Authentic Taiwanese food, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, great boba. Meal portions are big so it’s good if you’re hungry. Otherwise don’t over order
Teawood is one of my family's new favorites. It's rare to find legit Taiwanese food in SF for some reason, and this place has it. This is what we got: Fried chicken over minced pork noodle (B02) - really good. Chicken is nicely fried, great flavor, and very juicy. Noodles are really good too, very good texture and flavor. Popcorn chicken with minced pork rice (RE04) - also super good. Similar to above but with rice and popcorn chicken style. Braised beef noodle soup (N01) - I really enjoyed this. It has the right taste, the noodles are bouncy, and the meat is very very tender. They also give A LOT of meat. Fried pork chop curry rice (RE05) - pretty good, for some reason one of my kid's favorites. So food is really good, though I think the menu could benefit from a redesign because it's confusing to read. But so happy this place is around now. Will definitely be coming back often!
Lot’s of desserts and food, the fries are yummy !! Will try all on the menu. Coconut desserts are my favorite !
TeaWood Cafe did a good job decorating the restaurant and with the creative dishes on the menu. Props to Lisa X and Genevieve Y. for posting nice food photos. If you order the cutlet noodle dishes, they don't serve it on the side. You need to order the rice dishes to get the cutlet on the side. There was one waiter working 10+ tables and to-go. Naturally, there's a long wait for service. Same with the kitchen, very slow. I have a soft spot for Taiwanese food. My Taiwanese pork cutlet noodles needed pickled mustard greens. My friend's fried chicken noodles had it. It also needed scallions. Overall, good job staff at TeaWood Cafe.
these purple rice yogurts are SO GOOD. We tried the original one first and then loved it so much we ordered 4 more - one more original, two mango, and one matcha. They taste a little sweet, a little sour, and have the perfect about of chewy texture served cold. Comes in a cute reusable container with a straw. Definitely coming back here for these again 😍
I visited Teawood cafe , a new restaurant had soft grand opening today. The food was fantastic We tried Salmon pasta, Popcorn chicken, and everything was delicious. We enjoyed the milk tea and dragon fruit yogurt drinks. The milk tea and yogurt drinks was perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. The Staffs were attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed.
I had the pleasure of dining at TeaWood on its pre-opening day, and I have to say, it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere is cozy yet modern, with a warm welcoming vibe. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate. The menu is a delightful blend of creative dishes and classic favorites, and you can tell that every item is prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. I ordered the honey glazed chicken wings and calamari rings for appetisers, and it turned out to be one of the best ones I’ve ever tasted. With all that being said, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I saw this new spot open on Geary and decided to check it out. The popcorn chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the laksa noodles were rich and satisfying. The kafir lime tea was the perfect mix of sour, sweet, and refreshing. The durian in coconut noodle had a very generous amount of durian. The menu is quite large, almost a bit overwhelming, but it offers plenty to explore. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is bright yet cozy. Highly recommend checking Teawood Cafe out if you're in the a
Thr food was delicious and they had interesting drinks. We even won some plushies from a sticker they gave to us for free at the end of the meal. So fun!
Nice HK / TW Cafe. You will miss it if you drive past it. Inside is a pretty modern hip cafe style. Very comfy and a good place to hang out. Not only comfy, but the food is very good. Have all menu or cafe items and plus more with drinks and dessert. Definitely a plus and a place to try out if you like HK/ the style cafe / food.
What a nice and super friendly place! We were visiting our son in San Francisco and were looking for a place open on Christmas Eve. So glad we found this place! Had dinner plus fruit, yogurt and lemon drinks (all great). And the dessert soup in the bathtub bowl…super fun! Would definitely return as we wish this place will be successful.
They had tantanmen ramen! The kids loved the popcorn chicken and K-pop vibes
Happened to be on the street and they had their first opening day! Got the braised wings, delicious!! And our two drinks were really fun and good too. Service was lovely and I’m happy to see this new business here
Very authentic, not pretentious and yet quality place. They make the broth using traditional methods and the mango sago isn’t sweet. Pure goodness
Perfect. Delicious. Rose Chicken wings, pork chop noodles and braised soft-boiled eggs are so tasty and authentic.
The B02 plate another reviewer mentioned was delicious. I also got the beef noodle soup, which came with a lot of meat and great noodles. The broth was darker and more intense than others I’ve had, so I actually added some beef broth at home. That may just be my personal preference though
Delicious! Be sure to make a reservation during peak dining hours because its popular and fills up. I ordered the Margherita pizza - cooked in a wood fired oven and topped with fresh Genovese basil leaves. Paired nicely with a glass of Barbera d'Alba. Also, in this review is the butternut squash fettuccini with roasted Brussel sprouts, Pecorino, shaved garlic and balsamic vinegar drizzle. Paired with a glass of Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay blend. The restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood, so if you're a tourist your bus/rideshare will pass by this place on the way to or from the de Young museum. Oh, and don't forget housemade desserts - Yum :) Great service and clean bathrooms too.
First off, the food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully prepared, easily the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to. The service was just as impressive, if not better. Our waiter delivered true five-star service, offering complimentary tastings, making thoughtful recommendations, and striking the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. The ambiance was a perfect blend of classy and fun, with the charm of an upscale Italian restaurant and the energy of a lively bar. They even have a free pool table, which adds a playful touch. Highly recommend. I’ll be making it a point to return to San Francisco just to dine here again.
Absolutely WOW. Phenomenal and authentic Italian cuisine. Food was very good and high quality ingredients and generous portions. You definitely get what you pay for. Service was very good quality, keeping the table clean etc, but a bit slower as that is the normal especially with European culture. Not slow to the point where it’s problematic, but slow enough to allow you to enjoy your company and conversation. I will absolutely be bringing people here in the future.
We found this place accidentally and have been delighted every time we've come here. It is our favorite Italian spot in San Francisco. Most recently I ate the Veal bone marrow, Lobster Ravioli, and Gnocchi Gorgonzola. The pasta dishes were richly creamy, flavourful, and amazing. The sangiovese we ordered was smooth. The complimentary bread and dip is great too. Servers are courteous and attentive. Overall a great time.
Great service and great food! The menu was a little overwhelming at first to read but we both were able to find something we liked. The quality and quantity of food were perfect (and we were given some additional treats for free)! I wouldn’t say this gives typical Italian-American restaurant vibes (more authentic Italian) but in the afternoon it was quiet and exactly what we needed. Lots of gluten free options and pasta is very well made!
Came with a work group and the staff was wildly accommodating of our large group and long, relaxed meal. The bar area really undersold the high quality of the dishes and the attentive, gracious service. Incredible artichoke dish and also loved the Matriciana. Sadly, I ate too much to enjoy a affogato so I’ll need to return one day with my handsome lover and treat him to dinner and dessert.
We were a group of 6 adults and 1 toddler. Bella Trattoria had a table set up for us with a high chair, and they were very accommodating. The place is warm and cozy, and had an eclectic group of customers, some couples on date night at the bar and the front tables, and 3-4 tables had young families. I like that they didn't snub the couples with young babies. The food we ordered was very good. We had a vegetarian minestrone that came out in pots for our whole table to share, along with some fresh bread. Our entrees were pastas: creamy cheese ravioli with veggies added (our cousin loved), pesto (my husband's favorite), arrabbiata spaghetti (the baby's first time trying it, and she took it over - loved it), and a fettuccini dish that was made with an egg sauce, which was very tasty. Sorry I don't remember the official names of the dishes, we didn't take a pic of that day's menu. Their pastas were cooked to a perfect al dente. We also ordered desserts (sorry, no pics, because we dug in so fast). The tiramisu was my favorite, a panacotta with berry compote was our cousin's fave (and also the toddler's), and baba Neapolitan (homemade rum cake), which the others loved.
Great spot for some Italian comfort food. I got the mushroom gnocchi, and the mushroom polenta (those are not the correct names of the dishes, just my descriptions 😂) The gluten free gnocchi was delicious and soft, and the sauce was quite rich and flavorful. The polenta was soft and tasty, and the mushrooms and cheese on top were great. I enjoyed the wine sauce on it as well. Overall a bit rich, so I probably should have ordered some salad, but the flavors were fantastic and nothing was lacking. Cute atmosphere, very friendly staff, prompt service, and I just felt right at home there. If you're gluten free and vegetarian or pescetarian, they have some great options! I also love that they are open pretty late, until 11, so I was able to drop by pretty late after my tourist activities. Highly recommend!
Had dinner here with a group of friends on a Friday night and had a great experience. The food and ambiance were both solid, but what really made the evening stand out was our server, Kitty. She was incredibly sweet and attentive, and also gave great recommendations throughout the night. We made a reservation through OpenTable, which made everything easy and seamless. Would definitely come back! Thank you again Kitty!
We just had one of the best dining experiences ever at this Italian restaurant! The food was so amazing that we even forgot to take photos. But what truly stood out was the exceptional service. Our server, Kitty, was incredibly warm and friendly. She noticed we weren’t enjoying one of our dishes and promptly replaced it, then surprised us with a delightful panna cotta dessert. It’s rare to find such attentive and thoughtful customer service these days. Thanks to Kitty, our night was truly unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to everyone.
I loved my time eating here. I had originally planned to eat here only once during my trip but after my first dinner, I had cancelled other dinner plans and came here again before coming back home. The bruschetta is very yummy and I could eat like 3 orders of them they are that good. It's very flavourful and is not like any other bruschetta I've had before. The fresh mozza was delicious. The Arrabiata is also very good and has a nice kick to it. I ordered the same dishes I had on my first dinner at my second dinner because I just had to have it again before leaving.
If I could give this place six stars, I would. The dining experience here is exceptional—something you don’t come across often anymore. Every dish was delicious, from the prosciutto burrata to the gluten-free pasta. The service was just as impressive. I sat at the bar watching some of the Australian Open, and Andreas and Morgan made the experience even better. They were friendly, easy to talk to, and made me feel right at home, which is rare these days. I’m not a San Francisco local yet, but I’ll be back several times during this trip. When I move here, this will definitely become one of my regular spots. Highly recommend!
Cute cafe with so many different foods and drinks, chances to win free blind boxes if you order a certain dollar amount, and the option to order from a kiosk, using a QR code, or speaking with a server. The lighting is a little bright, so it’s more of a fun hangout spot than a date option. We really liked the rose honey chicken wings, Taiwan minced pork sauce over noodle, scallion oil noodle, and signature tofu pudding. The chicken salted egg yolk pasta was just okay.
We’ve been hearing about teawood for a while and given our experiences in Taiwan, we’ve been really looking forward to eating there. It wasn’t crowded as we went early around 5:30 pm. I ordered the beef noodle soup and my wife ordered the minced pork over rice and added an egg. My soup was very large and had generous portions of beef and noodles. The broth was dark and intense in a good way, I liked it very much but the minced pork with rice came out and the minced pork was cold!!! It had not been heated. We asked the waitress to fix it but she seeemed uncertain about what to do. Finally she went into the kitchen and brought out a new bowl of hot minced pork to put over the cold pork and the warm rice. That dish was surprisingly soupy in not a good way! Later we ordered the durian tofu pudding from her and she went into the kitchen to make sure they had it. When she came out she indicated that it was available but that it’s COLD!!! Well of course it is!!! Generally we want our entrees hot and our desserts cold. I’m assuming after we asked for a hot entree, everything we ordered we’d wanted it hot? I can’t believe that level of incompetence and ignorance!!! So service is not a highlight of teawood. Now the durian tofu for $6.95 was sublime. Highly, highly recommended!!! We’ll be back to try more dishes and to make sure the staff gives us hot entrees and cold desserts!!!
A very welcomed addition to the neighborhood! Taiwanese food that could be inconsistent at times, we had 5 dishes so far and liked 4 out of 5! So that's a good sign. The drinks are hefty as well which is great. But I have to give a shout out to Vivian, who was going above and beyond for every table, she was running around making sure everyone had what they needed, all while she seemed to enjoy her job! The inside is spacious and you won't feel crammed, with cute signs and an emphasis on a cute bear.
Delicious Italian spot with exceptional staff and a cozy, welcoming ambiance. I loved the pesto pasta—it was fresh, flavorful, and not overly greasy. The bread served with sun-dried tomatoes was absolutely incredible; I’d honestly come back just for that! One star off because my partner didn’t enjoy the burrata pizza—it was more like bread topped with burrata, arugula, and ham, and lacked warmth and sauce. That said, we’re excited to come back and try other pizzas. Overall, great food and outstanding service. Highly recommend!
Teawood Cafe was a bit underwhelming. I tried it after seeing it on TikTok, but the milk tea with the bear was a letdown...it had almost no tea flavor and tasted more like soy milk. The appetizers were decent: the super long fries with truffle dip and fried tofu were okay, but nothing to rave about. The fried pork chop noodles were hit or miss, the pork chop was good, but the noodles were overly salty, even after mixing in the sauce.
Went later in the night since they close at 10pm. Nice ambiance with dim lighting. Service was pretty good. Appetizers: I thought the complimentary bread felt nice and soft, but the gf felt it was old and cold compared to hot & buttery bread served at other restaurants. Next, the Bruschetta ca' pummarola tasted the best out of all the orders. Main: We went with the three course prix fixe meal: 1. Swordfish Carpaccio Antipasti tasted... interesting; like salty dried fish, maybe not our taste? 2. When the Squid Ink Fettuccine and Salmon Fettuccini came with "a lot of plate", the portion initially looked small, but there was actually a good amount of pasta there. But flavor for both was lacking and quite salty; we could not finish it due to the sodium. 3. Panna cotta - it was okay. Overall 3/5 for the food. I bookmarked this place awhile back and was glad to try it, but will likely not return.
Not having the most basic red sauce on a weekend? Amateur. Poor planning. Heating lasagna in what tasted like a microwave heat up with rubbery pasta? Unappetizing. Gluten free accommodated well. Sadly, a star lost to no more gluten free pizza. Gluten free gnocchi have no 'tooth'. Flavorful but mushy. Nice, caring staff, good service, warm welcome. Parking fairly easy on a Sunday night. 38 Geary bus on that street. Nice restroom.
The hostess at the entrance was extremely rude, condescending, and openly discriminatory. Even after I clearly said that my English is not perfect, she kept giving me degrading, belittling looks multiple times and treated me with zero respect. Her attitude was so humiliating that I seriously considered leaving the restaurant. I only stayed because my husband really wanted to try this place, but she ruined my evening and made me feel ashamed, unwelcome, and deeply disrespected. The kitchen is truly excellent; this was one of the best pastas I’ve had in San Francisco, and the other staff members inside were kind and professional. However, as long as you continue working with such a cold, hostile, and tourist-unfriendly hostess at the door, many guests will leave this place unhappy. This level of disrespect does not belong in a restaurant with food of this quality.
