Huge menu, Solid breakfast and bowls items. Matcha latte with oat milk was so so since the oat milk was a little too watery for my taste, espresso was fragrant and hit the spot. We got the chilaquiles and a parakeet bowl, both were delicious. Highly recommended for vegan options and healthy breakfast.
Fantastic quick breakfast experience. The hostess was so sweet, and when we had to make a last minute change to-go the staff was very accommodating. The waffle (excuse my at home plating attempt) was one of the best I've had in ages. Loaded with delicious toppings. I also give the cinnamon latte 5 stars, perfectly flavored without being too sweet. The decor/atmospheres is casual and cute. If I lived here I'd definitely make a return trip.
“Breakfast for Your Brain” — A Brilliant Start to the Day While visiting Parakeet Café in Little Italy, I discovered their Healthy Breakfast Bowl — though I’d call it Breakfast for Your Brain. Oatmeal, quinoa, cinnamon, walnuts, and fresh fruit (today: blueberries and strawberries). It’s clean, nourishing, and sneakily smart — everything you want to start your day sharp. And — no added sugar. Just real, whole ingredients. I’ve had it two days in a row now (see both pics). Paired it with a proper macchiato and a surprise sparkling water — simple and spot-on. ☕ + 🫐 + 🧠 = yes, please. If you’re in the area and want something that fuels both body and mind, give this a try. Thanks to Parakeet Café for serving food that feels as good as it tastes. *Why “Breakfast for Your Brain”? Inspired by the work of Drs. Dean & Ayesha Sherzai (The Brain Docs) and their book The 30-Day Alzheimer’s Solution, which explores the connection between food and cognitive health: • Oats & quinoa = steady energy + plant protein • Berries = antioxidants for brain support • Walnuts = plant-based omega-3s linked to memory • Cinnamon = blood sugar balance & focus • No added sugar = stable energy, better focus, and reduced inflammation
We needed a place to post up at before going to the San Diego airport (it’s such a small airport terminal). We ended up stopping by Parakeet Cafe as the Uber to the airport would be pretty quick and cheap for when we needed to go. The place was nice to post up at for a little over an hour. The staff was nice and they had plenty of delicious Vegan, Vegetarian, and regular menu items and pastries. A great spot!
Stumbled upon this cute lil cafe while looking for brunch options in 📍Little Italy, San Diego. This place was such a great find since they had abundant indoor seating, an aesthetic interior, and amazing brunch options!! 🍽️Ordered: Eggs & Salmon plate 💰15 Matcha latte 💰6 The beet-cured smoked salmon was the highlight of the dish, it was so unique and had such a beautiful flavor :o The salmon wasn’t overly salted at all and complemented the labneh toast 👏🏻👏🏻 I absolutely loved this dish and it has inspired my current brunch plate! Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes :)
This place is in my top three of my favourite places in Little Italy. I am in love with the menu, the number of healthy and delicious options it offers is infinite. You can tell that the quality of the food is excellent. The atmosphere is chill and relaxed and the waitresses are very kind. If you are nearby, it is a must 🙏🏻
Came upon the place while waiting for Salt & Straw to open. Got a latte with pistachio milk because I never been to any place except my own kitchen with pistachio milk,🤣. Man, it was good. I also had to try the amaranth wafers because I’ve never seen those before. It was hard to pick a flavor from the many they offer. They are so thin, light and crispy. I will definitely go back for more!
One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. I got the power bowl. The mix of flavors (just a tad bit heavy on salt) was amazing. And I felt like I was eating it forever. I also had the tumeric latte. Yummy. I got here just in time for Sunday breakfast. I arrived around 915 and by 930 there was a line.
I am a repeat customer. I love that everything is freshly prepared with quality ingredients, on site and behind a glass counter, the process is entirely transparent, and one can see the containers with nuts, and toppings. Everything is super clean. So far I have tried a vegan waffle, mushroom toast, and green Benedict on toast. All dishes were absolutely delicious. The coffee is good too. I have seen very appealing baked goods but haven't tried them yet.
I love this place my favorite is the avocado toast with an egg. My daughter loves the Belgium waffles everything was so good my husband had the chicken sandwich with potatoes. The only downside to my avocado toast was the mung beans they were so crunchy it felt like I was biting into an egg shell all the time next time I’ll order without the mung beans.
Amazing true organic food..not fake lie..currently this is real organic food with vegan options...awesome people too...note I am someone who is severely allergic to non organic foods. I ate here and beautiful no problem...nice great tasting organic..I got vegan options very easy..and they have very good coffee also.....nice ambiance also..and very responsive manager...had very good positive conversation manager Justin.. If you care about your health and into healthy good food be careful about of where you eat because many of the restaurants claiming organic here on Google is not..this one is..kudos to parakeet cafe..please support them so we can keep them open and feeding us.
This place ROCKS! What an encounter … an experience! The garage attendant across the street recommended this place and we will return! Chlorophyll detox drink and jicama lemon chips were just the beginning … great coffee … food … and amazing staff who cared that we were pleased with it all! Thank you!!!! And thank you LAZ for the recommendation! XX
Best brunch and breakfast spot in San Diego! Parakeet Café in Little Italy has everything you could want, delicious food, incredible drinks, and the kindest staff. I had the chance to collaborate with them and was blown away by how welcoming Connor and the team were from the very beginning. The drinks were outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully made. The food was not only beautiful but also packed with flavor, the kind of meal you want to come back for again and again. The space itself has such a bright, vibrant, and cozy feel that makes it perfect for catching up with friends, a casual breakfast, or even a solo coffee stop. What really makes Parakeet Café stand out is the people. The service and genuine warmth from the staff make the entire experience memorable. If you’re in San Diego, this is without a doubt a must-visit. I can’t recommend it enough!
Wow.. The only Coffee place in the area with really tasty and good coffee served with good high quality out milk with no seeds oil - apparently 2 things that very hard to find in many places here. Had it with delicious croissant Came back for squash soup (vegan) which was DELICIOUS I totally recommend this place and will definitely come back
Great service, food wasn’t to my liking but because I’m a very picky eater, my husband love it. Service was friendly and quick besides being quite busy. Nice coffee and great atmosphere
A cute little cafe tucked right on the corner of Little Italy. Beautiful decor and food is really great. You can chose to have a coffee or pastry or some really delicious food. A really chill place to hang out with family or friends. A must go place if in San diego Little Italy area.
One of my favorite places! Decor is darling. All their cups and glasses and plates and bags are so cute. Gluten free baked goods are amazing, especially the tuile cookies.
This place deserves 5 stars! Went here on a Saturday morning and even with the Farmer’s Market going on we were able to order and sit quickly. The inside had immaculate vibes with the cutest decor! I can never find Shakshuka anywhere and was so excited to find it on the menu here—it did not disappoint. I also ordered a mocha latte with almond milk, which they make in house!! My partner had the chilaquiles which was also tasty. It was my favorite spot we went to all weekend! Highly recommend to anyone coming through the area.
Absolutely loved this coffee shop. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the location is simply amazing. The whole vibe and entourage feel perfectly curated — comfortable, stylish, and relaxing. My hot chai tea was absolutely perfect. Truly a 5-star experience.
It was unbelievably delicious — nothing like a typical breakfast. Every dish felt unique: vibrant flavors, perfect textures, and unexpected combinations. Even the bread tasted special. Absolutely loved it. If you want a breakfast that actually surprises you — this is the place 💚✨
My friends and I found this place after dealing with another establishment that was rude to us and what a blessing in disguise that turned out to be! Parakeet Café completely turned our day around. Even on a busy Sunday, they had room for us right away. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The café was spotless, the atmosphere was gorgeous, and it felt like the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our time together. l ordered a mocha latte, which was absolutely delicious, and the food was fresh and full of flavor. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend!
My absolute favorite restaurant anywhere. I recommend anything here I have tried most things on the menu!. This is my go to whenever I am in town.
Parakeet Cafe in Little Italy has a lovely open, airy atmosphere with seating that overlooks the square. The space is simple and clean, matching their approach to food. I tried the vegetarian bowl with brown rice, mushrooms, carrots, and labneh. It was straightforward and tasty—fresh ingredients prepared simply. A solid choice for a relaxed, wholesome meal in the neighborhood.
I sought this place out during a short trip to San Diego because it’s seed-oil free, is committed to using organic and whole ingredients, and has lots of gluten-free options. Parakeet Café did not disappoint. I ordered their eggs and salmon w/ gluten free toast, and the acai bowl….they were both so good that I went I ordered the exact same thing at the Coronado location later that day. The staff were also nice.
We had the squash soup and Breakfast Burrito. Foods were yummy. Loved the atmosphere and decor too❤️
Perfect place at the center of Little Italy and center of the bi-weekly Farmer's Market which is mostly local vendors and their charming wares and foods/beverages rather than fresh foods (there are a few of those).
The food was really good, healthy Breakfast and lunch idea. Clean and nice, can sit outside and watch the view. Loved it
Food is delicious! The place itself nice and cozy. We tried several breakfast places while visiting San Diego for Christmas and this one appeared to be the best so far
Love the place, a little change they made was wise. Lately more k-pop music so definitely place to go and chill. Peanut butter added to açai bowl made it perfectly smooth. Green tea is slightly sour, but with sweet açai bowl made great combo

We love coming to this place. We come to San Diego periodically but my teenage daughter insists on having breakfast at Parakeet. The food is consistently excellent. She loves the truffle scramble. Albert the manager always checks in on us and makes us feel welcome (even if we spend a little extra time working on our laptops). The staff is VERY attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is perfect for our family. Very clean. Can't say enough good things about this place.
an amazing experience overall. coffee is great, service is on point, gluten free options are done well. ginger shots and juices are great, they’re bottled so not made in house, but that doesn’t take from it. i could see how some people would think it’s too loud, but i feel like i can converse and not be heard across the cafe so it feel right. Shout out to Chris.
I would give this place five stars, but it tends to be slow and/or forget items. Other than that, this place appears to be the best place to go to in this area for folks with dietary restrictions. I am gluten-free and dairy-free. I've been really impressed with the wide array of options and how good they are!
I initially planned to have brunch at a different restaurant across the street, but due to the long line, I decided to try this place instead, not expecting much. It turned out to be okay. Here, you order at the counter, receive a number, and they bring the food to your table. Though they are known for their smoothies, I ordered the "All I Avo Wanted"—a blue corn waffle with egg, avocado, and cheese. The taste was unexpected; the waffle wasn't as fluffy as a regular one due to the ingredients and had a flavor reminiscent of a taco but in a cake-like form. It was unique. My friend had a charcoal waffle, which tasted like a brownie with chocolate chips and cream—also decent. I also ordered a cappuccino. Overall, the food was okay, but you need to grab a table quickly as it can get crowded.
Super cute place! I love the different choices on the menu. This how I eat at home. I tried the turmeric latte (can't remember the exact name). I would have given a five but the gal didn't seem to be overly thrilled to be working there. I was a newbie so I wasn't too sure of the process. We are visiting from Washington State. Maybe this is how San Diego is now. It has been almost 20 years since I was in San Diego last. 😊😅
Cute cafe in little Italy, with a trendy vibe and slightly pricey but very tasty breakfast and brunch options. Smoothies are very tasty and bowls are healthy and filling. Expect to pay upwards of $20 for a bowl and smoothie. If you have a dog, there is a space outside to eat and staff don't mind ordering with your dog inside.
Fast service and good quality of food. I got 20% off by ordering from the app and still got to eat outside. The staff are always smiling and helping. Their croissants are fresh and amazing. The eggs Benedict is highly recommended. The food overall is very fresh and very good as well as the entire place is very aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend for a family breakfast spot. If I have to mention something, the macchiato is not that good.
Really cute inside, perfect place to pop in for a quick and healthy bite to eat. However, it’s incredibly like WAY overpriced, especially for what you get. You can taste ice chunks in smoothies as of lately. Food portion is very small. I still need to eat after I am done eating here. Not a place I would go to on the regular. Perhaps a “healthy treat yourself” pit stop once in a while during the daytime. Staff is friendly and decor is pretty. I like the open-concept, too.
Cute cafe and pretty good and fresh healthy food! It’s a big plus that they have gluten free options. The gluten free peach pie was my favorite - delicious! Great customer service too.
Cool little cafe right next to the Little Italy Market. It is within walking distance from Downtown SD, the Midway Museum, and the Coastline. Parking is as you can expect, a bit difficult, but nothing too bad. The place is very nice, well kept, and organized. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We definitely felt welcomed here. The food was delicious, downtown prices hahaha, but it was really good. Wife had the chilaquiles verdes and I had a burrito. They were tasty and excellent salsa! They do have only 1 bathroom, for male and females. Very clean and well maintained. Good experience overall!
For breakfast, we ordered the eggs with salmon and the avocado toast. The avocado toast was good, but nothing special, pretty standard. The cured salmon, though, was really tasty. I got my eggs poached, but they were overcooked, the yolk was hard, and I was hoping for them to be a bit runny. That was a bit disappointing. Overall, a decent breakfast, just not amazing.
I recently heard of Parakeet Café from two podcasters that I listen to and happened to be in town so decided to try it on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 0830 before it was too busy. You order at the register and then find a seat. That was, initially, not understood because we grabbed a table and didn’t know that no one would take our order. I ordered a turmeric latte (that was a little too sweet for me) and the French Omelette Sandwich. That was tasty. It’s a nice spot that wasn’t too crowded for a Sunday morning.
This is my least favorite Parakeet cafe in comparison to other locations. First reason: I tried the almond croissants here and they were very disappointing - would not recommend. Dry, not pleasant texture and scarce filling. The atmosphere is less cozy than what I would expect from a Parakeet cafe and there is no wi-fi available. Service was good though and everyone very nice and friendly.

The dirty Chai was excellent.. I had the eggs Benedict. It was tasty but being a benny guy I was really hoping for some hollandaise. Their version was healthier though. The decor was a bit kitschy for me but cute. Staff was super nice.

Parakeet Café is a really cute spot with great decor, it has a cozy vibe and seems like a great place to bring your laptop and get some work done. I ordered the matcha, and while it wasn’t the worst I’ve had, it was a bit bland for my taste. That said, the cup it came in was super cute, which added a nice touch to the experience. I definitely want to go back to try their pastries, they had a wide variety, including gluten-free and vegan options, which looked really tempting!
I’ve dined in and have taken out food here for both lunch and dinner several times. Food is always fairly average with the exception being their burger which is as they advertise! Chicken soup is also notable but pricey for what is given. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, service is fairly quick and it’s a pretty easy process to pop in and order food to go. All in all, if you’re looking for something a little healthier in the area and different then absolutely worth checking out Parakeet.
Ordered 3 lattes to go, drinks were ok, nothing special. They told us at the order counter that the wait is 10 mins for those drinks, we ended up waiting 50 minutes for the drinks. Does not seem well ran with how slow the drinks are made. Definitely not worth our time nor money (at 8-10 dollars a drink in a paper Togo cup). If your kitchen/baristas properly communicated with the front, your cashiers might have been able to provide us with a more accurate wait time, so that we could make an informed decision on whether we’d want to wait - which was no.
