Love Jean Carlo's lattes and the Romana salad is delicious! Can't wait to try more of their salads.
We chanced upon this on our way back from Coit Tower. Although it was only manned by one single man who seemed to be Italian , the service was efficient and he was friendly . We ordered 2 cappucinos and some small bomboloni doughnuts which came in a set of 3 (choc and hazelnut fillings). The little doughnuts were so soft and not too sweet and the coffee was great ! We sat outside since the sun was out and it was a cool day. Nice cafe to chill . Try it if you are in the area!
party of two, got one cortado and cappuccino. It took a little longer than your typical coffe shop because the owner is the only barista. The ratio was good and both were tasty! We were visiting but also had some work to do. The seat was comfy! It was also fun watching the regulars come and and catch up with the owner. The owner seemed nice and conversed friendly with tourists too. =)
We loved this place. I got an iced mocha two mornings in a row, and a sausage egg bagel. The sandwich was great real eggs and a lot of them! Fun small shop atmosphere is the middle of the busy neighborhood.
A gem on the corner of Mason St. And Chestnut. After walking around seeing the sites and sounds, we stop here for a late lunch. Everyone there was so nice! Service was excellent and the Caffé is charming. They ran out of falafel but more than willing to substitute with chicken or another alternative. All the sandwiches were made with care and had fresh ingredients. If you are touring and want a nice place to stop and just breathe... This is a great spot.
Really cozy local café with great sandwiches, coffee, and pastries. It’s everything you could want for breakfast or lunch. Everything is made to order and sometimes there’s only one person there so it can take a bit of time but it’s totally worth it. This is the chicken club panini which is my fave.
Great experience at this lovely cafe! Owner is very attentive and is proud of the quality of food being served. We had a breakfast bagel with egg, cheese and bacon as well as a funky avocado toast with a boiled egg on top. Coffee was delicious and the space is very relaxed. Happy we got to try this place on our trip!
We dropped by for coffee and something sweet. This place has a nice selection of coffee, tea and wines. We got a cafe latte and a Cappuccino along with a Tiramisu to share. Real tasty was it all A small gem here a 10 minute walk from the busy and overcrowded Fishermanns Wharf. Definitely a place to visit.
Ordered an iced matcha latte and a chicken club with pesto and it was so delicious!! The latte was a perfect flavor, earthy but still creamy and mild, with honey sweetener! The sandwich was so tasty, smokey from the bacon, substantial with chicken and cheese, and flavorful with the pesto condiments and fresh tomato and arugula!! The service was wonderful, so nice and fast, the cafe was clean and tranquil in a nice environment :) I strongly recommend!!
I have been at Cafe Capriccio a few times with my family. We have been always very satisfied with our food. My go to is the bagel and lox but I had recently the fruit bowl and it was excellent. My husband and nephew always have coffee and they are always happy. Always attentive service and according to my nephew, the little pastry balls are amazing. Thank you, my friends and we will see you again in September!
I walked by and stopped for a quick Espresso. Nice little cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. Inside it feels like little Italy. A fancy Espresso Machine, small delicious pastry and a nice selection of breakfast, sandwiches, salads and more. What stood out to me was the friendliness from the very beginning. Absolut amazing. You feel so comfortable here. Almost like home or on vacation in Italy. Very kind. Not to forget, Espresso was excellent and the pastry super delicious. Try the trio (mini bomboloni) - it won’t disappoint you. I just added this place to my favorite coffee and breakfast places in San Francisco. I will definitely come back. Thank you
Excellent and warm masters of hospitality, americanos, lattes, lox bagels, and so much more! I wish I had enough time to try everything on the menu, unfortunately I am a tourist at the moment. The space is so inviting and CC is so beyond what I envisioned what a great a cafe in San Francisco would be.
Excellent coffee & service. The owner is delightful, the food was really good (and well priced), and the coffee was superb Italian style. We visited multiple times on our trip and will be back when we travel there again.
I showed up with the intention of just getting an Americano, but saw they had food, so I ordered a bagel w/egg, cheese, tomato and avocado. Incredible food, so good! My Americano was the perfect temperature to sip on quickly. If you’re looking for a local cafe on the corner, this is a great place to visit!
We had the Bagel Lox — it was incredibly delicious, perfectly balanced and fresh! The donuts were sweet, I’d give them a 7/10, and the latte was excellent — smooth and flavorful. Cozy place with a nice atmosphere, definitely worth visiting for breakfast or brunch.
Best breakfast sandwich in SF - lived here for 3 years and have been looking for a great spot for years. Freshly cracked eggs, delicious bagel, bacon is perfectly crispy. Will be back many times
Ordered a caramel macchiato & cappuccino - they were perfect. Super happy to find the aranciata, limonata, & Italian beer, too. Will be going back.
Adorable cafe with countless delicious options. Staff are friendly and kind. Worth the short walk up from fisherman’s wharf.
This is one of my favorite cafes in all of San Francisco. They have wonderful coffee and pastries as well as savory sandwiches. The owner is so incredibly kind and helpful. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The food is stellar and is very fair price! I’ll definitely be coming back.
I feel so lo lucky to have found this place! It's so comfortable and cozy, the food is great, the music is tasteful and not too loud, the atmosphere is perfect for a friendly meetup or some work, and the manager is really friendly and generous (thank you for the extra canolli!) — and multilingual, too. Thanks again for your hospitality. I wish you every success, and will make sure to come back next time I'm in SF!

Genuine espresso drinks and fresh coffee. Great little spot with great bites and amazing staff.

Great alternative to the hotel breakfasts in the area. I loved everything about the cafe. Their menu is perfect. And the food was delicious. It was a beautiful day for outside seating so that's where i ate but there are tables inside too.
We stumbled upon this busy little cafe this morning. We heard it had had a change of ownership and boy were they busy on Super Bowl Saturday. A good sign that it was worth the wait. The owner was very apologetic for the wait time but it was one of the best coffees I have had in California ☕️ 🇦🇺 The bagels and cannoli was delicious too. Worth the walk from Fisherman’s wharf.
I love this place. I stopped by here and the vibe was really refreshing, calm, welcoming atmosphere. The two who were working where very friendly. I have to say it was one of the best mocha's I have ever tasted. I ordered a veggie bagel with hummus as well and it was delicious. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. I would definitely go out of my way, just to visit this gem again. The man who made my mocha even made one of those leaves in it for me. Love this place, those who are in the area or looking for a tasty bite and a great coffee to get you going, should come drop in this cozy place.
Cafe Capriccio is an absolute must-stop in North Beach — you truly can’t visit the neighborhood without coming here. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food and coffee are consistently amazing. Everything tastes fresh, thoughtful, and made with real care. What truly sets this place apart is the owner. He is warm, genuine, and make you feel like a longtime friend the moment you walk in. The energy and hospitality give the café its heart, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or settling in for a relaxed meal, Cafe Capriccio is one of those rare spots that always leaves you smiling. Highly, highly recommend!
Came here for breakfast and the bagel sandwiches were so delicous! The food was so fresh and the man working is so kind. A very welcoming enviorment that feels veru homey. 10/10 recomend! Also very fair pricing especially considering quality of food and location.
My wife and I went there both mornings we stayed in the city. Lovely atmosphere, felt very authentic and Italian. Excellent latte and food. Panini was amazing!
10/10 food, latte and service. The bagel and lox I got were so fresh. I just wish I lived closer to this spot, it was so delicious!!

I arrived 5 minutes after they were supposed to be open. No one even acknowledged the fact. He opened the door and as I was about to go in he said something i couldn't understand and started bringing out chairs and tables. I waited while he did that. When he changed the sign to open I went in. The woman at the counter said they needed 5 more minutes to set up the counter. When he finally took my order he was very grumpy about it. Sorry I have an early departure. Maybe change your open time to 730 on Google so people's don't show up before you want them to
Rated the food an 5 & atmosphere a 5 as we walked by, looks nice, but we did not eat there so did not want to give a bad review on the food. I was going to eat here (very close to our hotel) until I saw the rude responses from the owner to his customers here on Google. He keeps telling people to go elsewhere. I will take his advice.
I recently visited caffe capriccio and had the opportunity to try their latte and bagel. Here’s a breakdown of my experience: **Quality:** The latte was quite enjoyable, with a smooth texture and rich flavor. The presentation was appealing, and it was evident that the barista put some care into crafting it. The bagel, while fresh, was fairly standard but still satisfying enough for a quick bite. **Food Selection:** One downside I noticed was the limited food menu. While the coffee selection was decent, the options for food were sparse, which might not cater to all tastes or preferences. A wider variety would definitely enhance the overall experience. **Pricing:** The price point was another significant factor for me. I found the cost of $25 for a coffee and a bagel to be quite steep, especially considering the limited food options. While I understand quality often comes at a premium, this felt excessive for what I received. **Overall Impression:** In summary, while Chaffee capriccio offers good quality beverages and decent bagels, the limited food choices and high prices may deter some customers. It’s a nice spot for a latte fix, but be prepared to spend more than expected. **Recommendation:** For a more budget-friendly option or a more extensive food selection, I would suggest exploring other nearby cafes. However, if you’re in the area and craving a good latte, it's worth a visit!

Service was fine, they were clearly understaffed so I don’t want to blame the workers. I ordered a cream cheese bagel and got very little cream cheese. I ordered a coffee and latte, and both tasted like water - and the latte and it tasted like weak coffee with a splash of milk. I don’t think they should be offering a full food and coffee menu without adequate staff to execute.
Read some reviews and viewed the pics. Looked good and was close by my hotel. But the owner - an older Italian man with close cut beard - who takes the customers’ orders is NOT friendly. Almost to the point of hostile. I asked for an English muffin with avocado and add bacon since the customer ahead of me ordered an off menu item. The owner responded to me angrily while pointing to the menu telling me to “order only from the menu please!” So I said no to breakfast and just ordered a latte. Went elsewhere for a better breakfast.

“We love reviews” well here it is.. I’m currently sitting in the café waiting for my order, and wow… first impressions really do matter. When the owner couldn’t hear me, the attitude, scolding tone, and hand gestures like I didn’t know how to order was a bold choice. The shop is literally silent — so respectfully, it might not be the customers who need to adjust, go get your ears checked. I get that it’s early and maybe you’re busy or tired, but talking disrespectfully to the people spending money in your business is a wild business strategy. Just some food for thought while you’re serving coffee. But I now see this is a recurring thing based off of other reviews I’ve come across, maybe get somebody else to be the face of your business cause clearly yours ain’t it.
I was the first customer here on a Thursday morning. Based on the looks of the place, the pastries and the reviews I expected this to be top notch. Unfortunately that was far from the case. I had the sausage, egg and cheese bagel and it was quite the disappointment. I would rate it a 2.6/10 and that is being generous. For the price you would expect the food to be cooked in something other than a microwave. It was nearly $40 for two mediocre at best bagel sandwich’s and a drink. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for food. My girlfriend did like the coffee and is why this is a 3 star review not lower. Edit: After the response from the owner I am lowering this to a one star review. I think the response says everything you need to know about this place.
Orders an iced matcha latte and it was so pale I doubt any matcha was in there, essentially tasted like sweetened green milk. Though I should have known better than to order this.
Edit 9/25/25, response to Owner (who replied a year after post was made): Taking from 3 stars to 1 star due to Owner reply. TLDR: Curmudgeon thinks he's the soup nazi. Food and coffee aren't good enough to be the soup nazi. Don't go here. You imply that we didnt read the menu, but we ordered off of the menu: bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and an egg and cheese sandwich. YOU did not put bacon on the BACON egg and cheese sandwich. We asked for JUST an egg with cheese, with no bagel. You INSISTED we take the bagel. We were happy to pay for the bagel, but didnt want to waste it. Instead it got thrown away because a 4 year old doesn't always want to eat a bagel and some people are gluten intolerant. So instead of saving the business $2 and helping the environment, you forced us to take a bagel that was then throw out because it had egg and cheese on it and it wouldn't keep until lunch. We simply asked if you had gluten free options, and if you could do egg whites rather than scrambled eggs. This has nothing to do with how we reviewed you. Both in our conduct and our review, we were patient, polite, and reasonable. The way that you responded when we were in the café, and how you responded to this review ARE why it is reviewed poorly. Our inquiries have NOTHING to do with equipment. We asked for and paid for a bacon egg cheese breakfast sandwich and got NO BACON! We also asked that you just give us an egg with cheese with NO BAGEL. These things are not difficult and it is reasonable that one get what they order. This had nothing to do with equipment or space. It has everything to do with your unwillingness to listen, which is indexed by your reply. Also, the lattes were not good. I had said they were fine, but we hadn't had more than a sip when I wrote the review. They were undrinkable and were thrown out at the next trash can after the first sip. As for your snarky 'find a different café', my last sentence of the original post specifically said that we won't be back. I review a LOT of cafés (dozens upon dozens around the world, feel free to look at my profile for recommendations). We have NEVER had an experience like this. 2 previous service industry workers one of whom is from a family that owned several restaurants, bars, and bread and breakfasts. TLDR: Curmudgeon thinks he's the soup nazi. Food isn't good enough to be the soup nazi. Don't go here. Original post from 2024: Stopped by for breakfast and a latte. Nice enough folks, cute place, some good looking sweets options... Asked for an egg white for the little one, but that request seemed very confusing...and as they don't have any gluten free options, we asked for an egg and cheese sandwich without the bagel, which they simply couldn't do. We'll have to walk elsewhere to find someone that will give us an egg without the bread. We had ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel also and received a egg and cheese bagel. Pointed it out, and it was apparently too difficult to sort out getting a piece of bacon. Lattes were fine, better tasting options just a few blocks away. Sad that it didn't turn out differently, we had high hopes. We'll go elsewhere next time.
