Came here for a nice catchup with a friend. Good: - Food came out super quickly! - I liked the special noodles -I got a creamy udon and it was so good and it came with soup and salad too. I liked the miso soup a lot but the bowl was pretty small. - The staff were nice and speedy with ordering Bad: - Super casual vibes - The portion sizes are on the smaller side Overall this place is a nice quick food spot, you can get a lot of different food items and I'd try more next time

Killer casual Japanese curry in the Mission district. The signature curry bowl was a slam dunk (we tried both the pork cutlet and chicken katsu — slight preference for the chicken). It was pretty sweet but the table had five different spices to add in, making it easy to get exactly the level of fire you want. The portion was generous and since they don’t have a large menu, the food came out quickly. It’s a killer spot for a warm homey meal if you need food and you need it STAT.

This place is consistently delicious and never fails to hit the spot, with generous portions that are perfect for sharing, or for keeping leftovers. I especially love their corn potage soup; it’s incredibly comforting and warming, making it an ideal choice on a chilly San Francisco day. Beyond the soup, everything we’ve tried from the menu has been flavorful and satisfying, with just the right balance of spices and richness. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a hearty meal, whether you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner.

Nice and neat space. Attentive staff. Prolly the best bathroom i’ve ever seen. Got the chicken karage curry udon. Really flavorful and good portion size but it was boiling hot burnt my mouth on the first sip🥲. Overall, it was really good food for the price. Will visit again :)

Rating: 4.6/5 [dine in] Service was great, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant itself is a bit run-down and could use some repairs, but the food more than makes up for it. Note that they do charge a 4% SF Healthy Mandate fee, and some of the menu prices don't match up with what they charge. We definitely over-ordered and had plenty of leftovers, but we left super satisfied! Beef Hayashi Om-Rice ($17): Thinly sliced beef simmered in a European-style gravy sauce, served over egg and white rice. This was delicious—especially the gravy. Teppanji Chicken ($8.50): Sizzling chicken with onion-infused namban sauce. Wow—this was one of the best fried chicken dishes I've had in a long time. Huge, flavorful pieces fried to perfection. I actually enjoyed this more than the tonkatsu. Tonkatsu Pork À La Carte ($6): Their tonkatsu paired perfectly with the curry sauce. The pork slices are thick, with a nicely crisp breaded coating. Note the price on the menu doesn't match ($5). Menchi Katsu À La Carte ($4): Minced pork cutlet with the same breading as the tonkatsu. Simple but good. Note the price on the menu doesn't match ($3.50). Curry Sauce on the Side ($4.50): Fire! Tasted homemade and distinctly different from the curry cubes you'd find at the supermarket. Matcha Nigori Bottle ($10.50): So good and worth it! Tasty and enough for 2–3 people to share.

12/17/2024* We tried their katsu curry udon, which is surprisingly good! Highly recommend it. I ordered their Karaage Curry Rice Entree, which features caramelized onion curry served with shredded cabbage, creamy potato salad, and Fukujin pickles. We also tried their Teppanji, sizzling chicken with onion-infused namban sauce, which was really flavorful and tender. 6/24/2024 I ordered their Karaage Curry Rice Entree, which features caramelized onion curry served with shredded cabbage, creamy potato salad, and Fukujin pickles. We also tried their Teppanji, sizzling chicken with onion-infused namban sauce, which was really flavorful and tender. For those who love spice, Curry Hyuga offers five different options: Bird's eye, serrano pepper, jalapeno pepper, pequin pepper, and wiri wiri pepper. Personally, I found the wiri wiri pepper and bird's eye powder to be exceptional choices. Their spiciness elevates the curry to a whole new level, enhanced by the unique fragrance of the peppers!

Ordered the Classic Pork Katsu-Don set. This is served with rice, tori-jiru chicken miso soup, and sunomono salad. This is a pretty large portion so it’s great if you’ve got a big appetite; if you have a smaller to regular appetite, you may end up with leftovers or you may want to share the main pork tonkatsu. The miso soup was very warming for your body and the salad which consisted of cucumbers, shrimp, and seaweed had a crisp taste. The pork tonkatsu was delicious, the pork outer layer maintained its crispiness and it was firm and savory. The pickled radish on the side was also crisp and sweet to break through the fattiness of the pork. The omelet-style egg and grilled onions were very good too. Service was fast and the crowd picks up during the dinner rush, there were a lot of food delivery pickup orders so it seems this spot is very popular too. This was a pleasant place to check out and is definitely great for those craving a hot Japanese comfort meal.

In a cold rainy night, Japanese curry will be a perfect food to warm ourselves. If you want an authentic Japanese curry, this is the place. I used to go to the one in Burlingame, but it always had lines of people waiting. Luck me that they have one in SFO. Last Friday was cold and raining hard and I wanted to have Japanese curry for dinner. I wanted to order to go, but I knew the quality will not be the same as fresh off the kitchen. I made an effort to come here by take a bus. I was right to come in person to have this amazing curry fried pork with rice. The portion of the pork was relatively big and nicely fried. I also had fried potato and corn soup as well. Crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. Same as fried potato. The night was cold, I should have asked to make the soup hotter. They also have little bottles of different levels of hot pepper spices on tables. Each bottle has a label telling you the level (1-5) of the hotness. Ghost pepper needs to be requested because that's the hottest. My suggestion is to try a little bit first before you decide you go crazy on it like I did with ghost pepper for the first time. I totally underestimated it. I sweated like a dog. I learned my lesson. Parking could be difficult especially at nights. It's close to an entrance of a freeway, so traffic can be expected. The services were great and I enjoyed talking to a guy whose in charge of that place. One thing I learned about this business was that the majority of food except rice, lettuce, sliced carrots, was prepped in a same place where all the food and curry are delivered to SFO, Burlingame, and Cupertino. That's why the quality of the curry and food are very consistent. Yes. It could be more money spent on the business, but to me as a former business owner, I would do the same to keep the good quality consistent. I definitely will come back to have some more. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Yes it's hard to find parking, but we gotta put some effort in order to have some good quality of Japanese curry. If you live in SFO, take a bus. If you drive, go a bit farther for parking.

Really flavorful Japanese curry with lots of customizable options, so glad to have a Japanese curry spot in this neighborhood. The service is friendly and efficient. Food was hot, quick and fresh. This place is definitely in my rotation now.

New SF location serving Japanese style curry dishes - other locations are in the South Bay. The curry is fairly sweet on its own, but it can be made spicy using a variety of ground peppers found at every table (from spice level 1 to 6). Most rice dishes come with a side of shredded cabbage, a scoop of potato salad, and fukujinzuke (pickled radish). The pork katsu has an amazing crispy crunch yet juicy on the inside. The karaage is also great and is offered with a tartar sauce that feels homemade. Reasonably priced for the neighborhood, great portions, friendly staff including a 10+ year veteran from the other location! I really enjoyed visiting their Burlingame location and glad they're now in SF. I'll be visiting again soon!

Simple food done well. Katsu curry and soba portions are huge and we couldn't finish both. The curry for katsu and soba are different, with the soba version being more soupy with a strong dashi (bonito) flavor. Grilled veggies are very good too. They have different kinds of chili powders with strength 1 (jalapeno) to 6 (habanero), all tasty.

Thrilled to have a new Japanese curry spot practically in my backyard! This cute little gem, just a short walk from my house, is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The cozy space, however, has limited seating which could mean a wait at times, but luckily we were seated right away. We started with some bites of karrage and a delicious corn potage soup, both of which I’d order again. Then I dove into the pork katsu-don. The portion was incredibly generous, with a perfectly crispy panko-crusted pork cutlet nestled in a rich, flavorful curry. The accompanying sides - a refreshing sunomono salad and a steaming bowl of miso soup - great complements to the meal. The only thing keeping this dish from a perfect score was the pork itself, which leaned a touch dry. A bit more juiciness in the meat would have sent it over the top. My partner had the tonkatsu pork curry and agreed with my sentiments. Overall, this new spot is a winner. Friendly service, delicious curry, and generous portions (I barely ate half my meal, it was huge!) make it a must-try, especially for those evenings when you crave a comforting, flavorful meal close to home. Pro-tip, ask for the spices. You’ll get a selection of heat from levels 1-6. Level 5 was my fav!

Ordered via Doordash. I got the chicken katsu curry with extra raw cabbage (free) and a side order of menchi Katsu (round in the picture). The chicken katsu was pretty good, the breading was fried a little too long for my liking and thicker than the thinner panko breading that I've had elsewhere. The curry roux is good and I wish there was more without having to pay extra for it. This is my first time trying menchi Katsu and it has a thick, almost hard breading which I didn't like- inside it was soft meat and cabbage filling similar to a pork and vegetable bun. I don't think I would get the menchi again.

Curry Hyuga took over the place where Roku used to be. The interior still resembles the prior layout but the place has a nice coat of fresh paint and some decorative elements. It offers a nice clean inviting look and the staff is super attentive. The menu at the moment offers only a few items but they are served up in huge quantities. I don't remember seeing portions of such size in SF as of late. Maybe that is a promotional way to attract customers. No complaints here . Price to quantity and price to quality is in the customers favor. I hope they can maintain that level and expand on their menu and make it a bit more well rounded in the coming days. Job well done

New restaurant serving primarily japanese curry’s. Ordered from Doordash and thought it was tasty! Portions are a little small but the flavor is there. Appreciate the separate containers to keep the pork crispy. overall, would come again but volcano curry is still better for a lower price pork katsu curry: level 3 spice was perfect. the katsu was fried perfectly and amazing. liked the potato salad but wish there were veggies in the curry itself. small portions vs volcano curry

Pork tonkatsu is wonderful — super crispy and thick and not too oily. The beef omurice was fine though, and my friend found the udon too hot.

Just picked up my 4 curry orders, I called making sure Tonkasu were not put in the same box as the curry and rice. They followed that. However, curry sauce spilled all over. I hold the bags without tilting them too much. They may want to invest on the take out container

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Got the classic chicken katsu and unfortunately it was underwhelming. katsu was a bot over fried with burnt edges. Curry had a lot a flavor but tasted more like a gravy than a curry.
