The Halal Shack

I’ve come here the past three days and every single time it hits. The girl in the front always has a smile and makes sure my bowl is always looking right. Cashier is always positive and tells me to have a nice day and makes me enjoy my meal even more.

I've been coming here for the past year or so every time I come to SDSU. The staff is super friendly and even remembered my order (because I order the same thing all the time lol). This is and has been my go-to place as someone who is looking for a healthy and affordable meal. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

I'm a regular customer on my college campus (SDSU) and the food is great. The staff are always friendly and move efficiently which is nice considering the long lines :) A well balanced healthy meal for a good price!

Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They prepare food very quickly and efficiently, and the food always stays fresh and you can taste it! Great source of protein and an overall filling and healthy option for everyone.

Overall, I really like this place as it has some of the best toppings that you could have like chicken, kale and quinoa, hummus, and onions. Also I really like the sauces like the hot white sauce.

I've made this place part of my daily routine. It's my favorite restaurant BY FAR at SDSU. I'm vegetarian, and an employee recommended that I try the Chickpea Korma. It was so good, that now I get it every day!

I go to the halal shack usually 1-2 times a week and the service is so great! They communicate so well and the food is super good. I talked to Angel once when I went to halal shack and expressed how much I like halal shack! I totally recommend going if you haven’t tried:)

Finally got a chance to check out the first halal restaurant at SDSU and it was everything I expected it to be. Loved all the meat options they had along with the different sauces. Every time I go in, I can switch the meat options around and add new sauces and it tastes great every time with out my taste buds feeling mundane. I can either get it in a bowl or in a wrap. I prefer the bowl because they are very generous with their portions and I always have some left for dinner. As someone who only eats halal, it feels great to finally have a delicious alternative to always eating seafood or vegetarian while on campus. Thank you!! You have a repeat customer for life...or at least until I graduate. ;)

Loved the food, and especailly loved the staff. The day was slow so some guy named Elvin asked me how my day was and we got in a full conversation. Cool people behind the counter.

Pricing is pretty good for what you get serving size wise. It's middle eastern food but fast food service style. If you go there expecting a full on restaurant style then you should reconsider getting a quick bite to eat on campus. Overall like good experience and will continue coming back. My only gripe is that when you order pita its not hot but now I know for next time, not a big deal.

This breakfast bowl has eggs, fries, black beans, cucumber, tomato, cheese, and jalapeño all covered in delicious buffalo sauce. I’m not sure what it’s called because it is a new bowl they want to add to the menu, but it was so good!!! So I recommend getting it because it has everything you could ask for to satisfy your hunger in the morning. It has lots of healthy toppings which helps it not be a super heavy meal so it’s delicious!!

Food was absolutely amazing, especially since it’s a it’s Halal it doesn’t have any stench to it… very clean and good.

In a world of darkness, pain, and misery the Shack is my refuge. My life hangs off of Halal Shack like the Shawarma hangs on the rotating stick. To say the least, the atmosphere is extraordinarily comforting. The perfectly simple basmati rice is delectably seasoned, and perfectly complements your choice of protein. The sauce and sumac finishers bring it all together into a perfect equilibrium, much like God's perfectly chaotic universe. The whole experience, the buildup as you wait in line, the experimentation with different ingredients, the final hurrah as the flavors overwhelm your mouth, it is a near sexual experience. The staff are experts, guides in this incredible experience. They are the deliverers of my holy communion, priests ordained by the highest authority. We are not worthy of Halal Shack, yet the Shack does not judge, it invites those of all backgrounds. The shack dwells in Babylon; Panda Express, Rubios, Subway, Shakesmart, Baba's Pizza, and Jamal's Chicken tempt those who have not been Enlighted. Yet others and myself have seen through their lies, hacked through the jungle that blocks our path to destiny. Halal Shake, thank you with all my heart.

It's about the price gouging move towards the already in debt students by Halal Shak as a company. They were my go to place given the generally healthier option of food choices at a similar price points. However, starting this year they have reduced the portion of food, by introducing new bowls, and have INCREASED the price! As a student who just wants to get a decent meal, it is infuriating to see companies put profits margins rather than serve their students. So I just wanted to put this information for any new students who might be misled by their old photo and price points.
