Delicious fresh made gluten free pizza. Cocktails were on point, along with the excellent service. Atmosphere is okay, however the food, drinks, and service make up for it.

This place has the best gluten free pizza, the crust was amazing and the staff was very nice. They have a variety of toppings and cheeses as well.

I'm a Neapolitan pizza lover and this is my favorite place in SD for it. My photos are my favorite 3 menu items: burrata caprese, Sergio pizza, and the tiramisu. You also can't go wrong with a classic Margherita pizza. I hear the pasta is good, but I get the pizza every time. Parking is easy in liberty station. It is near the airport so you get plane sounds every so often.

Very busy on Friday night. Our waitress is very friendly and did her best to be efficient, though she had several large groups of guests to attend Food tastes good, and the price is reasonable. Glad that we stopped by for dinner.

The pizza is delicious here and gluten free! The beet salad was also pretty good and the focaccia was tasty too. Wait staff were all nice enough and the to go/phone staff were very kind. At here twice during our short stay in San Diego

Came for a Friday evening dinner with some friends and honestly the food and drinks were nice (except Carbonara). It's just that they charged extra for every little thing. Husband got the Mule of the cocktail menu and friend got the Espresso Martini. Both brings were absolutely delicious! Neither of them were too strong (especially the espresso martini which I usually find quite strong). Another friend also got one of the wines and said it was nice. Got Focaccia for the table and it was lovely . Fresh and warm and good amount of Rosemary on top . Quite thin but good enough since it actually gave us that crispy edge and slightly chewy inside . Beet Salad was lovely! Absolutely appreciate how they had fresh greens and then the chopped up beet on top and some goat cheese and then the lentils. Most beet salads at restaurants don't focus on adding greens, but just a big bowl of beet so this was definitely nice. Lentils added a nice touch and even that balsamic pressing was delicious! We asked for grilled chicken on the side and the chicken was also cooked perfectly well! Nice seasoning with the crispy outside and the perfectly cooked inside. Carbonara pasta was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't proper yellow like how you would expect from a carbonara after the yolk is added on there. It looked more like a white sauce pasta. Even the flavor wasn't much like carbonara. Vesuvio pizza from the specials menu was also surprisingly good! It was Calabrian Chili, sausage, some cheese (looked like ricotta and pecorino) and black olives. We usually need to add some chili flakes or hot honey on our pizza to give it great, but this one was actually proper spicy! I was definitely not expecting that pizza to be that spicy! Definitely a good pizza though because that crust was perfectly cooked and not too much in comparison to the toppings and overall an enjoyable one. We were actually discussing about how we wanted garlic bread before actually asking for the focaccia and I don't know why but the server charged as $1 extra just to add garlic even though we didn't mention add garlic. We just asked for normal focaccia. I also asked for some extra hot honey on the side just to drizzle on some of the bread and pizza and they ended up charging $2 for a small 1½ oz container of Honey. Quite too much to be honest!

I’m a Margarita Pizza snob and haven’t found many locations in San Diego that cut the mustard…until now. This was pie to perfection with a thin, flexible base, just enough sauce, fresh basil and the right amount of cheeses. The bonus was the wood fired coal kisses crust. We sat in the patio which initially loud due to a child’s birthday party but ended up being elegant and peaceful with outdoor Italian lights and decor. The Special Spicy Ravioli was also fantastic - note, it’s “spicy “ and says so. If you don’t want the spice they can make it without. For dessert, the cannoli was smaller than I like and the Marzipan a bit grainy. The Tiramisu however, far made up for it. Delish! Our server Deseree was awesome with the perfect amount of attentive and accommodating. Making this as a new favorite spot! #Italian #Ravioli #Margarita pizza #Sandiego #Outdoordining #Tiramisu #LibertyStation

This place has the absolute BEST Gluten Free Pizza and focaccia I've ever eaten. This is our go to place and any time I am in the area, we will go here and my kids LOVE IT! The pizza and pasta (Gluten Free) and Non Gluten Free pasta are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I've been to 3 different locations and they are all AMAZING. I will say that the Encinitas location had a pizza called the Adriano that is hands down the BEST pizza I've EVER had. You can also get this pizza by special order (build your own). Only complaint is parking is kind of a pain and planes flying overhead can be very loud, but if you don't mind this and like me could care less because the food is great, then it's PERFECTION. **Please try it and find out for yourself**

Just enjoyed a wonderful lunch. My husband had linguine with the Buona Forchetta sauce and shrimp. We shared a delicious spinach salad and I had calamari with 5 big shrimp. Unfortunately, they did not accept a gift card I had received from a friend via Giftly. Supposedly we should have been able to use at any shop/restaurant at Liberty Station. The manager was very nice about it and did end up giving us a discount and some delicious tiramisu. We would definitely return as we did love the food and service. Thank you to the sweet waiter and manager.

I loved the pesto and I’m a sucker for some homemade pappardelle. I’d come back for it! Really debated between that and the meat sauce which also looked incredible - next time. Some friends who ordered off the specials weren’t as enthusiastic about their meals. I’d go with some of the homemade pastas and your choice of sauce - simple and amazing.

Update review -I love this place’s pizza! I think it’s one of my favorite Italian style pizzas in SD. I tried the hot honey one a long time ago, also had a blue cheese salad, which is both amazing. Sorry I forgot the names for these two items, but I remember the main ingredients in it tho. This time, I chose this place after my ArtWalk show, I want to treat my mom and husband for helping me with the art fair. Both of them love pizza. We tried one pizza - the special one on special menu called Sims Road, it is sooooo good! Very airy and flavorful with beautiful marble texture on the bottom of pizza dough, perfect. We also had a Calzone, Ezio, it’s also delicious, while I think pizza is still better. We also had a salad, Radicchio, I love the taste and the pine nuts in it. I think I’ll definitely come back, maybe their other locations. The staffs there are so sweet, they made pizza and smile! The only downside is we wait for a long time for our check at the end, my husband wasn’t happy about that. But overall, I think I really enjoyed. The price is pretty reasonable. Plus their house wine is amazing too! Previous review - I feel I'm so lucky to live in a city has a lot of good pizzas. My husband is half Italian, so pizza is something we have really regularly. We love all types of pizzas no matter Chicago style or New York style, but Italian style is the best. Here’s pizza is so authentic Italian style which is so airy, light also flavorful. The one we ordered called Lina, we highly recommend it. We also had a Cacio e Pepe gnocchi, it is amazing too! The gnocchi is so dense and starchy! Here’s drinks are nice too, I loved my Bellini.

Yummy Italian food from Officine Buona Forchetta. Great atmosphere and ambiance, with spacious, dog friendly patio seating. We ordered the vita pizza, seafood cioppino, and paccheri with octopus. The service was friendly and relatively quick. Recommend for a nice place to eat while enjoying Liberty Station.

Came here for dinner with friends and it was delicious! Tiramisu was amazing. The crust was good and it’s made on a pizza oven so. Some friends ordered their pasta and said it was good; there’s egg pasta options too. Just when we thought there wasn’t any Parmesan cheese, a lady came with the biggest bowl with ever seen and served us! They have gluten free options (both pasta and pizza) and even dairy free/vegan cheese options for pizza- which is a great option for lactose intolerant people. Only complaint is that they only had like one bathroom and it took forever for us to use it.

Met up here with some friends for a birthday. Never been before awesome wine, awesome service play area in the back patio for your kids to play and the food was absolutely delicious with vegan options as well for my fiance. The location was perfect for Liberty station the ambience vibe and feel was exactly what we were looking for. Great menu great options and selections and just a great atmosphere along with the employees and their service. We are fans and will definitely be back again..

We got lunch here on Valentine’s Day and had no issues getting seated quickly with a reservation. We had pizza and the potatoes and both were yummy! Only major feedback is cleanliness. We had to wipe our own table and chairs down as they had food from the guests before us. The couple next to us had to ask for new water glasses because theirs were dirty. Also, super random but I’ve never been to a restaurant that doesn’t carry ketchup, an aioli, or any kind of dipping sauce!

Semi Italian... at best. Server didn’t know the menu properly; choice of pasta styles and sauces, which is definitely not how it should be. Each sauce suits a particular style of pasta. Parmasan cheese was in a huge bowl at the server station, not on the table; no bread was offered as is offered in Italy. Americanised Italian.

Two pizzas will serve three people, especially with an appetizer. The pizza is of the soft, "floppy" type.

I have been going to Buona Forchetta for years! Since back when Nonna made special desserts herself. They quality has been maintained by the staff and this spot is in the perfect Point Loma neighborhood. I loved yhe Fattotore salad but it was definitely too heavy on the dressing. The pizzas, pastas and calamari hit the spot. I will say the penne pasta was mediocre but this is a solid 4/5

Another good find. Before we arrived I was taking a little slumber at our hotel. I asked my wife pick a place for dinner. Thirty minutes or so later she gently woke me up. Unfortunately I was in a deep sleep, that means I woke up with an attitude. I put on my pants while my wife directed our sons to put some pants on as well. After a short drive we pulled into a sweeeet parking spot, a little tight for our gas guzzling transport. As I step out the suv I noticed the building was unique. My wife told me it was an old navy training base. Pretty cool, right. Now to the nitty gritty. We had a reservation. We checked in at the hostess stand. The wait surprisingly wasn’t to bad. Our table was in the front area in the enclosed patio. It was a bit cold, so we asked if they could turn on the space heater. You probably guessed, it didn’t happen. We sat at our table for about 25 minutes until our waitress came over. The one good thing was that they at least brought water to the table. With the time waiting we had more than enough time to spend on the menu. Finally our waitress came over, no apologies for the wait. She started at her ordering device for a couple of minutes. Them she asked if we wanted drinks. We knew what we wanted already from drinks, appetizers, to main course. Now keep in mind I do not remember the dish names, I will describe them as close as possible for you to know what we ordered. Here’s what we ordered. Appetizers: a fried pizza dough it was 3 small fried pizza bread with different toppings. Yummmy! So good. Next was the focaccia, that was a super good, garlicky and great texture. Wine: Chianti Classico, this was funny because our waitress opened the bottle and served me a taste. I proceeded to taste the bottle and motioned it was good. She then rolled her eyes giving the impression like, “duh I know.” Now for the pasta, keep in mind their pasta is house made. Spicy Pasta w/ Chicken: I asked our waitress I wanted something spicy, she directed me to a sauce that would please my palette. I had the parpadale pasta. She was right! I liked it a lot. Carbonara: also really good, chose the tagliolini pasta. Pesto penne: yummy the pesto was delicious. Calzoni: a little different then a calzone as you can see in the pictures. Crust and fillings were delicious. This place was really busy and we understood that sometimes it’s hard to get to every table. Still I would recommend as a waitress or waiter to check in with your guests and let them know you will be right with them. I would definitely return, next time I might walk the market. Unfortunately by the time we finished our dinner the market was closing up.

This was my first time to Liberty Station and super excited to try BF. I can say it was a great experience. From service to food BF is a well oiled machine. We chose to sit inside on another beautiful day in San Diego. I will say that the ceilings are so high that they don't really clean the vents and exposed mechanicals. Myself living in a loft with exposed vents, mechanicals etc I understand this dilemma. However the walls and windows were all filthy and need a good cleaning. This didn't reflect on our experience but simply pointing out cleanliness is friendliness. We had calamari, salad, and a couple of pizzas. All was delicious and well prepared. Though the calamari didn't come with lemon which was strange. A quick request and that was rectified. Parking is kind of limited in this area of Liberty Station though a few blocks away there is tons of public parking. I'd imagine on a busy weekend that parking will be kind of a pain. Looking forward to going back soon, that pizza crust was phenomenal.

There are so many good reviews on this restaurant; however, based on my experience here, the food was absolutely terrible. It was extremely bland with no flavor at all. The rest of my party didn't enjoy their meals either. They stated the same thing- bland food with lack of flavor. My pasta looked like it was swimming in water. The sauce was terrible. I don't know if this was simply an off day for this establishment or something, but atleast the customer service was decent. Overall, I wouldn't recommend or return here again.

This was, without question, our worst experience at a Buona Forchetta restaurant — and that’s especially disappointing because we’ve genuinely loved this brand for years. After this visit, we will most likely avoid this Liberty Station location and stick to South Park and Coronado moving forward. We chose to sit inside for lunch, and from the moment we were seated, service was almost nonexistent. Aside from being shown to our table, we were not acknowledged until I had to subtly signal that we were being ignored before the bartender finally came over to take our order. Our focaccia appetizer was delivered, but the empty wooden serving board sat on our table for an extended period without being cleared. No one checked on us. After quite some time, we had to flag someone down just to get fresh plates, crushed red pepper, and chili oil in preparation for our pizza. When the pizza finally arrived, we weren’t offered Parmesan. Another server later asked if we wanted some — we said yes — but he never returned. I eventually had to track him down outside, and by the time he came back to sprinkle cheese on our pizza, we had already eaten a third of the pizza. It truly felt as if we were invisible dining inside versus those patrons who were seated outside in the patio. What made the experience even more surprising was that there were two managers present — one working at the bar and another doing paperwork at a table — along with multiple servers and staff. In fact, there appeared to be more employees than guests, with only about 15% of the tables occupied. Yet we were checked on minimally at best. To add to the frustration, I ultimately had to walk to the bar, get the manager’s attention, and inform him that we had been largely ignored and were ready to pay. He then had a patio server process our payment. Ironically, the most attention we received during our entire visit was the series of “thank you’s” as we were leaving. Given how much we’ve enjoyed Buona Forchetta in the past, this experience at Liberty Station was deeply disappointing. With such light occupancy and ample staff present, the lack of attentiveness was both surprising and unacceptable.

Workers will harass you if you hold a different belief than them and you happen to walk past. They will walk out to shout "pathetic!" While still in uniform, apron on! Every chef, we are taught to never leave the kitchen in your apron as it is unsanitary. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in the area, don't bother stopping here for their contaminated aprons

She changed her mind! We were seated outside in the patio area. It was a cold, windy night and their heater next to us wasn't turned on. We were seated next to the only window wind screen that wasn't pulled down. We asked if we could pull it down. Nope, "it's broken". I asked the server to suggest a dry wine. She shrugged and said Chardonnay but didn't seem very confident. I said okay but then thought I should look through the list myself and see what I could find so I told her I would like to hold off on the wine. She came back later to take her order. I asked her for a Pinot. She then yells across the restaurant, "she changed her mind!" I felt horrible. But I didn't change my mind, I asked her to hold off. It was such a crappy experience. We ran out to find a better restaurant.

This was my second time at this establishment and I am disappointed I gave it a second try. The first time I ordered focaccia and they delivered pizza dough. I’m not an expert, but that doesn’t seem right. What they brought to the table was so bad, the kitchen sent out a replacement without us saying anything. The food wasn’t great, but I thought that was a nice gesture so we tried again. This time, we ordered the vegetarian lasagne and the classic meat lasagne. Both had little to no flavor. All three people in our party were disappointed. It was freezing- they weren’t using all of the heaters despite it being like 57 degrees outside. I hope others have had better experiences here than I have, but I’m not going to be going again.
