Opinions de Siamo Napoli San Diego
I had one of the most memorable solo dinners at Siamo Napoli tonight, and it was flawless from start to finish. Seated at the bar in front of the wood-fired oven, I watched the flames flicker while enjoying a beautiful glass of red — already transported to Naples before the first bite arrived. The pappardelle with ragù was outstanding. The pasta was perfectly al dente — wide ribbons that held the rich, slow-simmered sauce beautifully. Every bite had depth, warmth, and balance. It tasted like something that had been tended patiently, not rushed. Comforting, bold, and elegant at the same time. The atmosphere is lively but intimate — ideal for a solo diner. I came in a little flustered from my evening, and left completely restored. Authentic Neapolitan food, genuine hospitality, and an experience that feels special without being pretentious. È buonissima. Complimenti allo chef.
Very nice experience, staff were very kind and helpful food was delicious. We tried pizza but they offer interesting pastas: Atmosphere was pleasant and people around were very kind. Definitely would recommend and come here again.
Great experience really friendly staff. They had gluten-free gnocchi as well as penne cooked in a separate area to eliminate cross contamination! My girlfriend is celiac, and she did not have a tummy ache afterwards, which is A+
Wow. What an amazing experience. We came here for my mom’s birthday and we couldn’t ask for anything better. Flavio and Giovanni the owners are so hospitable, you feel like family here. Food was amazing - we split a pizza vegeteriana, I had the lasagna, mom had the salmon, sister had pasta with shrimp - all SUPERB. You must come here for the best Italian food and even better vibes. PS They validate your parking, I guess there’s a lot/garage behind the restaurant. Just ask them.
As an Italian American who travels to their ancestral villages in Southern Italy often, I don’t say this lightly: Siamo Napoli is the real deal. I’m usually more inclined to cook Italian food at home because it’s hard to find restaurants that truly compare to what I grew up with and what I experience in Italy but this place absolutely delivers. The Neapolitan pizza is perfection: beautifully blistered crust, balanced toppings, and that unmistakable Naples-style texture and flavor. The gnocchi special the evening we visited, served with sausage, fennel, and truffle oil, was nothing short of magnificent: pillowy, rich, and deeply satisfying without being heavy. And the arugula salad stood out as our starter—super fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. What truly sets Siamo Napoli apart, though, is the hospitality. Flavio personally checks in on guests to see how their meal is, which is a rarity in a busy restaurant and speaks volumes about the care and pride behind their food. This is Neapolitan hospitality at its finest. Everything tasted incredibly authentic, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. You can feel the respect for tradition in every dish. We had been meaning to visit for a while, and I’m so glad we finally did—Siamo Napoli has officially earned a place in our regular rotation. If you’re looking for truly authentic Southern Italian food, this is it. 🇮🇹
Siamo Napoli delivers a lively Italian dining experience with a strong focus on authentic Neapolitan flavors. The pizza is the clear highlight—perfectly blistered crust, fresh ingredients, and well-balanced flavors that feel true to Naples. The pasta dishes are satisfying and generously portioned, though some selections stand out more than others. The atmosphere is energetic and bustling, making it a great spot for a casual night out with friends. Service can be a bit rushed during peak hours, but the staff remains friendly and attentive overall. A solid choice in San Diego for quality Italian food, especially if you’re craving excellent pizza.
Admittedly, I’ve got a buzz — From the drinks, yes… but more so : the food, the vibe, the attention to detail, and the on-point and entirely authentic (and nostalgic) pizza I just ate..and will eat (demaaand to eat) every time I’m in San Diego from this day forward, forever and ever, Amen. If it sounds like I just got married, I did. And so did my partner and my bernedoodle who were equally welcomed, fell in-love, and are now forever-fans. (We had the pizza margherita and pizza sofia—and maybe 2x kettle sodas and 2x Italian lagers (our dog is sober) The waitstaff and food will not disappoint. And I’m a snob. Sorry no pics of the food, we ate it fast. Go there.
Our waiter was very nice. We could also customize any drinks to our tastes. The atmosphere reminded me of my trip to Western Europe. The pizza is undescribable, fantastic, or whatever you want to call it. The pizza was yum. Very yum. This is definitely not my last time going there. 🙂
It feels authentic Italian from the moment you step inside. The owners welcome with his thick accent is awesome. Decorated with pix of Napoli to give you and idea of where they are from just adds to the atmosphere. And the food! Just beyond good. Desert as well. Best Cannolis I have had since my childhood friend's mom (from Sicily) made them. A must try. You'll be coming back.
Good italian spot in North Park. Parking was hard as expected but the restaurant was delicious. We ordered the Burratina for the antipasti and it was refreshing; delicious and light! Our mains we ordered the vegetarian pizza and the papperdelle lamb ragu. Both were delicious, the pizza dough was so delicious, not too thick or thin, and the vegetables were nicely roasted. The lamb pasta was flavorful and the lamb was tender. I would order the lamb pasta again. The seating was nice indoors, didn't look like they had much of outside seating. Our waiter was nice and attentive, service was good, food didn't take too long. We made a reservation, and the restaurant was filled by 6/7pm on a weekend so I recommend a reservation.
Update 09/05/25: Happy hour is amazing. We gota few Aperol Spritz and the $10 pizza, calamari, arancini...such a great value. Then we had the pistachio cheesecake which is my top favorite dessert from Siamo...better than cheesecake factory as it is not dense and overly rich. No wonder they are a Michelin guided restaurant. Update 10/18/23: We finally got back from Italy and we tried several other local Italian restaurants in San Diego in the last few weeks {Truffle, Alexanders, La Pastaia, Al Dente, Cucina Caprese) and Siamo Napoli is far the best Italian restaurant we had. We were very excited to go to Italy and try some amazing food that we've seen on TikTok and Youtube. Surprise surprise...we both thought Siamo's dishes are far better. The aperol spritz was something new we tried in Italy...thoroughly enjoyed this refreshing drink and Siamo offers the same drink. Aside from great food, their staff are very attentive. And of course the owners are very friendly. Past review: If you haven't been here, you're missing out on one of the best Italian restaurants in SD . Surprisingly located in NP and not in Little Italy .We've been here several times and the food is always excellent. The specials - pork shank was so tender that it falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The other specials - black ink spaghetti is one of my favorites. A variety of seafood is packed into it. My bf favorite dish is the gnocchi. He said it's the best he ever had in his life. And their Naples style Pizza are always delicious. There's something special about their pizza dough. There's too many good dishes to list out in this review. The only negative feedback I've heard from our friends is that the cannenoli needed more beef and less cheese. And make room for dessert. Their Nutella cheesecake, Lemoncello, tiramisu are outstanding. Reservations is recommended as they very busy during Friday and Saturday nights.
If you want authentic Italian food, this is the right price. It really feels like to be in Naples and you have actual Italians working in the restaurant too. The food and the atmosphere were both wonderful. Our favourite were the mixed grilled seafood and the squid ink pasta. Highly recommended it!
SiAmo Napoli makes you feel like you’re in an Italian restaurant in Naples! Owners Flavio and Giovanni Piromallo are welcoming, and ensure outstanding service and a wonderful experience! I have come back many times, and have been delighted each time! SiAmo Napoli is a Michelin Guide restaurant that features special selections from Italian Chef Alfonso of traditional food from Napoli, including homemade pastas, and daily specials! Flavio can handmake personal-favorite, off-menu Italian cuisine on request (tip: ask for Grigliata di pesce – grilled seafood platter, Osso Buco – tender and flavorful, Lobster ravioli in pink sauce, or Fettuccini alfredo with scallops and shrimp). Superb! Very delicious Lasagna, Fettuccine Carbonara, Gnocchi, Cioppino di Positano – salmon, scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari in a light tomato broth, Salmone allo Zafferano – fresh salmon filet, Spigola dello Chef – very light fresh Branzino/Sea Bass, Pappardelle con il Ragù d’Agnello – flavorful, Cabernet-infused pasta with mild, slow-braised lamb, and Bistecca. SiAmo Napoli specializes in scrumptious Neapolitan Pizza and Calzone from their wood-fired oven, such as Margherita, spicy Piccante, and Contadina with homemade fennel sausage. Antipasti are all tasty, especially Calamari Fritti – cooked perfectly, Carciofi Saltati – Artichokes, and Arucola – citrus salad. Fresh Italian bread, and a nice selection of wines. Refreshing traditional Aperol spritz, Limoncello, Port, coffee drinks, and non-alcoholic cocktails, such as: passionfruit, lime, mint, and soda. Very delicious homemade desserts, including: Tiramisu, Cannoli, Nutella Cheesecake, Pistacchio Cheesecake, Limoncello Cake, and Tartufo – Hazelnut and Chocolate Gelato! Inside and outside seating. Friendly, attentive staff and service! Delightful! Their motto is well-chosen: “Come as guests, leave as family.”
I love Cioppino and a friend recommended that I check it out at Siamo Napoli. This is an authentic Italian restaurant with nice, simple but pleasant, cozy ambiance. Cioppino was really good: good amount of seafood, cooked well, delicious. I would like to come back for other dishes as well.
Whether a date night or celebration, when you come here, you are part of the family. We enjoyed a weeknight family dinner to celebrate a long overdue visit. This charming gem took us back to memories of dining in Italy. The indoor space is adorned with lemon and green garland in such a way that you feel like you're in the beautiful outdoors. Service was excellent with attentive servers, providing thoughtful recommendations, not to mention incredible memory (to recite the 5 specials in detail). The ravioli with eggplant was a large portion. It was so delicious I gobbled it all up! It's encouraged me to continue to explore more eggplant dishes. The server surprised our family of 6 with some sweet treats. The Nutella Cheesecake and Limoncello Cake were divine! Note, well marked multiple veg/vegan options.
Our waiter warned us that they had the best pizza and the area and he truly was not lying. I’ll be thinking about the Sofia pizza for the while because it was absolutely incredible. The dough and cheese were unbelievable. We also ordered the lamb ragu pappardelle pasta which was perfectly cooked. The flavors went really well together and the lamb was super tender. The mushroom and pancetta was good, I think I would’ve preferred more pancetta in the dish though.
I had an excellent experience at the restaurant tonight. I enjoyed the ossobuco, while others had salmon, pasta, and cioppino—all of which were excellent. I’d rate the food five stars, the service a five-plus, and the ambiance a 3.5. Special shout out to Flavio—his mother should know he’s a true star at his work. We want to thank him for his exceptional service and kindness. If you’re in the San Diego area, this place is a must-visit. You won’t regret it; it’s an experience you should definitely enjoy. Just return from tasting food in the Tuscany region, this is best Italian food this side of Tuscany
The food is okay and is presented really well, but pastas and pizzas don't really stand out in terms of flavor/taste. Mgmt and wait staff are friendly and professional, but they don't need to check on us so often.
I think this place paid to be on the Michelin guide app because it’s not worth the visit. The host guy / owner? Always looks annoyed and seats people next to each other when there’s plenty of empty tables. Food is a total let down. Bread is store bought. Arugula salad looked sad and wilted, pasta sauces are unseasoned, pastas not al dente, the fish we got was so under seasoned and drowning in watered down Campbell tomato soup. I had forgot that we had been here before. I didn’t recall until I tasted the bland watered down sauce. I should have walked out. This place is trash. 0/10
I’m not sure if my visit was a one off but it was horrible. first off, the staff showed preferential treatment to others and was dismissive to our table. second the food was not good. the pastas were all watery and the risotto was literally boiled rice covered in sauce. i will not be coming back and do not recommend siamo.
I don't usually put on reviews here but this place was not it. Our family of 9 came in for our niece's pre- birthday celebration and we felt like we were being rushed from the get go. The person taking our order was not noting our order and had to come back to our table to ask again to clarify our order. Food started coming in and as we were eating on those small plates, they came and started changing our plates to big plates. They grabbed my dad's plate even though there was still food and not even asked before grabbing it. We were waiting for the salmon that we ordered and once it was served they were already asking if we wanted to box our other food. We commented on the guy that we felt like we were being rushed and he just laughed. We can see how they served other tables and it was plain to see how they treated us differently. Food looked good but almost everything was salty. My sister was excited she was able to book a reservation but we never expected we would have this kind of experience. I don't know if it's because it's a Friday and there's a lot of people but we didn't enjoy our time here. *I was writing this as we were still seated. They might've seen me writing and came out with 2 slices of free cake.
