Osvaldo was an exceptional server. He recommended the pulpo al mojo de ajo! And it was chefs kiss! 💋 he was so sweet and the Platanos are amazing, too! I asked for a skinny Paloma and he asked to ensure we can make one. And I got my skinny Paloma! This place is excellent!
Had the best service at the bar for dinner with Geovanny tonight. It was so busy, yet he stayed balanced and poised and on top of everything - having worked in the service industry, I was very impressed. He made a recommendation for wine based on what I described, yet provided me with samples of ones I was curious about... And I ended up with a glass of the one he recommended. The Pato en Mole Verde Pipian was perfect for my dinner. The arugula salad had a lightly sweet and tangy dressing, the duck was just done with a crisp skin and already sliced, and the risotto cake was lighter than I expected - it was a little sweet, a little savory, a little creamy cheesy, creamy inside with a nice crust outside. Thanks Geovanny!
I had an absolutely incredible experience at this restaurant. The Mexican food was some of the best I’ve ever had — I ordered the fajitas, and they were unbelievably fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You could really taste the quality in every bite. The plantains were completely out of this world — sweet, caramelized, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, I’m still thinking about them. Our Server Nayely provided excellent service from start to finish — attentive, friendly, and professional. She truly elevated the entire experience. The restaurant itself has such a cool vibe and atmosphere — perfect for a date night or a special evening out. I will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!
Osvaldo was an exceptional server. He recommended the pulpo al mojo de ajo and it was amazing! He was attentive, sweet, and his service was great! The food was exceptional! I over ate and over drank. Skinny Paloma’s are not on the menu, but they make them so delicious.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Colibrí, and our server Ariel made the experience truly special. From the moment we were seated, Ariel welcomed us with such warmth and genuine enthusiasm that we knew we were in great hands. Ariel recommended several delicious dishes for us to share, and every one of them was outstanding—the fresh, flavorful guacamole, the rich and perfectly balanced mole, and the incredible shrimp, chicken, and beef dishes that were all cooked to perfection. The flavors were vibrant and authentic, and we loved being guided through the menu to try such a delicious variety. The service was attentive without ever feeling rushed. Ariel checked in at just the right moments, made sure we had everything we needed, and created such a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It’s clear Ariel takes real pride in both the food and the guests’ experience. Colibrí is already amazing, but Ariel’s thoughtful recommendations and kind service took our dinner to another level. We left happy, full, and already looking forward to coming back—especially to sit in Ariel’s section again! Thank you Ariel for making our birthday very happy with the delicious dessert and singing to her!
We were there on Sunday 2/15 around 5:00 after a performance at the Presidio Theater. Upon entering we were greeted with a welcoming smile and were sat at a table for 2 in the bar area. We were a walk-in, no reservations. That was our first visit and Giovanni gave us excellent recommendations and service. The guacamole dip with chips was an excellent way to start. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friend enjoyed the chile relleno. For dessert we had chocolate churros with ice cream. A great way to end a meal. We will definitely be back. Jimena made great sangria!
Oswaldo provided a wonderful experience while we enjoyed our delicious food. He was very friendly and attentive during the entire visit. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very chic but still warm and inviting. The food mixes traditional Mexican recipes with a California flair that everyone will enjoy.
Upscale Mexican food with really high-quality ingredients. The staff is super attentive and the service is great. Portions are small and it’s definitely on the pricier side, but you can taste the quality in every bite.
Beautiful restaurant in one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. The food is an excellent representation of various states in Mexico and blends traditions cuisine with a modern flair. We loved the food here and walked away very impressed with the selection on the menu, cocktails, and the attention to detail provided by the staff. They were all excellent and made our first visit here the best ever. We enjoyed it so much and will return again and glide with the Colibri! Gracias! Salud!
This is hands down our favorite restaurant in San Francisco. The entire mix makes for a perfect, relaxing, enjoyable romantic evening or evening with friends. Parking is super easy ( when does that ever happen in SF?) The staff is AMAZING and top notch- courteous, attentive, fast and decidedly likable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the lighting is beautiful, both inside and outside. Last but not least, let's not forget the food....OUTSTANDING! It is not greasy, tastes incredibly fresh, and is very well prepared and delicious. Highly recommend. Total class act all around
Colibri Mexican Bistro turned out to be the absolute perfect place to host our rehearsal dinner! Ethan worked with us ahead of time as we planned out all the details. He was always quick to respond to questions and requests and really wonderful to work lwith. When we arrived that night, we were warmly welcomed and our server, Jay, took the best care of us. The room was beautiful, lovely Spanish guitar music enhanced the ambiance, service was impeccable (Jay even made sure that our guest with Celiac disease was offered options that were safe for her to consume) and the food was so delicious! All the guests were able to relax, connect, eat and celebrate at this special spot in the Presidio. I highly recommend this hidden gem, and can’t wait to return.
« The food was excellent! We also liked the service, pretty fast, and the waitress Laura were really kind to us. On top of that, I like the vibe of this restaurant: a mix between cozy and casual. I know this restaurant with a friend whom works for a company that owns Colibri (Migwouel) and I can definitely say that he does great work. Thanks Migwouel! I highly recommend it! »
5 stars for Julio and his amazing spicy margaritas and phenomenal service! Came for dinner with my fiancé and had so many delicious bites - the guac, tuna tostadas, and carnitas were all AMAZING!! The macho margaritas were perfect and Julio’s service made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back! 💫🍹✨
This place is consistently delicious! It is pricey but worth it! I love the outdoor seating area. The indoor area has the cutest decor! The Margaritas are strong and a tad sweet. Guacamole was delicious and large portion! A few gluten and dairy free options. I came here for drinks once and this time for Brunch.. I was not disappointed! I can’t wait to go back for another date night! Dog friendly! Staff are attentive and friendly as well. Tons of parking ($3 to park/hr.).
Our server, Oswaldo, was lovely! Made up for a bit of a longer than usual wait. I ordered a hot tea because it was chilly and I appreciated that the hot water kept coming without even asking. It was a small gesture but was very meaningful to me 😊 Ambiance on the patio was cozy and romantic with the greenery and fire pits. My dish was sooo yummy! I can’t recall the name but it had grilled octopus and calamari alongside a specialty butter. The potatoes literally melted in my mouth 🤤 I took half home because it was quite filling. I’ll be back for sure and want to try sitting at the bar!
Great spot at tunnel tops… good atmosphere, good to grab a drink and get some good Mexican food. I enjoyed the mole, my partner had the Tinga but would say it was ok nothing exceptional about it. Looked like that had a good happy hour so might try it out the next time for some of cocktails.
I love the location of this place. Walked around the park, then got dinner here with some friends. The Presidio is beautiful! Pretty easy to get a reservation. They have a nice outdoor area with heat lamps but we decided to eat inside. Drinks and food a bit pricey for what it is. My punch drink was good but mostly ice. My birria tacos were $30 and only had 3 on the plate. That’s $10 a taco!! Not worth it. I expected at least 4. They tasted good, flavor excellent but way too expensive. Everyone liked their food it was just too expensive for what it is. Nice atmosphere though! Service friendly but slow.
Came here for a bday dinner with a large group. The guacamole was excellent as were the spicy chicken wings. Overall the food is pretty pricey. $22 for a small serving of 3 empanadas? The server was also very slow. Had to practically beg for wine glasses and to order food. The setting is gorgeous though and super convenient to go to the Presidio Theatre. I would come back but will temper my expectations.
Colibri was good, not great. Located in the heart of Presidio Park, this restaurant is a convenient spot for lunch. The food is decent but didn’t wow me at all. As a celiac, I was worried about the gluten-free reviews of cross contamination on the Find Me Gluten Free app. When I asked the waiter about gluten free items on the menu, she didn’t seem to understand exactly what was safe for me to eat. She pointed to the fish tacos, but wasn’t sure about the marinade. To play it safe, I said I had both a gluten and soy allergy (the soy sauce they use is NOT gluten free). I ordered the butter lettuce salad with chicken. It quenched my hunger and was completely safe - I feel fine after eating. The food itself was nothing special. My friends (not gluten free) ordered the fish tacos, chicken tortilla soup, and chicken flautas and said they were “good, not great.” While the food was just okay, the ambiance and atmosphere was lively and fun. Service was also quick and friendly.
Wonderful spot if you have a lot of patience. Food and ambiance is spot on, as other reviews mention the service not so much. We waited 20 minutes after sitting for anyone to even look at us, and waters arrived 49 minutes in after asking a manager. The staff flailing and running like chickens with their heads cut off adds a level of chaos that makes it almost unbearable to dine. The manager seemed completely inept and unwilling to even understand what was going on or what we were complaining about.
This was surprisingly mediocre and expensive. Maybe it’s the location that we were paying for. We were surprised by the 5% surcharge before tip. Restaurants need to stop doing this and just raise the prices. It’s infuriating to miss the very fine print that may have mentioned that there was a surcharge. Service was slow given that there were very few people in the restaurant. Portions were small. I had the veggie and cheese chile relleno which was pretty good but the plate came with one and it wasn’t very big. My husband had the fish tacos and they were pretty small as well. Guac was good. We sat outside and the bench seating had lots of prickly things making it uncomfortable to sit and to touch. Other than for the location I wouldn’t recommend.
First of all this restaurant is not gonna go out of business because of this review. They have plenty of tourist to continue their practice. I come from Southern California where Mexican restaurants are everywhere and I must say that this restaurant does not stand up to your typical Mexican restaurant that I’m accustomed. I ordered the Carne Asada, and although the meat was exceptionally exquisite; soft, juicy, and had great taste, the rest of the plate was disappointing. I added my fist for comparison and they only give you a rice and bean portion enough for like a small taco tortilla. Very mediocre. I expected a lot more quantity for a $.10 rice and beans it costs to make per plate. The best thing about this place was the atmosphere and the decor. I disagree with customers paying for healthcare and other associated fees that the business decided to attach to the bill. Whatever happened to the days that the price of the meal included all the overhead? I can understand states like Hawaii where they mandate extra fees for kitchen staff or other Benefits to employees, but there’s no need for that here in San Francisco.
I had reservations and we were seated right away. There was seven of us and they crammed us all in a table that sits six. I would not recommend this restaurant for large groups. We waited for a while before our waiter showed up. The restaurant was not that busy when we got there. We also waited a long time to get our check. We kept trying to flag down our waiter but he just zipped by. The food was fine but the portions are on the small side. We ordered the Yucateco Chicken Wings and they were tiny, much smaller than the normal size chicken wings. Wish I would have taken a picture but we all laughed when we saw them. I told the waiter we were there celebrating a birthday and he said he would bring out a dessert. He gave us a few options and we decided on the churros. When the check came I noticed they charged us for the dessert. I was surprised because most restaurants offer complimentary birthday desserts. I also noticed the pictures people are posting on Yelp of their churros come with four pieces and a side of some type of chocolate sauce but we only got three pieces and no sauce.
