Amazing gem in the outer sunset. Great food with an authentic taste, very friendly staff, and stiff-and-well-priced drinks. Get the expresso burrito and the fresh margarita!
The perfect LA Style Mexican Restaurant. Great for families and groups. No notes.
The BEST Mexican food in the city. Been going here for many years. Only problem is, OPEN EARLIER❣️
Delicious food - fantastic margaritas, really nice staff and atmosphere. The prices are pretty good, too. My go-to place in outer sunset.
Super friendly and timely service, good Mexican food.
Really friendly staff and food was delicious! I love how cozy this location is. Will be back!
Delicious Mexican cuisine. Fresh warm Chios and salsa is complementary. Margaritas are delicious, and they serve Mexican handstands!
Great place to stop after spending a day at the park if you want Mexican food. Portions are big so you get your money's worth.
Love the margaritas, dig the food, great spot for kids and to catch the game. Staff like family is you go enough, which we do.
Fantastic little Mexican restaurant that has been there for ages. The food is delicious, the staff is super friendly and the margaritas are delicious.
First time at this location and it was awesome the food was excellent very friendly staff. I would recommend.
Super friendly staff, generously portioned and tasty margaritas, many good tequila options, heavily customizable menu for all tastes for adults and kids alike. I've been enjoying their take out option since covid lockdowns and it's nice to eat at one of the separated tables as well.
Fabulous weekday special. Taco Tuesday is when we went. Walked in 10 minutes after opening and noticed an almost full bar. Good sign. No wait. Cute table under cabana next to projector tv. Perfect. $5 house margarita plus had two $5 hard taco plates. One of each. Delicious, perfect portions. Strong, large Margarita. Had asada Fries as well. Check out the picture for how large they are. Priced accordingly, $12 & change. Couldn't say enough about this place. Service is great. Will tell loads of people, bring family and dine here again. Thank you.
If you're looking for an old school mexican restaurant, Celia's is the place. For years we'd go to the location in San Mateo or Burlingame . Now we live in the city and this is the place, the origin of them all. (READ the history on their website. ) Great service with good to match. Looking for those cheeses enchiladas you grew up with? They're here. And also margaritas you probably didn't have as a kid. Parking is a pain, but totally worth it
This is the best place in the world. Super friendly and helpful staff and they do the cantina basics at a high standard. Great for margs and T shots at the bar. Aidan. Julia, Bethany, Phil, Sal. Karla and the rest of the crew will take good care of you. If you go to the bar if you are nice one of the regs will by you a drink. It's a friendly place to get your eat and drink on!
Nice to have a go-to Mexican restaurant in the outer sunset. Great margs, and the food is delicious. I cant get enough of the tostada salad. Ask for the spicier salsas with the endless chips. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but you can normally get a drink at the bar while you wait.
Even though is a bit slow for a Friday night, we still had a half an hour wait. However we found seats at the bar very quickly and they do full service there as well. We were able to order our meal have a few drinks and be merry.
CELIA'S BY THE BEACH Most Excellent Place For Dinning! I Highly Recommend That Everyone Go And Enjoy The Experience! Sincerely A Loyal Customer, That's From Another Neighborhood Here In San Francisco, Maurice D. Hawk! September 17, 2020:
Kids eat free Wednesdays!!! That's reason enough to love the place but the food is amazing and the staff is so helpful and they love kids. Also, the margaritas are pretty fabulous
I have been going to Celia's for a long time, and could easily eat here every night if I could! They serve up some yummy Mexican comfort food, my favorite being their Tampiqueña, which includes a cheese enchilada, carne asada, rice, beans and coleslaw. Margaritas are always a hit (get the Pomegranate on the rocks!). I also have thrown a couple of small parties in their semi-private back room which is the perfect place to host a celebration. They have family photos throughout the restaurant as the restaurant is still run by Celia's family.
Such a great restaurant for families with kids!! My kids loved the food. It came out quickly and the servers were so nice. We will be back!!
Celia's by the Beach is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant, my home away from home. Beyond description delicious!!! One word to describe the food and drinks, MOUTHGASM.😋🤤 The owners and staff, like the family I've always wanted. Love this place.♥️🥰🥰🥰
True NorCal Mexican food in a warm & friendly family-run restaurant by the beach. Large menu that’s also good for vegetarians, incredible margaritas, great vibe, affordable prices. Celia’s always feels like home.
This restaurant has been my favorite ever since I was a small child. My favorite part is the delightful fried ice cream as the finishing piece. The only thing that was slightly concerning was the service in Covid. Thankfully that has been improved greatly. Thank you Celias by the Beach!
A great Mexican joint really close to the beach good margaritas, great prices great portions, good spice level they make their own chips and salsa. Be sure to go for your birthday I did and had a great time.
We were there for Taco Tuesday last week and had a fantastic experience!! I wish I got the name of our server who was excellent and took time with our questions! The frozen marg. is a must! Perfectly balanced, slushy, and not too sweet!
I attended with a party of 4 adults 3 children and they accommodated us just fine. The drinks were delicious I had a frozen margarita. I enjoyed the music some reggae. Popular local spot get your seats and out of the cold.
Had not been there in 25 years and was not disappointed. Food was fantastic service was awesome. I had the MAC tacos which was mango avocado and carnitas. So delicious!
We recently celebrated our soccer team's end-of-season party at Celia’s by the Beach, and it was absolutely perfect! With a group of 30+ players and parents, we needed a spot that could handle a large party and still feel fun and welcoming. From the start, Phil, the manager, was fantastic—friendly, accommodating, and efficient. He made sure everything was set up seamlessly for us. When we arrived, the staff was fully prepared, and our buffet dinner was ready to go. The food was delicious, and there was more than enough space for everyone to eat, chat, and enjoy the celebration after a chilly game at Beach Chalet soccer fields. Thank you, Celia’s, for helping us create such a memorable event! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it for anyone hosting a large group gathering.
Very delicious food. My mom had steak fajitas and I had shrimp fajitas
New to the neighborhood and walked by and saw it was taco Tuesday! Had a lovely time, will be back soon to try the rest of the menu!
You should try their street taco, which was amazing. Their margarita was also gorgeous. Try their mezcal directly from Mexico.
Loved Celia's. There's a nice neighborhood feel here. Pollo en Crema was delicious. Some local Giants fans watching the game at the bar. Nice atmosphere. I'll definitely return.
Been a fan since 2011! Friendly service, fresh made food, great ambiance. “Comfort” is the first word that comes to mind. Fun for solo dining, families, date night. I miss living close by, but still worth the commute.
Okay I'm literally amazed! Last night I witnessed something superhuman! lol. but seriously I am really blown away at how it is possible for a single waitress to effectively attend to & service over 35 guests not to mention children & folks sitting at the bar all at one time? Well, the waitress pulled it off and did it with a smile on her face! I was with the group of approximately 20 all ordering full-course meals and drinks. Our food came within total reasonable time I'd guess 20 minutes. I ordered the carne asada full meal. Unfortunately, carne asada speaking strictly only the meat rate it a 4/10 otherwise the rest was delicious. One of my friends got the fajitas meal which I regretted not getting😋 Shout out to the waitress's (and waiters) AND the the cooks because y'all are amazing. I had a wonderful memorable experience!
I ordered the Impossible Nachos. It's non-dairy. No cheese or sauce but the nachos were surprisingly delicious. The chips and veggies were nice and fresh. Looking forward to trying other thing dishes here!
Quality food for an authentic and great place! We ate with 5 people and our bellys were filled for great value!

We hosted our baby shower at Celia’s and had a fantastic experience! Phil made the planning process super easy for us, let us in to the restaurant early to decorate and tailor the space to our liking. Communication was super easy from the first time we connected and on our special day Phil and the team made sure we were having a great experience. Our party was 30 people hosted in the main dining room. We did a buffet style taco bar that was delicious! With a marg station, horchata, aqua fresa and other soft drinks upon request, and brought in our own cakes. All went swimmingly! Highly recommend hosting your private event at Celia’s!
Went to Celia's by the Beach for a Taco Tuesday meet up with SF Latinas Social Club and had the best time. We were happy with the varieties (vegan/vegetarian/meat) of tacos to select from on the menu. We also enjoyed our margaritas (the hibiscus and zero-proof coconut) both really refreshing! Finished the night with fresh churros. Easy to get to on public transportation as well!
We held my dad's 70th birthday party at Celia's by the Beach and it was a wonderful experience. Our family has loved Celia's for years but had never been to this specific location. Phil was incredibly responsive and helpful in the planning process and Isabella was attentive on site to carry out our special event! We rented the space in the back of the restaurant and had a buffet style meal, complete with margarita "fountains" so guests could easily get refills without any wait. The food was set out under warmers so it was hot and fresh! All of the staff was so kind and proactive. My dad was beaming ear to ear the entire evening. Thank you to Celia's By the Beach for making my dad's birthday celebration such a seamless and memorable event!
We recently hosted an 80th birthday celebration here for my mother in law and everything was absolutely wonderful! The staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the entire event — they really went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The food and drinks were excellent — we got so many compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was. The atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion, and the service made it feel effortless from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the entire team for helping make this milestone celebration so memorable! We’d definitely book another event here again.
This place is great! Food is delicious and clean, you can tell it’s quality food with such a friendly staff! I liked it so much we catered for a work event. Catering was so easy and delivery was seamless with live tracking. Dining in: Great ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Catering: Great ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Celia's has always been good to us and the food is outstanding. And you need to know: 1. We are local, 2. We are native Californians, 3. With Mexican roots, 4. And we have high standards of service. And Celia's checks every box. Our experience with Celia's is: If you don't like the food, you don't know what good Mexican food is; if you don't like the service, you didn't ask for help.
We worked with Phil from Celia’s to cater a taco-themed party. Phil was exceptional to work with. He was responsive, reliable, and patient. He took our budget seriously and thought creatively about helping us figure out the menu. The delivery was also seamless. He got to the event even before I did! The food was fantastic, with all of our guests going back for seconds and thirds and wanting to know where we got the food. Couldn’t recommend Phil and Celia’s enough, and we look forward to working with them again!
The wait at Outerlands next door was an hour long... So my wife and I popped into Celia's for brunch and immediately got a table. I was pleasantly surprised at the great food, warm service, and comfy booths. I've walked by the place for years and never ventured in. It's definitely worth checking out. The giant frosted michilada glass was on point, the chips and salsa were quick and tasy, and the Giants game was on too! An idea for the management: You might consider putting a framed review with pictures of the inside of your restaurant out front by the door. From the outside of the restaurant, you would never know how nice and relaxing it is inside.

The service is good, the margaritas are acceptable and it's a decent sit-down experience. Don't expect to be wowed with flavor or innovative dishes and you won't be disappointed
It's one of the places I go to most often in my neighborhood. Pretty good bar, with good food that's consistently tasty. They also have a pretty decent sangria.
Great margarita pitchers, huge menu with lots of variety. No frills in the best way possible:)
Great food, Great atmosphere, Usually quick seating unless it’s crowded. Overall a wonderful place to get a bite to eat
Small place Family friendly Great menu Very friendly staff The food was very good Had the mole and enchiladas. Salsa was very good put it on everything.
Reasonably priced local Mexican spot. Very family friendly and also a good place to catch a game. Chips and salsa are addicting
One of my favorite neighborhood spots. Need a margarita pick-me-up with a combination plate full of comfort food? Look no further. The combo with 5 options is death by deliciousness, DO NOT ATTEMPT SOLO.
Great local Outer Sunset spot. Traditional Mexican food. Really great spot for Taco Tuesday, with the taco & margarita specials, but be prepare for alittle bit of a wait (ave. 15-25 mins, so not too bad).
Im in this area often so eventually ill get to all the good foodie offerings the outer sunset has to offer. Today is Celia's, a place ive had on my list for a bit. Waited for taco tuesdays, today was it! Upon entering your greeted by two young ladies (that look slightly like the original Celia from the pic above and behind them on the wall) with a helpful direction one of them leads us to our seats. Drink waiter was their before we had a chance to look over the menus (+), after ordering the house margaritas (yes they make them blended or rocked) on to the Taco tuesday menu, not sure what the offerings are for a regular happy hour except pitchers of drinks at a discount (pitcher of ritas normally 32, HH price 25.) TT specials have street tacos for 3 for 3, hard tacos 2 for 5, and a mango pork/ avocado taco 6$. They also have good drink options, house rita 5, mex hand stand 5, shot of tequila 5. So not bad, also had a chili relleno and ceviche. The relleno was different (wrapped in what id call a thin crepe) the ceviche had lil to no flavor, my tip would be to ask for more salsa and dump it in the ceviche, it was kinda like pico with a small amount of tiny shrimp pieces. For the price add more shrimp and flavor please. All in all if your in the area and are looking for a family friendly mexican fair, this place might be worth a checksy.
Food is always good. Especially like the vegetarian enchiladas! Drinks are heavy pours and mixed well. Staff are a bit awkward and aloof, but the ambiance is not why I go.
Very cute local beach town restaurant with an amazing happy hour deal! Love coming here with friends to enjoy their vegan tacos + margs 🥰
Every once and a while, I get a craving for an oversized plate of Mexican-American food (you know, the type with refried beans, rice, and shredded lettuce). Celia's by the Beach fulfills this craving. I enjoy their carnitas platter: the pork was just right, moist and crisp around the edges. The staff are friendly, making this a nice, family-friendly place in SF.
So the chilaquiles are fire. They serve them on weeekends and go hella dummy. Now the street tacos are a no.
We went here for Taco Tuesday, when they have cheap tacos and margaritas. Note: The prices have increased a dollar from what is on their website. We went around 6-7pm and had about a 10 minute wait, but as we left, there was a line waiting outside. The restaurant is pretty big, has a fun atmosphere, and the food was really good. My husband had the mango tacos, which I'll get next time. I had the regular ones, which were good, but his were better. They had a kid's menu - my daughter enjoyed her enchilada. And kids eat free on Wednesdays. The margaritas were good too. My only complaint really was that the restaurant was pretty loud.
The margaritas are outstanding. Like, we got one large one to share with our food. After we were done eating (at the outdoor tables around the corner), we decided to go back and get two more margaritas for home. Both original and strawberry are wonderful. The enchiladas were flavorful. The veggie chimichangas were so-so (a little too doughy, too much grease, and not much flavor). The sides (beans, rice, and coleslaw) are all spot on. The chips are light and perfect vehicles to scoop said rice and beans into the mouth. The salsas are a little disappointing, on the very very mild side.
No frills place. Basic tables, concrete floor, stained upholstery and pretty much everything is dated and their prices are a buck or two higher than the decor would warrant but....BUT, the margaritas were EXCELLENT, the atmosphere is chill with plenty of screens to watch the game and the food was hot. The service was GREAT! We had 3 people checking on us to make sure we had enough chips and salsa (which were complimentary) and everyone was very nice. Overall, decent place a couple blocks from the beach. Have a couple drinks and a quesadilla and hit the beach.
I'm going to start by saying that this place has decent Mexican food. To be honest, it's pretty good for a place near the beach. I love this place though! It's a cool spot in the outer sunset. Right off the N-Judah line, it's a hop, skip and a short walk to the beach. Their margaritas are delicious and the staff is super nice! Fun Fact: During Giants games they give out free shooters to all the people sitting at the bar. I mean you have to literally have a seat and be at the bar, not just in the bar area. What happens for a Grand Slam like the one Crawford hit on Wedneday, October 1st, 2014...a shot of tequila! BOOM! Did I mention that it was free?!? Over all, this is a really cool spot to check out after any event you go to in Golden Gate Park or if you're down by the beach.
It's good. The enchiladas verdes were delicious, but the beans and rice seemed like an afterthought. The chips are delicious, but the salsa that comes with it is very old white people-ish. Flavorful, but zero spice at all. We'll be back for Taco Tuesday, but probably not any other day.
Taco Tuesday – Arrive early if you want a seat at the bar. I got there around 5 PM (they open at 4:30) and got the last available spot. Definitely an older crowd - I'm in my mid-50s and was one of the youngest people there. The $5 margaritas, while made with cheap tequila and sour mix, were potent. I tried both the crunchy picadillo tacos and the soft house tacos – both were just okay.

They just reopened or should I say re-upholstered.. as for the food... How do you f-up a fish taco.. go to Celia's and find out..it was bland mushy fish stew on a tortilla... so sad.. i love Mexican food.. and really wanted Celia's to be good.... i hope it gets better
Took two and a half hours to get food 🌯. Food quality was pretty good. Don’t go to a Mexican restaurant on cinco de Mayo. Staff was nice.
Not much a lot of Mexican food in the Outer Sunset so this is one of the few options. The prices are kinda high but they sorta make up for it with big portions. The surf and turf fajitas were decent. The mole was not that great. Lots of TVs, so it's a good place to catch the game.
Great Taco Tuesdays. Hostesses need to work on their seating, packed house during dinner rush and empty tables unoccupied for several minutes with customers waiting to be seated. I'd rather wait sitting down then standing in the bar area/entrance.
I would only recommend going during happy hour. The happy hour tacos are pretty good, and pair well with the margaritas, while the rest of the selection leave much to be desired. Overall most the menu is meh and there are better options.
I was very disappointed in the tacos. Very little meat, very little cheese. Small amounts of beans. They seem to spread the beans to make it look like so much more on the plate. Not worth the almost $17.00 change. Server was amazing, she definitely got a good tip from our table.
I really want to love this place but can’t quite. The bartender was charmless and curt, but she was kind of set up for failure. They must’ve been understaffed in the restaurant because even though there was barely anyone seated we were told by the two women at the front that there was either a 15-20 minute wait for a table for two or we could sit at the bar area and order with the bartender. We didn’t mind, it’s a cute little bar area, so we did that. The poor bartender was taking care of drink and food orders for about 10-15 people at a time while the rest of the restaurant appeared fairly empty. I could sympathize with her frustration but she was pretty rude initially to both me and my boyfriend so that left a bad taste in my mouth. At least the margaritas are tasty. And so is the food, even though it really reminds me of the Americanized Mexican food of my youth- really simple industrial kitchen looking rice and beans (but tasty!) and the mole didn’t have any of the complexity of real mole. But once again, it tasted good, just not like mole. Ha. The chips and salsa and the hot sauce (which came out upon request) were super good and homemade tasting. I don’t know…we’re within walking distance so maybe we’ll come back. Maybe during happy hour or on a Tuesday when there’s a Margarita special. Because despite everything, the prices are pretty high. It’s a cute old neighborhood place though so…maybe. Maybe we’ll come back. Going to edit this to say (because they won’t let me reply to the restaurant’s response): thanks for the reply! I guess I don’t particularly like brown mole; you’re right, I’ve never come across it in all the mole I’ve ever had. It seemed thin and lacking the complexity that I just love in moles, and what I’m looking for when I’m craving it. Also, had no idea there was a downstairs. That makes sense that you guys were actually busy then, it doesn’t look like it at all to folks who are new to the place (me) and my bf who used to go there all the time with his friends about 5-6 years ago didn’t know that at all. Lol. Anyway, maybe we’ll see ya some Tuesday
The food is GOOD, but the place was really busy and they accidentally gave me the wrong thing. I hope whoever got my tacos likes them.
Maybe just having an off night. Service was slow but I did not have the impression that it was was our server's fault, somewhere else in the chain seemed to be slowing things down. The food and portion sizes were good but they have stopped having the option of substituting Impossible Burger in the burritos. They weren't just temporarily out, they have decided to stop entirely. Since that was the primary reason we picked them for dinner, it was quite disappointing.
My second time here may be my last for a while. Decent little place in the city. Clean restaurant and polite staff. The food/drinks are decent- very, very standard. The dinner portions (including the chips and salsa {chips in a cereal bowl and salsa in a very small cup}) can’t really get any smaller. Teeny tiny small portions. I almost laughed when my plate arrived- very disappointing. The temp/quality of the food was decent. Family place so it is extremely loud at times. Somewhat pricy, even for San Francisco. Don’t expect to impress your date with this restaurant. Good for a small bite and a quick drink.
I've only need here for taco Tuesday's so I can't say much about their other food offerings. The house tacos are 3 for $3 which is a heck of a deal anywhere near the bay area. However with price cuts comes quality cuts. The tacos are very clearly made with cheap ingredients which makes sense. The Margarita was pretty good and also strong! $25 pitchers are a great deal as well.
House tacos were soggy, bland, and overall mediocre. I have a decent tolerance for mediocre food, and I won't be going out of my way to get three again. Mole cheese enchiladas plate were much tastier, but at $21 for 2 enchiladas, makes it a hard item to order regularly. Patio seating was a nice touch, and it's a local place that's well loved. Come for the atmosphere. Food is secondary here.
Prices have risen but menu (the in house hard copy version) not updated so you don’t know that until you get your bill. Mentioned it to waitress and she just said “ya, the prices are different”. UM….that’s false advertising. 4 of us went in bc crowded and good reviews but the food was underwhelming. Just thought you all should know. However it’s a great location near the beach and we were seated right away despite it being a busy Friday night.

Sadly, this historic gem seems to be waning towards insignificance. The staff, from the hostess to the busser to the waitress all seemed like they were on their first day today. Physically, the place looked in need of some scrubbing and new paint. The food was okay.
Standard Mexican food. Friendly. Got a combo plate. Enchilada was ok. Chile Relleno was pretty good. Tamale was decent but a little on the dry side. Took over half an hour from the time I ordered until I got my food. I ordered a cheese tamale but got a chicken. If I hadn't saved the tamale for last, because I rarely find cheese tamales so I was looking forward to this one, I would have sent it back. But after waiting so long to be served I just didn't want to deal with it.
Tried to order over the phone today and the lady answering the phone was very rude.
We got their at 8pm and was waitlisted for 1 hour.....Sat down around 9pm the lady took our order and by 10pm still no food. Talked to manager SAL and he said its taco tuesday so it is a little busy....Other people who came after us were served before us.....Walked out with an empty stomach....The lady who was serving us pretty damn rude and asked us if we want to pack our dinner to go.....I said hell fu$kin NO!!!!
People serving were really nice but oh my god how expensive and how average. For 2 fish tacos, 2 shrimp tacos, fries and 2 beers I paid 50 bucks. Way too much and way too simple. Tacos had a little shredded lettuce and cheese and some small pieces of fish and shrimp. I really do not recommend celia’s. Very simple and very expensive. No thanks.
I went here looking for fish tacos and started off excited that it was taco Tuesday. To my disappointment, the taco deal did not include fish tacos. For two fish tacos, it was $22. I thought, okay, well I came here for fish tacos and I’m gonna get some. If they are that much they must be good, right? Wrong… first of all, nothing looked fresh despite having an ocean view. The house chicken tacos had very little flavor and looked like they had been soaking in water for a few hours. The tortillas were wet and disintegrated upon picking them up (this was not a to go order). They had nothing on them except maybe 3 cubes of tomato from a sadly made pico de gallo. The only thing that had flavor was the ceviche, if you can call it that at all. It was shrimp mixed with pico de gallo. Not good, hardly passed as ceviche. $5 Margs were part of the deal — came in to go cups and didn’t have salt, wayyy too heavy pour. Chips were the only saving grace only because of the quantity. Quality was Taco Bell level. Plain tortilla chips were better than the tacos. The whole meal ($5 tacos, $22 fish tacos, ceviche and 2 $5 margs) cost $63 and was a total rip off. It also took maybe an hour to come out. Overall, the most disappointing meal I’ve had in a while.
AVOID! The food is barely ok an definitely not awesome. It is definitely not worth the excessive prices. AND they did not apply the happy hour fares! ATTENTION they charge you 25% of automatic gratuity without any warning before the bill nor explanations. Avoid!!
Ordered delivery. Chips tasted of stale grease. Enchiladas were also very gross, inedible at best.
Going to be honest here. I live 1 block away so i realllly want this place to be good... food is way overpriced unless you go on taco Tuesday. And the food is soooooooo soggy. Not sure what’s going on back in the kitchen but they may as well call it enchilada soup and super soggy tacos.
Oh boy. This place has gone downhill. Cold tacos. Greasy carnitas. Tasteless mango salsa. Lukewarm rice and beans. Waitress with zero good cheer. And next ro our booth, a pile of rags and vaguely swept up bits of taco chips. Never again.
Used to be pretty good before the pandemic, but our last experience at this establishment was terrible. We went to eat there because we were meeting up there with a family that used to live next to ours, there was 4 adults and 3 children in our party. They sat us quite quickly which was nice, when we got our food, we literally had not taken a bite yet and our server with the manager comes to our table and asked if we would move to another table because the table we were at was reserved for another party, then they offered to give us a discount if we moved. We agreed to move only to discover that they moved us to two separate booths that were right next to each other, so we had to speak rather loudly to have a conversation with the family that we came to have dinner with, also they seated us near an open door that went out to the street and it was a foggy day so it was as cold as the service we received. They pretty much neglected our table for the rest of our visit, after they finally took our empty plates from our mediocre meal they brought us a plate with a scoop of ice cream and greasy tortilla chips sprinkled on top of it without any silverware so once the chips were gone we couldn’t eat the ice cream. When we got our bill I could see there was no discount applied and when I inquired about it the server said “we gave you free ice cream”. I won’t be going to there ever again for lousy service and mediocre food, thanks for nothing.
Have eaten here for more than 40 years. I was surprised and disappointed this last week. Maybe it is our current economy. The serving sizes have diminished greatly. My plate was small, rice, was still good. Beans were watery, my bean and cheese burrito did not have any cheese, was on a a small tortilla, was not filled with beans, was flat on my Plate. The prices are high for what I received. Things have changed. However the service and staff were excellent
It’s like they didn’t want my business. Could it be because I was dining alone? 20 minute wait for a server when the place only has 3 tables occupied is not a good start. Guy who brought my the chips and salsa was not allowed to take my order. He (on his own volition) had to repeatedly go ask the waitress/ server to come by my table and initiate an order. Then server stated they didn’t knowing anything about the menu; that is another red flag. And then finally, the enchiladas tasted like a packet of Lawry’s enchilada seasoning is the third red flag. 60+ year institution is not a place to dine. Just a place to go drink.
The food is good but definitely over charged! I came here yesterday to order the Impossible Nachos (which are yummy btw). When I walked to the window and asked for jalepenos, I was charged an extra $2.75. I've never been charged for this before and it's my understanding that this meal comes with jalepenos. The waitress response was "we charge for everything here". Which was shocking because I've never had to pay for this before (it's even listed on the menu as an ingredient for the nachos). Nevertheless, The food and drinks are great, but I really feel taken advantage of after yesterday. After I paid almost $3, the waitress brought this small container (see pic), I hung my head down with discontent and just walked away. I used to come here every Taco Tuesday but will not be returning. This was my worst experience here during COVID.
Very dissatisfied for my first time. Sonia seems new and unknowledgeable of taking over the phone orders properly. And the manager wasn't trying to accommodate one of Sonia's mistake until I had to ask to speak to him about it .I ordered a super burrito over the phone And nowhere in my life have I been served a wet burrito when I ask for a burrito with everything. 30$ for something I didn't want . Very sad about my first visit. Without the wet I wouldn't be writing review. Hangry customer. Picture is after I tried to salvage the burrito.
I have been in the past years in around 50 different Mexican restaurants, taqueria and food trucks. There were great experiences and OK ones. Never disappointed. Now we found the bottom of the list. The most disappointing food. We had the Combo Appetizer for $15.50. Every pre school kid gets this cheese quesadilla, nachitos better done. The guacamole and soure cream were ok but just both together in one of the small small plastic sauce cups. The French fries had not seen any salt or other seasonings and could have been fried a little been longer. I have to say I had much worse fries in my life. With the rest of the other appetizers I am not sure. The chimichanguitas were dry. It felt like those were fried now for the third time after being frozen or being from a few days ago. The Expresso Burrito $18.50 was not good. The bottom of the list burrito. Nothing was right. I thought the Expresso sauce had something with Espresso. Could not been more wrong. It was a watered-down hot sauce. Not sure where the peanuts mentioned on the menu could have been. The filing of the burrito not great. The Carne Asada was okay. Nothing to complain on the meat, just nothing around it made sense or was made by anyone who has cooked before. I am OK, if the restaurant informs us that they have some apprentice preparing the food. The enchiladas en Molé. $21 the enchiladas were more like soft taco. The beef inside was ok. The Molé sauce was in a different league compared to the Expresso sauce. Still not great. Rice and beans you can buy better at Safeway counter. The Agua Fresca and the non sweeted Ice tea were good. Nothing to complain there. We got huge bag of chips which we have not opened yet. I hope the best. I might have watched too much Kitchen Nightmares, but I guess this was really not good or mediocre food. Not even close. I would say something positive about the service but there was no out door service. Outdoor seating managed as take out. The person who took our order was very nice and did a great job.
