Opinions de Hamburger Haven San Francisco
This place is super cute and the food is really good! First impressions were that the place is a bit small but I loved the service and food. Personally I got the California burger and it was delicious. They had Spanish and English speaking workers. The wait time is really short since there's not many people at all times. Definitely recommend!!
I had the French toast with a side of bacon and eggs. The place has a nice vibe to it, calm and relaxed. You can also see the chefs at work if you sit near the front windows. The meal was promptly delivered and it tasted great, French toast was a good pick. I am definitely going to come again!
Great vibes to get a burger before a concert.
1 Visit. Great hamburgers! Nothing unusual, nothing gourmet, just a basic hearty burger with lots of add on options. The atmosphere is classic breakfast diner and I want to go back for breakfast.
Super good diner experience in the city! Great countertop and small booths vibes, super friendly service and tasty food. I got the Irish breakfast, it was my first time trying Irish bacon and sausage, and it was super tasty. Funnily enough, it seemed like more people were getting breakfast than hamburgers here.
Awesome spot. I really loved the classic interior and seating! But the food and service is also great and I would stop by more often if I lived in the area :)
Classic diner with San Francisco prices. Onion rings were good. I appreciated the California salad, which had a generous avocado portion - will come again to try the burgers.
It's great! You'll find seniors, families, and everyone in general LIKES this restaurant! It's the only family restaurant in the neighborhood! Service is great! The staff is very likeable and very personable! The owner is a great human being, who truly cares about his customers! You can sit at the counter and watch your food being prepared! Very clean! It's a fun place to go! My 92-year-old Mom loves it! Me, too! You can call ahead and place your order! They are open 7:30AM to 2:30PM, Monday through Friday! Saturday and Sunday their hours are 7:30AM to 9:00PM! They offer a mouth-watering salmon fillet or delicious steak fillet for dinner, along with a freshly cooked vegetable, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a huge delectable salad! Dessert offerings are your choice of cheesecake with fresh fruit on top or a nice slice of pumpkin pie with or without whipped cream! Yum! Cheers!
It had been a few years since I last visited and it’s even better than I remembered. I haven’t seen teamwork like that in ages and was impressed that the whole staff really enjoyed working together. It translates to the food- delivering American classics well, affordably and with a smile. Also totally impressed with how sparkling clean the place was despite being very busy on a Sunday morning.
Classic diner. Very period-correct inside, you'd think you're in Pulp Fiction! Great food with super attentive staff. Coffee cup is always full. Kitchen is spotless and fast. Skip the eggs benedict, though.
My favorite go to diner. I’m so happy it’s back open. I love the breakfast menu but I also love the variety of options of the home cooked old style American diner. Its the kind of place that reminds me of going out to eat with my Grandmother as a child. Great fast service and great home cooked meals. A San Francisco gem.
A nostalgic place to eat and have a great bite to eat. The Irish breakfast and the Denver omelet were superb. Also the home fries is a must have with any oder in the breakfast menu. Gotta come back to sample their burger and sandwich menu.
I love this place. A genuine hole in the wall but in the best sense. A neighborhood staple, with no frills, just damn good burgers!
Love love love this spot. My husband and I come here for breakfast regularly and it’s always consistently good. The service is amazing the staff is super friendly and the vibes are immaculate.
I love come here anytime morning. Coffee great and breakfast excellent.
Great service, the server knew everything when I asked him about what was better a burger or Irish ham plate sandwhich. Will def make it one of my families main options.
This was my first experience of an American style diner. The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful, making me feel right at home. The portions were generous—far more than I expected—and the coffee kept flowing throughout my meal. The food was delicious and really hit the spot. Overall, it ticked all of my boxes, and I’ll definitely be back for another visit!
Overall 5/5: Food 5; Went for breakfast and it was as expected for a casual breakfast. Pancakes were fluffy, sausages where crisp outside and juicy inside. We appreciated how the cook was able to make adjustments without hesitation or additional charges. Service 5; Very attentive, coffee was constantly refilled. Atmosphere 5; Nostalgic
the country potatoes was excellent! i got it as a side with the dave's special of scrambled eggs and veg. the ambiance is nice and so is the service.
This is the perfect diner breakfast spot. Nice staff, decent coffee and good food. They have a decent breakfast deal with $9.99 two pancakes, two sausage links (or bacon) and two eggs cooked your way.
Cozy spot with bomb food. Super nice waitress made me feel good eating here.
I went to Hamburger Haven with a couple friends and was pleasantly surprised by how cute it was inside. This diner is one of those restaurants that makes you feel like you have gone back in time. I do not really go to diners much but there is something real comforting about going to a wholesome diner. When we sat ourselves down at a table, my friend and her boyfriend ordered a Irish breakfast and Denver omelette while I ordered a California omelette with avocado, bacon, tomatoes, and jack cheese in it. I found it hilarious that my friend's boyfriend literally devoured his omelette. Yet, if you can base off how good a place is off of that, it is a pretty good sign, right? Sometimes I think the less said, the better. The omelette and hash browns, while simple, could not have been anymore solid and filling.
Ordered a mushroom cheese burger for lunch, it came with fries. The burger bun was so delicious. Portion-wise, it was pretty sufficient to feed an adult male. Cost-wise, it was average, not cheap but not particularly expensive. Staff were very friendly and there were quite a bit of varieties in the menu.
When I go to SF I stay near Clement St and my friend brings me to HH for the best breakfast in the City! But they have great sandwiches and a whole menu of good stuff. Don't miss Joe's Special!
Hash browns was really good. I had a Joe's special. I was also curious about Irish bacon which I like certainly more than Canadian bacon but not as much as American bacon but it tasted good specially well done.

My daughter loves this place. From her: This place is beautiful and homey, I’ve been coming here for the last 3 years on my birthday! Staff are great, the food is super tasty 🤩🤩🤩🤩😝. I suggest coming here, super cute and layed back. There are many delicious items on the menu!
Very traditional American dinary with very calm and friendly atmosphere. We had a breakfast here once, and that was tasty and affordable. The stuff is very friendly too. Recommend.
Been coming to this spot since the 80’s and it still doesn’t disappoint. The burgers are huge and fresh. Friendly service and a welcoming vibe.
Hamburger Haven is a much needed hidden gem in the Inner Richmond. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the place oozes old school eatery charm. My tip is to come for dinner during the weekend as they stay open until 9pm Saturday and Sunday. Weekend mornings are usually very busy and it can be hard to get a table but the evenings are nice and quiet so it's perfect for a cozy and casual dinner date.

2026-02-06 .. had the 2s for breakfast. Asked the chef if he could do a 2 egg sufley vs a scramble. Said No 😞
Pretty good spinach veggie omelet and chocolate chip pancakes with berries. I just wish they had other non-porato based side options and that the omelet wasn't so greasy. Seating for bigger groups could be improved as well. Overall pretty decent place for breakfast.
Classic Dinner in the Richmond district? Has the advantage that serves breakfast all day, all the dishes are made to order and great tasty, the service always kind, a little bit pricey but its worth it, plus it’s dog friendly
Been a neighborhood staple now for years, glad to see them open again. It used to be pretty cheap, but with the past few years everything has gone up in price. Still, a good place for a bite to eat.
First time back since renovation. Everyone there was very nice. Place looks just like before , and the food is good. The onion rings are the best! Just like how I remembered.

My husband said, "This place isn't called Biscuits and Gravy Haven." Just stick with the burgers. My breakfast of biscuits and gravy was lackluster. I would rank it below my university cafeteria's take. The gravy was completely flavorless and watery, and the biscuits disintegrated underneath it. Loved the atmosphere and staff. Super cozy.
Food was good and service was nice and peaceful. Spending 30 dollars for two tiny pancakes two eggs and two pieces of bacon is ridiculous though. Looks like they almost doubled the prices in the last couple of years.
Mediocre at best. Over-poached eggs, split hollandaise, unseasoned country potatoes. Husband’s biscuit was tiny, my daughter’s scrambled eggs were watery and topped with a slice of American cheese. Coffee was good and refills plentiful, but service was otherwise inattentive. All in our party of four found ourselves wishing we’d gone elsewhere.

We had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant. Our server was unprofessional and overly opinionated from the start. The food arrived late, and two of the kids’ meals came out only after everyone else had finished eating. When I raised the issue, the server shockingly responded that he “didn’t care.” Later, when I told him it was the first time a server had ever said that to me, he replied, “The way you came at me, you shouldn’t expect better.” Beyond the poor service, the food was underwhelming and the restaurant had an unpleasant smell throughout. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had—unacceptable on every level.
If you leave a not so glowing review for this place someone who works there will contact and attack you personally about your age, weight, sex and anything else they can think of. Including accusing you of having a mental illness. They will even get their kids to insult and slur you in voice messages. What they won't do is address the issues you had with the food.
