Opinions de Sorella San Francisco
Really happy with everything we ordered! Did our homework and ordered the Parmesan budino which was indeed to die for. Also loved the veal tartare. The pasta dishes were so well done and the texture of both pasta was the best part. We got the beef cheek malfadine and clam spaghetti - definitely the most unique spaghetti we’ve had in terms of the noodle itself, and same with malfadine (for some reason I rly did not like the acidic sauce but I’m sure that’s just me - hubby loved it) Great service and vibe!!
Sorella was such a standout dinner. We came in excited and somehow it still exceeded expectations...especially the lobster lasagna, which was rich, perfectly balanced, and absolutely worth ordering. Dessert sealed the deal: the tiramisu was classic and silky, and the nutmeg cake with fior di latte gelato was one of those “don’t share this” combinations. Big shoutout to our server, Jocelyn....she was genuinely amazing. Warm, attentive, and effortlessly on top of everything without ever hovering. Her recommendations were spot-on, timing was perfect, and she made the whole night feel welcoming and special. The experience was so much better because of her. Can’t wait to come back.
Sorella is hands down one of my favorite spots in San Francisco. I've been with friends and with my mom—both visits were absolutely spectacular. The vibe is great, and the food? Next level. Highly recommend making a reservation or going early to grab a seat at the bar. We went for the $1 oyster happy hour (a steal!) and followed it up with the limited-time lobster lasagna and the pork chops—both chef recommendations and both phenomenal. Even though we were full, we couldn't skip the tiramisu (perfect for sharing) and topped it all off with a smooth espresso. Everything from start to finish was on point. I’ll definitely be back!
Stopped here for a night cap and dessert, sat at the bar and was treated so kindly by the host and the bartender (shout out Parker for the menu recs and the welcoming demeanor). Will definitely be back for the HH and dinner menu!! That orange cake will live in my head rent free!!!
Dinner was SOOOO good and service was awesome. Thank you, Kelsey, for being so attentive to our group, and thank you for being very knowledgeable; we asked so many questions and she had all the answers. At one point, my group was talking about how great it would be to have another order of bread so we can use it as a vehicle to soak up all the pasta sauces; Kelsey kindly brought us another batch on the house. I will have to say, the portions are not huge, but they are not small either. I could’ve used one more item but it’s all good. Didn’t leave feeling so full I could not walk and got to taste a few different things so I am happy. Food was really really good and you can tell the ingredients are of high quality and fresh. We did not have cocktails so I can’t comment on that, but we did bring our own bottle of champagne. When I called prior to our visit, I was told the corkage was $30, however we were charged a whopping $45; that is the most I have ever paid. Didn’t want to make a stink about it bc dinner was just so good, it superseded the extra we paid for our champs. Would definitely go back. Great for family, girls night and date night.
I had a decent time at Sorella. The restaurant has a classy atmosphere. At the same time, I can relax and enjoy a conversation with my friend. I ordered the ragu pasta with beef cheek and it is delicious. The beef cheek is indeed tender. The ricotta cheese really help mellowing the flavor and make it even more smooth. The dessert is good as well. Note that the price is on the higher side.
Sorella is the best approachable dining in San Francisco. Our meal was lovely and our server Flor was super friendly. Each pasta dish we ordered was flavorful and fun. Highly recommend sharing to try other dishes. The highlight of the meal was a new strawberry and lemon cake they just put on the menu. It’s a must eat!
The service is excellent! The pasta was very high quality and tasty! The focaccia, meatballs, salmon and tiramisu were excellent. This is definitely one of the most fine dining Italian restaurants in San Francisco by the Acquerello team. The cocktails are creative and the Italian wine selection is wonderful! It's a very trendy restaurant and has a very welcoming and lively atmosphere.
📍Sorella, San Francisco Where Italian Tradition Meets San Francisco Swagger Nestled in San Francisco’s Polk Gulch neighborhood, Sorella (Italian for "sister") is the lively, modern counterpart to the Michelin-starred Acquerello. While Acquerello is all about timeless elegance, Sorella is that fun younger sibling who wears designer sneakers with a suit. A Culinary Family Affair Sorella is helmed by Chef Denise St. Onge, who crafts Northern Italian flavors with a California twist. Think house-made pasta, Dungeness crab salad, and veal meatballs that might just ruin all others for you. The baked timballo—layers of dry-aged beef and Comté cheese—is like a hug from Nonna, but fancier. Ambiance: Cozy Yet Chic With an open dining space and a stylish bar, Sorella is perfect for date nights or gossip-filled dinners with friends. The vibe? Upscale, but still casual enough that you won’t be judged for over-ordering pasta. Know Before You Go 📍 Location: 1760 Polk St., San Francisco 🕰 Hours: Tues-Sat, 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM 🎟 Reservations: Strongly recommended Final Bite Dining at Sorella is like a family dinner where the food steals the spotlight, and the biggest drama is choosing between tiramisu and olive oil cake. Had a great time as this is our first time. All the dishes were great! We definitely want to return for the $1 oyster at the bar from 5:30-7pm! Pasta was awesome, not too salty and good portion. Dessert was amazing as well. Sorry we enjoyed the food so much and forgot to take pics until dessert… but just want to say we will def return!

Delicious and decadent food. Lovely atmosphere. Absolutely the best cheesecake I have ever had in my entire life. And FANTASTIC service. Our server Mara was so attentive and seemed to truly care about the quality of my experience. When I ordered a wine that wasn’t right for me personally, she voluntarily brought some samples to my table so I would be better equipped with the menu so I would know what to order next time, because she genuinely wanted me to enjoy myself while I was there. She went above and beyond.
Our first time eating at Sorella and everything was outstanding. The agnolloti with artichokes in an airy Parmesan sauce while rich was well balanced. The grilled Caesar was one of the most unique and refreshing salads we’ve ever had. The star of the evening was the vanilla panna cotta with a raspberry and oat topping that had layers of exploding flavors and textures. I wish I had ordered a second one. Loved the wait staff and felt welcomed. We’ll be coming back!
I am so late to writing this review, but this was one of the most incredible dinners I have had in SF. It wasn't just the food, which was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, it was the care of the staff and owner, Giancarlo, who walked around, filled water glasses, cleared plates, and helped his team. Fernanda Baggio is an excellent Chef, with unique and complimentary flavors popping in every dish. I cannot wait to go back and bring friends. It was a lovely experience from start to finish.
Sorella on Polk Street absolutely deserves 5 stars. From the moment we walked in, the team made us feel like we were part of the family, with warm, attentive service that never felt rushed or forced. The food was truly stellar – every dish was beautifully executed, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between lively and comfortable, making it a great spot for a relaxed date night or dinner with friends. Overall, it was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I can’t wait to come back.
Came in to celebrate an anniversary and received the most wonderful service and recommendations from our server Jocelyne. The food was fantastic and the cocktails were truly some of the best we have ever had. We felt really welcomed and treated the whole time by everyone we encountered at Sorella. Will definitely be returning. Thank you all!

My favorite restaurant in Fairfax! The food is awesome - the chicken Marsala and all the pastas are my favorites. Plus they have a very good and extensive wine list. The atmosphere is very cozy and the service is always great - just a top notch family run Italian restaurant that’s a favorite with the locals.
This place is a hidden gem. Best pasta I’ve ever had! The flavors and presentation are outstanding. The drinks are also delicious. The chef Fernanda is so kind and talented. We keep coming back for more every chance we get, and to experience the seasonal dishes!
I always heard good things about this restaurant and have been meaning to eat here. The food is very tasty - the carrots were especially yummy, but disappointed with the semi-stale focaccia. Gnocchi was decent. The service was good, but the restaurant feels a bit cavernous and has little warmth to it — literally & figuratively. Will need to come back and try it again.
A small and cozy Italian restaurant with a decent-sized menu, starting were turkey meatballs which were good and had a great amount of sauce, fresh oysters were a great choice but were a small amount for $25 for 4, for the squid ink pasta, it did lack flavor while having an appetizer amount of food. The service was also a little behind as I was waiting for a table for over 15 min even after having a reservation and the waiter forgetting our appetizer order. I would come here only once since just for two appetizers, 2 entrees and a glass of wine was over $220 and not worth that amount.

Hands down, amazing cocktails. The old fashioned was my favorite. Parmesan Budino was creamy and had the right amount of flavor; getting truffles may be too much. Meatballs were medium rare and the sauce was delicious. The egg yolk tonnarelli was my favorite dish and that’s what I’ll remember the most. The gnochetti was a disappointment since it felt flat; the garlic sauce was weak and the truffles didn’t add any additional flavor and I left disappointed. My overall thoughts is that this place is great for happy hour and worth a try!
I would have given 5 stars, but the attitude of the hostess was disappointing. She was quite rude, and the overall experience with her was unpleasant. We had a reservation for 5:30, which was the restaurant's opening time. We arrived about 5 minutes early, assuming the restaurant was already open, but it was still locked. When the hostess eventually noticed us, she gave us a cold look, with no smile or greeting. Once inside, we attempted to check in, but she refused, saying we couldn't because we were still waiting for one more person. Even after explaining that we wanted to order ahead, she was unaccommodating. Other than that, the food was amazing, especially parmesan budino! I'd definitely want to come back just for the food. However, I would expect more welcoming service from a restaurant of this caliber.
I liked that they had a happy hour but I came to an Italian place for a pasta dish with a creamy sauce but I couldn’t get any kind of pasta, which surprised me. Service was pretty good, but I still felt like one of many. I am in no rush to go back.

Overall pretty middle of the road. Veal crudo was chewy. Pastas were salty. The gnocchi is to be avoided at all costs. Service was extremely slow. Seems like the restaurant understaffs on weekdays, probably to save on money. Everything felt a bit disjointed. Nice interior tho. Skip this unless u come for happy hour. Opt for Alto Vino or Che Fico instead.
Very good food, especially the lobster lasagna and malfadine. Also good cocktails (I liked the fratello) and wine list. Waitstaff was clearly understaffed and stressed out. Long waits for food, drinks, and waiter attention. We were recommended the focaccia 2x by different waitresses only to be told twice over that they were out of it. For a saucy meal some bread would have been great. Not the waiter’s fault but a restaurant shouldn’t run out of bread at 7:15. Table wasn’t ready on time even though we had a reservation. Service just needs to be better at this price point - I’d return in hopes it was an off night but not if I needed to impress somebody.
Food was okay. The service was good but we expected so much more for $300. The appetizer was ok, the soup was delicious, the main steak was good but the desert was lacking. It was similar to a store bought cake. Overall not worth the price.
