Opinions de Nakorn Thai San Francisco
atmosphere is chill and cozy, food is great and if you ask for it spicy it will genuinely be hot!! 🔥🔥 lots of options as a vegetarian.
I just love this place. Duck with rice is the best anywhere. I also get pad sew ew. Also spicy chicken w eggplant is delicious. Fair price. Most people order for pick up. Go to place when I am in the area. Wish I lived closer!
My new favorite Thai restaurant in SF. We ordered pork larb medium spicy and yum talay- both were excellent! The seafood in the yum talay was all tender and fresh, and the ground pork in the larb was succulent. Similarly, I felt our tom kha gai stood out from other restaurants because the chicken was still moist. The flavors didn't stop there- we also ordered the pad prik king with a crispy pork belly substitution served Thai spicy. DELICIOUS. We were very happy campers, and I really appreciated that they were upfront that swapping the meat choice would come with an additional charge. I think that's totally fair when subbing a "premium" meat. The place is small and clean. Don't be deterred looking in from the outside- there is seating in the back for ~16 people. This was a really wholesome neighborhood spot. Both servers on duty were attentive, and everything was handled with great care. Nakorn Thai SF is a new (to me) favorite I can't wait to share with friends and out of towners alike.
Fantastic and authentic Thai food! This intimate family-owned restaurant has amazing food and wonderful service. The owners made sure we were happy with our orders and my daughter loved the mango sticky rice and pad see ew. We are definitely coming back for more.
Delicious duck curry and super quick service. Great flavor for price.
This restaurant made the perfect papaya salad, exactly the taste I have tried in Thailand. All other foods were great, too. The waitress was so nice and helpful. I highly recommend it.
I've been coming here for a very long time. It's one of those places that the flavors are comforting and the staff remembers you. Be forewarned that they can get crowded because it's a small restaurant, but the turnaround time is reasonable. They're open late, so it's good for the late night people as well. They treat me well with a special order since I have a severe poultry allergy and they don't want to necessarily accidentally stop my breathing. I highly recommend them!
Open kitchen and friendly staff. The noodle soups are all fantastic and a must try!
Quality food, more complex flavors in their pad Thai than I have found elsewhere. Curry portions were generous and filled with good veggies. Delicious hot Thai tea for 1$ and really good hot sauces. Would totally stop back in.
Literally a hole in the wall restaurant. Cramped space, their hours are erratic -google maps often has them wrong- and if you show up even 30 seconds after they've closed between lunch & dinner they will NOT seat you.... even if you're a regular customer like me! That said, this is one of the best Thai places in the bay area. Their soups specifically are perfection- Tom Kha Gai is highly recommended: some places use a very sugary coconut milk base but these guys don't; the soup is always savory and just right heat-wise. The Pad See Ew and chicken satay are the perfect accompaniment. Service is always good here, just don't show up late!
Always coming back to this hole in the wall. They're super fast and the roast duck curry is my fav. Really good restaurant with cool chill people making your food! Thanks guys 😁
Best and most generously proportioned pad thai ever eaten. It was so savory with well balanced ingredients, just the perfect amount of shrimp, tofu, bean sprouts, carrots, cilantro and crumbled peanuts. Make sure you try their hot thai tea as well. The waiter was super kind and the service was record fast. Also a nice cozy atmosphere.
Nakorn Thai is an absolute gem! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a warm and welcoming ambience that instantly makes you feel at home – a solid 10/10. The atmosphere is inviting, with thoughtful decor and a calm, cozy vibe. The food quality is exceptional – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection, easily earning a 10/10. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put genuine care into every meal. Cleanliness is also top-notch – the entire restaurant, from the dining area to the restrooms, was spotless. It’s clear the staff take pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. Another 10/10. Nakorn Thai SF exceeded all expectations. It’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Thai cuisine served with excellence in every aspect. Absolutely better than Marnee Thai in Irving and 9th Avenue.
My go to place for Thai in the city. Small but pleasant seating area. They always have a friendly staff. The old school fried rice with the chicken cutlet on top is still a favorite of mine from when it was part of king of thai. Their pad see you and rad na is pretty yummy. Let them know how hot (spicy) you want it! They will accommodate you.
Craving satisfied. Got the Tom Yum Gai with vermicelli noodles. Perfect amount of sour with a mild kick. Service was great and the staff is super friendly. There is an open kitchen so everyone greets you as you walk in and thanks you as you leave . We went on a Saturday night for dinner and was able to find street parking very quickly. Will definitely be back.
We were welcomed by the nicest people in the area, they greeted us with smiles and showed us to our table. The food was also exceptional and fresh, our deep fried ground pork and crab roll, roasted duck red curry and cashew chicken came piping hot, and all the dishes were absolutely delicious! The price point is also quite good, as most dishes comes with rice or noodles. There are a total of 7 tables inside, so it is cozy and gives off a neighborhood vibe. They were all so great even greeting us as we left. We will definitely come back to try more.
Fantastic Thai food at a reasonable price, and very fast and friendly service. The Emerald Salmon dish was so tasty, and my kids LOVED the mango sticky rice dessert (the owner gave the kids extra, so nice of her). Wonderful little restaurant near Clement and 7th Ave., worth the visit
Honestly the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted. The customer service here was great, super friendly staff. Onto the food, we ordered two dishes: Shrimp pad Thai, this was the best pad Thai I’ve ate. The sauce wasn’t too strong and tasted authentic. I hoped it would have a little spice kick but it didn’t, but still delicious. Peanut curry with rice, this was a new dish to me but sounded appetizing. The curry was rich with flavour and I will definitely be returning here again soon !
Guys this is a review from a couple that lived in Bangkok. The only difference was that the dishes were not as spicy as they are in Bangkok but that is because in Bangkok there's a higher tolerance for spicy, other than that amazing dishes highly recommended. For all the plates you see we paid $107. AMAZING !!!!
This place is AMAZING! From the time you walk in the door everyone greets you authentically and that love transfers into the food. I can’t wait to go back. Price, portions, taste, service…. The sweet and sour shrimp flavor was REAL. Muy delicioso… voy a volver pronto.
The food and service were so amazing, I took my bestie to lunch and everything so good, again service and food. I also tried the Thai ice tea refreshing. They know exactly how to combo the food and pair with the perfect rice.
Just finished my delicious lunch and savoring the sublime state of satiation. We always forget to take a pic before we eat but alas I could only t snap this photo. Highly recommend for delicious, well made, Thai food in a cozy no frills spot in the Richmond. Formerly King of Thai Noodle, the chef is the same as before the name change and the menu has a good variety of noodles, curries, soups, rice dishes and appetizers you’d expect (satay, papaya salad) Came here with my mom who loves their sweet and sour prawns-this is an amazing dish, the prawns are coated in a super light crunch that makes the whole dish come together. Sauce was perfectly balanced. I had the Tom yum soup with tofu and it was the perfect sour/hot combo. The bowl was huge. Pad Thai noodles were al dente and dry (a good thing, not too saucy). Service was fast, attentive and friendly. It’s a small space that can fill up quickly but tables turnover relatively fast and this place is totally worth the wait. So glad to have rediscovered this place and happy to have another option for great Thai food
Great food, authentic hole in the wall
Best Thai we've had in a looong time. Big portions, full of flavor and spice! And when I asked for Spicy, they delivered, unlike other places! 5 stars! Giving 2 stars for service, as the server girl never refilled my water, and I had to get up and ask for my bill to pay. Totally ignored after food was delivered. Atmosphere is a bit lame; cramped and noisy, so two stars for that....but food rocks.
Wonderful!! Delicious and authentic flavors!! Highest quality food and service! Warm and attentive staff make you feel like you’ve been friends for twenty years!! Noodle soup with fall apart tender chunks of flavorful beef and a broth that you can’t stop eating! Nam tok (spicy beef salad) and larb moo (spicy ground pork) will feed your soul! Will definitely make this place my #1 stop every time we’re in SF!!
I'm surprised that I didn't find this place earlier. Food portions are large. Great prices for San Francisco. I'll come back in the future. Limited seating.
My life is changed. Coming to the area for a competitor Thai place around the corner, we were sad to discover they were take out only. Our misfortune was indeed short lived as we discovered Nakorn was mere feet around the corner. When I walked in confirming the right place, I was met with the first joyful face of many throughout our visit. Every item ordered was better than text book Thai. The creamy yet light broth of the tom ka gai was smooth and delicate. The pad Thai was properly sauced and seasoned, NOT DRIED OUT!!! But the winner of the evening has to be the pumpkin curry with chicken. If you want a feeling of thanksgiving without the stress of the entire feast, come enjoy the warm atmosphere and staff here. 100/10 recommend.

This is my favourite Thai food in the Inner Richmond neighbourhood! Everything they make is so delicious, and it’s clear that the focus is on high-quality, high value dishes. Back in the day this used to be the superior King of Thai noodle location, and I think it’s still reigns supreme (just like it did then) over the other Thai joints on Clement Street. I recommend it without hesitation!
They are my favorite Thai restaurant. I've tried most of the Thai restaurants in the Richmond but I keep coming back to this one. I love love love their noodle soups and of course everything else is also top notch. Fried chicken is 💣💣💣💥💥💥. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. It's also pretty cool you can see the kitchen.

10/21/23: The restaurant had rebranded as Nakorn Thai. The menu appears to be largely the same. It seems the chef is still the same. Time will tell if the new place is ale to carry on the good reputation of the old restaurant from King's Thai #1🙂. #1.The.Food.is.Amazing.🍜👏🌈🦄🇹🇭🇺🇸🤩 Don't need to take my words for it. Give it a try yourself🎉. 2023 update: New ownership, same great taste 👍🎉🙌
This is my go-to Thai restaurant in the Inner Richmond. It has a narrow entrance past the kitchen and very limited seat in the actual restaurant but they make some of the best Pad Thai around. Their noodle soup is also excellent. I typically get my food to go from here and they are very quick about preparing it. If you are a fan of good Thai food, I recommend stopping by here at some point.
Excellent food some of the best thai I have ever had. The thomka soup was definitely a large portion and loaded with chicken and vegetables. They are open late til 11. The only reason I gave it 4 starts was for cleanliness in the dining room. They could use a good cleaning.
Cheap, clean, fast and tasty! I had a papaya salad and the pumpkin curry. Both comes in generous portions and are full of flavor and spice too! The place is small, it's always a good idea to order by phone and pick it up.
Pros. 1. The place is very clean. 2. The staffs are so friendly and attentive. 3. Pad Thai is the best. 4. The portion is big. * cash only * about $13-16 per person is expected.

A tiny surprise that is inexpensive but really dishes out great Thai! Duck in and eat like a king!
Wasn't this the original location of King of Thai? That's how I remember it... Has the delicious King of Thai disappeared now?? Anyway, I came here with the wrong expectations, but even though it was an open-run and we were pressed for time, I still have fond memories of the tasty meal! Overall, the food was pretty good, and my wife said the seafood noodle soup was really tasty.
3.5 Extra points for closing late! My boyfriend ordered flat noodles with beef and yellow curry with rice. I appreciated how efficient the workers were here and got our order in about 10 minutes to-go. I would say that their portions were huge and satisfactory! We devoured our food and the price was affordable enough for the two of us.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. Pros: Delicious, quick Thai food for an affordable price. Try any of the soup noodles, which are better than those at any other SF Thai place. Pad Thai and Duck Curry are really good as well. Cons: The interior is your typical hole-in-the-wall decor. Service is equally terse and efficient.
My roommate and I wanted a late night bite, so we ended up at King of Thai Noodle House. I was getting over a cold, so I ordered soup with pork dumplings. The portion is huge! There were different types of pork, from the dumplings to sliced. It was actually too much for my taste. I ate only half, and ate the rest the next night. The broth and the noodles were good. It's a tight space, and it can get very busy. It's probably best to get your food to go.
Ordered Pineapple Fried rice, Pad Prik Khing w beef & Duck Red curry. Curry was great but came with it's own rice. Pad prik Khring was mostly rice. Pineapple Fried rice was good but was of course rice. I wouldn't have got the first 2 because the rice was pointless & the portion on the Pad Prik was tiny. Food was good but well overpriced for portions.
This place is extremely naaasty on the outside and on the inside. If the parts that everyone can see are this dirty I can't imagine how is what we can't see. I don't understand how places like this exist. All of the employees especially the lady taking my order where really rude. And to add the employees are not wearing gloves/face mask correctly. #covid there is not one positive thing that I can say about this place.
I had a very disappointing experience at Nakorn Thai. I placed an order and politely requested a simple customization, which was acknowledged by our server, Nut. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, my request was completely ignored. What made it worse was that the dish couldn’t be eaten as originally served for my needs. Mistakes happen, but what really mattered was the lack of accountability afterward. When I brought it up to Nut, there was no apology or effort to fix the issue. For a place that prides itself on hospitality, this was extremely frustrating. Good food is important, but listening to customers is just as important. Sadly, this experience ensured I won’t be returning.
