Opinions de Aziza San Francisco
Excellent delicious flavorful food! We had the octopus, cauliflower, lamb and corn bread - 10/10!!! Also super kind staff! Only thing to note: it is very loud. If you’re looking for a quiet place to dine, I’m not sure this would be the place.
High-quality, high-end Moroccan cuisine, with modern California touches that deconstruct but stay true to the core flavors and ingredients of the North African palette. Heritage Chicken, with preserved lemon and olives, is arguably one of the best roast chickens in the city (a tall order!) — perfectly succulent, juicy and ultra-clean tasting. A symphony for the eyes and nose. Grilled Broccolini and Humus with Pita Bread are also great accompaniments.
Came here for a Valentine's dinner and each dish we ordered was delicious! We got the two veggie spreads (piquillo+almond, hummus) with sumac flatbread, two appetizers (cauliflower and the burrata), and the shakshuka and lamb shank. Would highly recommend!!!
During our visit to San Francisco, we made a reservation at Aziza, a restaurant that had garnered positive reviews and buzz. We were not disappointed. The service was exceptional, with our bartender, Jay, beginning our evening by the bar while we awaited our table. His cocktails were outstanding, and he provided recommendations for our meal. Upon our seating, our waiter, Justin, took over, and the service continued to be impeccable. He made further recommendations, and we ultimately ordered the dips with flatbread, eggplant, branzino, short rib, cornbread, and date cake. We were never rushed, and all plates were spaced out. We consistently received new silverware and plates, and most importantly, every dish was delectable. The cornbread is a must-try for anyone visiting. We extend our sincere gratitude to Jay, Justin, and the entire staff for providing an unforgettable dining experience.
We had the pleasure of walking into Aziza for the first time yesterday evening and were seated at the bar. Jay graciously greeted us and made us feel welcomed from the start. The cocktails were the best we have had in quite some time and the atmosphere that he and Brandon created was second to none. Each dish that we tried was delicious and exceeded expectation. Thank you Jay and everyone for making our evening so special. This will be the first of many experiences we have at Aziza!
We had a lovely family dinner here and an amazing experience with the kind and accommodating staff. Justin, the general manager, was so helpful and gave great recommendations for food and drink. The restaurant was packed but we never felt that service was too slow. There was even a power outage in the middle of our meal for the entire neighborhood, but the staff handled it in stride and our dishes continued to come - beautifully plated at that! We ordered the trio of dips (the almond one was particularly good) which came with a well spiced and chewy sumac flatbread, the burrata with carrot ginger dukkah and crusty bread that was divine, the prawns which were perfectly cooked and presented beautifully, and the cauliflower which was a standout as it tasted like an elevated cauliflower Manchurian for our starters. Our mains were the cous cous with winter squash and the cous cous was so fluffy and creamy, as well as the whole grilled fish which was amazing and served with a side salad. We also enjoyed the cornbread and the grilled broccolini as our sides. We were too full for dessert and even had leftovers to go! The drinks - cocktails and wine - were spot on, and I particularly enjoyed the desert dawn which was like an orange espresso martini. Aziza is one of my favorite spots in the city and you can’t miss with a meal here.
The food was excellent, the service was quick, and the overall ambience was nice. The sumac bread was absolutely divine and would recommend to all. Spread were also unique takes on traditional mezze spread and were especially delicious when paired with the sumac bread. We also got the lamb shank and the basteeya, both of which were great. They both have an element of sweetness, the basteeya from the cinnamon and dough and the lamb shank from the fruit spread on the plate. I also really appreciated that they put pine nuts in the tea cups when getting morrocon tea. The only downside to my encounter was that it can be quite cold depending on where you’re sitting in the restaurant.
Exceptional is every way! Every dish we ordered was phenomenal, truly. Not only beautiful presentation, but unique and delicious flavors. Great vibe, friendly staff, and very good mocktail and wine list too. Best dishes included the cauliflower (wow!!) and the cornbread (melt in your mouth good!!)!! Highly recommend!
EVERYTHING!!!! EVERYTHING went well. I was in town and went for a be-lated HBD dinner. I have never tried Moroccan, so this was the first time there. The ambience was warm with a minimalist, earthy setting. The food was delicious! The chicken, bread, appetizers. It was all flavorful. The highlight was the service. Maria was our server. Of course it was a team effort because someone else cleaned our table between meals while someone else served our food. This was not your average service. It was a poetic display of customer service that I have experienced very little of. They were all attentive and made this dinner experience memorable. Not so, much that it could be overbearing. Maria was knowledgeable of the cuisine, the cooking methods, and the Moroccan culture. She engaged just enough and allowed herself to be a part of my dinner experience as if she was also a guest. I am very excited to go back. Definitely will go again. Maria! You can’t quit. 😍
Superb brunch experience, in brief will definitely look forward to dining again and hopefully try dinner. Waitstaff was extremely insightful and genuinely friendly. Made excellent recommendations including the ‘deviled egg’ (which it is not but I don’t have the menu in front of me at the moment!) which was an amazing combination of flavors and textures. The Beghrir pancakes were amazing and very filling, highly recommend an order to share. Excellent cocktails as well.
Aziza was an absolute treat and a unique Moroccan restaurant. The meal started off on a high note with their cornbread served with harissa butter — hands down the best cornbread we have ever had. Perfectly moist with quite a bit of sweetness with just the right kick of spice from the butter. The shakshuka was phenomenal — rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked eggs that made every bite satisfying. The mussels appetizer was another standout, fresh and beautifully seasoned. The basteeya was unique and delicious, like a savory, chicken-stuffed baklava — the flavors were spot on, though it was a touch on the greasy side. The only minor letdowns were the sit-down chairs, which could be more comfortable, but that hardly mattered once the food started arriving. The yuzu custard was a perfect finish to the meal with a unique mix of flavors. The wait for the dishes was noticeable, but absolutely worth it.
Fantastic dinner—everything was wonderful. It was a family and friends gathering, and the food was incredibly flavorful. The spread, fish, and squid were especially outstanding. Thoughtful, seamless service made the evening even more enjoyable. It was easily our best and favorite dining experience in San Francisco so far.
We went to this place on the evening of Valentine’s Day, and it took the staff a little while to get us seated – hence the four stars. But from then on (a huge thank you to Abigail), the evening became entirely about taste. The Rosebud was so vibrant and refreshing. The trio of spreads arrived like a flavor overture, the lebni and the smoked trout roe being delightfully briny and indulgent. The salmon with beets and kumquats was subtle. The grilled whole branzino struck that perfect balance between soft and crisp, its charmoula earthy with just the right kick. The kefta brochette carried a mild, aromatic warmth that lingered pleasantly. And the delicately spiced harissa butter elevated the soft and deliciously dense cornbread into something memorable. Whatever mild annoyance I felt while waiting for our table simply evaporated. The staff are open to explaining dishes before you order, and they’re genuinely lovely while doing so. I don’t usually comment on restrooms 😄, but this one deserves a mention. It’s more like a dimly lit lounge, with live plants, a vintage gilded mirror , and plenty of space to paise and admire the aesthetic. In true San Francisco fashion – a tiny wait, big flavors, and a night that felt deliciously worth the reservation scramble.
Came here for a casual brunch with the family. We ordered the two lattes, Burrata, French toasts, shrimp, and eggs Benedict. The Burrata was exceptional, except it only came with two small pieces of sour dough… I could use double the amount of bread. Everything else was good. No complaints.
They had 4 vegan / vegetarian options for brunch. The food was great and the service was fast. The restaurant was very full even in the morning so recommend prior reservations. Taking one star away because some of the prices we were charged were higher than listed in our menu but later the manager said that they just updated the prices and by mistake they gave us older copy of the menu.
So, the food is very fancy. Things they fry are very good (like the potatoes). The Shakshuka was good and presented very nicely. The pancake is a pancake in name only. It doesn't look, taste, or have the texture of a pancake. It's certainly unique, but is much more rubbery and chewy than a typical pancake. The taste is very honey-ey, which is as advertised. If you like this type of texture and honey, you will probably like it, but do not order it expecting a "pancake". The French toast was also very "fancy-ified", it's extremely thick, and the outside is perfectly crisped, while the inside is soft and creamy. It's too think and soft for my taste, but it's an excellent rendition of what it's trying to do.
After our dinner service at Aziza, we were left with very mixed feelings about the place. Our seating was the high top communal table, which on its own is fine. What is not fine, however, is barely leaving any space between parties and forcing people to sit very closely together. We thankfully had some space between us and the other parties at the table, but that was only because a couple that was supposed to be next to us was upset and got relocated somewhere else. Otherwise our waiter was splendid, and the service was decent overall. Moving onto the food, we ordered sumac flatbread, trio of spreads, charred prawns, basteeya, shakshuka, and couscous -- served in that order.. Aziza started off incredibly strong with the flatbread and spreads; the flavors were bold and vibrant, and the bread tasted freshly baked. The prawns were solid as well, with the green apples adding a nice touch. But after such an impressive start, the basteeya didn’t quite keep the pace. We were told that it's the restaurant’s signature dish, but it felt a bit more familiar than expected rather than something particularly standout. It was still a solid dish, just not as special as we had hoped. Around the time we finished the basteeya, the restaurant became noticeably busier, and we ended up waiting quite a while for the shakshuka and couscous. Maybe it was coincidence, but it definitely felt like the kitchen slowed down once the influx of guests arrived. When they did come out, both dishes were enjoyable, though once again they leaned more toward straightforward and familiar than anything especially distinctive. If the restaurant can sort out the communal table spacing and smooth out the pacing of the meal, I’d be more than happy to return. With service as warm and attentive as we experienced, I’d certainly look forward to coming back.
I wanted to try someething different; some cuisine that was a bit more unique to the Bay Area. We have so many Asian food options. Morrocan was one of the more unique dining options that popped up. Aziza was also listed as fine dining...perfect for anniversary celebration! Parking was beyond challenging this particular weekend! There was a flea market and something else going on... I circled the surrounding blocks for a good amount of time without finding anything close. I had to to expand my parameters and finally found some parking several blocks away, about a 20 minute walk. We were actually 30 minutes late! Luckily the hostess didn't give us any problems. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, the let us switch tables to a better location. Good size venue, although the tables are a bit cozier than I prefer. #MorrocanEats; ~ grilled monterey squid - 5/5 This smelled amazing. The portion is most definitely on the smaller side, not a shareable appetizer. More like a personal appetizer. Fresh Squid grilled to perfection. ~ whole branzino - 5/5 While the whole fish was served, it was split open and most of it was deboned it as well! Brilliant! Cooked to perfection... ~ basterya - 4/5 Crispy, flakey warm Chicken patty... Serving size was in the middle; it could go either way. This could be an appetizer for somebody with a big appetite or a main course for somebody with a small appetite. Initially I thought the first bite was amazing. However, the more I ate it the sweeter it got. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the rasins, I thought they ended up giving the dish a sweeter finish that I preferred. ~ yuzu custard - 3/5 This was just odd... The flavor profile was too erratic, went in too many different directions. I think they over complicated this dessert. The presentation was nice. Our waitress Nydia was amazing; knowledgeable, patient and on top of everything. Mahalo Nydia!
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Food was standard fare. The extended review... Food: Custard French Toast - 3/5 - Definitely more of a toast than a custard toast. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - A very well decorated interior. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pricing for portion was fair.
Overall the food was great. We got the granola, the avocado toast, a side of kofta, the French toast and shashuka to share. Each dish was amazing however, the service and overall experience was not good. We got the same menu but with two different prices, one menu had a latte for $6 and the other for $8, for example. The service was also very slow.the server asked us if we want the food to come together and we said yes. The granola arrived first, the avocado toast 15 minutes later, the kofta 5 minutes after that and the French toast and shashuka 30 minutes after my granola arrived..the timing was pretty bad and the server told us that there were only 2 cooks in the kitchen. However, all the tables next to us got their food before us so something definitely went wrong with our table. Just a pity that the overall experience wasn't great.
