Opinions de Steins San Francisco
Stain has the best BEER in SF no question about it with wide selection of German beers on tap like nothing can beat. Fantastic bar food and absolutely amazing insanely great service, we love all of the staff at Steins, especially Alex! Nice place to hang out, lots of TV 's to see your favorite sport. Five-star rating all the way for this pub.
We spent 2 weeks exploring the coast and visiting family. It was a wonderful happening to come across Stein’s! The bartender was fantastic sharing her travel stories and “Stein” stories. We hope her trip back to Ireland was one to remember! Food and beer were perfect. Sandy/MN & Steve/NH
A sports bar with German oriented menu: various wursts an d burgers which our party of five ordered. All were great. Service was very courteous and prompt. Amazing selection of beers. At noon on aTuesday it was quiet enough to actually hold a coversation. Portions were large and prices were very reasonable. We will be back. A real winner.
Alex is a fantastic bartender and a master of ceremonies and Phil is a phenomenal chef. His burger and his fish and chips are out of this world.
Great pub with a range of beer options. I didn't catch her name, but the woman working there *really* knows their beer well! My partner and I both told her "I like X beer" and she gave us options that were similar, along with descriptions of their flavors. I appreciated her help and our beers were exactly what we wanted. This is a great spot to watch a Giants game or grab a beer with a friend.
Awesome German bar and restaurant. Great beer and bratwurst at a phenomenal price. Great service. Friendly staff. TVs everywhere so you will see the game no matter where you sit. A real stress free zone.
Great bar to watch local sports and especially hockey. The service is absolutely wonderful and if you frequent it often enough they will not only know your name, but also your drink and food order. As soon as you walk in they cater to your needs and are happy to change the channels to your favorite sports team's game. Visit anytime you are in the Richmond district looking to watch sports and have a Stein of beer!
New resident to inner Richmond and couldn't be happier with Steins! Just left and it's everything you'd want at a local bar. Insanely friendly staff (we had a lovely reddish-hair woman with an adorable son), great beers and amply-spaced out seating outdoors. I love beer, but not very familiar with belgium style but they have a great 0.3 L for $4 so you're not committed to a huge beer. Although, both beers I had, I loved. Definitely will be back!
I've never had a bad experience at Stein's! The staff and other patrons are always so friendly, the food is always on point, and they always have my favorite beer (doppelbock) on tap! Add to that the sports and you have a great neighborhood spot!
Awesome food, service and atmosphere. I come here almost every Sunday to watch football, the Patriots to be specific, the regulars are a handful of Pats fans so it feels like home. Great German/American fare beer and food, try the chili or the B.E.C. (bacon, eggs, cheese). This is a great place, just don't take my seat please.... LETS GO!!
This pub is a rare neighborhood gem - one having both unique and tasty German-themed items, as well as a stellar rotation of German/Czech beers. Well worth a visit - and with their Covid safe outdoor seating, no reason not to!
I have looked for a great German place to watch European football in company with other people who route for our national team for a long time. Today I found the perfect spot. I first called and Alex, one of the owner brothers, picked up the phone. We had a very cheerful conversation. He was accommodating and uptone. So I looked up photographs of the Steins. It appeared to be promising. I arrived early to secure a good seat for the European Championship first-round game between France and Germany. Phil, Alex's brother, was very welcoming and cordial. We had a great conversation until he had to go to the kitchen to prepare the meals for the customers. I was pleasantly surprised about the size and quality of the numerous TV screens. They are much bigger than they appear on their photographs. Even though Germany lost 0:1 against France with an own-goal, I enjoyed my visit at Steins. I will definitely be back for the next game on Saturday.
The food was great and the schnitzel was very authentic. It's a great laid back dining room with home grown feel. The bartender and waitress were both very good and the trivia on Mondays is a lot of fun
Nice local bar. As the name suggests they focus on German style beers, so on the lighter side. They did have one IPA on
Best place in inner Richmond for import beers. No other bar in the neighborhood serves spaetzle. The food is good but the real attraction is liters of German beer. Gotta love that purity law.
Had a great steak dinner with mashed potatoes and a salad. Good selection of German beers and food too. Service was exceptional from Veronica. Family owned. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our quiet Sunday night, however I expect quiet is not the norm. Good German beer selection, fresh and crisp, just the way it's supposed to be! We shared the Schnitzel with a side of Sauerkraut. Delish! I wish I hadn't agreed to share (although my doctor would be proud of my restraint) I could have happily eaten the entire entree. B
My now favorite sports and nonsports Tavern in the Richmond. Atmosphere was just the right balance of enthusiasm and still being able to talk and hear a conversation. Beers are great! And I'm a huge sausage fan, and they hit all the marks. But the biggest surprise was the Sauerkraut. This is exactly how my Polish mother cooked it with apples and caraway! Wow!
I don’t get how this place is not more popular. They have a decent beer list and you can get a liter of beer in a giant Stein for $12. Their food is really good with all sorts of German sausages, sandwiches and amazing fries. The staff is always so welcoming and really seems to appreciate your business. I highly recommend coming to check this place out.
Good beer for cheap! They even let us host a party in the back and helped up decorate. Such a great place to watch any games or chat with friends over beer and food
Great down to earth tavern with authentic German foods and great, if less known beers brewed mainly in Germany. Very friendly, it reminded me of bars and restaurants in the Midwest where I grew up. What a great surprise to discover!
Delicious, well-priced food, sports on multiple TVs. This restaurant bar has a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. I came for a burger and onion rings though. I ordered the burger medium and had the fries substituted for onion rings, totalling $11.96 before tip. Between the toasted buns, there were fresh slices of onion and tomato, and a piece of lettuce on a perfectly seasoned patty. I love great onion rings and this place has great onion rings. They're battered, not breaded, and perfectly crisped. The onion is cooked well, so the onion doesn't get pulled out when you bite in. My food came with ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, but it was so good, I didn't need any of it. I'd recommend visiting this restaurant bar, because they have delicious and fairly-priced food. It seems to have lots of German stuff. I'd visit again and try some of their sausages or breakfast items. On a separate visit, I had their wienerschnitzel. It was crisp and well seasoned.
If you want no frills, high quality food and tasty beers in a German beer hall like environment, then look no further. The kraut, to knackwurst to my favorite, the schnitzel...you can't go wrong. The bartenders are chill and the food amazing. While I don't really care, my friends also love that there are plenty of TVs pushing local sports as well. If you're in the area, go for a visit. And don't just get the schnitzel sando, go for the platter!!!
Great beer selection (including German and Czech). Super friendly service. Bavarian bratwurst was amazing. Highly recommended place!
Had to pull into Steins for a couple of pops with Greasy the Two Timer, and overheard a group of Posers talking about how wonderful the Schnitzel is, and that's all it took for me to get some for myself. Well, it is good as a matter of fact it's Amazing! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
Super attentive and friendly staff! :) Theyve got good prices and I’ve enjoyed the food every time. I love their schnitzel and I get their fries every time. The ambiance is a fun Austrian sports bar. I miss Austria and this place makes me happy!
Ordered burger with cheddar medium, came out perfect! I got an IPA which tasted great. Cool spot for good food and drinks.
Great place for watching the Euro, Champions league and world cup. As a quiet bar, there's nothing to distract you from watching the game and listening to the commentary. Also the wienerschnetzel is very tasty. Give it a try!
Awesome place if you enjoy German beers (the best). Love the litre steins. Authentic European style. Fantastic bar food.
Order a Weißbier and watch football. Best Schnitzel in San Francisco. Say hello to Siofra and Alex!
Beer is fresh and not overpriced. Service is awesome and friendly. Great neighborhood spot. Food is good too!

Long-established neighborhood bar in the inner Richmond with a fantastic German beer selection. Service is always been great here. Plus they have plenty of other beverage options. The menu is limited but solid and try to come on a day when they have the goulash with spaetzle option. It’s excellent and worth coming just for that.
Good and service ave atmosphere were amazing. Went around 130 200 on a Monday. Got a pork tenderloin. Was pleasantly suprised how good it was. Fresh and how and delicious good portion also. Thank you.
The power went down in SF, and this bar lit up. It was packed, they treated everyone with kindness, and it was an awesome time to experience this place. Food and beer is amazing, don’t slack on this classic sf spot.
Favorite local place for good German beer, schnitzel, sausage, and very nice bartenders. A chill and comfortable place to hang out
Good customer service and yummy german comfort food made in a home-cooked style. Probably wont blow you away but it’ll hit the spot for sure.
Loved this place! Bartender was so friendly and gave us so many recommendations for what to do in the city and surrounding area. Even locals were friendly and outgoing! Definitely a great place to stop for a beer and some brats!
They’re an Irish gal that works here who single-handedly managed a packed restaurant and bar excellently tonight. Had to write her some kudos. She took entire families worth of orders without writing anything down. Very efficient and thorough. Didn’t even realize there was only one person manning tables and bar until we were leaving. Super impressive! Great atmosphere, great prices, solid neighborhood spot.

Excellent locals German bar and food with fantastic choice of beers on tap. Delicious food, carefully prepared. They discontinued my favorite dish of their prawns, :(, but I get the calamari with a yummy salad. If you like red meat, they have great steak specials. The menu is a bit red meat heavy for me. But salads are terrific and so is the service. But if just come here for the beers they have such a great selection.
Great service and great beer selection. The sausage was good, especially the spicy bratwurst. The schnitzel was good but could have used a little more seasoning. Overall, really solid German fare.
Steins had a very inviting atmosphere and friendly service. It's a great place to watch your favorite sporting event. The food was decent and they had a good selection of beers.
I've been a few times and the staff have always been awesome. The atmosphere inside is super relaxed. Everyone's just there to hang out. The German theme is great and it means that there are beers inside that are drinkable! It's technically a sports bar, but though TVS dominate one of the walls, the sports is not in your face so it's actually pleasant to be inside. I love the atmosphere of the place! The one downside is that the food is a bit hit or miss. My first time I got the spaetzle, which is one of my favorite German dishes. It's a sort of gnocchi/mini dumpling type thing. The spaetzle itself was quite unlike how I've experienced it before: it was too soft and eggy. The flavor was also a bit lacking and it was served with some bottom of the barrel pre-grated cheese. It would be awesome if this dish was revisited with a bit of love, because it's a simple dish but it can be delicious. Maybe serve it with some nicer (fresh grated) cheese and work on the base flavor. I also got the chicken strips most recently which were a bit overdone and dry. On the other hand I got the steak special recently and it was great. Very solidly prepared and tasty! So yeah. All in all, despite a few nit picks about the food, Steins is a great neighborhood bar. So great, in fact, I come from a different neighborhood to hang out!
I don't got to a lot of sports bars, but this spot was close to Gazebo Florist, so friends and I stopped in for saturday lunch for three. the fish and chips were a 2x hit. the burger was ok, but the bun was overcooked. fries are shoestring. beer selection was solid, with something for everyone. the host was friendly, courteous and very covid cautious, which we appreciated. patrons were spread out as far apart as possible, which we also appreciated. tvs playing sports programming were apparent, but not the main focus, which i appreciated.
TLDR: sports bar/ German beer hall style with pretty good and really inexpensive food We came for game 1 of the nba finals and there were still a bit of seats available. There was a big selection of beers to choose from and we ordered a two sausage plate with fries for $15 and a fish and chips for $12 or $13. Both are fairly inexpensive and tasted pretty good though one of the sausages didn’t really have too much flavor, I did really enjoy the beef one. Friendly service

Good food and beer. Sharp mold smell from waterlogged ceiling tiles. Hard not to notice when walking in off the street. If they fixed that, it would be a perfect neighborhood bar feel.
Great German beer selection. Brats on the menu. They are popular (but not my choice). Fish and chips, grilled cheese. A few other things. But the beer is high quality.

The sausage dishes are good. Excellent selection of beers. There's an awful fish smell that lingers from next door, seat away from d door, the bathroom needed cleaning. Pleasant servers.
Steins is a German restaurant with a long bar which is great for watching games and great German food. If you love a good German beer and some schnitzel, then this is the place for you. You can order your beer in a stein glass and they have a good selection of some of the best German beers. To go alongside, they have a simple yet quality menu of German foods to go along with your beer. They have some big TV's and are always showing baseball, football, basketball etc. Very casual bar, a bit pricey but a fun place.
