While the area may be sketchy if you aren’t used to the Mission district, the food is delicious and very affordable. They have all the Filipino classics like sisig, Pork BBQ, lumpia, and pancit
I had a great experience as a first time customer. I showed up with a big order only an hour before closing time. I thought I would be turned away, but they were so accommodating and made my food anyway. Then when it was time to pay, I was so surprised at how inexpensive the food was. I thought maybe it wouldn't taste good. But again I was pleasantly surprised. The food was AMAZING and a big hit with my kids who hadn't eaten much Filipino food in the past. I will DEFINITELY be going back.
MUCH better than it looks from the outside or casual observation. As a former restaurant reviewer, I pride myself on being able to estimate the food quality of a restaurant by just looking it over, and I'm usually right. My Filipino spouse and I had considered this restaurant while living in the Castro area for a number of years but always decided, "Well, no; just doesn't look that good." But finally this Sunday he wanted to introduce me to to a Filipino breakfast and Irma's was early open. so we gave it a pessimistic try. But to our delight! the several items of meat, fish, rice and noodle dishes were not just OK but excellent, enjoyable and VERY generous quantities at modest prices. Lumpia was delicious, crisp and tasty; barbecued skewered pork was well seasoned and cooked well as were the fried noodles and the rice fried with a bit of Filipino twist and the crispy fried milkfish was delicious. Only downside was they don't serve hot drinks including coffee and tea. As a Management Professor I would suggest they spend a relatively small amount for sprucing up the decor inside and out (though it is clean and neat even now), and they could then raise their prices by a third and still get more customers. But enjoy the bargain for now –– and come hungry :)
Simply amazing. Food had lots of flavor and there were a lot of options to choose from. One plate was not enough, I had to go back for seconds. Will definitely be back again!
Near 16th BART. Unpretentious, bare-bones interior and the area is sketchy but... The food is consistent, authentic, freshly cooked, generous portions and VERY reasonably priced. I appreciate the rich variety and the garlic rice alone is worth the visit. Lunchtime is your best bet for the full selection - stuff goes fast as it gets later in the day. The staff is delightfully interesting, quirky and colorful (so is the clientele). Dishes are full of SOUL (if you catch my drift), Filipino home cookin' for real.
used to live next door to this place at 16th & Mission. (actually the corner is at16th/ S. Van Ness but the neighborhood is called 16th & Mission) and this place is SO GOOD! I grabbed breakfast there nearly every day. A full meal of garlic rice (get there early, it runs out!) a fried egg and a skewer of THE BEST BARBEQUED CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD (and I'm originally from the South, so I know my bbq)... I mean crispy crispy juicy chicken chunks covered in their warm sweet homemade sauce bbq sauce... to die for... AND ALL FOR AROUND $5! (well this was like 12 years ago, but I doubt their prices have even gone up).. plus there is a sauce-bar with at least a dozen different kinds of strange and wonderful Filipino sauces to try... try the vinegar-pepper sauce on your rice, some of the "bread sauce" and some of the "everything sauce". Irma ROCKS. she's super friendly and even used to try to set me up with her niece that worked there, lol.
This is my new favorite place for authentic Filipino food! It’s a 3-minute walk from the 16th & Mission BART station. The prices are great for the portion you get. I’ve tried the kare kare and daing na bangus and they remind me of my parents’ cooking. I think this place deserves way more hype.
We happened to come by and meet a friend which highly recommended this restaurant. We found out they have been here for a very long time. Lots of patrons, multi-ethnic people, usually mostly Filipinos or other cultures that are married to Filipino origin come and eat at Filipino eateries. Impressed, authentic Pampanga/kapampangan(culinary capital) food. We will deifintely be coming back.
Food is delicious, good prices.
I've eyeballed this place for ages and finally went in to try it today. neighborhood can be sketchy and the decor is outdated/minimalist/dive to the max. You go for the food, baby. $8 gets you rice plus 2 delicious sides. Portions are huge, and we loved every single item we tried. the lady behind the counter was very friendly and helped us make or selections. Don't pass up the skewered meat or the adobo chicken - AMAZING. we also had a dish that consisted mostly of various veggies (there were quail eggs in there too, which were yummy), and another that was a noodle dish. i can't wait to come back.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Irma's Pampanga, and it was an experience that left an indelible mark on my taste buds. Nestled on 16th Street in San Francisco, this restaurant is a culinary gem that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff at Irma's Pampanga are not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering valuable recommendations that heightened my dining experience. The menu is a delightful exploration of Pampangan cuisine, showcasing a rich tapestry of flavors and textures. I highly recommend starting with the Lumpiang Shanghai, a crispy and flavorful spring roll that sets the tone for the culinary journey ahead. The Sisig is another standout dish, perfectly balancing savory and tangy flavors, while the Kare-Kare boasts a luscious peanut sauce that left me wanting more. The attention to detail in the presentation of each dish reflects the passion and dedication of the chefs at Irma's Pampanga. Every bite felt like a celebration of authentic Filipino flavors, transporting me to the heart of Pampanga with each impeccably crafted dish. The ambiance of the restaurant is equally praiseworthy, with a cozy interior that complements the dining experience. Whether you're enjoying a meal with friends, family, or a special someone, Irma's Pampanga provides a welcoming setting for any occasion. In addition to the outstanding food and ambiance, the service was impeccable. The staff demonstrated genuine enthusiasm for sharing the best of Pampangan cuisine, enhancing the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Irma's Pampanga is a culinary treasure in San Francisco, offering a remarkable journey through the diverse and delectable flavors of Pampangan cuisine. If you're a fan of authentic Filipino food or simply looking to embark on a culinary adventure, do yourself a favor and visit Irma's Pampanga – it's an experience you won't soon forget.
Have been coming here for years, The food has always been incredible and affordable. Very casual, seat yourself, kind of spot. Great portions and the owners are the kindest people.
This place is so good! I had their sweet pork, some Barbacoa chicken, and something else that was a meat in sort of a gravy-like sauce. It was all so delicious and super generous portions for the price. Definitely recommend.
Clean, authentic delicious food, great staff and affordable prices. This is the Best and would consider authentic Filipeano restaurant in San Francisco. I have been searching for many years. I shall return! "Calamansie" juice devised and created by Irma herself. Very addictive juice. Salamat!
We had never been to a Filipino restaurant before and this turned out to be the best choice for lunch. We tried as many different items as we could and everything was so good. The service was excellent too!
Solid Filipino lunch counter (spotlessly clean) in the Mission, open mornings and afternoons for those seeking a hearty islander breakfast or an early start on lunch. Stews, stir-fries and rice/pancit ready for the taking for box lunch. Tiny hand-wrapped-on-premises lumpia Shanghai, tightly packed with porky goodness, crispy fried to joy. Going for 10 for $4, a steal. A neighborhood mainstay, well-worth and delicious.
I am Filipino and always order their 100 piece lumpia for parties. Extremely good value, tastes delicious and stays crunchy even when delivered. Highly recommend
Excellent Filipino food in SF. I feel the Filipino vibes from the people in the restaurant. Very warm and welcoming. They will not let you feel confused in ordering. I choose pork sisig, rice , and pampano. The turon is sooooo good. The serving of food is big. The price is affordable. I will come back again here to try other dish. :)) I am happy this place is close to UCSF in Mission bay.
Place looks really nicely updated. It has been remodeled and their food’s authentic Filipino cuisine. Had their vegetable tofu, pancit (Filipino noodles), garlic rice (steamed rice with roasted garlic), veggie roll and lumpia (skinny pork rolls). Also their cantaloupe drink was really good and had lots of fruit.
Irma’s has been my go to place to hit d spot whenever I’m homesick in the city. She’s so friendly & treats u like family. They have a wide variety of dishes & is never stingy with her ingredients & portions when serving. Trust that d food is always fresh, delicious & most importantly very affordable. Happy eating!
My favorite Filipino Restaurant in San Francisco! Super happy is just reopened! Food is absolutely fresh and delicious! Irma (the owner) and and all staff are very warm and inviting! Love everything from lumpia to chicken adobo!
I came to this restaurant for the first time and Sitas took very good care of me and my party. As a Filipino native, the food was on point and was as authentic as you can get; the serving sizes were also fantastic! The Calamansi juice was perfect, not too sweet and not too sour, better than what my mom makes at home. We had the garlic rice with our side dishes and it was also very good, not too oily. The star of the show for me was definitely their chicken skewers and their sisig! I’m definitely come back when we visit SF again and recommending this restaurant to anyone who wants a taste of some great, authentic Filipino food with great service :)
Can't go wrong with the price you pay for a great traditional Filipino cuisine. A staple of the mission area
This is “Grandma Food”. It’s homey and unpretentious, and clearly prepared with care. Stopped by for the first time ever and was thrilled to find bitter melon - yum! The price was fair and we chose three items with our rice. DELICIOUS. We will be back many many times!
Delicious seemingly authentic food, very filling and affordable. Seems like a very family-oriented neighborhood gem. Def coming back!
Friendly service and absolutely amazing food. I came because a client recommended it. Omg this is a sure to return place. Best portions per price I have seen all week.
Low-key Filipino spot, with fair priced food.

Food was great, good prices especially if you pay with cash. Every day it's something different on the menu. You have to ask Ate Irma when she will cook Kare Kare. It's worth the wait to get it. Me and a coworker go here for lunch 2-4x a month.

Very affordable. They give a lot of pancit for the combo plate - too much for me but appreciated. The people are very nice and the turon is good. I love the BBQ chicken but haven’t tried the adobo, or much else on the menu. Lumpia is small, crisp, and tastes. There’s indoor seating and they take card and cash.
This place was remodeled during the pandemic. Of course the prices went up to pay for the upgrade. I must admit that the place looks a lot cleaner & more appealing since it is on 16th street. I only get lumpia and Turon here. The food is ok so I pass. The bbq on a stick went from $2 to $3.25 I think, that's a huge increase.
3.5/5. Ordered the special combo. Spring roll and chow mi are pretty good. pork bbq is well seasoned but a little dry. Also have a bunch of fatty parts that don't go well with the lean parts. Decent quick takeout lunch
Awesome corner spot with decent prices and portions. I'm a massive fan of the sinigang, which is sour and savory, with perfectly tender pork and veggies. The adobo chicken is very rich, and the bbq skewers are well charred and sweet. I will definitely be back for more.

Not open today, 12/26. No sign on door.
Food was Ok, i ordered Inihaw na Pampano which is good, i remember i also ordered online before, the BBQ was tasty but i dont like the Pancit Bihon, some food item looks a bit oily not appetizing, if you like quick and ready filipino food in this area you can try Irmas.

I high-tailed it out of San Diego, where the Filipino food scene is on fleek, for Tucson, Arizona, where it's a total culinary desert. But, when I rolled into San Francisco, I was hankering for some authentic Filipino grub. Irma's popped up on my radar, and I thought I'd found the holy grail. But, boy, was I wrong! The sisig was a soggy, flavorless mess, and the place was a total dump. Old food was just chillin' in the fridge, and the tables looked like they'd never been cleaned. The lumpias were a total letdown, and the food was lukewarm at best. We ended up with a nasty case of food poisoning a few hours later. All in all, this place was a total bust. Find me harsh but there are no love & food connection. Never again, don’t ever want to recommend.

Do not call and order from this place. They will never have your order ready even though you place your order with ample time. Happened to me twice. The only thing that kept me coming back was to order the lumpia shanghai for catering and even then it made my stomach tight and constipated. All their food is too greasy for human consumption. Find better quality Filipino food and service elsewhere!!
The only thing I can say about this place is don’t go. You want to have a rude smug face staring at you then go here. You want crappy Filipino food go here. You want skimp plates come here. If not, then go up the street to 23rd and mission. Same type of food better service. Never again.
I visited this place and their chaffing pans were not kept over a heat source or above 140°which is required, so food borne illnesses don't form. They didn't have any heat on the food at all. When I ordered the food, the owner placed it on a plate and put it in the microwave for a minute. Hardly long enough to kill the bacteria that had been forming all along. Out of respect to my coworker and their culture, I ate the food. Not even two hours later I was showing signs of sickness. Now as I write this review, I am experiencing rancid gas. Do yourself a favor, do not eat at this place. Supposedly, the owner has been in business for 20 years. I wonder how many people she has made sick throughout this time. What a terrible establishment that doesn't care about their customers enough to feed them something healthy.
The service is horrible and unkind! I came here to order food, walked in and the people at the front just started at me with no acknowledgement. I waited and nothing. Finally I say “hi” to the lady behind the counter and she looks at me and frowns her face. I exited without ordering because clearly my business is not wanted here
They became stingy. Even after the complaint, they didn’t even bother, so no more from this place. The food ain’t even good for the price. I’d rather drive to Daly City FilAm for more food for your money, and tastes way better
Had the surprise bag $4.99 the lumpia was over cooked and the pork and one sausage were over cooked as well with fried rice. It is the lowest food choice they have and the surprise bag is their way of getting rid of it. Don’t get it it’s not worth it. I do not recommend it.
Low quality food all around. Relatively cheap but you get what you pay for. The place itself is filthy and a mess.
