Reilly makes excellent espresso and provides super attentive, top-notch customer service. A special thanks to her. The coffee is great — there’s a clear understanding of the product, solid technique, and pleasant service. There isn’t much space to sit, as it’s full of people with laptops. But as an option to pop in and enjoy a quality coffee with friendly service — especially to go — it’s just perfect. So if you find yourself in the area, I definitely recommend it.
Finally, after a long search, I came across another good coffee shop with syrups that are made in-house! Latte execution was great and on point, however, the coffee beans are more on the lighter roast side, so the espresso is missing that bolder flavor I prefer. However, that’s just my personal taste and preference. The iced matcha latte was pretty good too.
Got just want i wanted. perfect latte execution (imo haha) and in house syrups were a nice surprise. I notice the high quality. My friend also said the iced matcha latte was a hit. Friendly staff and quick service. Great coffee spot overall.
Came here to catch up on some work. Great WiFi. Good coffee. Chia seed pudding was made with a house-made strawberry compote. The fun drinks like the bikini bottom had options for matcha or espresso. Waffle was good but a bit too sweet for me.
Super cool coffee shop in Ocean Beach! Love the atmosphere, the staff is super friendly, and the coffee is amazing 🤌🤌 10/10 recommend. I got the 12oz vanilla latte with their house made vanilla and it was soooo good. The "for here" mugs are super cute pottery that added to the overall experience. I'm not sure what went wrong for the people who left less than 5 stars, but don't let it stop you from coming here.
If you order online, the wait is 10 minutes for your coffee to go. Especially good to do on a busy weekend! This business is also DOG-FRIENDLY. The coffee barista also makes very pretty designs with the hot milk/milk substitutes . 🩷
I attended one of their music shows after the store closed. (I got there a little early and you can see how they cleared all the racks. There was a lot of room!) The music wasn’t annoying loud like it sometimes is in tiny venues. The DJ working on the sound did a great job. The bands they had were alternative/metal/rock and they were actually really good and super nice to talk to before and after the show. I would go again for a music show, but maybe get there a little earlier to shop. They had some cute stuff.
MARCH 2024 UPDATE: I came back to OB Beans for an espresso and to show a travel companion one of my favorite coffee shops. I ended up purchasing whole beans due to the roast on dates and the Ethiopian Gesha offering. I can't wait to home brew with these beans. I also purchased a Hario product that I plan to use for smaller pour overs so I don't have to use a paper filter for a less than 10oz cup. A few other points that made this visit awesome: Skateboard parking, quaint back patio, friendly staff. I was able to take a few photo's to help bring my visit to life. Enjoy. The San Diego coffee scene exceeds expectations again! I sought out OB Beans Coffee Roasters based on it's proximity to both the beach and the airport and based on their reputation for great tasting coffee. I was absolutely delighted. I came straight from SAN airport to OB Beans Coffee Coffee Roasters since it proved to be a great meeting spot before heading to the nearby beach on a Sunday afternoon. I was able to get my coffee and kill some time while waiting to meet a friend. The vibe was relaxed, casual, and fun! The coffee was seriously delicious. I would for sure come back to OB Beans for more coffee and to purchase some whole beans for home brewing. Also, if you are looking for a beach vibe that is not touristy, the OB area is just for you. I think OB Beans encapsulates the Ocean Beach neighborhood well. So if you are exploring San Diego and what to know what Ocean Beach is all about, spend some time at OB Beans Coffee Roasters.
- I had a really nice bagel and would love to see a vegetable heavy veggie option. - the drip coffee was tasty, but I’d love to see more coffees to choose from. The one I had was pretty acidic. More varieties would be super cool. - I loved the fact that there was filtered water available, as opposed to the chlorine taste one usually gets.
5 FREAKING STARS YOU HEAR ME!!!!! So, let me break this down for ya.... 100% one of the best vibe coffee establishments I've visited (globally), and that's saying something! Maybe it's the sewing machine in the window of the boutique.... naw, it's the beans man!!! I digress..... The coffee was legit and the baristas were an absolute pleasure to speak with! I went with a Cortado AND Americano because I wanted to see if the skills matched the vibe, they did!!! Then I realized my nourishment wasn't up to date as I'd just arrived in town from an international flight the evening before. ENTER WAFFLE WITH AVOCADO AND BACON!?!?!?!? What in the ever loving, middle of nowhere corn field, majestic thing of beauty that turned out to be! Seriously, never before seen this pairing, but wow am I glad I can speak to it now!!!! Super pleased with my experience at OB Beans Coffee Roasters, and I sure you will be too!!!
Absolutely loved this coffee shop! My daughter and I were on vacation, and we very much enjoyed the coffee and vibe. Great staff, excellent coffee. Thank you!

I fell in love with this place day one in Ocean Beach. Not only are their beverages fantastic but their customer service goes above and beyond. It's become my daily boost, not just for the coffee and food but the good vibes. They treat all customers with such kindness and seem to truly pay attention and remember their patrons. It only took one visit for me to know I found my coffee spot.
OB Beans is absolutely one of the best places in San Diego to get coffee and hang out (and we go to all the coffee places). Not only is the coffee great, the people are all super friendly and pleasant. We meet so many nice people, they should call it the "nice people coffee place." On top of that, they have a free book shelf that actually has amazing books - we can't believe the fantastic books we've found there!
First sip, of the Diego Guarda, a Costa Rica whole bean which is lightly roasted from the cafe's brand, (OB SUR Coffee Roasters), I sensed a pure balance silk finish. It is a light roast coffee with an AWESOME FULL BODY! It surprised me! I am only partial to medium-dark roast coffee beans. The notes stood out, especially the kumquat. The Granny Smith second note, represented itself as an awesome aftertaste. It was just perfect! This note had the right amount of tartness to let you know its presence, without it being overwhelming! The fruits from this coffee bean, are owed to the main roaster, Eric Garcia. I got to talk to him. He was so delightful, he did not mind giving me the skinny on the roasting process. He allowed me to try Costa Rica's, Diego, as a brew. I ended up buying the Diego, and two more bags of his whole bean coffees. What I love about this Cafe, it was welcoming, the staff is very friendly and you feel right at home. They roast their beans on premises. If you're ever in San Diego, please visit OB Beans Coffee Roasters. You will meet others who share the same passion for excellence when it comes to coffee! Hey Eric, see you in a couple of months. I love OB beans! They have the best coffee, great wifi, and the nicest staff. I spend so much time here working remotely-- would definitely recommend! This post was made in connection with a Toast promotion.

5 stars for the ambiance. One of the best in the city. 5 stars for the cheerfulness and welcoming attitude. 5 stars for the coffee art. 3 stars for the almond cappuccino. Believe me I I ow what an almond cappuccino is, how it should taste and served. I was not particularly impressed by the taste and felt that less almond milk was blended into overly roasted coffee beans.i will definitely visit the place again and the try the same coffee just to form a final opinion. Overall, it's was good experience.
Once again, the cafe operated by Roaster is generally not disappointed with the taste. In order to express the taste of roasted coffee beans well, a good espresso machine and grinder are also important, and other temperature management is paid attention to water management. There is an outdoor table in the back through the inner store. This place is recommended.
The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. We ordered an Americano and banana bread. The coffee and banana bread were both delicious.

Quaint little rustic study/coffee spot. Get here during slow times cause seats fill up fast. Also outdoor seating but if you have a laptop or a book it’s nicer indoors. Prices are good for what they offer, bathroom is clean and always stocked, overall a really pleasant and much needed coffee place.
Good people watching spot in the heart of ocean beach. Menu lists no prices. Expensive. This tiny mocha was $8.50. Plus tip. Geez. Good vibe overall, mellow.

This place takes liberal coffee shop in LA to the next level, which would be cool if only they made good drinks. Me and my friends ordered a combined total of 10 drinks, none of which were particularly good. The matcha was kind of just warm milk, and the vanilla latte tasted like water. I added packets of sugar to it, but the sugar didn't quite dissolve, so it just sat at the bottom of my drink like sand, a little crunchy surprise whenever I sipped my drink! The workers were lovely though.
