3rd stop is Protector brewing, just on the other side of Setting Sun, and have to say all beers and seltzers were good! Staff was friendly and the brewery was cozy! A must visit!
What's great about Protector Brewery? It's not just their awesome logo, that feels like you're onset of the movie 300, or the open space allowing you to get up close to their equipment... it's the fact that they are San Diego's first and only FDA approved organic beer. I truly didn't know it was a thing, but after chatting with the staff, I soon discovered all their vendors, partners and even cleaning supplies are carefully selected and certified organic. Better yet, they are back open for business at their Brewery! The founder is a veteran and the brand gives back to various nonprofit causes. Pop in and learn what Protector Beer is all about. Taste their award winning Citra DIPA or my personal favorite the Juice! Word is they're coming to a Costco near you😉. Psssttt I think that's a secret... don't tell anyone.
I cannot emphasize how great this brewery is. Fantastic staff and beer. I wasn’t an IPA fan but their IPAs are delicious and their ingredients are the definition of quality. Swing by and grab a brew from this veteran owned business!
This was the first place we came on our little San DIego trip in the middle of November and we knew it was going to be a little different than from previous Diego trips. It was so nice of the server at this brewery to basically lay down all the rules and expectations that we would have given the covid restrictions. He was very attentive and accommodating to us. We got some beers and sat outside. Everyone sat at least 6 feet apart. We used disposable cups so that was cool. The beer was tasty and organic! It was a cool brewery vibe.

Why have I never heard of this place? Delicious beer, nice little spot. I try to keep up with breweries opening and I have heard zero about this place that opened over 2 years ago... why?!?!

Excellent IPA’s, particularly hazy. Feels like a hidden gem. Also felt incredibly welcomed as a LGBT BIPOC. Super friendly beertender and cool establishment as veteran owned and operated. Glad we found this place! The center also has a ginger beer brewery, cookie company, a salsa joint and a few other local gems. 10/10
Protector Brewery has some GREAT tasting beer - crisp, clean, simple yet super flavorful with a solid kick, and the atmosphere of the brewery is on point as well. I'm not surprised by the quality of the product as the team creating and serving it is quite amazing. I can't wait for this beer to one day be available on the east coast!
This watering hole is the best. Awesome people, especially behind the bar and fantastic atmosphere. Veteran owned so a big plus. Small operation but big on quality. Ted (co-founder) is a great front face of the company.

Love this brewery! The ambiance, the service, the staff! Everyone was so kind and helpful. Will be coming back. My new favorite spot in downtown on the water. The pizzas are great and the beer is the best!!
Another amazing event is in the books for VBC. Thank you so much to the team at Protector for supporting the Veteran community and hosting our 9th Anniversary event. The team professionally planned and executed our event for 200 plus guests without a hitch! We look forward to continuing our relationship with your brand and planning future events!

I came with friends for some afternoon bevy’s and had an amazing time!! My friends all like beer but I unfortunately hate beer. Thankfully they had a couple cocktails on the menu and let me try all of them! They were all great - especially the Peach Mojito! Such a fun vibe, great location and the owner is amazing and super nice! Highly recommend!!
Came with a few friends early on a Friday night. Staff was incredible and very knowledgeable!! Great atmosphere near the water. Everyone I met was friendly and welcoming. I will be returning!

We bought our first beer from protector in Costco because of their awesome logo and fell in love, so we decided to visit the brewery, which did not disappoint at all! The staff is super friendly, she recommended us the warfighter which is also very juicy and aromatic. Must come if you’re a IPA fan!
This is one of the best breweries in San Diego. I bring my buddies from the ship over here on the weekends to relax from brutal work days. The beertenders is always friendly and great conversationalists. One time they opened earlier than usual for me. I was shocked and honored that they would do that for me.

Creative. Mostly IPAs. Small, niche selection. Rolling wall door leaves tasting room open to the outdoors, so bring a coat.
