Opinions de La Ciccia San Francisco
I hadn't been there in years and the food was better than I remember. I started with the sardines, a delicate taste served with a little tart wilted greens. For my main I had the lamb tenderloins. Finished it off with the three gelati (my favorite was the fig with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. My friend had the special pasta with pork and requested a smaller portion as her appetizer and had the shrimp. Delicious food and wonderful knowledgeable service Warning: it gets very loud and can be challenging to hear each other.
Such a charming, cozy restaurant. It was my second time dining at this establishment. We started with melt in your mouth, not too salty, 30-month aged prosciutto platter and a superbly dressed burrata and arugula salad. We shared the lamb dish which served two of us well. The flavor was deep and rich. It could have used a little more, "au jus" so to speak, but was still quite good. Service was excellent. Our wine choice, Pinot Bianco A.A. “Schulthauser” San Michele Appiano, 2022 suited all the flavors on the table.
This was an amazing place to get dinner! The gnocchi was to die for! Best gnocchi I have ever had! We also had the uni pasta, the calamari, the lamb, and some gelato and ricotta for dessert. After the gnocchi, my favorite was the calamari and from the gelato I loved the goat cheese and fig flavor. The team was also so so sweet, from the host to our amazing server Vadim, who had such great energy, to even the owner who came out to ask us about our dining experience. We had such a great time here with such friendly, warm service. Definitely recommend having dinner here. One of my favorite Italian restaurants now. We will definitely be back. Thanks to Vadim and the team!
Absolutely delicious from start to finish. Calamari and sea urchin pasta were amazing as well as the flat bread and the Parma ham. Amazing gnocchis as well. Service +++ attentive and really welcoming in a family style restaurant. We drove 1h30 do eat at la Ciccia and it was worth it! A gem.
For the appetizer, we ordered Inzalaredda de Acciugasa e Arangiu, which paired perfectly with the bread. We also ordered Prupisceddu in Umidu cun Tomatiga, which was incredibly tender. Pasta Cruzza cun Arrizonis for the main course was very authentic, and eating it warm was a delightful experience. Pezza de Angioni a sa Saba was also very tender. The restaurant had a great ambiance, and the service was excellent!!!! ❤️
La Ciccia is one of our favorite restaurants in SF. We’ve been coming here a bunch over the past year and took our parents here whenever they are in town It's a small family style restaurant with a cozy vibe, and the service is always friendly We've tried pretty much everything on the menu at this point, and our favorite dishes are the roasted calamari, baby octopus stew, and oven roasted prawns. Everything is packed with flavor. This place is perfect if you like a little bit of spice in your dishes
Hey y’all, I’m from Salinas about an hour or two away from La Ciccia! I made a Reservation at La Ciccia for my best friend’s birthday for a table of 13. Making a reservation was easy, I was able to get the assistance I needed and all my questions answered through phone calls and text messages! Upon walking in, we were greeted very kindly and quickly seated inside of this lovely establishment. The environment was beautiful and cozy! The service was amazing and each dish was described with great detail. Our plates were served beautifully and clean. I wanted to thank our servers again and lovely Cheryl for the amazing hospitality. I will definitely be returning and brining my boyfriend, I know he will love it as much as I do! Thank you, La Ciccia 💖💖
Had the best evening at La Ciccia, and every dish and the wine were all delicious. Cheryl and team are lovely, very warm and welcoming. Here’s what we ordered: Starters: calamari, the oven roasted prawns Mains: pasta special of the day, and the spaghetti spicy olive oil with bottariga All were so flavorful and complex, will order everything again. Forgot what wine we had but it was recommended by our server.
Amazing friendly service. We arrived for our reservation but the table wasn’t ready yet. The owner came over and gave us some Prosecco and let us hang out on their back porch dining area until our table was ready. Our server was incredibly friendly and gave us great recommendations, also insisted on getting me a new glass of wine when I didn’t love the one I had haha. And the food! The prices were very fair for both the quality and quantity of food provided. We got the octopus starter, their famous spaghetti, the squid ink pasta, the prawns and the lamb (our favorite!) And to top it off they offered us dessert on the house! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in San Francisco, don’t miss this place!
I was referred to this place by a friend. It’s so hard to make a reservation, so we decided to walk in and lucky us, we got bar seating. The food is absolutely amazing with generous portion. I enjoyed the calamari the most with its tenderness, and olive oil aroma. Even though this place is known for seafood, it’s seared lamb definitely goes beyond expectation as well. Will come back!
What a gem! Friends took me to La Ciccia last week for a fabulous Sardinian dinner. The atmosphere, service and food were all excellent. You will need a reservation. We were there mid-week and the place was packed with happy diners. Probably a local favorite. The fish I got (see photo) was a miracle of flavors that combined in beautiful ways. I will definitely return. My dinner companions elicited sounds of happiness as they ate their entrees. The charming owner of the restaurant was a joy to talk with.
The food is quite good, especially the octopus stew and gnocchi. I would strongly recommend making a reservation in the main dining room. We ate at the back patio and it’s not a similar experience. We had to scrounge up our own utensils, ask for plates, and try to find someone for water refills.
solid pastas and italian food served in a lowkey and neighborhood feel setting. the entire experience felt like going to a family owned restaurant with modest decor and extremely friendly service. the food itself was above average, using fresh ingredients at a fair price. overall, would come back and really enjoyed with great value for cost. roasted calamari: different than your typical fried calamari, but delicious. dip the bread in the squid sauce. spaghetti and fish roe: reminiscent of the mentaiko spaghetti at bon, nene, this dish was creamy + full of umami flavor. fettuccini sea urchin: well made dish but a little forgettable. similar flavor profile to spaghetti. potato gnocchi: must try dish! gnocchi was perfectly fluffy and the pasta sauce was rich and creamy.
Had been wanting to try this place for a while - the service was great and the ambiance was cozy (except for the front entrance, there was no waiting area and lots of people were crowded waiting for their tables throughout the night). We ordered the roasted calamari for an appetizer which was well seasoned, and 2 pastas. The spicy oil salmon roe had a great texture, but unfortunately did not like the overall flavor - was much too olive forward which made it bitter. Secondly we had the fettuccine with sea urchin, and similarly that flavor was lacking something. Overall it’s a solid place but wouldn’t come again. For the prices, you could go to Itria which is much tastier
Very tasty food, but I expected more at the price point. The Baby Octopus Stew was spectacular. Very tender, just spicy enough, and incredibly rich. The calamari was refreshingly vibrant. The Chocolate Panna Cotta was also well executed. Our two mains were somewhat underwhelming. The sea urchin pasta was a bit too briny for my liking, and the sauce wasn't rich enough to counteract that. The lamb was well-cooked, but the seasoning left something to be desired. Overall, I'd come back! But I'd try some different mains, since I can definitely see the potential here.
Sweet little neighborhood spot with authentic Sardinian (Italian) food. We ordered too much food but it was delicious so not regretted. Charmingly personal service. Why not 5 stars? Food presentation could use an update, as could the dining room. Prices are on the high side for what you're getting.
I’m a huge fan of Italian food (well, who isn’t) but this is the first time I had Sardinia cuisine and… given the price, the whole experience didn’t impress me much. I’d say overall 3.5-4 stars. The spaghettis and the lamb were nice but not super impressive, the portions were small, and the service was just ok. Well maybe because I just moved from Chicago where you can walk in to any Italian restaurants and get top notch food with reasonable price—from hearty family restaurants to fine dining, so my expectation was really high. But anyways, still a nice restaurant that worth trying, although I don’t really see myself returning.
It was good, problem is there is SO much great in SF. Really enjoyed the Burrata. The gnocchi seemed more like shell pasta (we even asked 😂), great flat bread. Spaghetti was good. Nothing was a home run. Maybe the flat bread. (Want to answer the restaurant "answer to my review": I have been to Sardinia, I do understand the type of food it is. Instead of addressing issues, this is the reason your once impossible to get into restaurant is easy to get a same day reservation. Good food is good food and great food is great food and you don't need to understand it to know it. I have not been to Korea or Japan or China and am able to determine good from great. I think you have it in you, time to up your game. Believe it or not, I'd love nothing more than to see you succeed).
A bit disappointed at this restaurant. (All the reviews are very high so I had high expectation for this restaurant) I had been to Italy before and I love Italian food. To me, this is not up to the standard. The service is fantastic. All the servers are very warm and welcomed. The seafood ( the squid especially) is not as fresh as we expected. The flavor is there. The pastas are all bit hard. I think it should be cooked for more time. What we liked the most is the prawns. But still it is not as fresh as we thought. We couldn’t taste the flavor of uni in the uni pasta.
I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand how important positive feedback is for small businesses. However, our recent experience was disappointing. The server’s attitude felt disrespectful from the start. He questioned whether we were comfortable with the wine prices in a way that made us feel uncomfortable. He also described a special as having a “bolognese-like sauce,” but when I referred to it as “bolognese pasta,” he abruptly stated that they did not have bolognese pasta, which was confusing given his earlier description. What concerned me most was his behavior toward my daughter. She was quietly drawing on the back of the receipt when he took the pen from her abruptly, without asking. She was visibly embarrassed by the interaction. We spoke with the owner, whom we like and respect, but unfortunately the experience left a negative impression. For that reason, we will not be returning.
