Opinions de Pista House San Diego
I was impressed to see them launching the Potlam Biryani, especially with their commitment to sustainability. It comes beautifully packed in a biodegradable leaf, which doesn't just look great—it actually infuses the rice with a subtle, earthy aroma that plastic containers just can’t match. The chicken pieces were juicy and well-marinated that were just falling off the bone, making it so easy to eat without any fuss. The Potlam spice blend is bold and fiery, but the natural leaf packaging keeps the moisture locked in perfectly. A 5-star experience for both the palate and the planet!
I recently tried the vegetarian food at Pista House and had a really good experience. The veg dishes were flavorful and well cooked. I especially liked the paneer curry and vegetable biryani—the spices were balanced and the aroma was amazing. The portion size was generous and the food tasted fresh. The restaurant has a casual and comfortable atmosphere, making it a nice place to enjoy Indian food with friends or family. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. Overall, the veg food was satisfying and authentic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian vegetarian cuisine. Rating: 4/5. And it was very good service and good response from front staff (Badri) he helped me a lot in deciding the dishes
Tried their keema biryani. It was fresh and tasty. Naans are good as well. Ask staff for recommendations.
The food was good. I need to try more of the menu, but would recommend. Good portions and quality for takeout. Overall, a solid choice for Indian food in Mira Mesa.
Must-try Keema Biryani! Pista House San Diego serves an excellent Keema Biryani — flavorful, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. Juicy minced meat and fluffy rice come together beautifully. Highly recommended!
First Love. First time listening to A.R. Rahman. First time watching Sachin bat. First time reading Tolkien. Some experiences leave an imprint on your soul — unforgettable moments that become a part of who you are. Butta Biryani is one of those for me. I still remember the first time I had it — just a month ago. It was an accidental order, but the moment I took that first bite, I knew something was different. I ordered it again the next day… and the day after that. Perfectly spiced. Each grain infused with flavor. The meat cooked just right — tender, rich, and aromatic. This isn’t just food. It’s a feeling. It’s nostalgia. It’s home on a plate. Butta Biryani — your soul deserves it. Try it once. You’ll thank me later.
My husband recommended we go here and I loved it! The portions are good and the food is quite tasty. I would say that the chicken tikka is sweeter than others i tried, but I was still full and happy! Bonus points for being halal 🤍 Updated the picture from my most recent visit (:
I recently tried Pista House in San Diego, and it was fantastic! The ambience was lovely, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Their biryanis are spicy and flavorful, with a wide variety to choose from. My favorites were the Natukodi Biryani and the Amaravathi Paneer Biryani. If you're in San Diego and craving biryani, this is the place to go!
I'm thrilled to share my outstanding experience with Pista House, a true gem in the world of Indian cuisine! Their impressive food selection, exceptional quality, and remarkable catering services have left me in awe. The Aloo Gobhi is a masterpiece, with perfectly cooked cauliflower and potatoes in a rich, flavorful sauce. The Malai Kofta is a creamy delight, with tender dumplings that melt in your mouth. The Amravati Chicken Biryani is a game-changer, with aromatic spices and juicy chicken that will leave you craving for more. The Fried Rice and Noodle dishes are equally impressive, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. And the Chicken dishes? Absolutely divine! But what truly sets Pista House apart is their exceptional catering service. I recently used their services for a housewarming party, and they exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was delivered promptly, and the presentation was stunning. The staff was courteous and professional, ensuring that everything was perfect. My guests were raving about the food, and I was beaming with pride. In conclusion, Pista House is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves Indian cuisine. Their food is exceptional, and their catering services are top-notch. Don't miss out on this culinary delight!

This is a classic biryani place that you cannot go wrong with their food. Thier food is amazing I always go back there to Pista house. Definitely a go for sure.
We visited Pista House and the food was really satisfying. My husband absolutely loves their haleem and honestly, this is one of the best haleems in San Diego — rich, slow-cooked, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The taste feels authentic and comforting, portions are generous, and it’s a great spot if you’re craving Hyderabadi-style food. Definitely a place we keep coming back to, especially for the haleem. Highly recommend!
I went to Pista House recently, and wow — the food was absolutely amazing! I honestly haven’t had such good Indian food anywhere in San Diego before. Every single dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and tasted so authentic. The Gongura flavored dishes, Mutton Sheekh Kebab, Ulavacharu flavored biryani, and Goat Keema Biryani were all exceptional. The goat keema was so tender and juicy, and for a South Indian who misses those distinct regional flavors, it truly reminded me of home. They even offer Goli Soda, which instantly took me back to my childhood — such a fun and nostalgic touch! For anyone who enjoys flavorful food with a mild spice level, I’d definitely recommend trying the Amaravathi flavored biryani — it’s absolutely delicious. The service was super friendly, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. If you love Indian food (or even if you think you’ve tried it all), you have to check this place out. I’m already planning my next visit!
Hands down the best Indian food in San diego. Authentic and the flavor boy the flavor. The chicken lollipop took me back to my childhood. The biryani tastes like home. Thanks to the team! I will try everything on their menu. 😋
Never ate Indian food growing up. Asked for recommendations and got Nizam Chicken Biriyani and garlic naan. Cashier made sure to ask my spice tolerance as he was making recommendations. Food was fire 🔥 perfect spice level and restaurant is neat and clean. Recommend for sure
We ordered catering from Pista House for my daughter’s birthday, and everyone loved it! Our guests were a mix of Indian, Asian, and American, so we requested less spicy food — and it was just perfect. The dishes were mildly spiced yet full of flavor. A big thank you to Suneetha and team for making everything so easy. Delivery was on time, the food was hot, and they even suggested smaller tray sizes to help us order just the right amount — really appreciated that! Highly recommend Pista House for tasty food and great service!
Today for lunch we order thalapakatti family combo from Pista house. It was delicious, perfect spice level, not greasy and most of all tasted more like home cooked. we all loved your Briyani including kids. It tasted authentic, can’t wait to try all the biryani varieties from pista house😍

Paneer biryani was pretty good and hospitality was commendable. My friends tried Goat bum biryani and they really liked it. Best Indian food we had in San diego. Comparatively Charminar was mid
Knocked off my feet so good. We ordered the Lamb Fry - very tender and delicious. We also order the Andhra Fish Pulusu - more tomatoee but equally delicious. Awesome 😎
We had mutton biryani family pack which came along with 2 appetizers chicken 65 and chicken tandoor kabab, everything was finger licking good. The staff were friendly. Atmosphere is pretty simple, it's a small place with 8 tables..

First time visiting Pista House. I really enjoyed the cheese naan and the chicken pieces in the butter chicken; both were flavorful and cooked well. However, the butter chicken sauce itself was a bit too salty for my taste. On the plus side, I appreciated that rice came with the meal, unlike other Indian cafés in the area where it’s an extra charge to get rice with your meal. My hostess was very nice, she showed me where the spoons etc were and on my way out she gave me a bag for my leftover meals without me even asking. Overall, it was a good experience. It made me feel that there can be good customer service. 4 stars for the wonderful customer service.
We tried Pottlam Biryani (prawns), Mutton Haleem and Mango Lassi. Pottlam biryani is an absolute lit 🔥. It may be too spicy for few. We loved it though. Haleem is not up to par. We had high expectations on Pistahouse Haleem and it’s avg.

Unfortunately, indeed for anyone who moved to SD from the MidWest in the U.S., it's true, SD has just awfull Indian restaurants. After searching a lot in reddit and Google, seemed like this was a good place, worth a try. But, again, just fake reviews or by people without any authentic taste for good indian food. - The Chicken Lollipop we got was sooo freaking spicy, even though we have good indian-level spice tolerance, these guys are just adding spice with no sense. Felt like the chef's have themselves never tasted the food they are cooking. And, the chicken lollipop quality was miserable. - The lamb Biriyani we got was like chunks of rice sticking together, very unprofessional, almost blank taste, felt like the rice in the biriyani masala that they made in the morning they just kept in the microwave and reheated, and gave us with some lamb meat mixed. Believe me, the first time I cooked lamb biriyani watching YouTube videos was 100x better than this, seriously, no clue what the chef here is doing, almost zero quality control. It's soo sad, the Indian Food in San Diego is absolutely pathetic.

I purchased Haleem from this establishment for a party. I asked for a tray for 10 people. Upon collection, I was surprised by the small size of the tray. It appears inadequate for even four individuals, let alone ten. Cant believe this cost $70!
Decided to dine-in instead of take out. Ordered Hyderabadi goat dum biryani. But received fried pieces (literally 6 boned pieces) with flavored rice. 90% of the box is filled with rice. Not worth for $44.
I usually order the regular Amaravati biryani and have enjoyed it most of the time. However, yesterday we ordered the Amaravati Paneer Biryani, and it was very disappointing. The rice was dry with very little masala and almost no flavour , and the paneer was burnt. Overall, it was not at all good and didn't meet the usual quality I expect.
