08/21/2022 about 9:30pm: 10 stars! This is the Der Weinerschnitzel of my childhood. Excellent customer service. My order was perfect. Kraut dogs were hot, perfect mustard, good amount of kraut on a steamed bun. Chili fries without cheese were a bit salty but delicious. The girl who made my shake wiped off the cup and even put it in a secondary cup to keep my hands clean. She did so without me asking. When I am in my car, in a drive through, I really appreciate this courtesy. They have a sink, napkins, wash cloth etc., I do not. Thank you so much!!!! 2018: 1 star - Minimal kraut on a cold hard bun. Not steamed. Hot dog was cold too.

This is some cheap, delicious food. The place may not look that great from the outside since it's really small, but the sour crout hot dogs and the different styles of fries more than make up for the atmosphere. I would recommend the drive thru.

I had to ask about the Sea Dog. Fish on a hot dog bun. Then it got even better. They asked if I wanted that on the pretzel bun. Heck yeah! So good especially with the little bits of sea salt in every bite! And cannot get enough of their tartar sauce. It was truly enjoyable!

I can't say enough about this establishment. From drive-through service, counter,  wait staff and Maitre, cashier, all were on point!  This was my 1st experience with German food and the wait staff was very patient in explaining to me all the different choices and options.  We were seated with a wonderful ( Or should I say wunderbar?) view of  "The Boulevard"  which I could only be described as the San Diego equivalent of Paris's Champs-Elysees.   As this was a special occasion, my partner and I celebrating our 25th anniversary, we decided to splurge.  We began our culinary journey with a vorspeise (appetizers)  of  bacon and  ranch chili cheese fries, a signature dish of the chef.  We took our waiter's suggestion of pairing it with the soda de maison, a bright and bubbly waxed paper cup of Root Beer.  I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed that there was no amuse bouche offered to compliment the meal.  Moving on to the main course, my partner and I sampled the corn and chili cheese dog.  The corn dog was amusing with a light brown crunchy crust and had a good "mouth feel".  We were so excited to samole the chili cheese dog and found the chili to be delicious and not too spicy with a  texture that was both creamy and chunky at the same time. The bun was steamed to perfection however I felt the cheese to be lacking with a slight processed cheese aftertaste.  We completed our meal with the suggested   traditional German dessert, the A & W Root Beer Float.  I highly recommend this quaint hidden gem located on San Diego's world famous "Boulevard", otherwise known as ECB or historic old highway 80  In the bedroom community of City Heights.   Many thanks to the hard working staff of Weinerschnitzel for  a culinary experience that can only be described as wunderbar! On a final note, don't be intimidated by  the complexity of the menu. there is no need to learn German or bring your German guidebook as the staff. All speak impeccable English.

Just the same tasting hotdogs either you love them or not. I do, grew up coming and now most are closed. So enjoy this one while its here. They are already selling the chili sauce separately, possibly means they are going to be closing soon and sell the sauce in grocery stores

The wait! Whether there's a line or not? I only order Chilli cheese fries - each time the amount of Chilli and cheese is different? There's just not enough Weinerschnichels around to be picky at this point.

if you're craving Fast Food, wienerschnitzel is awesome. The all-beef dog anyway you want it. I get mine with mustard and onions. They have so many other choices and it's very satisfying.

Delicious chili cheese dogs every time, but the prices are not cheap anymore. My 5 chili cheese dogs went from like 1.25 each to 2.95 each. It's not a 5 for 5 anymore. 😔

We all love the all beef hotdogs. ..sooo delish after a day at the beach or park... quick and easy.... you can sit in the car or enjoy sitting outdoors... clean, fresh. We've noticed all the Wienerschnitzel's are good, fresh & delish...

Has gotten a little more expensive but service was great. Cashier really listened and took care of me. Management not so mice to employee that day.

All in all great cheap dogs, burgers and sides special running a free order of jalapeno poppers if you order online. Cha ching. Cheeseburger was really messy, had to shower after eating

Generally busy, normally something popping off in the hood. Do not go around 2-3 because Hoover Highschool let's out and it is busy. After 5 is generally good. Always a good idea to double check your order.

I stopped in yesterday for a bite to eat and the guy taking the order was excellent you could hear and understand him very curdious and polite. He made sure the order was correct before pulling forward to pay . Awesome job

The W. is overlooked. Are you a fast food french fry lover? At times, I also get the urge. At the W., fries are always made fresh and stay hot until you finish. McDee's cannot even compete! All hot dogs are flat grilled to order. The menu has a variety of hot dog creations that can please most palettes. I usually get the chili cheese dog with cheddar and grilled onions. The W. can cure the hot dog craving for at least a year. Pork and beef choices. Kids menu. Ice cream. Burgers and chili cheese fries.

It's was a blast from the past. We don't have any of these old style buildings any longer.

Everything was fine . Until I open the bag with goods . I ordered 10 corn dogs and that's was only 9 webareva family of . Meaning someone has to eat only 1 corn dog. 😒

The automated service was terrible...the human/employee service was x100 worse. I made simple orders and asked 1 or 2 simple questions to whoever was taking my rider and they were acting like I beefed in their eye first thing in the morning. Not only that but whoever handed me my food wouldn't respond to "is that everything?" Twice over and just stated at me. It's fast food so it's never gonna be astonishing but even under those standards it was horribly assembled...and these r chili dogs, so idk how u can make em look worse than they r

Very good corn dogs. Fast service from friendly employees. Ordered online a Corn Dog and a 6 piece Mini Corn Dogs. I assume the cost of the mini corn dogs being $1.10 more than a regular corn dog is mostly for the novelty, and not that they are supposed to be 1.5x more hotdog and cornbread. The regular and mini corn dogs were equally tasty, especially after adding the yellow mustard. Since I placed the order online, tamper evident seals were placed on my bag. A very good practice, however I was able to carefully remove one and reapply it without any noticeable change. They might want to choose a seal with a more permanent glue.

I love the food but the staff got our order wrong and not just a little 4 out of 7 items were incorrect and when we tried to get our order rectified we were confronted with attitude.

I love chilli dogs. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and we know chilli. The last couple times I have been to Wienerschnitzel, the staff wasn't that pleasant, my orders were wrong and I couldn't believe how expensive it was. We bought 3 double cheeseburgers, 2 chilli dogs with shredded cheese, 3 fries, and one large shake and it came to $41.63. They out everything and I mean everything in one (1) bag so anything on the bottom gets smashed. I do think they have a good Brand but they need to update the menu, lower prices, and pay their employees more money so that they would get better staff. On a side note, I am not for or against pot, and when I order and can definitely smell it, no biggie to me. But the customer after me was holding his very young child when he was ordering and the pot smell made her sneeze and cough. That customer left. There is a time and place for that kind of activity and at work there isn't one of them.

It was good, I enjoyed the Carolina dog with a Polish dog instead of the all beef and upgraded to a pretzel bun. It was just very sloppy. I would get it again but I'll be sure to ask for it neat or deconstructed so I can put it together at home.

The food is delicious if you even get everything you ordered.. my fiance ordered a hot dog with extra Kraut on it. They gave him a hotdog box full of fries instead.. and the attitudes that workers have at this place is ridiculous!!! There's like ONE guy that is always nice but that's about it. this is the only one closest to me and I love wienerschnitzel so I'll continue to come here but I feel like I have to mentally prepare myself everytime

On the evenings the male crew closes it is a pleasure. I am often ordering 15 minutes before closing, which means they are STILL OPEN. I try to be mindful and the guys roll with it and are nice, fast and very professional. The evenings the all women crew works I often find the lights all turned down 20 mins before the midnight closing and grumbles and dirty looks when I still walk up to the window to order. Come on ladies! The food is still well prepared but it's become somewhat of a passive-aggressive thing where I watch the preparations carefully. J/K, but seriously if you are open until midnight, be open! It's $15 more profit, ya know?

The food was good and the service too. I was surprised and a bit disappointed because if you don't ask for utensils they won't give you any. So don't forget or you'll eat chilli fries with your fingers unless you're going home.

Many DW are osing, but since the 70s this location was the go to place for fun and great dogs.. The last two times i have been there the dogs are ok at best. Buns broke down and the wieners were wrinkled amd overcooked.

There prices are outrageous. Chicago dog at other locations is 2.19$. Here 2.89$.Missing celery salt. No hot sauce packets. Medium fry is small compared at other locations. Not enough chili on dog.

Went to this location sign for prices was way off said 21 for 3 chili dog,fries, corndog meal get to window it was 29 plus tax they need to fix adjust prices if going to wait in line to find out and you either pay or just wasted your time and leave.

I drove by to order the wildberry lemonade. I tell the kid at the "This doesn't look like a wild berry lemonade, It looks just like only lemonade." He looks at me nods his head and says "That is wild berry and closes the window"... This kid needs to step up and learn to have better customer service before that is first and only job he will ever have since he only has one arm working.

Ordered chili cheese dogs couldn't see the cheese or the taste of cheese. They sold me more hot dogs than I had ordered. When I question the amount she said she was sorry she thought I had ordered 5 so she added one more to keep cost down? Would make correction but it was late, I was tired and just wanted to get home. Will not be going back.

The new AI thing that takes your order is bad, needs a lot of human guidance still I’d say. But you also only have 2 people working. Just get rid of that AI thing please. She got my order wrong. And then they still charged me for said wrong order. I wasn’t in the mood to argue so I just went along with it. But then the fried in the chili cheese fries were stale and overall bad. Corn dog was also burnt. I’ve never had such a bad experience with such simple food. Probably won’t be going here again.

I specifically asked for chili dogs with NO cheese. I also ordered just chili fries which they also put cheese on. I was excited to try the brisket fries which had a different cheese on them which I spit out immediately on tasting as it tasted rotten. This location - horrible experience!

There menu signs are very misleading. Added onions and cheese. Tripled the price. Very dirty and unkempt. Employees very nice tho. Run far away. Just nasty.

The fries were soggy, the chilli did not have beans or meat and the items where not packed well. I was overcharged my order was supposed to be $4.99 and I was charged $7.92.

Hours say till midnight . Not 11:30, 11:45. But 12am, i go there regularly after work and it’s disappointing when I get told ”no, we’re closed, we still have to clean.” I have worked in fast food before so I get it , yes you have to clean , but that doesn’t mean close early to do so . Why even have the job if you’re aren’t willing to do it properly .

I love Der Weinerschnitzel, but this Christmas Eve I had dinner at the El Cajon Blvd location next to Herbert Hoover High School and I got sick from the food. I have eaten there many times and would usually give a great rating so oh wonderful dog if you can hear me, don't come down too hard on the employees. Thank you.

This place is outside and you have enough stand on the sidewalk... but they still insisted on masks. And the food was not great, make your own hot dogs even better at home for way cheaper

Completely disappointed with my purchase! The corn dog burned to the point where the top didn't have breed and the middle was hard as a rock. The chili cheese dog looks like diarrhea or they spit on it.

I haven’t to been to this weinershnitzel in ages and I wont be going ever again. I mean sheesh, there is a reason that this is the worst rated location in SD upon checking the reviews. So i went there friday night and ordered me some chilli dogs, corn dogs, fries and a couple of drinks. First off, the customer service was dead, like im not expecting much in the first place but even then it was dead. Now when i went home to eat my food the chilli dogs barely had any chilli on it, i was beyond disappointed i mean whats the point if it aint got chilli on the thing. The fries was more stale than a bag of chips left open for a week. I mean….. smh. The corn dogs were decent i cant lie, but the corn dogs was just extra i was really there for the other stuff, so i was still upset. But the real reason im doin a review is because when i was cleaning up today I came across the receipt from the meal and upon closer inspection saw a 3$ extra charge on there under the guise of Miscellaneous (misc) charge, i know the fast food game enough to know that, that right there is a B.S charge and thats basically them stealing money from me. So not only was the quality of the food sub-par and far below average (avg. is really the only correct expectation with fast food anyways) but the employees are legit downbad to the point that they might be jackin customers by inserting hidden fake fees on customers with large orders, so we don’t see it. Nahhh, after this experience and seeing other reviews on here i have to say that this spot is highly shady and aint what it used to be, i urge all customers going here… Buyer Beware and remember to CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS.

I went in today and ordered 8 hotdogs 4 on pretzel and 2 reg chili fries and they forgot 1 of them I have been calling to address it but no one picks up the food was terrible the hot dogs were not fully cooked there was little too no chili and the fries in the one order that I got were old

Now they get full of oil and everything tast like... you guessed it, cooking oil. C-on, get it right people. Keep it simple and make to order. Thank you

This Wienerschnitzel used to be one of the better ones but it isn't anymore! (Maybe new ownership??) I came in and got 2 corn dogs, large fries and a large strawberry lemonade. The corn dogs and fries were so greasy that the grease was coming through the bag! The fries were u salted and the pink lemonade was watery! The customer service was atrocious! Her attitude was like talking to cardboard! Plus I was told it would be $14.86. I paid w my debit card and asked for a receipt and the receipt said $13.46! Hmmmm!!!
