavericks before, and after witnessing everything that happened, he said he would never return. No guest should have to experience racist remarks or feel physically handled by staff when they have done nothing wrong. Situations like this should be handled with fairness, professionalism, and proper de-escalation. I truly hope management takes this seriously and reviews how incidents like this are handled moving forward.

Was really really bummed out how the hours says you guys are open and walk across town just to find you guys closed. I had called multiple times before hand starting about 7:30pm, when I thought I just need to trust the hours they have listed online when I got no answer I was just thinking it could be busy. Please update your hours, kinda ruined my birthday celebration...

Unbelievably laughable entrance rules. On the recommendation of a friend, while visiting San Diego, myself and 3 friends (we're all in our early 40's) walked up to the front doors at Maverick's and were met by the young man on the right. I hand him my 100% valid Canadian Drivers License photo ID. He says "This doesn't work. You need your passport" At first i thought he was kidding. I offered to show him a photo of my passport, but that wasn't good enough. I asked to speak to a Manager. "He's just going to tell you the same thing." The Manager didn't come out. The bouncer on the left in the photo wouldn't give us the time of day either. I travel all around the world, and i've never been denied entry anywhere with a valid ID. It was early evening, there was zero line-up, and the place was certainly not full. The good news is, there were plenty of establishments on the beach who were happy to pop bottles for us last weekend.
