Opinions de Altamirano San Francisco
Incredible food! Beautiful, refined atmosphere!! Stellar service from Eduardo and the rest of the staff! I highly recommend the tuna sashimi, mixed seafood ceviche, the braised pork, the arrow con mariscos and the cherry sandwich for dessert! All phenomenal dishes!
Food, drinks and service here were all spectacular! The food was extremely fresh, cooked to perfection and had incredible flavor. I think my favorite dishes were the salmon ceviche and the chorizo empanadas. The ceviche was so super fresh with a lot of flavor. The empanada dough/crust was incredible, crisp but light and airy; also a nice sized portion since it comes with 2. The cocktails were also a work of art. Definitely try the ‘lady’s night out’ and pisco sours.
Wow, we loved the food flavors, especially their sauces! There isn’t one dish sauce that we didn’t like. The whole fish was delicious but a little dry (probably as we scooped up all the sauce!) so we asked for more and they brought a big bowl - so generous and very accommodating, thank you. What a fun place with great vibes!
An UNBELIEVABLE food experience! Reasonable prices, large portions, delicious food. Eduardo was an amazing server too! Included receipt with food items/names/prices too. The sashimi was amazing and the pesto pasta was maybe best in the city.
Delicious, fresh, and creative food. Attentive staff and nice atmosphere! This was my second time at Altamirano and I'm happy to have had great experiences here both times. Definitely a must try if you live in the Nopa or Haight neighborhoods. The portions are very sizable. We were a party of two and we were stuffed by the end of the meal and took leftovers to go. We enjoyed each course. Each dish had a unique flavor profile, and we enjoyed seeing how each ingredient paired together. The lobster bao tasted like the sea. The mango in the ceviche was a tough of sweetness we didn't expect. The lamb meat fell off the bone effortlessly. The drinks here are also delicious. I had a passionfruit mocktail this time and I can taste clearly the real passionfruit sweet and tangy. Service and ambience are both fantastic. The restaurant decor is nice and contemporary. Overall, I recommend Altamirano for a bit of an elevated dining experience for groups of various sizes. Perfect for date night or a place to take parents to. Be prepared to want to try everything on the menu!
Amazing food! We got the salmon ceviche, Dungeness crab causa, beet salad, corn ribs, lamb shank, and lucuma tiramisu. Everything was delicious, bursting with flavor. The only thing I probably wouldn’t order again was the crab thing - the purple potatoes extruded tableside was cool but there wasn’t enough texture differential between the crab and the potatoes - both were mushy and wet.
This place is popping! We had a large group reservation and had the special brunch menu at the patio! The reservation was seamless and they really took great care of us. The food was amazing and the portions were big. We got to take the leftovers home. The patio was cozy and warm too ;)
Altamirano is a diamond in the rough—stylish, welcoming, and serving incredibly fresh, on-point Peruvian food. The staff knows the menu inside and out, and the cocktails are just as impressive. Whether you’re coming for a full meal or just stopping in for drinks, it’s a rare gem west of Divisadero that feels both refined and relaxed.
Very good place, delicious food and good service! Really liked all the dishes we tried, including ceviche, scallops, crab
Wow! Fresh, inventive flavors from Ceviche to whole fried fish. The lamb Osso Buco was excellent.
Very lovely experience! The menu is diverse and great attention to detail in the plates. Ceviche is delicious just wish it was a little bigger portions, but the rice was sufficient with the entrees
October 2024: Celebrated two birthdays and enjoyed a great dinner. Drink menu was pretty good. Lots of cocktail options. I chose a henhouse beer. We started with the tuna sashimi and the salmon brulee. Both starters were very tasty. The presentation of the sashimi was impressive. Came out from a smoked container. For mains, we shared the fried fish, the paella and the lomo saltado. Everything was super delicious 😋. I'd come back and eat all of these again! For dessert, we shared the churro sandwich and the tiramisu. Enjoyed both desserts! Service was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back again for more delicious food 😋.

Loved our experience. Woke about thinking about the lamb arancini. We loved everything we ordered, and we are excited to revisit to try more of the menu. The service was fantastic—all around great dinner.

This place is out of this world!! Amazing atmosphere and the ceviche is to die for! And let me say the drinks are spot on!

My husband and I had a candlelight concert at the St Ignacio church and wanted to find a great spot to eat first and are SO happy we stumbled upon this restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation but lucked out and were able to sit at the bar. The ambiance, service, drinks and food were absolutely perfect! We were in a rush to get to the show and were worried about timing but were pleased the service was fast as well! He had the Passion fruit pisco sour, I had a glass of wine. We shared 3 plates: the Mixto Ceviche, the Pulpo Anicuchero and the Lomo Saltado. Perfect portions. Cooked to perfection (and we are picky!). The octopus was so tender and the flavors of the beef tenderloin was fantastic. We had a hard time deciding which dish was our favorite. We would highly recommend this spot!
A wonderful experience start to finish. Between 2 people we ordered 2 starters, the yucca plate and scallops, along with the mariscos con arroz as our main. Each dish delicious and thoughtfully balanced. While our dishes were being prepared, they brought out blue corn chips and salsa that was absolutely addicting. The cocktail menu was equally impressive, and we ordered the blue corn pisco and the Peruvian hot toddy. The hot toddy may be my new favorite hot drink. The happy hour menu between 4 to 6 looks equally fantastic. Looking forward to coming back and giving it a try.
Amazing vibes on their back patio. Aqua Americano cocktail was divine. Loved the tuna ceviche, shrimp toast and lomo saltado. Also really enjoyed the corn ribs and noted a number of vegetarian options throughout the menu. Service extremely attentive and kind. Will definitely go back for date night or dinner with friends.
Not sure why people aren’t talking more about this spot! Absolutely loved the food, got the ribeye that was on special, the cocktails paired perfectly well, the ambience was supreme. The wait staff checked in the appropriate amount of time but left my best friend and I to our little cackles. Never felt rushed. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their seafood items the next time around! Definitely a MUST TRY IN SF!!

Absolutely incredible dinner! The food was delicious, the drinks were creative and the service was lovely. Every bite was perfectly seasoned, with sauces that blew my mind and taste buds. Highly recommend!!!

Found this place while looking for a nicer brunch option near Haight-Ashbury, and the ambiance really delivers: modern but cozy design, and the outdoor yard seating was lovely. I can imagine it’s even better in the evening with the lights and bar vibe. Service was friendly and patient throughout, even though there was a bit of a language barrier. Food was mostly very good: fish quality in the classic ceviche was very good, and the leche de tigre was good but could have more complexity and depth. My main gripe is the sweet potato on the ceviche, served in a few chunks instead of a purée, which would elevate the dish (especially at ~$30). The other dishes were strong (eggs Benedict, stewed pork, stir-fried beef with onions and rice). Drinks were forgotten at first and arrived late, and the espresso came lukewarm in a cappuccino cup. Overall, a solid 4 stars, very close to 5 with a bit more attention to the small details.
Good food, nice cocktails, and a great vibe. That said, the food service was very slow. We received the first ceviche after quite a wait, and the second arrived another 15 minutes later. We also had to repeatedly ask for water. I’m not sure if they were understaffed, but it wasn’t particularly busy. At this price point, I would expect better and more attentive service.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this charming Peruvian restaurant. The waiter recommended their Arroz con Mariscos, as we were looking for a sharing plate as our main dish, and it was absolutely delicious, with a rich mix of fresh shrimp, scallops, octopus, and mussels. We started with their Bolitas de Yuca, crispy yuca balls filled with seasoned cheese, as an appetizer. For dessert, we shared their Chicha Brulee, a sweet, caramelized corn pudding served with a hint of cinnamon. We'll definitely be returning very soon to try the other enticing items on the contemporary menu.
Overall good spot with unique food and drinks. Classic city restaurant/bar vibe. Slippery floor though, our table and chairs kept sliding around! Brunch was 3 stars Dinner was 5 stars Chips were super good!

Food was really good and creative. Lovely presentation and the drinks were delicious (both alcoholic and NA). Thai mojito was so refreshing and the halibut ceviche had excellent flavor. Crab bao roll was really good too. Note that if you are afraid of spiders, you may want to sit indoors. If you sit in the courtyard, ask for a table away from the walls! There were a few crawling around our heads at the corner booth. The staff was great and moved us to another table, but unfortunately they followed us there too. Otherwise, I would recommend this place!! The atmosphere was really nice for a girls dinner. FYI that indoors was a bit louder though so it may be harder to talk in there.
