Amazing Thai. We walked 1mi up the hill from Chinatown for this place … was well worth it! Great authentic Thai food, laid back atmosphere, great service. Try the Num Tok (medium spicy) and some Chicken Satay for app!
One of the best Khao Sui I've had in the USA. It's so good and a must try. We also got the tom yum soup which was just as good!
Delicious Thai food! Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful and made with good quality ingredients. The menu offers a great variety of dishes. Good atmosphere and good service!
I recently dined at Thai Spice for dinner and had another amazing experience! We ordered the Pad Thai, Egg Plant Basil, and Roti Dip, which were served alongside delicious yellow curry paste. The pancakes were crispy, tender, and had the perfect stretchiness to them. The Thai-style eggplants were also a hit. This was my second visit to Thai Spice, and the food has consistently been exceptional. The ambiance is elegant, and since we went early in the evening, it was a quiet and pleasant dining experience. The servers were friendly, although they didn't check in very frequently. Overall, I highly recommend Thai Spice for delicious Thai cuisine in a lovely setting!"
This was a great experience. We checked 2 other Thai restaurants in the area before we picked this one. At entry, we felt good. Well designed and clean. We selected two appetizers and two entrees. Each one tasted so good and very different in ingredients and taste. We loved it. I have 4 stars, and I wish there’s 4.5 stars only due to having impersonal service. It was like drop and go without a word. It would have completed the good experience here if the servers could’ve said something. All ingredients tasted so fresh. I would come back again for sure. Please check the photos I posted here to see what we ordered.
Boi was it a busy weekend. I would say that the soup was creamy and salty. Definitely something I haven't had before. As for the khoa soi, this was magic. Imagine a chicken ramen with a Thai zest. This was a large bowl that should have been completely gone at the end of the lunch. This was my fave. The eggplant chicken was lacking seasoning and was difficult to eat. The inside aesthetic was baja mixed with touches of Thai. 8.5/10
I have been to Thai Spice a couple times now - once in the evening with friends, when the restaurant was packed and again as it was time for the restaurant to open. Oh and I cannot forget about the times I ordered DoorDash from here either (loll). Both times, I have been to this restaurant, I have loved their food. To be completely honest, after my first visit to Thai Spice, all I could think about was my next visit so I could reorder their Khao Soi. I mean this in the best way possible - their Khao Soi is great as is but another kind of amazing as leftovers. There is just something about allowing both the regular and fried egg noodles to fully absorb the flavorful broth that fully brings the dish together. Between the stewed beef or chicken as protein, I personally prefer the beef (sorry tofu, perhaps next time). Other menu items I have tried are: their Fresh Shrimp Rolls, Cha Cha Chaa, Crab Rangoon, Tom Kha, and Tom Yum. For the most part, they are solid dishes. Only comment would be that the Cha Cha Chaa and Tom Yum are a tad too salty unless you have a side order of rice or noodles to go alongside these dishes.
Great ambience, and the thai food was perfect. We ordered Vegetarian meals, and they have just one curry without fish sauce - Green curry - which was really good. The Drunken Noodle is one without fish sauce and was really good. We did extra spicy for both dishes and was perfect for our desi taste buds. The Thai Iced Tea was also good.
We ordered all dishes on the chef's special. Each and every one of them were delicious. Very tasty and wholesome. For appetizers we picked the spring rolls. Great point of reference between restaurants. I like more mint but otherwise super fresh and the peanut sauce scored 10/10!
I was surprised how delicious the food Appetizers was delicious and I ate yellow curry with chicken, it was first time to try it and I love it, really recommend the place, it is considered one of the best Thai restaurants in San Francisco, thank you for the service and the amazing food. For 5 people we paid 160$ and it that is a good price for a group
Cant praise the food enough! Super delicious Khao Soi, Crispy Crab Rangoon(Wantons) and tasty Drunken noodles made our day. The service was very quick. Decor is very cute and subtle. The place is small and crowded. Not suitable for peaceful gatherings but the food is absolutely worth the chaos. There is atleast 15 min waiting time on weekend dinners.
Excellent food with perfect taste and flavors. The price was right and more than reasonable. The quantity was substantial as well. We had the pad Thai and the green curry. We enjoyed both as it’s been difficult to find a good Thai place in the city.

Only got the crispy rolls for appetizer and Khao Soi for entree. Both were just ridiculously good. Spring rolls should always taste that fresh and crunchy, and the Khao Soi is so creamy and flavorful I can’t stop thinking about it. No complaints, just make a reservation.
The decor and ambience are quite tasteful. The prices are reasonable & portions ample. My friend and I loved our dishes & the Thai Iced Coffee (nice & strong). Our other friend found the pad Thai extremely sweet- we had a sample & agreed. We felt sorry for the server as she was the only person working besides the cooks and it was one hour. I would definitely return here and try something else on the menu.
Gives off a warm vibe. The food is not served all at once which is assuring that they have plating my food and not heating the dishes to serve. I like how the pictures from the reviews and website are consistent. I loved the good and might come once again especially for Khao Soi (vegetarian). FYI: They stop taking people in just about 30 mins before their closing time and apparently don't do reservations. Luckily we went early this one time and only had to wait for 15 mins or so. The staff is really warm, always greet you with a smile every time you have eye contact and ask if you need anything. Around rush hours and closing time, they usually do a last call for you to order but still drop in once or twice to confirm which is really sweet. Been a while since I reviewed any eatery but Thai Spice is so worth my time ;)
I went here on Saturday afternoon and it was certainly popular; I had to wait 15 min for a table. I ordered drunken noodles at level 5 spice and honestly it wasn’t bad. My main disappointment with the restaurant comes with the portion sizes. I felt like it was a bit low but you can decide for yourself.
OVERALL: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 5/5 - Clean & Fresh The food was absolutely amazing. The best Thai food I have eaten in the city. We had - Samosa - Crispy and piping hot. Served with a sweet cucumber/onion salad - Drunken Noodles - We had the vegetable version. Delicious! - Spicy Basil Chicken - Minced chicken and bell peppers. Yummy! - Green Curry - Vegetable version. So light and fragrant. For such a wonderful place, it was unfortunate that the service was not up to par with the food and ambiance. They seemed under staffed as the service was very slow and distracted. They forgot one of the item we ordered (and did not apologize for it). Overall the lack of good service took away from the entire experience. I hope they can correct this issue as I love the food. 9-14-2023 - Dinner - Table for 3

The food reaches the standard of well-prepared Thai. Use of quality ingredients is apparent in clean taste. The price point, however, seems to cover more for the cleverly designed West Elm-meets-Bangkok interior rather than an above-and-beyond menu. Thai Boat Noodle Soup, as expected — nothing above or below ordinary. Crispy Roll, not so different from regular vegetarian egg rolls. All together, $30 before tax and tip. A nice option for a slightly elevated Thai experience that doesn’t necessarily break the bank; but a bit pricey still.
They have some innovative dishes you normally wouldn’t see from a typical Thai restaurant. The ‘khao soi’ is flavorful on the sweet side. The beef-over-rice-whose-name-is-too-long-to-remember is perfectly cooked but lacks a little seasoning. All the dishes I ordered are not spicy enough to my taste. For reference, my spicy tolerance level is only slightly above average.

solid casual thai restaurant in russian hill serving the classics. will hit the spot if you’re craving thai food but nothing too memorable. papaya salad: tasty and refreshing, fairly spicy so watch out chicken pad see ew: solid dish
Be careful when paying by credit card — unauthorized charges!!! Overall, I was very disappointed with the service, and this experience was upsetting. I would recommend the food, but the service was extremely disappointing. Paid by credit card.At first, the bill already included a 20% tip, which I noticed and questioned. After that, the staff changed it and asked me to enter the payment myself. I chose not to leave a tip. However, I later discovered that the staff added a tip on my bill without my consent. We were only three people, and the menu states that a 20% tip applies only to parties of five or more. No receipt was provided at the time of payment. I only noticed the unauthorized charge later when reviewing my credit card statement. I have filed a credit card dispute regarding this unauthorized charge. This matter is being pursued through the appropriate consumer and billing channels.

I have passed by many times, during lunch and they are always busy. Website photos look de-lish. Simple decor, pretty, immaculately clean. Took a friend for a BD lunch 1/22 @ 1:00. Only 1 other table at that time. Service was almost too fast, but not very attentive once the food was delivered. We had Crispy rolls - Rate 3/4 $12.50, one big roll = 6 small pieces 1 Pad Thai w/Shrimp - Rate 4 3 Thai IT = $19.50 - Rate 3, not very strong Thai flavor, just orange milk 1 Drunken Noodle = $16.50 - Rate 2, absolutely flavorless 1 Choo Chee Salmon = $23.95 - Rate 5, the best of all the food we ordered. Lot's of vegetable, the best sauce I have ever had. Just wish it had "come with" rice, so we ordered some $3.00 2 Sweet Sticky Rice w/Mango = $24.00 - Rate 3. Nice presentation, lots of Mango, but it wasn't ripe and it was hard. Not worth $12 Each Total for 3 = $130.29 + $20 = $150 A wee bit overpriced and nothing to write home about, IMO. I just won't be going back.
My experience at Thai Spice was a mix of frustration and potential. While most of the staff were friendly and doing their best to be helpful, the restaurant felt like it was operating in a state of disorganized chaos due to a clear lack of leadership. Despite having a booking, we faced a long wait before being acknowledged. While many team members were kind, we encountered significant rudeness from one or two individuals when we raised a concern about a dish. This inconsistency, combined with the high-pressure 75-minute dining limit, made for a stressful evening. It’s a shame, as the hardworking staff are being let down by poor management. There are many other Thai spots in SF where the experience is much more cohesive. I would love to get my money back!
Super super spicy and the mango sticky rice came with stale mangoes!! This used to be once my go to Thai place but after the last experience I am never going to order from here.
