Opinions de Collina San Francisco
One of the best meals I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying. Everything was incredibly delicious and the service was perfect. Alexis sent us over to the wine bar across the street while we waited for a table, which was a great move! Our server was attentive but not overbearing and gave great recommendations. She was a delight. The famous lasagnette had great flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The wagyu beef cheeks were incredibly tender and paired beautifully with the parsnips and potatoes. The butterscotch budino was delightfully sweet and salty. Everything was delicious. We cannot wait to come back. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Collina is very small inside so make a reservation, get there early, or plan to wait. It will be worth it!
The lasagna is unique, one of my favorite Italian dishes ever. Instead of the usual heavy layers, this version is refined with perfectly balanced flavors and texture. The service was warm and thoughtful.
Very cute stop off the SF cable car. Make a reservation far in advance. I’m a local but love to act like a tourist in my own city. If you can time it right, I would recommend hopping on the Hyde street cable car and riding it directly to the restaurant! Every single item on the food is spectacular. The raviolo al uovo is so amazing - loved every bite. Same with the lasagnette. Tiramisu is fire.
Classic Nob Hill -ish bistro with tasteful and dark interiors. Moderate noise, solid menu. Good for any type of dinner. Reservations are necessary, with just four seats at the bar, which sits directly across from the door and is very drafty/chilly. Not suitable for large groups unless you book the entire restaurant.
The food and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. The staff were very attentive and the owner was so nice speaking to the customers and made everyone feel so welcome. Would highly recommend! The mussels were delicious!
Such a cute restaurant. Perfect for date night or small group (4-6 max). Food and service were excellent. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. The lasagnette is a must get. Scallops were so fresh and a nice lighter dish for the table. The pork Milanese was also excellent and ginormous. It doesn’t come with sauce though, so Next time I’d get the giant ravioli and the pork Milanese and dip the pork in the egg yolk. No bad dishes here. This crushed.
Small cozy little date spot with great food and vibe. Just had Truffle Tajarine - awesome! I did early walk-in for seating at the bar. Perfect!
Collina boasts great food and a solid wine selection. We had the focaccia, arancini, broccolini, and their well-renowned lasagnette, all excellent! Will be back!
If I could give six stars, I would! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, clearly proud of their food—and for good reason. We ordered the chicory salad, spaghetti, lasagnette, and chicken, and everything was delicious. The spaghetti, in particular, was absolutely outstanding. To top it off, they surprised us with tiramisu to celebrate a birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Lovey restaurant with tastyyyy dishes! The service was wonderful and very helpful with our wine pairings. Can’t wait to go back :)
1000% coming back. Liam gave my friends and I one of the best wine pairings we’ve had in a long long time.
This would be my second time back in one week! Romantic setting, incredible service, fabulous wines, and delicious food! The lasagnette was literally the best lasagna I’ve ever had… the ravioli was decadent, the tender scallops were perfection. . .i can’t wait to dine here again!!!
A solid dining experience. It’s set in the former seven hills space (their sister restaurant!). Super cozy and quaint - I absolutely love these kind of restaurants that make you feel like a local. Service was friendly and casual. Their menu is simple with about 3-5 items per category (appetizer, pasta, entrees) that are the greatest hits from the seven hills days. Between two people, we got the little gems, uovo (their signature egg yolk ravioli), gnocchi, lasagnette, and a bottle of aglianico. We walked away stuffed. For a normal dinner, we could have probably done with one less pasta and added a dessert instead. However, now that I’ve had the pasta it would be difficult to choose which I’d leave off. Would highly recommend for a date night or a catchup with close friends.

Incredible!! The raviol was truly the best thing I’ve ever eaten and cannoli was divine! The service was top of the line and Abraham took amazing care of us! So professional and friendly!

Great food, and even better service! My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary here and we had the best time! The truffle pasta special was to die for, the butterscotch pudding was even better, and the welcome we got from the servers was the best! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
Another Italian favorite in the neighborhood! We came here with friends and had a fantastic experience. The food choices and cooking are top-notch. You don’t have to worry about a thing—just make a reservation, show up, and eat! The staff did a great job explaining the menu, and you can tell it’s a local hit because so many neighbors dine here. We feel so lucky to live in this city!

fantastic italian restaurant bringing all the learnings from seven hills to its sister restaurant. although not as mind blowing as the OG, collina stands on its own with its tasty (albeit pricy) dishes and extensive wine list. service was also good but nothing too fancy aranchini: above average and tasty gem salad: fresh and helped to cut through richness of other dishes. nothing mind blowing gnocchi: one of the best gnocchis i’ve had. the ricotta base made for a lighter flavor and loved the mushrooms fingerling potatoes: must try - crispy, garlicky, rich scallops: perfectly cooked but overpriced tiramisu: delicious but nothing mind blowing.

Skip the mussels, the ones in the dish I tried weren't fresh tasting. There were 3 of us splitting the dish but they only served us 2 "pieces" of bread (1 that was sliced in half). Excellent service is paying attention to these details. We didn't ask for an extra piece, but with proper etiquette we shouldn't have to. Its a small thing, but if you're trying to be a semi-fancy Italian restaurant, it shouldn't be overlooked. Scallop dish is a winner, very succulent. The sauce is wonderful. The seasonal fig salad with lemon cucumber is pretty good, seasoned nicely. The spaghetti noodles were a perfect Al dent. I very much enjoyed the arancini, the pieces were much smaller than I thought they'd be. The tiramisu was ok, nice and light. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably recommend this restaurant, but its definitely not worth going out of my way.
The Raviolo al Uovo was absolutely outstanding — rich, perfectly balanced, and exceptionally flavorful. The fried Brussels sprouts were also a great choice, crispy with just the right amount of cheese. The Heritage Chicken al mattone was another highlight, tender, well-seasoned, and cooked with great technique. The only disappointment was the Spaghettini. While the sauce was excellent, the pasta itself was slightly undercooked and didn’t match the quality of the other dishes. Overall, a very good dining experience with several standout plates, but the Spaghettini keeps it at four stars instead of five.

After sharing our concerns about our unpleasant dining experience, the restaurant owner, Alexa, personally reached out to apologize and follow up. We truly appreciate that the restaurant values customer feedback and takes the time to make things right. Alexa’s genuine care and professionalism speak highly of the restaurant’s commitment to improving its hospitality and service. While our initial visit fell short of expectations, we were impressed by the sincerity of the response and the willingness to listen and take feedback seriously. It’s encouraging to see a restaurant that prioritizes its guests and strives to provide the kind of fine dining experience San Francisco is known for. We enjoyed the roasted chicken, but felt the lasagna could be improved, as it was a bit dry.
We had a nice evening at Collina and came in with very high expectations after reading the many great food reviews here and seeing a few videos on instagram. First off, the restaurant is cozy and very inviting, perfect for our dinner conversation. Service was impeccable. We want to stress that nothing in this review is related to the service we had as it was outstanding. Food came out quickly, table was cleaned between each meal change, new plates/silverware, etc. We ordered the following appetizers: olives, arancini, tuna tartare, house special baked cheese. We felt something was missing from the taste of the food, even just more salt and maybe pepper would have gone a long way. We just had high expectations coming in considering price and having been to comparable Italian places such as Cotogna. The octopus dish was one of our favorites of the night and had a nice balance of citrus and salt. We also ordered all 4 pasta dishes. The spaghettini was delightful, with a good chili flavor and tomato sauce. The lasagna also had a tasty meat sauce and was beautifully presented. The gnocchi dish was the disappointment. Gnocchi is really dense (should be pillow like) and the sauce almost has a grassy taste. Would not recommend ordering this dish. Raviolo was a tasty dish as well. Tiramisu is our favorite dessert and this is a more dry tiramisu. Felt light on the mascarpone and more like a whipped cream.
