Opinions de Frascati San Francisco
We came here to celebrate my birthday the staff was so nice & the lighting were we sat was dim & romantic I couldn't take to many good photos because of that but everything we ordered tasted amazing! We started with the Brussel sprouts they were perfectly cooked & seasoned. Then my husband chose the pork chop for dinner & he said it was probably one of the best pork chops he's ever had not too much fat and cooked to perfection! I got the salmon & omg it was yummy! It was a nice big piece & cooked to where the skin had an really nice crisp to it! For dessert we chose the cinnamon apple cobbler & it came with vanilla ice cream! Since it was my birthday they gave it to us with a candle! Even that was delicious! The iced cream paired so well with it! I will definitely be coming back next time we're in town!!
Phenomenal! One of the best dining experience in San Francisco. My friend is vegetarian and I was a bit unsure as the menu is not exactly vegetarian friendly. I was wrong, big time... All vegetarian appetizers we ordered were amazing! Burrata - the sweet and slight tartness of the caramelized apricot compliments with smooth cheese perfectly. Bruschetta - the toasted bread is dipped in honey lightly. The subtle sweet taste brings out flavor of the topping and crunchiness of the bread. For entree, I asked whether the pappardelle can be made in vegetarian version, for two of us to share. The waiter asked about our situation(one vegetarian, one non vegetarian), and offered to make half order in vegetarian, half order in non vegetarian. How kind! And turned out half order was plenty! Panna cotta - so smooth and creamy. Ambience is classic, intimate and romantic, especially if you go upstairs to the attic. Dim candlelight lighting. It is a little dark though, so I didn't take pictures. But makes it perfect as a date spot. Highly recommend! Can't wait to come back!
Great Italian restaurant with top-class gourmet cuisine. This is a quaint classy restaurant that prepares fresh Italian food at a decent price. The service here is great and consistent but not overbearing. The confit was great and the desert was amazing. I think I found a new favorite in San Francisco.
While walking in the streets on Russian Hill two weeks ago I came across this little place Frascati which immediatly got my attention. Later in the day I got a booking for a table and in the evening we enjoyed our dinner served by our Swiss-compatriot waiter from the Wallis with French conversation! The food, in particular the Risotto was cooked to perfection and starter and desert have been delicous. A nice and small local place in a off-touristic area, to recommend!
We went to Frascati for our wedding anniversary; Service, food and experience was excellent! Very attentive staff and would highly recommend
We happened on this restaurant. It was a lovely experience. Shared 3 appetizers, delicious Brussels, bread basket, cheese plate.husband had seafood chowder, fantastic! Two of us had the roasted chicken with fingerling potatoes, spinach ,carrots and the most delicious sauce. Both loved it. Other two loved the fettuccine with bolognese. Then the best apple crisp and a decadent bread pudding. Homemade icecream superb! Best of all was the fantastic charming waiter , would not hesitate to go again !
Loved Frascati! We’re traveling from out of town and it was the best meal we’ve had…and the service was impeccable and the owners gave a special touch for my husband’s birthday. I highly recommend the gnocchi, the watermelon salad, the steak and the pork chop. Everything was so tasty. This will be our regular spot when we are in town.
This review is lonnnng overdue. I’ve been coming to Frascati for years, and absolutely adore this place. Over the years I have dined in and I’ve taken my meals to go, and Frascati is always delicious. My go-to dish is the half chicken - it is THE best chicken around. I’m sure other menu items are equally as delicious but I got hooked on the chicken in 2017 and haven’t gotten anything else since. Frascati is great for so many different things, from a casual night out to a special meal before the symphony. But whatever you do, just make sure you get the chicken. John and Rebecca (owners) are absolute gems of human beings and we love having them in our neighborhood.
This is easily in the top 5 best meals I've had in my 30+ years of existence. Everything in the roasted half chicken came together in a perfect symphony that spoke to my soul. The meal had me soul searching, wondering how things like how do you get a potato to taste like *that*? Truly amazing food. But that's not all. The staff was superb - welcoming and friendly. There were great conversations that didn't interrupt my dinner but showed they were human too and cared about what they were doing. We were able to speak to one of the owners and you can truly tell it's a labor of love. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for an enlightening good experience in a comfy and welcoming atmosphere.
Just looking for a nice quiet place for dinner when we stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant and its amazing staff. It took them exactly .03 seconds to invite us in. All smiles and friendly greets not only to the guests but the people passing by. The food was of course excellent. Strongly recommend the Duck Confit Risotto. You’re well taken care of here.
Perfect dinner out. Dishes were perfectly sized so you could enjoy the delicious flavors from each course without over doing it. Owners and entire staff were very friendly and made us feel at home.
Frascati is always such a delight! We haven’t had a disappointing experience or dinner. Always so amazing. Have the homemade cream for dessert! Wow. 😮
I dined here last night & what an incredible experience it was from the time I walked in the door until I left. The food was amazing and the dessert was absolutely delicious! The staff were great and the owners are phenomenal, & so nice & attentive! Rebecca I can’t thank you enough for your genuine hospitality and excellent restaurant experience! I will definitely be back! If you’re ever in the San Francisco area, this restaurant is a must to include in your itinerary during your trip!
This was just what I needed. It felt like I was the only one here who didn’t live in the neighborhood. The pasta was homemade and the bolognese sauce couldn’t have been tastier. Great wine selection. Yummy cheese plate with good combination of flavors and variety. Absolutely lovely and memorable evening.
Excellent Italian restaurant in Russian Hill. Charming corner space with cable cars zipping by outside. It doesn't get more San Francisco than Frascati and the food was delicious too!
My favorite neighborhood spot in Russian Hill. Food is great, desserts homemade and John / Rebecca (owners) are super hospitable. Wait staff is wonderful.
This might be my new favorite/go to neighborhood spot. The food, ambiance, and service is amazing. I’ll definitely be back!
I stumbled upon this gem during a foggy, windy walk home in 2007 and since that day I have always counted on Frascati to take me in out of the cold and make the night delicious! The room is cozy, vibrant and welcoming plus the wine selection is excellent with a really great olive plate to pair with. Then, there's the roasted half-chicken: After almost twenty years it's still the best chicken in the world to this weary walker of the foggy hills! I used to live across the street, but return here from Colorado several times a year on business. It just doesn't get better 🤘🏻(Do try the bread pudding!)
Great Italian food with warm, inviting service at a neighborhood institution. If you are looking for a excellent food and service and a true San Francisco feel it's worth the trip!
Ok, I know this is long but I have to say it all. I like to consider myself a foodie. I make many Italian dishes. My friends agree I'm pretty good. It's my favorite cuisine. Ok, with that run up what's my honest review? I almost never give reviews unless it's an incredible restaurant; and this one was! I always worry that the dishes I'll get at a fine dining restaurant will not be as good as I can or have made; but I have to honestly admit that Frascati overwhelmed us. The dishes were better than I've made! Not only the food but the service and the hospitality! I felt like I lived in the neighborhood and was welcomed by the owners. And the vibe? It's one of the reasons I choose to come here versus other places with more reviews. Cute does not describe the place; it's cozy, elegant and comfortable. Feels like you are in Italy. We never felt rushed. We had the lobster linguine and mushroom risotto. The best we've had in 5 years in the Bay Area. Attesting to that we ate every last bit! That's a first for us! Ok, I'm at risk of no one reading this because it's too long. Just go!
Amazing restaurant! The food is incredible, and the service is probably the best I've had at a restaurant. It's definitely a neighborhood place, and the owners seemed to know almost everyone who walked in by name. The chicken is awesome, and all the ice cream is homemade by the owner and is really great (especially the hazelnut!). You have to go to this restaurant; you won't be disappointed.
Went here for my second wedding anniversary! The food and staff were incredible! They gave us a complementary glass of wine to go along with dinner to celebrate the occasion. The place is a little bit crowded and I do recomend getting a reservation but they treat all their guests with the best service and experience they can provide. Thank you Frascati for making my anniversary so special.
This has been a favorite SF food establishment for 18 years for us. We loved coming to Frascati when we lived here. And returning after a decade of not going did not disappoint. The pork chop is still perfect, the risotto excellent, and the halibut was full of flavor and flakey light. And my wife got her long time favorite chocolate bread pudding.
I had a dinner here with my friends. I loved their great service; our waiter was wonderful and provided very personalized experience. Their food was so delicious and they have very cozy atmosphere.
For my 70th birthday, my in-laws took all 5 of us to Franscati. We had seen the restaurant at the corner of Hyde and Green whilst riding the Cable Car from Ghirardelli Square. Everyone inside stopped eating, and waved - it looked festive, good reviews...we took a chance. Frascati is a POPULAR NEIGHBORHOOD restaurant, with GREAT service, GOOD food, and FESTIVE atmosphere. Old school SF neighborhood place - IYKYK We had such a good time, we rescheduled our 40th anniversary dinner from a steakhouse to Franscati. The owners - host and hostess [both pros] - remembered us, and seated us in the front so our grandson could see the Cable Car. I can't see how the service could have been better. Hate to use the word "magical," but I can only think of one other time where hit this level of perfection - everyone had an enjoyable and care free time - with no disappointments. I can personally attest to the following food - 5+: Filet mignon, gnocchi, chicken, beet salad, ice cream (made in house)
It was my first time in San Francisco & I happened to walk by this restaurant on my way to a bookstore. I felt compelled to stop in for a glass of wine and it was the best decision of my trip. The food, atmosphere, and especially the service were all top tier. It has a romantic & cozy neighborhood vibe - and you can even watch the cable cars go by if you sit by the windows! I would definitely go out of my way to come back here again. In the meantime, I’ll just be dreaming of their Almond Toffee Panna Cotta until that day comes! 🤤
What a fun night! This was a repeat visit since it was so warm, welcoming and delicious the first time. They did not disappoint on this return visit. It definitely is a local favorite on Russian Hill. How fun to be a local for the night. Food was spectacular and wine choices divine. Don’t miss out on a true Italian experience.
Myself and 3 coworkers were in town for a work conference and we decided to ensure we try local restaurants. Frascati was absolutely fabulous. The food was extremely delicious the atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant is right on the cable car route and that gave it an extra special touch. The service was fantastic. By far one of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Thank you Rebecca and Jon, if I make my way back to San Francisco I will definitely be back!
This restaurant just became our favorite go to! We celebrated our 24 wedding anniversary here last evening. From the moment we entered, everything was perfect. Rebecca and Jon, the owners, absolutely make it all magical. We ordered wine from one of our favorite Italian regions, Montefalco. We then ordered the fettuccine with beef bolognese and the roasted half chicken. The chicken was beyond amazing and so very flavorful. The fettuccini pasta was so light and the flavors were just what we were looking forward to enjoying. Since we normally don’t order deserts, we were ready to decline until we learned that Rebecca creates the deserts and personally makes the ice creams. We had the cinnamon apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream - WOW! We are already planning our next visit!
Over the top cute neighborhood Italian bistro. Authentic staff and festive environment. Food is served hot!
Just wow! Fantastic dinner and dessert upstairs.
The owners treated us like we were family! Service was impeccable! Food was cooked to perfection. Big portions, we both had left overs for another meal! Prices are more than reasonable!
This is a wonderful, elegant yet cozy restaurant with delicious food, nice portions and fabulous service. Ordered the potato gnocchi, fettuccine with ragu meat sauce, salad and apple cobbler and was not disappointed.
We started our meal with a cheese plate, which was very good. We also had the Russet Potato Gnocchi, which was tasty, but I thought the thyme overpowered the white truffle oil. We also had a salad and they were nice enough to put the almonds on the side per our request, since my husband is allergic. For our entrees, my husband had the Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, which he said was delicious. I had the Pan Seared Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly medium as I had ordered. I enjoyed the vegetables and the red wine demi. For dessert, I had the lemon pavlova, which was the first time I had pavlova. The consistency took me by surprise but it was delicious. My husband had the peach-blueberry cobbler, which was a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The courses were perfectly timed. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. We were seated between the bar and the windows. The restaurant was a little loud at times because of some other patrons but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. The prices were appropriate for fine dining but not overly expensive. Overall, we had a very nice dinner and would probably return if we visit San Francisco in the future.
Came here for a light dinner and had a very enjoyable time. The restaurant has some character and good but intimate vibe. The gnocchi starter was delicious. I also tried the octopus salad, which was nicely prepared. Service was attentive.
Totally awesome. Quaint and quiet neighborhood restaurant. Yelp said no reservations were available but we walked in and there was lots of seating. Sidewalk was a great outdoor spot on this hot Saturday. Had great wine, delicious bread, superb garlic gnocchi and excellent lamb pasta. Many small restaurants like this serve good food but this one was outstanding. Deserts look good too but historic Swenson's is just up at the end of the block. Just saying.

My Fiancé and I truly loved our experience at this restaurant. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, and we were treated with such warmth and attention throughout the evening. Everything felt thoughtful and welcoming. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning.
The food was amazing... the halibut was perfect and the house-made panna cotta was the best I've ever had. But what really impressed me was the service. 3 or 4 different waitstaff tended to me, and all knew that my coffee was decaf, even though I only told one of them. The atmosphere was cozy... love the window seats where you can watch the cable cars go by. I don't ever write reviews, but this restaurant truly inspired me.
I will continue my dad´s legacy, and open an italian restaurant in Brazil, my dad was the first owner and the one who built frascati, Luigi Dominici, we are living in Brazil, and I am infinitly proud of him, all I have to say is that Frascati is 10/10, and I wish all the best!

Excellent and friendly service. I recommend the pork belly because it is very flavorful and tender. The one thing I disliked was the bathroom. A very very small room with a sink as big as a medium sized dinner plate. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly but will be around 70 dollars per person assuming that you get an entree, main course, dessert and alcoholic beverage.
Really enjoyed this spot overall. The food was excellent and the service attentive. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with beautifully crisped skin and great flavor. The risotto was rich and creamy while still having just the right bite, and the wine pairings worked very well. That said, the burrata appetizer was a real letdown. At $16 for just two pieces (with stale bread, no less), it felt underwhelming and overpriced, especially if you’re sharing. For a group of three or four, it just doesn’t make sense to serve it that way. Overall, a great experience thanks to the main dishes and service.
Every dish was decent, the most stunning one being the shrimp scampi 👍🏼
