Opinions de Stone Brewing Tap Room San Diego
The atmosphere is definitely the best in the city. The long wood tables that forms around the boulders makes it look like islands in the bay. each section has a fire pit coming out of it as well but its far enough away that in the sun its not too hot. The mix of seating around, including couch seating, makes it pretty good for any sized group. The beer itself was pretty good as well. We were a little sceptical at first since the canned stone beer we had was just okay but the tap was much better. The hazy was crisp and refreshing. In general its a great brewery that you should check out if your in town.
Incredibly kind and personable staff with delicious beer to match! You can also order the Thai food next door straight to your table! The vibes are immaculate and I definitely recommend to anyone in town.
Wowza! You gotta visit this brewery!! Alexander the bartender had the sweetest energy. He encouraged us to sample beers, and gave awesome recommendations. We tried the Delicious IPA, Rage-A-Latte, and Hop Engineer IPA. The patio was full of cool repurposed wood barrel furniture & shade from umbrellas. Great music variety playing too.
Being the first stop on our San Diego beer tour, Stone Brewing left an indelible mark with its exceptional brews, prompt service, and overall welcoming atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that this was a place where craftsmanship and hospitality intersected seamlessly. Flavorful Delights: Sampling Stone Brewing's array of beers was a journey through a spectrum of tastes and aromas. Each offering stood out for its distinct flavors, showcasing the brewery's commitment to producing high-quality and innovative brews. It's rare to encounter a place where every sip is a delight, and Stone Brewing certainly delivered on that front. Warm and Efficient Service: The staff's promptness and kindness set a positive tone for the rest of our tour. They were knowledgeable about the beers they served, making the tasting experience not only enjoyable but also informative. Their attentiveness added to the sense of hospitality that Stone Brewing exuded. A Memorable Experience: The brewery's ambiance played a significant role in shaping our visit. The combination of rustic charm and a laid-back vibe created an environment that felt like a welcoming haven for beer enthusiasts. It was clear that the design and layout of the space were carefully curated to enhance the overall experience. A Positive Start: Stone Brewing's strong showing on our beer tour set the bar high for the rest of our stops. The tasteful beers, exceptional service, and inviting atmosphere made it a memorable beginning to our exploration of San Diego's brewing scene. For anyone looking for a place where quality, taste, and hospitality intersect, Stone Brewing is undoubtedly a must-visit destination.
We had a great experience here. Great food and a good selection of beers. The service was good and prompt. They had a wide variety of foods and the vegan tofu meal was very good.
Of course you have to go to stone brewing when in the area. The ambiance is awesome. Outdoor sitting next to the fire table after hours is great. Beer is fantastic. Lots of big beers with great flavor. Didn’t let me down.
When we visited Stone Brewing, the taphouse was located just outside Petco field. Even though they have since moved to Kettner, they remain a taproom for some of the best beer to come out of California (IMHO). With 16 of the best they have to offer at the moment, the taphouse is a mandatory visit place every time we come to town, with multiple flights planned to sample as much of the range as we can. Merchandise is available.
I was excited to visit a Stone Brewery. They have outside seating. We chose to sit inside because UFC fights were on the flat screen. We ordered 2 flights from our phone by scanning the QR code for the menu. We didn't have to wait in line. Someone brought us our flights, probably in 10 minutes? It wasn't a long wait. They were fun to try. Some better than others. But all good. I love IPA'S. If I am back in the area, I'll visit again.
Shocker... yet another location of Stone Brewing delivering a very enjoyable and satisfying experience. Beers, (ability to order) sandwiches, good people, great service, outdoor space, San Diego weather... what else is needed in life? Carly was holding it down on the inside area, and I do not recall the name of the guy that was primarily serving my liquids but he was very chill and welcoming. I believe this is the fourth Stone location that I've been to, and this Kettner location serves as a next-of-kin to the other locations I've visited. It's a very nice spot to take in the rays while sitting in the outdoor area that was constructed like a done-up backyard with lots of seating (if you have friends, and even if you don't). Ordering was extremely efficient, idiot-proof, and prompt. I cannot say enough good things about my time guzzling Stone nectar after nectar after nectar after nectar at this location. The actual location and setup was solid, but the thing that really makes it thrive are the people working there. These are people that give off vibes that one could just hang with them, kick back, relax, drink Stone, and trade war stories from the Battle of Awesomeness. Thanks for the reminder of what I am missing from when I lived in San Diego. For now, I'm just a vacationer (the kind without Ken Vasoli).
Get down here for the small batch Pasadena Triple IPA, you won’t be disappointed by the dank hoppy syrupy punch!
Extensive tap list of awesome beers; they certainly know their hops! Great outdoor patio area to enjoy their quality ales. Exceptional customer service - the guy at the bar went out of his way to talk me through the beers and make sure I was comfortable.
This was a decent little tap room, with a small indoor space and a decent sized patio area. Really enjoyed all the beers, Stone really has really dialed in their recipes. No food, only beers, and I wouldn’t recommend coming her with kids due to limited space. Good for groups, and they have board games and a hook/ring game that keeps you around for a while. Recommended if you’re in the downtown area.
Great addition to the Stone Brewing family. Excellent tap room within easy walking distance from Santa Fe station. Fantastic range of beers, which means a taster flight is a must. Staff friendly and helpful too
Third and last brewery of the day. Stone is a famous brewery. I was once in Grimsby, Lincolnshire and the local brewery, Docks Beers, had a Stone tap take over. They had some of the best Stone beers I've ever had. Anyway, back to this Stone, it's a tap room and not the actual brewery but they had over two dozen beers on tap and what Sam, and I had was very good. Outside they had firepits and live entertainment. She was good. Bought T-Shirts for our local brewery servers as a Christmas gift.
We came to San Diego for a cruise, and got here a day early. What better thing to do than find some craft beer. Stone Brewing was doing a beer and cookie pairing in collaboration with the Girl Scouts of San Diego. What a great idea. The beers and the cookies were excellent pairs. Great job!
This place never disappoints. Staff is so friendly. Beers are great! They had pick 4, 20oz mix and match can special for $10! Outside and inside seating. Did not realize some of their beer is gluten reduced (see pic).
No trip to San Diego is official until you’ve gone to Stone; and the fact that there is a new and convenient tasting room is the cherry on top! Tucked away but outfitted with comfy couches and fire pits makes this a hidden gem. The tap selection runs the whole gambit for your pallet, make sure you try out all the small batch offerings.
Awesome beer selection and cool merch! They have a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy a beer or hard seltzer. It’s a chain and there are a few throughout San Diego.
Stone Brewing is a staple of the American and of course, California brewing culture. It’s been many years since I’ve had any of their brews. Luckily, it was a short walk from our hotel, and we stopped by after getting situated in our room post-arrival in San Diego. Upon entry, we were greeted warmly by taproom workers. My wife and I were highly impressed by hospitality and the beer quality. This may just be a satellite location but it leaves a good impression of the Stone brand.

Lowkey, hidden masterful Tap Room. Phenomenal IPA's with a very very (double very) friendly, knowledgeable staff. Loved every minute of it!
This place has absolutely amazing staff. I usually am not the type to leave reviews bc I don’t have time for it, but they were so great I felt that I should. They were friendly and helpful when recommending a beer for me. I am a big fan of this brewery in general, but will definitely be back because of the staff :)

Amazing locally brewed beer with extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The hazy ipa is a gem.

Visiting from VA. I appreciate Stone brewing and their beer. But the front of house at the Kentner tap room does not invite charitable feelings. He asked me,” open a tab or close it out”. My response was, “ first, is there a food truck or do you have any pretzels on the menu?” he responded that the prepackaged snacks were all they had. He then says, back to my earlier question. I told him I would close out my tab then. As he’s ringing me up, he says, loud enough for me to hear,” people should listen the first time.” to which I responded,” whether I open the tab or closed out, was dependent on his answer to my question”. Seemed rude to me and maybe he realized since he tapped “no tip” when I paid.
